Review 1：The breakfast was poor, and got extremely repetitive after a couple of days. The room was extremely humid (took several days for a pair of jeans and shoes to dry) and the AC wasn't helping much. It was also quite cold in the corridors. The north side of the island is also not great for the winter, but that's not the hotel's fault. The indoors pool was a bit cold, the jacuzzi was quite poor and the sauna was off/too cold.

Review 2：The location of the hotel is great - right next to a good road leading to Funchal, with reasonably easy access to other places. Right on the coast, good view of the ocean from our room. The staff was generally very helpful, though the barman's English was not great. There is free WiFi - only available near the reception, but it is free. The outside pool looks great, though it was too cold for us to use in February

Review 4：We loved the sound of the waves!!! Best night sleep we had in ages!!! It will be our secret retreat!!

Review 5：Just 2 things: the corridor can be quite noisy near the reception; and the jacuzzi water takes too long to heat in the morning.

Review 6：well, it was everything fine for a few days of relax with my kid. Wish I'd stay longer ( maybe a next time). Didn't come outside the building for 2 days. Perfect for cold weather holidays.

Review 7：I didn't like the fact that we booked to Estalagem do Mar and weended in Monte Mar Palace. Because Estalagem do Mar is closed at themoment for renovation works and nobody informed us. Not very nice whenyou are driving around 8:00 pm. At Monte Mar Palace the receptionist induty named Carla, received us with a cold atittude no apologizes weregiven or even a complimentary treat. Not for a 4 star hotel at all. Thetv in the rooms are only good if you speak german or french. Only onecrappy english channel and no portuguese channels at all.

Review 8：In Monte Mar Palace the rooms were big, clean and confortable. Thebreakfast was also good, with a buffet service and several hot variateyof food to choose. It was a good value for money.Wonderfull views,really breathtaking. Peacefull location. Very good. Must be really goodat sommer to.

Review 9：They made no effort to email us re problem during the day despite having our email and phone number. On arrival we were told because we were late (4.30pm!) checking in we were the ones who had to move even though we'd booked the previous November. Tour parties took precedence over individual bookings clearly. The upside was the Estalagem do Vale, though previously rejected by us for being out of Sao Vicente, was for better than do Mar and we'll be staying there in future!

Review 10：We always try and stay here because of sea location and closeness to restaurants but they don't make it easy! We never got to stay there this year as when we arrived we were told our room - along with some others -had flood damage and we'd been relocated to sister hotel at different resort Ponta Delgado. Same thing happened 4 years ago when air conditioning failed! We refused to go there and because we know the hotels nearby were able to get relocated at a higher class hotel in Sao Vicente but out of town so not in walking distance of restaurants etc.
