Reviews for Hôtel Medina

Review 1:the bed was a bit narrow

Review 2:great location in the Media, close to beach and railway station; friendly, english-speaking staff, good working a/c, clean, quite, nice and traditional building

Review 3:Hotel is trying to expand and renovate. It was almost empty and 2nd floor was closed. There were many rooms that did not have windows and others with broken furniture, defective lighting and generally dismal aspect. Painting of exterior and constant noise of hoists and equipment took place starting around 10 pm. No wi-fi in rooms and erratic in lobby. Breakfast indifferent to poor. Made several room changes due to facts mentioned above.

Review 4:Location, and fairly easy to find from Sousse station. Also convenient to station de Louage for trips to Kouiran etc.

Review 5:The staff were a bit lazy about responding to requests for towels etc. The toilet leaked a bit. The TV was tiny. They didn't speak much English, but it's fine if you can manage French. Wi-fi only in the lobby.

Review 6:Cool (temperature), right in the corner of the medina for the North African feel. Amazing call to prayer coming from mosques on all sides. Lots of local food outlets right on the doorstep. Hot water shower. We met visitors from other North African countries (eg Libya), which was interesting.

Review 7:Very basic and minimal facilities, especially bathroom, which tended to flood slightly

Review 8:Central location Railway station and restaurants within easy walking distance Room with balcony Very basic but clean - can't expect much for the price

Review 9:The one thing I was not so keen on was that the shower didn't drain that fast, so it did flood the floor somewhat which was thee only problem I had.

Review 10:When I first got there, the staff member Samil was delightful considering I got there extremely late. The room was extremely large and I liked how the hotel was like a maze encased in history like walking through an old converted palace. There was the medina that was below and you literally only had to walk about 2 steps in order to get your bartering on. The mosque was just right across from the hotel, and the experience I had was great!!! The staff and all the souls I met was extremely helpful!!! Danke!!!!

Review 11:Price was 30 but i paid 32dinar, i couldnt lock the door from the inside, from the outside it was possible

Review 12:Clean, safe central quiet place, big room with own balcony, paid 15 eu for single room with bathroom

Review 13:The breakfast was not inspiring.

Review 14:It is next to the big mosque at the edge of the medina near the central. One of the young staff was fluent in English and very helpful in providing information. We had booked a double room but given a room of 3 beds with a sizable balcony. So good value for the money.

Review 15:Nothing in the room: no wifi no soap ... Quite dirty. Thin walls. The hotel is in the middle of a bazar. Not near the main attractions. At night no one opened the main door. I was waiting 40 minutes before finally they open the door. And it was only 12.30! There's only OnE personnin mornin and ONE at night working. Eventhough cheap its not worth stayin there. No cars can enter that area so if u take a cab it will drop you 5-6 min away from the hotel and you have to walk alone in a ghost-bazar to get there (and stay behind a closed door!).

Review 16:The place is an ancient caravan's motel. Very big labyrinth and nice walls.

Review 17:It would be nice to add some variety to breakfast food (every morning same food is offered).

Review 18:Great place to be used as a hub when exploring Tunisia. Main railway station is 7 min walking distance, old bazar and mosque are in front of the hotel. Staff members are extremely helpful and friendly. Would stay again if I come to Sousse.

Review 19:The breakfast is poor - but we stayed in three hotels in Tunisia and inevery hotel the breakfast was the same, so it can't be considered asa disadvantage of the hotel. In the room 227 you could smell cigarettesmoke which wasn't very pleasant as we are non-smokers. But inTunisia everybody smokes and doesn't care if it can bother anybodyelse - the rooms in other hotels also smelled with cigarette smoke.

Review 20:Superb location, in the medina, 5 minutes from the railway station. Thestaff is very helpful and the hotel is spotlessly clean even referringto European standards. It was surprising cause the hotel is rather old.Rooms which are offered on booking.com are equipped wit the ac, but theway the ac works can differ. We stayed in two rooms - room 121 (double)- powerful a/c and room 227 (triple) in which the a/c works notso good, it took some time to cool the room down. Some people complainedabout the proximity to the mosque, but it's not a problem, we'venever heard the muezin, if you turn the ac on and close the windownothing will bother you. The bar/restaurant - we haven't evenspotted there is one in the hotel so it is not loud for sure. Or mayb eit was just closed during our stay:)? If you need to get form/to theairport at night to contact the hotel - they will do their best to helpyou. Highly recommended.

Review 21:No Wi-Fi in rooms. Excellent Wi-Fi in lobby but it can be very hot and stuffy. Breakfast was included (croissant, yogurt, coffee/tea) but better to skip and go to nearby café.

Review 22:Located in the Medina; easy to find. Great staff. Budget friendly. Nice beds and rooms (but bathroom are small). It is not a resort hotel, rather it a meant to be a launching point for activities in and around the city. Easy walk to beach and train stations. Near cafes and restaurants.

Review 23:Internet was available only at the lobby. The drinking water was not available in the hotel.

Review 24:It is located right in the medina. It is also very close to the railway station, beach and all major shopping centers. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very welcoming and helpful.

Review 25:None.

Review 26:The location is perfect in the heart of old city.Clean, comfort and hostrical renovated hotel.Staff is so friendly.I really enjoy my stay and will stay again in my next trip to Sousse.

Review 27:nothing

Review 28:nice historic building....very clean....best place we stayed in Sousse....

Review 29:Location is great and staff is very friendly! The room is comfortable enough, with ac and nice clean bathroom.

Review 30:a lot of stairs

Review 31:It was all good.

Review 32:Right by the Medina. The building is stunning. The rooms are comfortable and quiet.

Review 33:crappy wifi no signal anywhere besides lobby, average breakfast,

Review 34:location,

Review 35:TV not working, heater not working, hot water very slow. No viewing .

Review 36:Staff

Review 37:Very nice staff, the localization is great, very good value for money

Review 38:the service during the breakfast was not what I expected. some noise at night.

Review 39:excellent location, excellent reception at a decent price.

Review 40:location

Review 41:My first room lacked a/c though the room was supposed to be equipped. Beds are a bit hard and bkfst is very basic. But at these prices the shortcomings are minor. This is a great hotel for the price.

Review 42:Very clean comfortable hotel with a great location in the medina. Friendly staff tries to be helpful. Attractive courtyard design. A/C is powerful and with windows closed you get plenty of quiet for a good rest

Review 43:The bedding and mattresses need to be replaced and upgraded

Review 44:The staff were very nice and helpful. This is a great value for money, if you are looking for a big clean room, in a hotel with history.

Review 45:The bar can be a bit noisy in the evenings, but closes relatively early.

Review 46:Family run hotel, immediately behind the Central Mosque at the entrance to the medina. Clean, modest but perfectly adequate rooms around an enclosed central courtyard in a great location, walking distance from the beach, train and metro stations, although you must be able to appreciate the call to prayer at very close hand. Features a very nice restaurant - dinner for one and a half bottle of wine for under TND25 -and a bar - don't be surprised if you meet a local shopkeeper in the lobby! Laundry available. Free, high-speed wifi in the lobby area. Overlooks the mosque and port from the roof. The manager (and owner's son) is recently returned from France, highly fluent in English, and keen to impress. All the staff are courteous and helpful.

Review 47:The hotel's staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are kept clean and the building is full of atmosphere in close proximity to the bustling, colourful "souk". . . Its location is ideal for the town centre and the port area / Metro Du Sahel (for Monastir and Mahdia further down the coast). The receptionists are more than happy to offer advice if you are planning day trips near to / within Sousse.

Review 48:Wifi was only available in the main lobby and was sometimes good, sometimes iffy. Breakfast was very average but understandable considering the price. I would stay here again all things considered as its great for backpackers who want basic accommodation. One thing to be careful of...its next to the main medina, the call to prayer was at 4.30am and quite loud so light sleepers bring ear plugs!

Review 49:Superb location, simple, functional and very well priced basic accommodation. Very close to the train station (5 mins walk) and most of the central amenities and sights. Reception always open, 24 hrs I think

Review 50:Such a historic beautiful building, right in the centre of things. Nice big room, comfortable bed, friendly staff. Good reception area where wifi is. If you go there, looking straight ahead from door, the shop about 4 or 5 along sells snow domes. Ask for Munir, the salesman and he will show you. Recommend a trip on a pirate boat too, straight down at the harbour. Nearly all locals on the on I took last Sunday, and they danced beautifully. You get a real feel for Sousse at The Medina. Nice and close to Sousse Museum and Dar Es Sid too. Don't miss them!

Review 51:Lack of directions to find it from the station. Had to hire a cab to take me there.

Review 52:Convenient to railway station, ONCE ONE LEARNED THE WAY (hotel is "buried" in medina--name is truly appropriiate)

Review 53:There is nothing negative to include at all . .

Review 54:The friendliness of all staff. The willingness to offer help when needed and flexibility during my stay . . Also the hotel is very atmospheric beside the old souk and the Catacombes

Review 55:I can´t really complane but breakfast was always the same.

Review 56:Perfect location. In the center of the medina, a walk away (10 min) from the beach. Everything is really close :) I recommend if you

Review 57:i have nothing to complain really! strategic location where its located in sousse medina, near to train and metro basically its very convenient to go anywhere. you can just shop for souvenir at the building nearby, lots of yummy food stalls and restaurant! friendly and helpful staff, they would help out if we encounter any problem. we got a quadruple room for the 3 of us at affordable price!

Review 58:Terrible experience: I reserved triple room and visited hotel -> on check-in, hotel staff advised me to change rooms into double room (we are 2 person) and I agreed/ stayed at double room for 2 nights. But , when check-out, they told me that I had reserved triple room and I made a mistake so I should pay triple room rates and after check-out I could claim thru booking.com/ what a nonsense! - I followed their advice and never had got into triple room. I rejected their inordinate demand, after a long dispute, they gave up their unreasonable demand. I hope nobody to book this hotel and Booking.com not to list this hotel any more.

Review 59:location : inside Sousse medina/ near from train station

Review 60:Old, simle designed, poor breakfast.

Review 61:Very close to center and medina. Good staff. Price. Clean enough.

Review 62:no wi-fi in the rooms, poor breakfast but it is normal for the price.

Review 63:helpfull staff, good location, spacious room.

Review 64:Excellent location in ancient medina

Review 65:nice friendly staff and great value of price.

Review 66:Everything, special the reception, really they were so nice, all the team thank you so much
