Reviews for Saboia Estoril Hotel
Review 1:I have no real bad points about the Saboia other than there was no option really for getting dinner in the hotel as they didnt serve any food after 7pm but this is only a minor point
Review 2:Staff were very very friendly and would bend over backwards to help you. The receptionist Patricia is a credit to the Saboia hotel. The sea view balcony room was superb with a great view of the sea, and cascais in the background. The room itself was also very good
Review 3:The bedsheet was too old and with hairs over it. The toilets door didn't get closed completely because they were glass.
Review 4:The sea view was excellent. The breakfast and internet was good.
Review 5:The pillows were a it too hard and the sanitary goods in the en-suite were very 'tired'
Review 6:The staff couldn't have been better. Nothing was too much trouble. They were all very friendly and helpful.
Review 7:Small room, no balcony, power shower with inadequate screening, shortage of towel rails and places to put things!
Review 8:Handy location, excellent staff, good breakfasts.
Review 9:Management did not give me what I reserved 6.5 months earlier. I paid extra for a sea view, but their idea of sea view is an apartment house, with an oblique view of the sea. The breakfast room is very uncomfortable. Music is piped into the common rooms all day long. Bedrooms and bathrooms are extremely tiny.
Review 10:Lounge facilities were good. Front desk staff are extremely helpful and pleasant.
Review 11:The person at the check in desk was friendly and spoke good English and was helpful with directions. It was also 5 minutes walk to the train station, which took 30 minutes to the centre of Lisbon, there was a beach near by within walking distance for those night strolls and a good choice of restaurants too and free parking outside the hotel, fill up basics
Review 12:Rooms a bit small but otherwise very comfortable
Review 13:Room very clean. Nice cafeteria next door with lovely pasteries. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Hotel well located easy walking distance to seafront.
Review 14:Excellent location between Estoril and Cascais. 5 min Walking to good restaurants. Beautiful sights from balcony. Less than 10 min Walking to train stop
Review 15:Parking was hit and miss it states no need to reserve but when we arrived no parking available and no suggestions other than park on the street where there was no space had to spend our first evening watching for cars moving and topping up the car parking meter which was not cheap. we were there 5 days before a space became available in the hotel parking.
Review 16:friendly staff the service for breakfast and Lunch was very good as was the food.
Review 17:Some guests could be a little more considerate of others, for example by taking off stilettos when returning to rooms or keeping voices down in the corridor..
Review 18:The hotel staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. They were only too happy to help with information, sightseeing tips etc.
Review 19:Small room but ok for solo traveller. View made up for it!
Review 20:All staff members extremely friendly , helpful, no issue too small, very knowledgable about all aspects of the region. Beautiful patisserie on the ground floor. Can smell the baking eerily in the morning. Wonderful experience!! Amazing view from the balcony !!
Review 21:The room required a bit of upgradig, you can see the sign of tear and wear but nothing majo, the bedding and towels felt dated but were clean. The balcony was overlooked by the neighbours and missing a table to add to a couple of chaires there.
Review 22:Great stuff at the reception, close to the beach and village centre, great views from the balcony to the ocean, walkable distance to Cascais/Estoril, but it did not feel as busy and noisy as there. We took a romantic offer; everything was very nice. Port on arrival was a bonus. Overall, we had a very pleasant couple of days at the seaside.
Review 23:Breakfast was terrible. Busy, poor service, hot food was cold. Poor quality. Not worth the money, you should stay without getting breakfast here!! Also, the staff were only ok. Upon arrival we were told that we would have to change room after one night. The man couldn't give us any further details. We felt a bit aggrieved that we couldn't unpack for our 10 night stay. The manager sorted this issue the next morning, but it left a sour taste in the mouth!
Review 24:Near the beach. Air con, Wi-Fi, comfortable bed. Pool was good. Gym was extremely basic, but didn't expect too much. Couple of shops and atm nearby for fruit, beer, water, etc. -very handy. Overall you get what you pay for. Decent accom near the beach.
Review 25:Breakfast a bit limited (apart from the cakes!) and breakfast room is too small; some of the decor is a bit tired..
Review 26:Location is pretty perfect, half-way along the promenade between Estoril and Cascais. Staff are brilliant; pool area is nice; coffee shop is excellent
Review 27:Room fairly basic, needs modernisation, (although I got the feeling it's been modernised - not well - quite recently), painting and cleaning. Design of room and bathroom fittings rather odd - modern but with a retro/old-fashioned look that just doesn't work. Despite cleaning staff efforts, the room never really felt clean.
Review 28:Friendly and helpful staff, nice view over the bay
Review 29:cleanness of room was very poor, very dirty carpet
Review 30:very polite reception staff, good breakfast, the swimming pool was clean and the sitting around very friendly
Review 31:modern funky room. staff kindly moved me to a sea view room with a balcony the next day when one became available. pool area very relaxing and cafe downstairs just lovely with gorgeous pastries for sale!
Review 32:Noise - from road during the night plus refuse collection at midnight and early morning road sweeper
Review 33:Staff helpful good English spoken lovely pool and terrace
Review 34:Showers could do with upgrade.
Review 35:Location great easy access to beach, trains & Cascais. staff were very helpful especially Tiago. Great selection for Breakfast. Pool & outdoor seating area excelleny
Review 36:The mattress in our bed should have been replaced years ago. I could literally feel the springs when lying on the bed. Overall the place (apart from the pool area) seems a bit run down and in dire need of necessary renovation.
Review 37:The location right in the middle between Cascais and Estoril is excellent and it's only a short walk to the beach.
Review 38:Rooms could do with newer curtains and shower curtains but still would stay again 100%
Review 39:Staff wonderful, helpful and friendly. Lovely deck area with day beds and terrace. Overlooks beautiful gardens on square
Review 40:The weather great, food great, Hotel lounge area was Five Star, with a special mention for the Reception Staff, Patricia, and Tiago who looked after us in a very courteous and lovely way.
Review 41:The location was great for us with easy access to buses and trains yet still quiet and there was a relaxing intimate feel to the hotel. The staff were charming, the pool not overcrowded and the sun terrace even had comfy sofas. As a bonus the restaurant has it's own bakery.
Review 42:There was nothing I can complain about.
Review 43:Excellent staff. Food was fantastic. The restaurant had only been open for dinners for about 4 weeks and the dinners had a nice selection. Chef Mike came out every time we ate there to speak with us.
Review 44:I am gluten intolerant and asked the young girl in reception when checking in what was served at breakfast and she was unaware that eggs were available and I could have had breakfast there. We were directed to the bakery next door (actually part of the hotel) where I could get a gluten free breakfast but it turned out that I could have had one in the hotel restaurant anyway - so my comment is that the staff need to be more aware of what is being served on their own premises. The grouting in the bathroom was black in quite a few places which was a shame. Not happy with the glass bathroom door especially as our one scraped the floor each time you went in and out of it.
Review 45:Well situated for Cascais. Comfortable hotel but not a lot of noise insulation between the rooms. Modern décor. Loved the colour scheme.
Review 46:For us, the location was excellent. The staff extremely helpful. Rooms on the small side - but hey we were sleeping there not buying it! Breakfast was plentiful, of a decent quality and served across a generous 7.30 to 10.30 timescale.
Review 47:Hard to find fault.... but we did think that perhaps it was a practical joke to provide a full-body massage shower without fully enclosing the shower.
Review 48:Very nice, accommodating staff... professional but friendly. Nice cheerful-looking, comfortable room. Great view from balcony, and staff happy to provide glasses etc if you fancy having a bottle of wine on it. Breakfast served til 10.30, so no need to fly out of bed in a hurry.
Review 49:Very good first impression of the hotel when meet by Patrica in the reception, also friendly and serviceminded staff over all, 5 min walk to the train station into Lisabon (45 min), nice local neighborhood with local shops, newly opened restaurant that served good food to a ok price, nice breakfast buffet, OBS - hard madrasses and smaller beds then we are used to in northen Europe BUT it is the standard in Portugal so more a question of preference :-)
Review 50:The bathrooms are a bit dated and showing their age. Room layout felt just a tiny bit cramped.
Review 51:Quiet location just minutes from seafront. Very comfortable bed - I slept really well every night. Breakfast room is cosy with an ok selection of food. Staff are very helpful. View from my room on 5th floor was great!
Review 52:Everything was great!
Review 53:The staffs are really friendly and willing to help. The room is very clean, and the location is great, near the beach and train station. Highly recommend!
Review 54:I didn't like that cleaners did their job very late afternoon, when we came from beach 4PM then we had to wait after them and couldn't take a shower. Staff in the restaurant didn't speak english very well. Breakfast was good but there wasn't always room to sit anywhere in breakfast room. Several mornings all tables were already occupied.
Review 55:Amazing view for the Atlantic Ocean, very friendly reception staff, romantic packet is worth its money.
Review 56:Nothing. Some visitors with mobility issues might like to know that the hotel is a short walk uphill from the train station, but this wasn't an issue for us personally :-)
Review 57:We booked for 8 nights on the recommendation of a friend. We had such an enjoyable stay. Our room on the sixth floor had a great sea view and the balcony was perfect for relaxing. The breakfast room was very calm in the mornings (no stampede/rush) with a lovely selection of food that was always fresh and replenished frequently. Every member of staff throughout the hotel, from the reception to café to the cleaner was so helpful and pleasant and did everything to make our stay comfortable. The hotel is extremely clean, and kept to a very high standard. The pool/outdoor patio area is really nice and I love the fact that they supply good quality pool towels to use there. The free Wi-Fi was brilliant and the coverage/connection was consistently excellent. We will definitely be back for another visit soon!
Review 58:The rooms we're very small - however more than enough for us, we just required a base & it was comfortable
Review 59:The staff & overall cleanest of the hotel. Close to beach, trains & resturants
Review 60:Some street noise. Safe didn't always work properly.
Review 61:Facilities - excellent wi fi, good breakfast, nice cafe with great cakes and cooked food, power shower, friendly staff, nice room decor, balcony.
Review 62:The staff was so helpful and very accommodating. We received maps and directions to Sintra, Cascais, Estoril, and Lisbon. They called us a cab for our six am flight and had breakfast ready early for us, we could not have asked for more a more friendly and informative group of people!
Review 65:Room a little smaller than we would normally go for .
Review 66:VERY helpfull staff ,nothing too much trouble we would use again [price was good and would be a factor ].good 3 star hotel.Location was suitable as we regularly travel to ESTORIL/ CASCHAIS.
Review 67:Not a great selection for breakfast, but had the basics. One other minor thing: Our stay overlapped with the train strike in Portugal, therefore we were only able to utilize the great train service into Lisbon on our last day. In regards to the hotel, it would have been appreciated if the staff provided us with information about the strike, as well as our options to get into Lisbon. We eventually found out from another source that the only alternative to a taxi was a sightseeing tour bus (which turned out great, but we wish we had known sooner so we didn't waste our time waiting for the train or trying to find a way in to Lisbon).
Review 68:The location was great and the view from our room was AMAZING! Clean and comfortable stay. The champaign and chocolates were such a nice touch too! The train station and beach were a 5min walk. Cascais was only 15min walk away and the casino about 10min. Staff were friendly and good at giving directions.
Review 69:During the night there were some noisy youth on the street, we had to close the window
Review 70:Extremely friendly staff, beautiful see view, good breakfast, nice area around the pool, very good location. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived but we were given a bottle of shampaigne after chatting to receptionist
Review 71:Bedrooms rather cramped (although as we were only there for three nights this wasn't a major issue).
Review 72:Good buffet breakfast, helpful, friendly staff, good location in heart of town
Review 73:Our only feedback here would be that we would have preferred a kettle in the room and for hot tea/ coffee to be served at breakfast rather than a coffee machine.
Review 74:On arrival we were warmly greeted with a complimentary glass of port. The hotel is beautiful and in a fantastic location. The room was clean and comfortable, loved the little terrace off of our room and romantic sea view. Staff so friendly and helpful with a lovely smile. Parking was easy and free. This was our first trip to Portugal and when we planning another trip this hotel is on our list to come back to!
Review 75:This hotel is the best in this price category in Cascais Estoril Area. Staff is great and I keep on coming back. Never disappointed. Close to the train station to Lisbon. Easy to work. Small bar that get you the basics Pool area
Review 76:nothing
Review 77:It looks like the hotel has been renovated recently, it is clean, it has modern design with vivid colours and fashionable details in the interior. Breakfast is standard. There is an open sunny terrace and a swimming pool. The hotel is perfect to stay for several days.
Review 78:Dirty carpet. Hair found in the bath tub. Smelly bed sheet.
Review 79:Nice and friendly staff at the counter. Panorama from the hotel room is amazing during sunrise.
Review 80:We stayed for 11 nights .There were one or two days that we had to ask to have our room made up. There is no coffee pot in the room, but the staff provided hot water whenever we asked.
Review 81:1. We could easily walk to the train and to downtown Cascais. 2. The cafe in the hotel was convenient. 3. The room, though small, was quite adequate. 4. The staff was very helpful and patiently helped us whenever was asked. 5. The price was very good.
Review 82:A bit noisy outdoors (road) so I couldn't sleep with an open window (garden side). Would be happy to meet some devirsity at breakfest. There wasn't any TV-channel in russian.
Review 83:Very friendly and helpfull stuff, good room size and conditions, breakfest good enough. Clearning was very good.
Review 84:Weather and awful breakfast in cafe downstairs. Have pastry or roll don't ask for eggs!!!
Review 85:Very near train station. Good restaurant just up the road. Short walk to Cascais.
Review 86:No chance of fully blocking out sunlight in the morning; walls are thin, and is a bit noisy in the morning
Review 87:Staff, awesome bed, very clean and comfortable, location
Review 88:Hotel in general quite dated. It could have been so much nicer with a bit of TLC. Shower curtain was quite stained (cheap "fix), the furniture at the terrace was all in a bad shape and large flower pots broken and strapped not to fall apart. Leaves a bad impression!
Review 89:Fantastic location! We had a room with balcony and sea view. Terrific stuff. Hotel had a small fitness center. Nice terrace and pool area.
Review 90:I am a very light sleeper so the traffic was still noticable from the coast road.
Review 91:The location was great a 1 km stroll in either way along the seafront to Cascais or Estoril. Room fine and breakfast lovely. Staff friendly and helpful. Sea view much appreciated good places to eat nearby, also you own tea rooms. I liked the pillow menu.
Review 92:Very small room, construction noise from outside beginning at 7 a.m., poor breakfast and bad service during it (no hot water for tea for 20 minutes)
Review 93:Location, helpful staff at the reception
Review 94:Great location. 5 minute walk from the beach, bus few minutes away to Sintra, train station few minutes away which takes you to Lisbon. 10 minute walk along a lovely promenade to either Estoril centre or Cascais. The patisserie under the hotel is excellent. Hotel was clean. Rooms adequate and very reasonable for the price. Staff really helpful and friendly.
Review 95:Breakfast room was a little small, for the number of people and the food could have been a bit more varied in choice.
Review 96:Big comfy beds and pillows. Lovely sea views. Friendly, helpful staff. Cosy reading and sitting areas. Location of hotel was excellent. A short and very scenic walk into Cascais.
Review 97:Dirty old rooms, urgently update needed. Carpet is very old! Chairs with ripped covers, curtains with holes. Old mattrass and covers. We have seen many rooms and they are all the same. They inform you that you have booked a standard room but in fact they are all the same. The bathroom is a disaster, fungus everywhere and not clean at all! This hotel is a real shame...
Review 98:There was nothing to say we did not like
Review 99:This is our second visit to Hotel Saboia . Our first one was 2009. Once again we found the Hotel to be of excellent value - superb rooms we choose the one's with sea view - breakfast had a very good choice - it was quite busy. but plenty left of everything, which was replenished as soon as required. The cafe next door which the hotel now owns is excellent value also. It was very pleasing to know the hotel as had some refurbishment and everything is you as would expect for this time now. - example wifi now available in rooms. Also we received a very warm welcome when we entered the Hotel.
Review 100:Access to the Monte Estoril train station was via an underpass which wasn't very nice. Our bathroom didn't smell as fresh as I would have expected. We had an early morning departure and asked the night before if it was possible to have a wake up call to our room at 6.00am. The gentleman at reception assured us that it wouldn't be a problem, however we did not receive a call. It could have been the cause of us missing our flight home. We were ot impressed.
Review 101:We loved the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. The staff at reception and in the breakfast room were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was more than adequate. It was in a nice quiet location. We had a lovely sea view. Our bedroom was cleaned every day and our bed linen changed. All in all good value for money.
Review 102:The room had a very strong smell of cleaning fluid when we entered. By the evening it had dissipated somewhat.
Review 103:The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and there was a nice view of the ocean from the balcony. We were greeted with a glass of port at reception and a plate of cookies in the room - a very nice touch.
Review 104:Lovely pool area and lounge area, the rooms are fine, comfortable bed with pillow choice. Staff were excellent, gave great advice on the area and activities. I would highly recommend Estoril and Cascais as a holiday destination, lots of bars and restaurants and it's a really beautiful area. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel.
Review 105:There was some building work taking place nearby, so a lie in wasn't possible and there was a significant surcharge to bring food/drinks up from to the pool/lounge area from the cafe adjoined to the hotel.
Review 106:On arrival we were met with a warm welcome and a glass of port. The staff gave us clear instructions on how to get to the beach, Estoril & Cascais. The hotel has a lovely pool and lounge area & the rooms although small are comfortable. Ray's bar is a great place for an evening drink just across the road from the hotel and the cafe downstairs is full of lovely treats!
Review 107:Small bedroom and old mattress. Breakfast served in the room was in large quantity but the quality of the products could be better. The concentrated orange juice is just too cheap...
Review 108:The best thing of this 3 star hotel is the quiet location and the wonderful view of the balcony. I stayed at the 4 floor and although the hotel is rather old, the room was refurbished.
Review 109:We had a lovely room on the 6th floor with wonderful views, room was fairly small but adequate, hotel is a bit dated could do with a paint, breakfast was just ok
Review 110:- Had minimal, if any, impact on our holiday but the carpet was slightly worn in our room
Review 111:- Friendliness and Attentiveness of staff who readily recommended and assisted in planning day trips - Cleanliness of the room - Location and close proximity to a number of beaches
Review 112:Breakfast was good , though on the boring side, I think this could be easily improved as they have their own bakery with excellent bread and cakes. Some variation in cold cuts and maybe some salads ? would make a world of difference :)
Review 113:Friendliness and effectiveness of staff. Comfortable although quiet small room. Choice of cushions. Design and decoration of public areas is very relaxing and done with modern taste, lounge room with library. Swimming pool and deck, comfortable and never crowded. 5 minutes by foot from seaside promenade and Monte Estoril train station. We checked out very early and the reception manager arranged a nice breakfast, thanks ! We'll try to be back as soon as we can :)
Review 114:See through balconies a bit scary if afraid of hights.
Review 115:Great location, 10 min walk to Cascais along nice promenade. Modern, clean, good sized rooms with great sea view from balconies. Very welcoming staff. Cosy lounge and good breakfast.
Review 116:The weather was rather chilly and windy for sunbathing and swimming, but excellent for sightseeing
Review 117:The location is great, close to the train station, the beach, easy to reach both Lisbon and Sintra, the cafe on the ground floor is wonderful, cosy and delicious, the staff are the best we have ever met)))
Review 118:Carpet in the rooms should be changed.
Review 119:The price was right! We loved the area and you can reach everything by foot. The hotel also has a pleasant pool.We will come back!
Review 120:Wonderful Hotel in a wonderful setting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Saboia! The only comment we would like to make is about the bed (a king made up of two singles put together) is that we tended to fall in the crack between the two singles - very unsettling.
Review 121:A great hotel with a great view. Bar downstairs in the lobby and a great pastry place in the basement. Central location to beaches and Caiscais downtown.
Review 122:No complaints...except one minor one: when lying on the bed to view the world soccer matches on the television, the height of the tv. cast a dark shadow...tilt it downward perhaps a little? Never know...might work! Thanks!
Review 123:Great location: easy access to beach, Cascais, restaurants, trains, shopping. Staff were very efficient, pleasant, accommodating, and very friendly and helpful! We had a "front row seat" on our balcony watching the Airshow over the weekend! Fabulous! Fun!
Review 124:breakfast a bit hit and miss. Minimal continental breakfast, if you enjoy a good breakfast you ll be disappointed but it was not a big deal for us. A major problem with chipped delph, dishwasher problem Id say. Would stay again.
Review 125:Good value and close proximity to Cascais. friendly staff.Nice room and comfortable bed.
Review 126:Elevator
Review 127:Port
Review 128:The staff were excellent
Review 129:Breakfast, the view, great bed.
Review 130:friendly helpful staff; excellent value overall
Review 131:No frills, clean modern accommodation, reasonably priced.
