Reviews for Hotel Bejense

Review 1:The room we were given was very small and despite requesting a double bed we got two singles joined together which left very little room for anything else. Also it felt very dark and had dampness accompanied by a musky smell. Other rooms we walked past seemed more specious than ours at the end in 108. On New Years day we got up a bit later at 11am to find that all the hot water had run out. We had to wait until late afternoon to have a shower. Based on this experience we will most likely choose a different place to stay when visiting Beja again.

Review 2:Staff very nice and spoke great English. Hotel location is really good, in the old town near shops and places to eat and drink. The hotel building had nice character. Wifi was very good in the room. The breakfast was ok, adequate. All in all not expensive either.

Review 3:Wonderful place to stay; location was perfect! Staff very friendly... it was like you were staying with family. Beds were great to sleep in very comfortable. Love the family pictures of the owners on the walls. Great lounge to relax in on the 2nd floor.

Review 4:Family run hotel located centrally in the historic centre of Beja. Easy access to Castle and Churches. Walking distance from coach station (6 minutes). Staff friendly, room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom a little small but sufficient for us. Satisfactory breakfast. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 5:A great experience at this family run hotel. Great welcome. Great, clean room with mini refrigerator. Generous breakfast is included & a great shared living room/lounge. Lots of character & charm. Hope to come back one day.

Review 6:Very friendly staff, family run hotel. Were very helpful on arrival and helped us watch the rugby match in the lounge area (has sports channels) with complementary beer and crisps. We were on bikes and were very helpful with storage, etc.

Review 7:Small, friendly, family run hotel within the city walls. Fine breakfast, comfortable bed, nice bathroom. No cafe but one (also owned by family) across the very narrow street and you can bring it back and sit in the well- padded rattan chairs in front of the hotel

Review 8:Loved the central location, that restaurants and bars very close by. Staff very friendly and will chat to you in English or Portuguese. Breakfast good. Will stay again when next in Beja.

Review 9:Barbara, was so friendly, and it was a family run place, very lovely decor, her son very kindly took me to my car, and then directed me to another car park, given a voucher from hotel for free parking, small and quant, would stay again

Review 10:The bathroom had a glass door to the street. A mouth flew in the bathroom. There was a restaurant below that had a late live show and we couldn't sleep.

Review 11:Location.

Review 12:No hotel parking. Paid parking spaces are available around proximity of hotel.

Review 13:This hotel exceed all of our expectations. Excellent price in relation to the service and quality of accommodation. The hotel is situated in the heart of the city with easy access to restaurants and shops. Rooms were quiet, spacious and with updated and comfortable commodities. Beds were extremely large and comfortable! Hotel offers guests with a personalized homely feeling and courteous staff. We will definitely be returning in the near future.

Review 14:the location is perfect, the staff very helpfull and friendly, the room very cosy and pretty, the bathroom spotless, the breakfast very good with a lot of yummy cakes!

Review 15:The bed is extra extra large and very comfortable. The staff is friendly and polite. Breakfast os very good with a big choice of cakes, pastries, etc Position is perfect

Review 16:The only problem: no lift.

Review 17:Receptionist very friendly & helpful. Excellent English. Great location. Felt like staying in old home rather than hotel. Loved breakfast choices: many homemade sweets. Would stay again without hesitation.

Review 18:Asked for a quiet room when booking. This was completely ignored and we were put into possibly the worst bedroom for that purpose - adjacent to the breakfast room, the kitchen, the lounge the stairwell and facing the street. There are better hotels in the city for the same price.

Review 19:Nice decoration and reception area. Basic breakfast with a nice surprise of local sweets.

Review 20:colorful room, clean and comfortable. staff were very courteous and helpful. greeted us with a glass of juice. stored our bicycles until we arrived to begin our trip.

Review 21:Nothing.

Review 22:Great helpful staff in the hotel and very welcoming. Room excellent and general standard of hotel facilities good. Really appreciate a glass of port in the lounge that evening. Even though its on a pedestrian street i found parking easily close by.

Review 23:I did not see online information that mentioned that the hotel was on a pedestrian street (though I might have inferred that from a photo) and that there's no elevator--lots of hauling luggage. Also, much noise from the on-premise owner's residence (e.g., pounding meat to tenderize at 7am(!), and the sound of a large machine turning off and on at various hours.

Review 24:Room was comfortable, and price was great. Restaurant recommendation resulted in one of the best dinners we had in Portugal.

Review 25:Everything was fine.

Review 26:The hotel decor is a lovely surprise. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the wifi worked very well. Sitting in the cosy chairs at the front of the hotel in the pedestrian area enjoying a late evening drink was very relaxing.

Review 27:Can't reach by car. Don't waste time driving around in those narrow streets. Park car in parking and walk. Only paid parking.

Review 28:Cozy, warm, interesting and authentic design. Tasty breakfast. Very nice reception lady, but speaks poor english.

Review 29:Only drawback is there is no parking at hotel so have to park and carry cases to hotel. Just a small problem but not one that would stop us staying here again

Review 30:Very friendly hotel right in the middle of Beja. We were very impressed with the hotel got the price we paid.

Review 31:All good for the money

Review 32:Very friendly staff sorted out free parking for us locally and provided a lovely snack of Bifanna's whilst we enjoyed an afternoon aperitif in the bar

Review 33:Nothing much. Not many restsurants open, they had closed for the season. We were there 1st week october.

Review 34:Very helpful staff. 24hr reception. Let us park motorbike outside hotel even though pedestrian area. Frontage for bike belonged to hotel. They even suggested parking overnight for bike in their empty shop next door, couldnt get bike up steps though! Even carried pannie bags s upstairs which was a first!

Review 35:You have to climb the stairs as there is no lift. But staff is very helpful if you have big suitcase :-)

Review 36:Interesting design of the hotel. Fine localization. Friendly and well speaking English Staff. Excellent breakfast.

Review 37:With a car the hotel is difficult to access being in a pedestrian zone. Room was small and dark. Shower door came off its rails.Breakfast was the poorest we experienced in Portugal: little choice and poor quality.

Review 38:Good location and inexpensive.

Review 39:No secure parking close by. We got a parking ticket on the street where we parked our car. It was after 9.00am close to the centre so no surprise really.

Review 40:The lady who runs this hotel was delightful even though there was a language barrier. The hotel was clean and comfortable and interesting. The staff were delightful.

Review 41:Absolutely delightful guest house. Sweet rooms, gorgeous breakfast including home made cakes and home grown plumbs and figs. Large and cosy bar area. Barbara was kind and helpful (little English but more than our Portuguese!) This was a very peaceful stop over in a place that feels loved. Highly recommend.

Review 42:Did not know hotel was on a pedestrian way and (free with voucher) parking was far away from hotel. We did not schedule enough time there and had to leave too soon.

Review 43:Check-in pleasant and efficient. Room well maintained and everything worked Iincluding AC. Comfortable bed. Quiet. Attractive decor. Very nice breakfast included with rate.

Review 44:Wonderful hotel in the city centre of Beja. The staff and owners were more than just friendly and made our stay an unforgettable experience, even handing us over a little gift when we left. Have been there twice in the past three years and can recommend Bejense to everyone who wants to get to know the friendliness and typical hospitality of the Portugese people.

Review 45:There was not a thing to not like about this hotel.

Review 96:Finding the hotel as it is in a pedestrian area. Which makes dropping off cases a little difficult but worth the effort.

Review 97:Owner lovely. Breakfast very pleasant in a bright well decorated room. Rooms very good. Nice friendly atmosphere and very welcoming. Would go back. Town good on close inspection but first impression not so good. Secure parking 5 minutes walk. A few spaces allotted to hotel 2 minutes.

Review 98:The welcome from the staff was great and immediately the receptionist gave us good advice re what to see and where to dine out,she was brilliant.I also met the owner who was a wonderful, charming lady. I cannot fault our stay in fact I have already booked rooms at the hotel to take our friend later in the year.

Review 99:Nothing!!

Review 100:When we arrived we were greeted by Barbara, the hotel owner, who was such a lovely lady. Car parking was not an issue, the hotel located in the centre of the town. The room roomy and comfy for a town Center hotel. Breakfast was more than adequate. It was a nice place to stay. The hotel was full of interesting artefacts mainly from Africa. A good value place to stay.

Review 101:The hotel owner very kindly did two bags of laundry for us. However whenwe got the bill it was 40 euros, ouch! Also we had fill the parkingmetre up off site every 2 hours during the day.

Review 102:A very clean hotel in the centre of Beja which is good value for money. We liked the quiet communal lounge room where you could sit down andread a book with a complementary glass of port.

Review 103:Parking is difficult - there is a space near the hotel to unload so long as no one else has parked there! As the hotel is on a pedestrianised street it can be a long walk with luggage!

Review 111:Be prepared to walk to and from the taxi with your baggage - the hotel is on a pedestrianised street.
