Reviews for Kamata

Review 1:No wifi in rooms. No big deal for such a nice facility.

Review 2:Without a doubt, our stay at Kamata was one of the highlights during our 3 weeks in Japan. Clean and comfortable facilities. Good quiet location. A short bus ride from the Yugawara train station. The food was unique and delicious. Our host was very cordial and attentive. The private and communal onsen are both great. We recommend Kamata to our friends and family. Thank you!

Review 3:- our suitcase was brought to the wrong room, but when we asked about it, the owner ran around and summoned her employees till it was found in the adjacent room five minutes later - the owner kindly informed us about our transportation options to Ashinoko (Hakone lake), she estimated the taxi fare to be 4000 Yen, but it was around 7000 Yen

Review 4:- very clean and proper facilities - multiple hot spring options: private bath in the room, communal women´s / men´s bath and an outdoor family bath - because we have young children this was very convenient - our company stayed in two different rooms and the owner served us our meals in a large common room which was nice - the dinner and breakfast served was fresh and tasty, an authentic Japanese ryokan experience - there is a river with waterfalls and a little pond with carp just out front, this was a great place to go with the kids in the early morning to explore, the ryokan even had fish food for the kids

Review 5:beautiful traditional Ryokan, with attention to details. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Very nice dinner and breakfast served in the room. Beautiful and clean baths - both public and private. Absolutely to try for an authentic Japanese experience.

Review 6:the dinner was too pricy (10,000 yen per person) and the food wasn't great and not worth the money.

Review 7:i love the hot spring! The best I've ever had. The staff were very nice and helpful. Cool experience for the traditional Japanese way of living.

Review 8:The free wifi can be effective only in the public space.

Review 9:The ryokan is located near Oku-yugawara bus terminal. It isn't new but the room has been kept clean. Every staff is helpful and all of the food is tasty. There are two large bath and two open-air bath. Two open-air bath aren't large but you can use as a private bathroom.

Review 10:The compound is huge and the main onsens are located at a more isolated part of the compound. It may be a bit too quiet at night and getting to those baths alone may pose a slight problem for those who prefer more signs of life.

Review 11:-I was particularly impressed by: 1.The location - Kamata was located at a pristine and peaceful part of the mountain. 2. The variety, cleanliness and constant availability of both communal and private onsen 3. The size of the room - It was huge for two people! 4. The excellent service - Kudos to the staff for their warm and efficient service!

Review 12:a box with mirror, super comfortable bedding, cute and quiet neighbourhood, super good dinner and breakfast, a translated menu, next to bus stop

Review 13:Nothing I didn't like.

Review 14:Utterly warm and caring reception. Totally efficient. Helpful explanations. Spa fantastic. We went to the public and private ones. Food amazing and visually impressive. My 13 year old does pretty well but she had also cooked him sausages (so he ate those as well!). Both he and a family friend declared them delicious. It is totally quiet at night. Really fabulous Japanese experience.

Review 15:- While the traditional Japanese parts of were lovely, the rest was dated 70s style in corridors, public baths & part of guest room, which detracted from experience- the 2 private natural baths were the best part, but the smell of oil (perhaps from the water pump) was so strong it was difficult to enjoy the beauty of the natural setting - not a good value for for the money, we wouldn't return

Review 16:+The two private baths were lovely, nice natural feel and forest views& always available (but smelled strongly of oil)+ beautiful natural setting in cute onsen village +The staff was very friendly and attentive +Abundant traditional Japanese breakfast +Traditional Japanese style room was large and nice

Review 17:Very pricey. No restaurants or anything else close by. You must take the bus or taxi in to town.

Review 18:The hostess was very pleasant and made us feel very welcome. It was more like staying with friends.

Review 19:I spent 2 nights with my wife and daughter in this wonderful ryokan. The ryokan is located in a quiet small town. A stream flows in front of the ryokan, you can even feed fishes in a small pond near the stream. You would not found busy cars and people rushing around. You will feel the world changed to slow, carm, quiet, it is really feeling like you were going back to somewhere in past time.....Even it is located quietly away from busy world but it is very convenient with public transportation services. A bus stop is just few steps away from ryokan and easily connected to train station. So you could visit all surrounding small towns easily. The food of half board are excellent. They were not food only but also art works. The tasts were wonderful. The only pity thing was that the food were served with so many courses we hardly to finish them. There are two beautiful open air baths and also indoor bathes separated for man and women. We enjoyed all these bathes very much. All the staffs are so kind and helpful to us, especially lady Kamata san. She came to see us oftenly and would give us all helps we needed. She helped to suggest us the where to go and what to see, event with all printed introductions. She printed a very detailed route for our next hotel......anyway we have so much to say but I don't think any word could cover our feelings. If you want to experience a quiet vacation, a slow down life, a Japanese traditional life then I suggest you coming here. The money you send will be worth for everything you will get from here.

Review 20:Staff was very polite and friendly. Very beautiful and nature surrounded place. Outdoor Onsen were the best!

Review 21:Limited wifi

Review 22:Wonderful staff, beautiful garden and the surrounding

Review 23:Location is just OK

Review 24:The Onsen and delicious food

Review 25:No wi fi in room Station a bit far

Review 26:Everything was nice Comfort futon Warm room Good food

Review 27:- very quiet place...(too quiet ?) - prices should be less expensive

Review 28:- We forgot to book diner prior our venue. But, team was able to prepare us very good sashimi diner and pizza for children - Onsen are very good (indoor, outdoor) - Room very large. Futon confort could be a bit better - Easy to access from Railway station. 5min. with Taxi

Review 29:None that I can think of. Even the price was not that much cheap, after few minutes I was happy that I made the right decision.

Review 30:The service was exceptional. The land lady gave me a tour and explained everything I needed to know to enjoy Ryokan experience. Her English was fine. The room although bit old was very clean. In fact, the old atmosphere was an advantage as it gave a nice rustic, yet peaceful feeling. The two private onsens were very charming outdoor baths. The food, the dinner and breakfast, were excellent. I finished them all and enjoyed every bits. The location was accessible using local bus from Yugawara station, just look for the bus direction to Oku-Yugawara and stop at the last stop. There is a rather steep and narrow street along the river. Go up a bit and, voila, here you are at Kamata

Review 31:i miss almost everything in Kamata...the friendly and elegent landlady, the beatuiful hot spring tub in the open area, the big and cozy traditional Japanese room.... it is the best hotel i have ever stayed in Japan. i wish i could come back very soon. it is super relaxing here. love it.

Review 32:the road from the bus to hotel is not well lighted. the hotel is unrecognizable from the outside and no english translation of the hotel name.

Review 33:we arrived about 7pm and we were met by the owner herself and she was very hospitable . . and even cooked dinner for us. she took us around the hotel. the indoor and outdoor onsens were fantastic. the sound of water (creek) nearby is very relaxing, the scenery is beautiful and you feel close to nature. Near the bus stop.

Review 34:it' s no need to take taxi from yukawara jr station. The bus station is close to this ryokan only 3 minutes walk.

Review 35:Roriko and Neiko made me remember the real touch of Nippon with the great taste of big dinner in truely japannese style . This hotel is located in the amidst of nature. You will be surrounded by the moutain and found some nice home along the road.

Review 36:Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Excellent service and facilities - friendly and kind staff, amazing Onsen (both inside and out), great food, wonderful room. Highly recommended!

Review 37:The room that we stayed in overlooked a road, which runs parallel to the ryokan inn. There are many more rooms in the ryokan, and likely rooms facing the back or another direction would increase the sense of relaxation (as opposed to a street where cars occasionally break the silence).

Review 38:The food was amazing, diverse, and well worth the extra expense. The multiple hot springs, including private outdoor springs overlooking lots of greenery, were very enjoyable. While the ryokan is older, it was truly a pleasurable experience.

Review 39:A touch isolationist, no contact with other guests. Breakfast was frugal.

Review 40:It was certainly a Japanese experience

Review 41:expensive drinks

Review 42:really traditional, bath in the room, very nice outdoor private baths we sincery recommend

Review 43:The location is not very easy to find it.

Review 44:Very very good view. You can not believe your eyes.Good food. Both springs are wonderful. Good service.
