Reviews for Hotel Inglaterra Charme & Boutique
Review 1:The dinner menu was a little unimaginative especially for Christmas, although the food was well prepared.
Review 2:The hotel is in a good location and the hotel is a charming mix of old and modern. The room we were allocated in the new block was a good size and comfortable. The bedroom, dining room and other areas were clean and well maintained. The staff were helpful and welcoming and the restaurant staff were particularly attentive, and there was a good choice at the buffet breakfast.
Review 3:Buffet breakfast reduced choice but otherwise good quality. Hot water for tea making should be hotter (I don't like tepid tea). Shower tray overflows onto bathroom floor as careful as one can be in directing shower head.
Review 4:Stayed in the new part of the hotel. Rooms are large with modern fittings, fridge, safe TVs in bedroom and bathroom, nice balcony with table and chairs.
Review 5:Bed was not comfortable. A triple room is not really a triple room. There were two beds and a sofa couch which opend into a single bed but it was not comfortable at all to sleep there for several nights. We booked a nonsmoking room and they moved us into a smoking one. The smell was unbearable. No steering iron in the room and no coffe maker. No sleepers eventhough we asked for them at the reception. The minibar was very poor in alcooholic drinks. We tried to book a massage but nobody was there. They told us to call another day.
Review 6:Location was very convinient, close to the congress center and casino estoril. The area was quiet and nice. The hotel staff was very kind and helpful al the time.
Review 7:Limited menu on the restaurant, which is of low quality for the price. The room was quite dirty, with not enough towels and the shower gel dispenser was empty. Bathrobes in somewhat poor conditions and no slippers availabe at all. Two single bed put together to make a double on a romantic package is kind of unexpected. Some of the staff was unpolite, indiferent, not helpfull or even badmouthing the hotel. Booking genius complimentary drink not served, wine bottle from romantic package was not Port Wine, but a rather basic Alentejo Red, provided with no cork screw, wich was provided on request and with a maid waiting at the door to get it back.
Review 8:Confortable beds Excellent location Very good front desk staff and hotel manager Above average breakfeast
Review 9:They have a serious ant problem. We booked the suite and the second day there were ants all crawling over one of the closets with ants being all over the clothes. After many complaining we got a different suite which had ant problems again (this time in a different part of the building). Also be advised, there are 2 parts to this hotel. A brand new part and the old part we stayed in. The pictures are all mostly from the new part. The discounts you see are for rooms from the old part. Overall I did not fully enjoyed my stay at this place especially since we still payed full price after all the ant problems; some compensation would have been nice. Shame really, because the hotel looks great.
Review 10:The hotel looks nice, with overall friendly staff and good breakfast
Review 11:Our air conditioning was not working. Fortunately, we had a corner room, and just opened the windows for cool night air.
Review 12:Charming historic building with a gorgeous pool / outside lounge. Neighborhood was great, although not super near anything.
Review 13:Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff, nice building with a character. We stayed in the old part and had a very nice and spacious room with enough space to move around even with the extra bed for our child. We would be happy to stay there again in the future.
Review 14:We were staying in the old main building of the hotel and had unfortunately a range of disappointments: - Quality of the room (dirty carpet, dirty textiles, worn out shower curtain, old mattresses, noicy air condition) Qualiry of staff (no smiles, impersonal) Unstable WiFi (capacity restrictions coming and going) Breakfast quality (low quality coffee, dilluted juice) Far from a four star hotel!
Review 15:Location and exterior
Review 16:Gym was very poor. I used to train almost every morning, so gym was quite a big disappointment to me.
Review 17:Our room in the new part of hotel was very nice. Friendly staff and service was good.
Review 18:the new 'superior' rooms look beautiful however I did not realise upon booking the distinction between these and the rest of the hotel. the bathroom was terrible we ended up using the downstairs pool shower on our last day when we had discovered it!
Review 19:the bed was quite comfortable and the roof top terrace was pleasant with plenty of beds. staff were pleasant and moved us rooms after asking twice so we had a balcony
Review 22:It is necessary to specify in a separate email if you require twin beds rather than a double and worth checking it is available and has been confirmed.
Review 23:The staff were super helpful with details regarding the area and assistance with transport as well as matters within the hotel. Overall a very nice experience. Manuel at the front desk was really great! Thank you for a great stay.
Review 24:The original building is old and battered. My room and bathroom were not clean and were not properly cleaned during my stay. The same for the restaurant. Overpriced for what it offers.
Review 25:A beautiful view from my room, in the upper floor, across Estoril, Cascais and the sea.
Review 26:We booked this hotel on the basis if what we saw in the pictures however when we checked in the 2 rooms we booked looked nothing like the pictures! On our travels around the hotel we then discovered that the part of the hotel displayed in the pictures was elsewhere!!! Our room on 2 nights of our stay was not cleaned when we had asked on both days for it to be done! Breakfast was so so nothing extravagant again not what they show on pictures! Wasn't impressed in all honesty!!
Review 27:I red other comments about ants and tired rooms which made me hesitating but actually I saw one solitary ant, and had a classic style looking quiet fresh and sunny room so no real complaint from me there and happy I chose this hotel. Some of the dark wood furniture may give to some that impression but it was ok for me. There is room for improvement on food and service especially for a 4 star. Wifi needs improvement as when you move across the hotel common areas you never know if the signal will be strong enough. Still I could use it a fair amount
Review 28:Nice view on the bay from balcony - my room had one - very comfortable queen bed, linen and room, calm and quiet, an old large TV but I am not on holiday to watch TV so I did not mind, walking distance from the beach, nice pool deck, luke warm swimming-pool, the classic architecture of the hotel is quiet pleasant
Review 29:Booked triple room. Got double bed and kids put you up (too small). Pool area lacking in staff/amenities. Breakfast staff were ok but at other times we waited 15 mins or more for service, literally felt ignored, so left to get drinks elsewhere.
Review 30:Location great. 5 mins walk to beach. Several beaches within walking distance. Taxis easy to get. Hotel clean. Breakfast good choice. Double bed comfy.
Review 31:The Hotel needs an urgent renewal. This is not a 4* at all!! the room was poor and old (bed, bath, tv,..) and the breakfast was really basic and low quality. The Price (140) was expensive but it was the only hotel I found with free rooms for that night.
Review 32:I liked the people working there, fast to check in and check out and very servicial at the breaksfast.
Review 33:there were some ants in the room, but the staff really tried to help resolve this. In the rooms in the old wing, there is noise from the upper floor when people are moving around in the room due to the wood floors, but it was not that signficant
Review 34:very friendly and helpful staff as well as warm and polite, wonderful old and classic building but maintained excellently, nice pool and sun deck, good location, great wi-fi, decent breakfast. We received cake and a bottle of champagne for my wifes birthday without requesting!
Review 35:They refused to provide me late check-out as they had confirmed it. The breakfast was a really poor. The toilet flush didn't work properly. The sink was clogged. There are many small ants in the bathroom. The room cleaning was awful.
Review 36:The room was quite big but I am not sure that all the hotel rooms are the same. The hotel has two buildings - the main and the new one. We were in the new. Wi-Fi was quite good and didn't demand any login.
Review 37:pool ladders both broken. dangerous as sheer drop over edge of pool to road. rooms small not hoovered all week. we paid for family room to have extra room on arrival were moved to smaller room without consultation as we were only a 3 in fairness when we complained we had an acceptable room rate deduction
Review 38:good sleep location quiet area but still accessable to resort centre
Review 39:The restaraunt! Worst meal I have ever had, even the waiter seemed embarrassed to being serving the food
Review 40:Our room was lovely, with great views from the balcony and of course the pool
Review 41:Amazing stay for two data in tris spettacolar hotel. We've got upgrade in a third floor angle room with beautiful view in the gulf . Absolutely fantastic.
Review 42:Shabby hotel that needs to be brought up to the 21st Centuary. The TV must have been 20 years old! We did not think that it deserved a four star rating.
Review 43:The coffee at the breakfast was terrible. The room was fresh when the air-con was on, but when it was off, the air in the room got very moldy.
Review 44:The pool was nice, the room as well.
Review 45:We are a family with 2 young children ages 8 and 10. We were put in a room in the old section with 2 cots crammed together in the "living room" for the children and 2 twin beds pushed together to make a double bed for the adults. Was awful. We were originally booked for 4 nights and left after one night. It is not close to anything. The pool was freezing cold and although looked nice, was not suitable for swimming for our children.
Review 46:The breakfast buffet was clean, refreshed often, plentiful and had some variety of hot and cold foods. Hotel check in staff were pleasant and professional.
Review 47:This certainly is not a 4 star hotel! 3 star at best. The lifts are old and *very* shaky. The restaurant was deserted every night- and you'd know why if you seen the menu. Very, very little choice and most main courses about €25. I ate there one night and at the end of the (average) meal, I was charged €3.50 extra for the basket of bread rolls on the table!! I was not happy with this as I had not even asked for bread. There was also no option to get a jug of water with the meal- a bottle of expensive mineral water or nothing were the options. I realised quickly why I was the only person eating there! The 'poolside bar' was awful- they didn't even serve chips! The pool is very small and with very few sunloungers, about a quarter of which were broken. Not a terrible hotel, but if you're expecting a 4 star you'd be disappointed, and don't book if you like to eat in your hotel. No tea/coffee facilities in the rooms is also a big minus.
Review 48:The breakfast was great- a variety of food on offer; lots of juices, fruit, cereals, bacon, bread rolls, toast, pastries, etc. Served until 10.30am is great, but be warned! From 10am the staff are hovering around clearing away food you haven't finished and giving you the evil eye to get out! The Wi-Fi in this hotel was free and good quality.
Review 49:Nothing negative about this hotel .
Review 50:Lovely bedrooms in new part of hotel .Staff very pleasant and helpful.very good value for money .
Review 51:Rooms were nice, but a bit worn down already.
Review 52:Very friendly and helpful staff, nice pool area and good breakfast
Review 53:poor bar snack on the evening we arrived, breakfast ok but not that good
Review 54:Staff especially new manager very helpful
Review 55:no-smoking room was not no-smoking - we have to change the room
Review 56:the hotel - old part of it the breakfast bag to early-bird customers
Review 57:Location, confort and luxury, breakfast very well.
Review 58:hotel needs some renovations
Review 59:very friendly personnel and reliable
Review 60:nothing bad to say
Review 61:great location, and friendly staff
Review 62:Sometimes the service was slow.
Review 63:Pool and location is great
Review 64:It was a beautiful hotel, excellent facilities, near to the beach and had the most helpful and accommodating staff.
Review 65:Everything was simply great! Excellent choice!
Review 66:The gym was small and squeezed together.
Review 67:The hotel itself. The size of the room. Good quality wifi. Nice pool area. Friendly staff.
Review 68:WIFI was broken during our stay
Review 69:We were upgraded to a superior suite! Also the pool and lounge area were fantastic.
Review 70:Very nice, friendly staff, great swimming pool, great breakfast, convenient location
Review 71:The charm of the hotel, especially the paintings.
Review 72:Bed was uncomfortable.
Review 73:Location, staff friendliness, rooms, breakfast, pool, all fabulous.
Review 74:Very Nice and Comfortable Hotel, very well located. It was really nice staying here.
Review 75:Limited breakfast, shortage of good restaurants nearby.
Review 76:Charming older style hotel, good sized room. Nice beach.
Review 77:Very helpful and friendly staff, comfortable and clean and good value too!
Review 78:Terrible staffing all departments especially reception and resteraunt
Review 79:Bad work of room-cleaners
Review 80:Swimming pool with nice view, friendly staff alwys ready to help, big rooms with large bathhroom
Review 81:Paying for safety deposit box,Gym is in poor condition...no proper machines or free weights.
Review 82:Quite relaxed hotel in nice surroundings.
Review 83:to use the wifi you have to check into the providerder's website each time you return to the hotel. this is a bit cumbersome
Review 84:great location, just a short walk to the sea and the station
Review 85:We didnt like the poor internet that break down very often. Everything else was fine.
Review 86:we loved the location of the hotel, the pool which was on top of the new wing, the cleaning room and very pleasent staff, always ready to make your stay comfortable. great breakfast.
Review 87:it is not well isolated in terms of lightening. in the morning, there is to much light in the bedroom.
Review 88:beautiful hotel, awesome swimming pool, the location is great
Review 89:Hair drier didn't work MOST of the time. Shower VERY small. Ate one night at hotel ONLY. Service not so good. Food was very good.
Review 90:Clean room. Large enough for most part. Was a single room and it meant single. :) Breakfast was excellent.
Review 91:Room service did not clean our room even after letting the reception know that we were going to be out for a few hours. Air conditioning was not efficient, rooms were very hot (early May). Breakfast was disappointing.
Review 92:I found the wi-fi service good but having to log on every few minutes was tedious!!
Review 93:I liked this hotel a great deal, clean, central, helpful and efficiently managed.
Review 94:the smell in the room in the morning. the equipment and hotel in general is not new and some of items simply do not work or are quite old such as tv, bath tube,...
Review 95:The shower in the bathroom was of two choices either very hot or cold, nothing in between. The outdoor pool is only accessible in summertime.
Review 96:The breakfast was good with a lot to choose from and the room was nice and clean. The location is perfect, 2 min to the casino, spa, station, the buss station that can take you to Sintra or Lisboa, and 20 min walk to cascais.
Review 97:Too basic for a 4 stars hotel, no kettle, iron or hair drier in the room. Room was a bit tight for 2!
Review 98:Location was excellent for my purpose of stay, ocean only 5 minutes away yet the hotel is located in a nice, quiet, and very clean neighbourhood. Many resturants in the very close vicinity.
Review 99:Breakfast was very limited options and coffee was terrible. BATHROOM was very small. I asked for a taxi to airport and I was charged 50 Euro although the distance costed only 30 Euros. The safe was ser charge and this was not written in the offer on booking.com The elevator needs maintenance as it was really scary because of such turbulence during stopping.
Review 100:The location was good. The hotel was clean. The staff was helpful.
Review 101:Beautiful and ideal location very close to the beaches, the station to Lisbon and the very pleasant park by the casino. Nice pool. Fine, well-equipped rooms in the newer building. There is a large choice of restaurants in Cascais, by the sea, which you can walk to in about 15-25 minutes. However, in the adjacent avenida Biarritz, there is a lovely snack-restaurant with tasty homemade Portuguese dishes 'A Palmeira' for typical and very affordable lunches, and a smile too.
Review 102:Beds were horrible and it went so bad, that the last night other of us had to sleep on the floor. The matresses are so unstable that you wake up everytime you turn around in the bed. Everything else in the room was great. But because of these beds, I would not go there again.
Review 103:Breakfast, location and staff were excellent. Nothing to complain about those things.
Review 104:hotel generally needs a face lift, which in fairness they have started. not impressed with the restaurant which had a limited choice menu and was very expensive. food could also be vastly improved.
Review 105:after a slow start the staff were helpful. relatively easy to find. we were able to park the car off the road close to the door which was good.
Review 106:Some of the furnishings and decorations/trim in the older rooms were starting to show their age. They could use a styling refresh.
Review 107:Old school, elegant hotel, with a new wing that holds modern styling and contemporary design. The pool was fantastic and cozy, the bar and restaurant were perfect for a drink or snack prior to going out for dinner, and the views from the upper floors were gorgeous. Service and comfort were as expected (and slightly better than expected) for a hotel of this location and price.
Review 108:- The bedroom was very small and the bathroom-on suite was tiny and uncomfortable. - The breakfast was very limited. - The atmosphere in the hotel was depressing. - We moved to the Vila Gale after two nights and we were glad that we did.
Review 109:The prices in the restaurant were in my opinion very over the top. 6€for soup?????!!!!!!!!!!!
Review 110:I loved the room and so did my son. It was big and spacious and we had agreat 2 nights there.
Review 111:Drinks in the bar were very expensive. Limited choice at breakfast, it was the same every morning for the 7 days we were there.
Review 112:Well located and easy to find. Just off the main road, therefore quiet. Close to spectacular sea walk to Cascais, where there is a wide choice of shops and restaurants. Short walk to train station, making easy travel to the city of Lisbon. Room was comfortable with all necessary amenities. English newspapers provided each day.
Review 113:Our room was never cleaned properly. The balcony was dirty from day 1. The bathroom floor was never cleaned & no proper dusting was done. We had room 105 which is at the bottom of the stairs for rooms above & at the top of the stairs to the bar & restaurant / breakfast room so it was constantly noisy. The restaurant & bar prices were high.
Review 114:Located about 1/2 mile from Estoril beach. Reception staff very helpful.
Review 115:Unfortunately, the breakfast was not great with a very poor selection. My sister and I lived on tea and toast for the duration of our stay. We had to ask numerous times for black tea bags (and NO earl grey is not the same) and water was luke warm. I ended buying English breakfast tea from a nearby shop and asking for boiling water each morning. The deck chairs at the pool were hard and extremely uncomfortable and the evening meals were too expensive.
Review 116:Our room was clean and spacious. The reception staff were helpful and kind.
Review 117:It was very quiet, other that seeing other guests at breakfast you could think you were the only guest in the hotel. The hotel bar was always empty, and there was no evening entertainment.
Review 118:Its location was perfect for visiting the city
Review 119:Prices for drinks, minibar and meals were a little high in comparison towhat was availible locally.
Review 120:Old world charm twinned with modern comfort in a convenient setting.Hotel looks like something I would imagine you would find in Torquay inEngland. It was old fashioned in the best possible way. Pool wasadequate in proportion to guest numbers.
Review 121:Charming hotel in a very nice setting, pleasant atmosphere around thepool. The nearby park has plenty of palm trees which contributes to theexotic feel. The sea is within a few minutes' walk, as well as thetrain station which makes it a very easy and cheap commute to centralLisbon (in less than 30 minutes). Very comfortable rooms with lots ofspace, ours had a nice view. Good, substantial breakfast. The walk toCascais along the beach is quite an experience, especially in theevenings. Many thanks to Mr Costa for making our stay such an enjoyableone! Muito obrigado.
Review 122:food - breakfast was a crap! no vegetables even. cheese and meat not very fresh. yes, they serve wines and champagne in the morning but when you just want a normal breakfast, the wines don't help :))) facilities - the hotel is an old one, and hasn't been renovated enough. you can smell an old place ordour everywhere. bathroom looked more as the ones of the early XX century. seriously. air-conditioning in the rooms - absent (at least in ours). well, when it's less than 30 C outside it's fresh in the room anyway :))) staff - nice people but can't advise you on the transport, shopping, renting bycicles spots, and how to get to the main sightseeing places. you will have to discover yourself. we got the "best price" - otherwise we'd never stay for the full price there.
Review 123:the location is good, close to the beach, train station and downtown, all transport is available by hand. at the same time it's a quiet place. the pool was ok.
Review 124:Several of the receptionists spoke a rather poor english, communication difficulties. Sometimes a bit abrupt, not so friendly. Floor carpets rather worn out,not very clean. Lack of nice sitting places on the terraces (only two groups). Pool bar was closed.
Review 125:Quiet atmosphere, rather small, spacy. Nice old-fashioned architecture. nice "garden", outside terraces and pool.
Review 126:Very friendly staff and relaxed. Very clean and a great atmosphere.Location good for restaurants. Very Portugal and would certainly stayagain. Loved the buidling and rooms on ground floor, especially thelarge wooden double doors in my room.
Review 127:Breakfast
Review 128:Pool, Concierge,
Review 129:The carpets in the hallways
Review 130:The room in the new building...
Review 131:The room was musty and dated. Strong smell of sewage.
