Reviews for Pavilions Hotel
Review 1:Despite stating on arrival that I didn't want anyone cleaning my room (I was only there two nights) and putting the 'Do not disturb' sign on my door, a cleaner went in and moved all of my things around. I even had an item of clothing go missing. When I complained at the reception desk, the blond member of staff wasn't really apologetic and simply said it was a new member of staff with poor English - "What else can I say". Another member of staff listened in from behind but made no effort to assist. As a manager of tourist attraction myself, this is a complete lack of customer service and care. My room was also unfortunately close to the main stairs and you could hear the door closing and other visitors talking.
Review 2:The food was nice and the bar was a relaxing area. The members of staff in the bar were friendly and welcoming.
Review 3:Parking was tough, not much room. Motel was very clean, quiet, we loved the space inside, the wall TV was way too big stuck on the wall between you & the bathroom and bedroom. One knocked into it going to the bathroom. The surrounds were impressive, we had been travelling for 3 weeks all over the South Island resorts at this stage, & this was far better than several we had stayed at that were 4 half star & 5.
Review 4:Location the size of our one bedroom after we checked in I asked for a upgrade on the ground floor level.
Review 5:Hard to find our room - instructions from reception were vague!! Also would have liked Sky Sport 3!!
Review 6:Nice room, good shower - close enough to town centre to walk.
Review 7:As there was no air conditioning, it would be good to have security stays fitted to the windows so they could be open for fresh air. Also, net curtains on the windows would eliminate the need to pull the curtains for privacy.
Review 8:Feels a bit like a hospital converted into a hotel, rooms are fine but nothing great about them, probably a bit expensive for $150 per night
Review 9:Location is close to Victoria street, easy to walk into town, nice bar
Review 10:Angle parks need remarking to stop people parallel parking outside units and taking up all the space. Not particularly friendly staff. Looked as though they had better things to do than deal with mere paying guests
Review 11:good location
Review 12:Toilet seat was broken. Spa bath sounded like a tractor. We specially asked for the spa bath room. Ver dissapointed. Location of room was very noisy till late at night and room above us was noisy too. Not the best experience.
Review 13:I don't think it's fair to call this a hotel, while it may have some of the 'features' to make it a hotel, the rooms are motel like.
Review 14:It was clean.
Review 15:Wifi was poor, bathroom and kitchen needed updating.
Review 16:The food at the restaurant was very good as was the service though desserts were disappointing after the mains.
Review 17:Not keen on the dark brown room soft furnishings!
Review 18:Great location near bars and restaurants and away from the building sites of central Christchurch. Lovely toiletries too.
Review 19:The bathroom is fitted for disabłe people (we had not requested this) so the. Water from the shower goes everywhere. You would expect a more luxurios décor for the price we paid. Two weeks earlier we had stayed in a gorgeous B&B (breakfast included) and paid 20$ less for a far superior accommodation which also had 2 bathrooms and a lovely view of the garden as well as a superb breakfast (no breakfast included at Pavilions)
Review 20:The location is good for easy access to the airport and to the city. The beds are comfortable.
Review 21:Breakfast...with how much you pay you didn't really get a selection therefore the price should be brought down.
Review 22:Our room was spacious and comfortable
Review 23:I didn't like the fact that when we or the room above us used hot water, the hot water service in a locked cupboard in our room(828) was really noisy and woke us up.
Review 24:The first room I was in smelt of cigarete smoke. I was moved to another room. I was woken by noisy neighbors at 2am, using the spa bath using audio equipment
Review 25:Comfortable bed Great staff
Review 26:The welcome was excellent, the gent who showed us to our accomodation couldn't do enough and was charming, friendly and informative. Restaurant staff were efficient and accommodating with a smile and friendly conversation which made us feel really at ease. We intend to retuning to NZ and will definitely look to stay here again
Review 27:Convenient location. Stayed with our 19 yr old daughter in a 2 bedroom unit which was much better than expected V. clean and comfortable. All facilities onsite.
Review 28:Nothing, or possibly the shopping mall being small? But that is being very very petty for a dislike
Review 29:The staff were very helpful & welcoming, a family business that is there for the customer. The bar and restaurant is very quirky & niche in the decor, was worth staying just for that. In the lobby there is a wonderful tribute to the Christchurch earthquake of 2011, very touching indeed
Review 30:I did not realise we would be sharing double beds when we booked the apartment so we asked if we could have a roll out bed, we also offered to pay for this. We felt this was a nusiance for staff.
Review 31:Easy location
Review 32:Just needs more hanging space in bathroom for towels etcetera,
Review 33:Good location . Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable room. Nothing asked for was too much trouble.
Review 34:By world standards it's expensive.
Review 35:The location is close to,but not at the heart of the city. The old fashioned welcome and friendliness of the staff.
Review 36:I arrived in Christchurch from Perth at 10.40pm. My Husband picked me up and all I wanted was a good shower and sleep. I slept well until I was woken at 7.45am! by workmen cutting tiles to fix the Pavilions pool on a Saturday Morning. I left feeling exhausted and stressed.
Review 37:We usually stay at the Pavilions when in Christchurch as its location is excellent and easy to get to. Plus it is always very clean. They have a Restaurant so you don't have to go out in the evenings for Dinner.
Review 38:The bathroom was dated. The spa bath was so noisy it was impossible to relax so I gave up after 5 minutes. The shower took 20 minutes to get hot water then it went cold right in the middle of the shower and another 10 minutes of mucking around before I got hot water again. The stainless steel shower tray reminded me of a camp ground. Would be good to see some work done on the bathroom.
Review 39:Main bedroom/lounge was nicely decorated.
Review 40:The staff weren't very welcoming , it seemed as though they looked down at us because we were young. We weren't impressed with that
Review 41:The location was great, I liked that you could park for free and the beds were very comfortable.
Review 42:There was some works done to a pool which was just outside our room downstairs. We checked in afternoon and was hoping to have some rest before going out for dinner but it was too noisy.
Review 43:The location and the staff
Review 44:We booked online in a standard room and got upgraded beautiful rooms, then was take to the room by a loverly man who took us to our room showed us where everything was A+ for service Then talked to room service very polite and the gentleman who brought our food was great. I loved the food.Id say Excellent, the whole experience was Fantastic.Thank you
Review 45:Was very disappointed with breakfast, was only just warm we chose to help ourselves to cooked, was cooked well though but thought the waitress could come around with coffee pot rather than having to get up and down all time.Makes a huge difference to be waited on for filling and refilling drinks.especially from the extremely high standard dinner was,
Review 46:beautiful dinner and service, lovely staff and bar for drink was lively .great staff throughout. Our room was very pleasing.
Review 47:Very helpful staff when checking in, helped with arranging transport to a wedding which was located out of the city, great sized room for 5 of us, excellent location! Highly recommend this hotel and would def stay here again when in Christchurch!
Review 48:Warm friendly staff, helpful too. Clean rooms/bathroom. Comfortable beds, not noisy for a Saturday night stay. Enjoyed a well presented and delicious dinner in restaurant. Handy location to shopping and town.
Review 49:Website said all year pool but pool had no water in it, you can hear doors banging espically next door to the room I was in.
Review 50:Location was good, room was big with big bathroom.
Review 51:Small breakfast bowls.
Review 52:Pillows were comfy, sheets and bed felt cosy. Room was warm without heating. Spacious room with great seating, so good to have a sofa. Kitchenette a bonus. Close to city centre. Free movies.
Review 53:A needle on the floor. Barking dogs at 6am. a large, noisy 4 wheel drive taking our carpark right at our door and leaving at 5.45am. Lots of noise on the stairs and banging doors half the night. Loud talking late into the night and very early in the morning.
Review 54:Handy to my specialist for treatment. Easy to find. Comfy beds. Friendly staff. Couldn't fault the accommodation just the other guests who were inconsiderate. Perhaps on check in guests could be reminded to consider other guests and keep the noise to a minimum.
Review 55:The propieter was a little short with us, making a snappy comment about not really careing either way (about a situation we were in)although she was accommodating to our request had we been different people we might have been a tad peed off but we weighed it up and didn't let it bother us.
Review 56:Modern and clean with good facilities
Review 57:Friendly, helpful girl upon my arrival on September 11, 2015 who organised everything from multiple taxis to pre-organising my room service at unusual hours, getting breakfast added to my bill to expedite the checkout. Super nice.
Review 58:Outside open staircase. The food at dinner could have been better. My entree deep fried Camembert cheese was still frozen in the midddle and tasted odd.. I was offered a free drink but as I already had had two glass of wine I declined as I did not want any more.
Review 59:Location
Review 60:Would have loved a mirror nearby the sink but apparently this is not customary in nz
Review 61:Quite convenient with ample and free parking. Large rooms with all the amenities. Good value for money.
Review 62:Morning staff were not as friendly as the afternoon/night staff apart from one lovely young lady
Review 63:My husband is in hospital and the night staff were fantastic especially with my 7 yr old daughter, they also managed to book me in for another night at short notice.
Review 64:N/A
Review 65:I applaud nothing being an issue wheather it be in the suite or talking with staff, it all was nice and easy and the staff knew what they were doing, brilliant.
Review 66:Very comfortable stay - great beds. The people were welcoming, the rooms fresh, clean and warm on arrival. Nice location, easy to get from the hotel to anywhere in Christchurch. Good value.
Review 67:Staff very friendly and helpful. The girl who checked me in was very informative and cheerful. Cleanliness in room excellent. Overall highly recommend
Review 68:Arrnaged to have my guests costs all covered, took the time to visit and present credit card and explain what was wnated when they checked out..however at check out time, the person on reception knew nothing about my credit card etc despite notes being written against one of the rooms...they had to call me to inform the receptionist what I had arranged the previous day. I also asked for the invoice etc to be emailed to me, this was'nt done. Despite this, my guests enjoyed their stay.
Review 69:Weekend reception misled me re catching bus to airport so I walked, and walked then caught a taxi to Orana Park to see gorillas which cost $60.00. Orana Park has a shuttle service which is $45 return - wish I'd been told.
Review 70:The obliging breakfast staff member who carried my case on Sunday morning - thanks.
Review 71:WiFi was hard to log on, gave up and used our phones. Did phone for assistance twice. The single bed mattress was very old and uncomfortable with no support. The shower was really old, and made a noise dripping because of the base.
Review 72:The location, the staff and the size of the room was comfortable for two friends traveling.
Review 73:Breakfast was way too expensive for what it was. $27 for a cooked breakfast that is already in bain maries is far too high. Continental too expensive as well. $45 for one cooked and one continental is outrageous.
Review 74:Dinner was fantastic, great menu, food was really good. Barman was awesome. Room was very nice. Great location.
Review 75:Nothing really. It was great for the price paid
Review 76:They gave us an extra key to leave in the power cut off so we could keep the heater going while we were out due to the cold temperatures. Nice forward thinking!
Review 77:The prices in their restaurant were high but the food was great and the prices were in line with the rest of the city.
Review 78:The room was great and everybody I met of the staff was friendly and helpfull
Review 79:Advertised heated pool . We booked because if thus as travelling with young kids . It was an outdoor pool that was v definitely not heated . Room was freezing cold Beds uncomfortable
Review 80:Location was convenient
Review 81:Only heating source was a fan heater, quite noisy when it switched on/off during the night. Made for disrupted sleep.
Review 82:Comfortable, clean rooms. Friendly staff and well-equipped facilities.
Review 83:Loud noise from people around, fighting, arguing....too expensive restaurant foods and mini bar prices, pool was supposed to be heated all year round like in description
Review 84:Access
Review 85:Bathroom facilities could do with a revamp, very small and need modernised. Walls were very thin we could here the people in the next unit talking so they could probably here us.
Review 86:The location was very handy to everything we wanted to do.
Review 87:I wasn't happy as I could only stay one night . And actually had to leave to catch a flight at 3.30 am
Review 88:Staff were very helpful and lovely. Just the overall ambiance. And great value.
Review 89:Hotel insisted on payment in advance which is unusual and not the best welcome, especially when room not yet seen.
Review 90:Large room, good facilities. Some would want more up-to-date facilities
Review 91:Pavilion motel is one of my fave accommodations will visit once a month just to get away from home ...
Review 92:Privacy ; room service and also in house movies are available
Review 93:there was nothing I didn't like about it.
Review 94:great stay, the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Staff friendly and relaxed. Very large apartment. Very clean.
Review 95:Next door sounded like wild party loud music laughing, went on for ages. You could look at those flat panel heaters like Eco . They are great for background heat. I cant have fan heaters cos of my asthma. So I was cold. I need to breathe warm air.
Review 96:The suite set up was great
Review 97:Wifi didn't work in room but we could access it from the reception area.
Review 98:Friendly staff, great room service options, fabulous location, free movies in room...
Review 99:The staff were great, very casual nature but professional and knowledgeable. Our two bedroom apartment was well appointed, as was the complex. Gym was great!
Review 100:The fact that our door wouldn't lock
Review 101:The staff at the cafe/bar were very friendly and nice to be able to chat away to them during the evening, meal was great and being able to sit and relax on the couches while being served our meal was awesome. The room was nicely presented and value for the price we paid.
Review 102:onlyn one small complaint and that was i couldnt get wifi in the first room, however the staff relocated me and all was fine,
Review 103:the size and facilities in the room, i would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and colleagues.
Review 104:Lots of things didn't work (eg lights, fans heaters). The bathroom was poorly designed and smelt mouldy. The unit was poorly designed (eg doors couldn't open, no room to sit at the dining table).
Review 105:The beds were comfortable. The location was great for our purposes. The breakfast was good tho predictable.
Review 106:Over the years we have stayed at the Pavillions several times and have always found the staff very friendly room immaculate food delicious and convenience to town. Thoroughly recommend it
Review 107:The bathroom was a bit pokey. Unfortunately being on Papanui Road means a lot of siren noise on a weekend night.
Review 108:The room was comfortable and clean. It is conveniently close to most of the central city.
Review 109:We had a noisy couple next to our room who fought all night. Yelling & swearing for about 3hrs. They were finally asked to leave after several people complained. So not a very good nites sleep.
Review 110:Great central location walking distance to town. Had everything that you would need, very nice & comfortable.
Review 111:The rooms are outdated and need a major overhaul. There are areas of damp and mould. The layout of the two bedroom apt is poor. The kitchen is substandard. Overall poor for the price.
Review 112:The fridge was so full of room bar drinks that it was difficult to fit anything else in. The bathroom was a little short of space for sponge bag.
Review 113:We enjoyed personal touch of the owners story in book form and the really interesting paintings around the hotel. Great restaurant. The cleaning staff were excellent.
Review 114:Other 'guests' spoilt our night but that was beyond the control of the hotel. This is minor, but it would be nice to have 'skinny' pillows available as well as the fat ones!
Review 115:Lovely unit, good facilities.
Review 116:Relative silence in a part of Christchurch that is quite noisy - close to lots of restaurants and bars - hotel is well sheltered. Bed was super comfy
Review 117:Cost didn't reflect room. Creaking doors, shower leaking over floor. Having to pay for plunger coffee at double the cost, paying for a bag of sweets at 3x the cost!
Review 118:Rung Room Service on my first night for about 45 minutes - it was engaged for the whole time - Went and got takeaways, decided to do the same the next night also.
Review 119:Everything
Review 120:Courteous, attentive discreet staff - and complimentary upgrade based on a friend's topping up my mini-bar with muesli and fruit. What a kind gesture. Also prompt an grumble-free courier returning the charger and battery that I left behind
Review 121:TheKapa Haka festival was on and were woken every morning at 6.30 with the contestants shouting to each outer and late at night. Someone had brought a dog against the rules and it was barking and running up and down the balcony.
Review 122:Location, Easy walk to Hagley park.
Review 123:The French press was broken; it leaked all over when pouring in hot water. I called the from desk to request a new one. An older gent came to the room and insisted I prove to him the one we had was broken. (The glass was broken) When I asked for a new one he left with a "humph' and returned with anew one. In addition our room looked out on stairs. Room was too pricy to look at stirs.
Review 124:Over priced for a small room. We were expecting something luxurious for what we paid. Instead we got a tiny room, dated facilities, a weak and small shower. We were right above the pool which did not make for a relaxing stay but at least it wasn't as noisy as the parties at 2am that we had to complain about only to be hung up on.
Review 125:Dinner at the restaurant was good.
Review 126:No room safe, so had to keep our valuables with us.
Review 127:Not too far from airport with a smooth checkin at 2am. Spacious, clean room with good facilities. Also well placed for visiting friends in and around Christchurch.
Review 128:Staff are toooo busy and seems untrained. I asked where my room is, the staff member stared at the map for more than 30 seconds and could not figure out where the front desk on the hotel map. Then someone called her for some reason and she went to do something else, and then never get back to me again. I figured out the way on the map myself and waited politely for 5 minutes tried to let her know I've already figured out and then thank her anyway, but as she never came back I had to go... And about the rooms, everything seems fine except the privacy. The wall against the hall way is entirely glass and that hallway is incredibly busy. I could either close the curtain to make the room feel as night or open the curtain to see everyone walk around.
Review 129:It was during the Chinese New year break and understandably the hotel had many Mainland Chinese Guests. Although beyond the direct control of the hotel, the noise from these tourists was well beyond a reasonable level.
Review 130:The staff were very helpful and I thank the duty manager for assisting me with some internet difficulties that were finally resolved. Nice people.
