Reviews for Paço de Calheiros
Review 1:After two hours of driving, on arrival we could not find anyone. A friendly staff member came up at last and immediately gave us a piece of paper with names of restaurants (no addresses). He gave a hasty tour around the house and he insisted we should feel at home. We would have loved a drink but nothing was offered nor shown. There was nothing to do or see (rain!, no tv), and quite boring. A dog was left all by himself in a kennel, which was very sad.
Review 2:Beautiful building, inside and out. Breakfast with the owner.
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:Amazing property still family owned. The count sat and had breakfast with us then gave us a tour of the property, including the families private wing . Stunning breakfast. Property is full of history and tradition, very old world but amazing .
Review 5:Be warned if you want to use the swimming pool you have to walk up a number of steps. The self catering cooking facilities are very basic. Saucepans are very thin based and there is no frying pan. Wi fi is not available in the studios, only in the main house. Kitchen did not come with a plug or any liquid so had to do a basic wash up and leave the rest for the cleaners.
Review 6:This accommodation was not in the city. It was a large estate. You could have a tour of the house. Interesting when one family has owned it for so long. Use the GPS coordinates to get there.
Review 7:I would not call it a bad experience but the facilities are just average
Review 8:we were pleasantly surprised by the warm reception of the owner who gave us a tour through his extensive property which has magnificent views
Review 9:No food available, not diner and no lunch. No fridge or coffeemachine. So you can't stay a day at the swimmingpool but have to take the car to Ponte de Lima twice a day. However, the restaurants there are very good and not expensive.
Review 10:Beautiful house and wonderful enchanting gardens, lovely location between the vineyards with great views. Great swimmingpool, clean and with nice views. Ten minutes ride to te small friendly village Ponte de Lima with antique roman bridge and lots of really good restaurants. Charming owner.
Review 11:No restaurants close by (only reachable by car which is no option after a bottle of wine) and no option for dinner so we went to bed quite hungry..
Review 12:Beautiful location overlooking the vineyards The swimming pool Lovely breakfast
Review 13:Beautifull place. Palace is located on a nice hill, so there is a beautifull view at the whole valley and Ponte de Lima (you can see the bridge!). The host is very kind and helpfull. Rooms are nice and clean. Food excellent from their own garden and farm, organic and eco. We loved this place and will definately come back!
Review 14:Nothing, everything was great!
Review 15:Beautiful place! The owner had breakfast with us every morning and told us about the house, organization and what was happening in the area. The second night we had dinner at the house and it was super! We were made to feel at home! Would definitely go back!!!
Review 16:No wifi!!
Review 17:The host experience stories of noble families... Delighting house and location
Review 18:true paradise for a fair price, incredibly beautiful, very personal attention
Review 19:Everithing, mostly the location, quietness, and the Paço classic style. And the simpathy of the owner.
Review 20:Nice experience to stay in a restored manor house and have breakfast with the Count. Lovely swimming pool and excellent breakfast.
Review 21:A great warm welcome from staff and then an offer of evening drinks with the count and his own wine. Stunning location peaceful And relaxed.
Review 22:The host is gracious. It gives you the feel of aristocratic living from days gone by. We enjoyed wandering the property and conversing with guests from other parts of Europe. It is just lovely!
Review 23:No warm welcome. The bed of the first room given was not cleaned. The second room did not match the room type booked. The hotel confirmed double bed and we had twin beds. Room was too dark, cold and not cosy.
Review 24:Surroundings. Property well mantained. Nice view over the valley.
Review 25:The Count, the charming host, who dines with his guests, regales them with the history, and brings his ancient manor to life. He supports the local village traditional singing and folk dancing group, who performed for us while there.
