Reviews for Hotel San Andrea

Review 1:Nothing that I can think of.

Review 2:Excellent location in the bay & handy for the bus. Excellent friendly staff. Good breakfast and the restaurant was nice too. We had a small but clean room with a small balcony over looking the bay which was nice.

Review 3:We had hoped the upstairs lounge area would have been more comfortable to spend time in after a meal. As the rooms are quite small we would have valued the use of this extra space when the weather was too wet/windy to stay outside for long

Review 4:The staff were very friendly and attentive. The selection on the menu was good and the quality of food excellent. We had a room overlooking the bay which was perfect. The breakfast selection catered for all tastes from continental to full-English. Exceptionally good value

Review 5:A fridge in the room would be a real bonus and seems something of a staple in Malta and Gozo.

Review 6:Lovely staff, rooms are clean and comfortable, good bed. I'd rate it far higher than the 8.5 it has so far. Restaurant attached is excellent both for breakfast and meals. I loved my stay and would recommend the place to anyone.

Review 7:The hotel is situated in the heart of a very touristic area, and easily accessible from Victoria, which is city situated in central Gozo. The cleanliness of the rooms and the general public areas was exceptional. Our room was situated on the Fourth floor, which was easily accessible through the lobby lift. We booked on a Bed and Breakfast basis, and the hotel offered a buffet breakfast. Every day the menu was slightly different, making it more interesting. The hotel offered free WIFI in our room, which was easily accessible without any particular issues.

Review 8:We could not fault the hotel.

Review 9:The view from our balcony was amazing. The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. We will definately stay there again and recommend to friends and family.

Review 10:They made me pay in full the moment I arrived. Room so small that it was impractical to even have a chair. Balcony overlooked narrow noisy street.

Review 11:Quiet Location - few people in the hotel off peak season

Review 12:Not a dislike as such. Rooms are in need of dusting more often. Better daily cleaning.

Review 13:The hotel staff dealing with clients is without exception excellent in all respects.

Review 14:The room was quite small for two people, if should stay longer. The bed cover was not very clean.

Review 15:Great seafront location. Kind staff. Very good breakfast.

Review 16:We ordered at an extra charge the Tea/Coffee facilities. However the room is so small that there is nowhere to put the tray on. We had to keep it on the floor all the times, even to make coffee. The maids then took the small table we had in the balcony to put the tray on inside the room, leaving us nowhere to put the ashtray and coffee mugs in the balcony.

Review 17:We booked a sea view room which was great. Breakfast was very good. Room was clean and staff was very welcoming.

Review 18:Spectacularly awful breakfast coffee from a machine. But outweighed by plenty of everything else at breakfast.

Review 19:Superb welcome and greetings from all their staff, including advice on local walks. In-house restaurant offered a discount to hotel guests and was delicious, well-presented food and good value. Breakfast was a generous spread of continental and cooked items. Room had plenty of space, and wifi worked fine. Xlendi is a small village and the bus stop is just a minute away.

Review 20:Overall very happy especially given the good price from booking. Com Our room was slightly small but still comfortable. The beds was a bit short to be honest but otherwise no complaints

Review 21:Nice location and friendly staff. We went in low season so the place was very quiet, perfect for relaxation. Highly recommended. Will visit again

Review 22:My personal preference is to have a nice softer pillow, as it was so hard that my head didn't leave a dent. I did address this with the hotel. Other than that I cannot fault it.

Review 23:On the whole staying at San Andrea was lovely. Room was adequate, clean and quiet (November time). We only stayed the one night, but the location and restaurant was excellent. The pasta dish from the Zafiro restaurant was the best I've had in a long time. Nice breakfast too and lovely staff.

Review 24:The decor of the hotel is bit outdated. Would be great with some refurbishments .

Review 25:Location is good and breakfast food was good too .room was clean and staff was friendly. Worth it stay.

Review 26:Did not sleep well at all the first night. The traffic was coming down the hill and travelling at speed over a grate which was very noisy. The second night was a bit better

Review 27:The location was fabulous.

Review 28:The one thing which I did not like is that I was supposed to have a double bed, however we were given two single beds next to each other.

Review 29:I liked the layout of the hitel, as well as the location, it has breathtaking seaviews. Also, it provides free Wifi in all rooms.

Review 30:There can be a lot of noise at night from the road and people late at night. No tea/coffee in rm.

Review 31:Easy to park nearby.right in the bay. Great view from balcony over the harbour. Clean and comfortable.

Review 32:The hotel had a nice feeling to it and the view from the double room was fabulous. Dinner in the restaurant was really good. The whole experience was very good value. I would definitely come again.

Review 33:They do let themselves down with breakfast because it's not laid out well so everyone is in each other's way and that's not what you want to deal with in the morning. It would be so simple to improve. There was also something weird going on with the toast I think staff were making it and putting it in with the hot items to keep warm - finding a piece of toast floating in the beans just looked revolting - I'd stop this. Overall nothing that could not be resolved immediately and no major issues.

Review 34:Clean, pleasant, well decorated. Good size room, wifi worked, staff helpful. Overall it's a nice place in a nice place.

Review 35:We stayed for 4 nights in a sea view room. The view was amazing. Staff were extremely helpful and the food at the restaurant was delicious. Will definitely go back and would recommend.

Review 36:Although having a lovely two days in Gozo, I am still distressed as even though I paid in advance for our accomadation which was taken off my cdredit card, we were assured that that was not the actual payment so my husband paid again and to date (nearly a month later) my credit card has not been refunded the amount that I was initally charged.

Review 37:The area of Xlandi is beautiful and a great place to spend a few days.

Review 38:I miss a desk at the room. And more space for bags and clothes. The room was small when you stay for a week as we did.

Review 39:Close to the sea, beautiful view. I also like the environmental awareness.

Review 40:It was unusual to have to pay for the hire of a kettle for the room, although the cost was modest.

Review 41:Especially liked the location and the room. Hotel is beautifully situated on the waterfront and the room was spacious and comfortable. Would gladly return.

Review 42:Jason and his wife who ran the business were amazing people. Jason was very helpful with the adaptors I needed for my computer. George is a great old guy that drove me around into Victoria. The location is beautiful.

Review 43:The wifi connection wasn't very good.

Review 44:Amazing location with a sea view, as we had planned for. Also, the reception staff was very helpful in researching possible tours for us.

Review 45:Lots of little extra costs such as extra towels, tea and coffee making facilities in room, fridge in room etc.

Review 46:Great location and private balcony area for residents

Review 47:A small fridge in the room is needed in this hot location.

Review 48:We had a room overlooking the beautiful bay. The staff were very helpful. At night we had the guest's menu, and the meal was very good on both nights, and great value.

Review 49:The bed linen could have been crisper, whiter. The room was quite cramped though comfortable enough. No swimming pool at all.

Review 50:The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful especially when my husband did not feel well. Excellent restaurant and good value for money. The fact that the sea was accessible very easily made up for the lack of a pool. Excellent view of the bay.

Review 51:Wifi not consistent and sometimes slow.

Review 52:Great little hotel in the best location. Fantastic staff. Book a Seaview room if you can. We stayed three nights and ate at the hotel restaurant each night because it was so good. Would also recommend doing a half day tour with Xlendi water sports around Gozo and Blue Lagoon. Staff helped us organise this. Thank you!

Review 53:Room was a bit small and could do with update. Problems quickly forgotten under the spell of xlendi

Review 54:Food in the restaurant was amazing. View from sea room spectacular. Staff very helpful and genuine.

Review 55:Lunch at the St. Patrick Hotel (next door) wasn't so good. I'd recommend staying put and eating at the San Andrea.

Review 56:Value for money is outstanding. The breakfast was lovely and the location is breathtaking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. we will definitely return.

Review 57:The only minus was accessibility for pushchairs. Since our son has special needs we could not access the reception area or the dining area without help. However Staff were courteous and very helpful. They aided us whenever we needed to enter or leave the premises.

Review 58:The room was clean and provisions had been made for an extra cot for our young son as per our request. Staff was helpful from the moment we stepped in right until the final handshake.

Review 59:- Our room was very small, it was hard to get around the bed. - Taxi service provided by the hotel was overpriced. We requested a taxi from the hotel to Ta'Cenc hotel, which is approx. 4 km, for four people. We paid 22 Euro, while every other taxis charged only 12-15 Euro. Also, the "taxi driver" turned out to be a hotel employee perhaps trying to make some extra money. Better get a business card from a real taxi driver and call yourself from your room telephone.

Review 60:+ Nice hotel + Very friendly staff + At the beach + Very good restaurant + Good value for money

Review 61:The San Andrea hotel provided us with a great holiday, in a fantastic bay (Xlendi) and staffed by friendly and helpful people. They go the extra mile to ensure a memorable holiday - and it was. Thank you.

Review 62:Our room was a bit cramped and overlooked the main street so was sometimes noisy especially early mornings.

Review 63:The location at the head of Xlendi bay and a half block from the bus stop is extremely convenient for both local restaurants and for exploring the island. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good.

Review 64:Breakfast ok. Coffee not great. Wifi a little intermittant at times

Review 65:clean hotel, fabulous view, lovely owners, perfect location by the beach, amazing restauraunts nearby, a1 value. Sea view rooms stunning view

Review 66:Reception by the staff and manager was not particularly warm. It advertised as discounted from 600 euros to 90, which is ridiculous. Room was very small. Apart from the location and view, nothing too special.

Review 67:The breakfast was fine, better on the second day but it wasn't great. Still a reasonable range and definitely something for everyone but we've had better.

Review 68:The hotel is very well priced for a three star hotel and is really well situated. It is TOTALLY worth paying extra for a sea view. Staff lovely, beds comfortable and view exceptional (as mentioned).

Review 69:The bed was bad, it combined with two single beds.

Review 70:The hotel just next to the bay, I can enjoy the view in breakfast time. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Review 71:We had room 405 which has a front balcony and a side balcony. Fantastic view over the harbour and the sun was shining on the side balcony when we woke. Lovely and clean, good service in reception, dinner and breakfast. Half board was great value.

Review 72:room was a bit small and the shower was not that good,it seemed to be worked with a pump and when the pressure got low it started and the first few seconds cold water would come out then hot water after. this would happen every minute or so

Review 73:breakfast was good and loction was good too

Review 74:We stayed in Room 105. I suggest that the mattress, bed cover and the floor mats be updated.

Review 75:Cleanliness of the Room was Good and the cleanliness of the bathroom in particular was terrific and appreciated. Staff was exceptionally accommodating and kind.

Review 76:I found the bath very slippery when taking a shower. Also the design of the building made it noisy, especially with other guests letting doors bang. None of this would deter me from staying again, however.

Review 77:The location, friendly, helpful staff and great food. Excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Review 78:I left early morning before standard breakfast time and although staff were available to provide breakfast (which was great) we discovered that I'd been charged 2 nights for a room with a sea view (which I did not have) - staff could do nothing about this as they had to go with the computer...

Review 79:Excellent location, food and staff. Loved the music played in the restaurant during evening meals.

Review 80:Not a bad experience at all. However there was not tea/coffee facility in the room BUT we were told we could hire a kettle etc or go to the Restaurant.

Review 81:Location, friendly staff. Nothing was too much. Infact we arrived earlier than planned and we were able to check in, we didn't need to wait that hour and a half.

Review 82:Bed was to hard as well as the pillows.

Review 83:The food was good, wine at reasonable prices, and staff very helpful. Being close to the shore ideal for great walks.

Review 84:This is not about the hotel, its about Xlendi (the small village where the hotel is located). In winter there is nothing to do apart from going to a restaurant in the evening. You have to go to another location by car for entertainment.

Review 85:This Hotel is very clean, located by the water's edge in Xlendi Gozo. The rooms are nicely furnished. Actually you do not need anything more for a short break.

Review 86:The beds and pillows were unfortunately pretty uncomfortable, the bed a bit plasticky.

Review 87:The gentlemen running the restaurant were such a pleasure, Xlendi is small with a handful of restaurants, but I really enjoyed eating there every night of my stay.

Review 88:Sometimes you hear noises in the corridor when clients use there room, but it is expected to hear other people.

Review 89:The location, quality of the hotel and friendly staff. Tidy room and free good connection wifi.

Review 90:The room's heating system was not functioning correctly-it got quite cool in the room.

Review 91:Top location, bus stop very close by. Wonderful breakfast. Dining facilities great. View from seafront room fabulous.

Review 92:Would have liked a shelf in the room [compromise between smaller room with sea view balcony or larger side room with more space/table - there is a roof terrace]

Review 93:View. Staff. Food. Balcony

Review 94:Nothing special.

Review 95:Xlendi is the most wonderful place in Gozo.Hotel San Andrea was so nice! Room is clean and price is so reasonable. What is more breakfast is luxurious.Of course dinner, too.

Review 96:Nothing.

Review 97:Bearing in mind the location and hotel rates we felt there was very little that could be found to fault the hotel. The hotel restaurant was a bonus on an evening with the set menu offering excellent value for money and was also changed each night.

Review 98:Lack of spa/indoor pool but it was a small hotel so did not expect it. Good value for money.

Review 99:I liked the roof terrace while watching sunset and the calm atmosphere in the morning

Review 100:Appalling noise coming from bar next door with holiday maker patrons singing drunken sea shanties on the outside tables until midnight when I had had enough and called the reception at San Andrea to complain. At breakfast the next morning I found I was not the only resident of the hotel to complain about the carousing late at night keeping guests awake. Also unfortunately hotel room was full of flies.....A real blight as room would fill up with flies as soon as you opened the doors onto the balcony. Had nearly 20 of them in my room at one point. Such a shame as location of this hotel is wonderful. Would not stay there again however with children because of noisy and inconsiderate drinkers in the bar next door late at night and would have to check to see whether fly problem had been eliminated.

Review 101:Location was wonderful - pay extra for seafront room but beware of drunken noise coming from bar next door as patrons sit outside late into the night and if intoxicated don't seem to care how much noise they create. Although the San Andreas receptionist said that usually the police patrol the quayside keeping the odd noisy gathering in check, on the night that we stayed unfortunately this did not happen.

Review 102:The residents lounge being on the 5th floor, but that is me being picky.

Review 103:I liked the friendly atmosphere of the hotel, the quality and presentation of the food at dinner was has good as I have had at 5 star restaurant's around the world.

Review 104:Hotel is located close to the water's edge at Xlendi bay. Service from staff was good.

Review 105:Nightly Birthday parties in the Restaurant under my window till 3 in the morning. Then noise from nearby restaurants cleaning and restocking from 6.30 am.

Review 106:The roof top lounge was underused – mainly, I think because there was noshade up there (no sun umbrellas) – I would have liked to sit and readmy book up there is there had been some shade. Rooms – I was slightlydisappointed when we arrived and saw the room as it was quite small. This would not have mattered so much if my husband was not diving anddid not have all his equipment to unpack and put somewhere but we justtried to be a bit more organised than usual and it was ok

Review 107:Rooms - apart from being on the small side, everything was fine – theywas clean and the bed was reasonably comfortable. Bathroom – clean andwith good hairdryer, again not much space to put things like toiletries.Breakfast – good variety of hot and cold food – would like more freshfruit, for example the delicious prickly pears, but I believe that theseare only available at certain times of the year. Service – this is wherethe hotel excels – the reception staff were very friendly and helped outwith arranging tours, transfers, online check-in etc, and any problemswere dealt with very quickly and efficiently. The restaurant service wasalso excellent - the waiters and waitresses were attentive, polite, andfriendly, we never had to wait too long for anything – unlike in some ofthe other restaurants/cafes we visited in the resort. The setevening menu was always very good and offered a very economical diningoption, only 15 euros for a three course meal.Position – literally just across the road from one of the dive centres and just around the corner from another, so very convenient for divers. It is also just a few steps from the beautiful bay where there are plenty of areas cordoned off for swimming and snorkelling. The water was very clear and also very warm (23 degrees) but there were not many fish to be seen apart from very little ones. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to others mainly because of the excellent staff and the friendly, helpful atmosphere.

Review 108:Great location - right on the waterline. Room comfortable with aircon and wifi. Hairdryer in bathroom was best I've used in a hotel. Plentiful hot water and good water pressure in showers. Restaurant popular with very reasonable three course set menu priced at 15euros for hotel residents. Very well staffed restaurant and despite being busy very attentive service.

Review 109:Bedroom filled by the massive bed, no room to make a cuppa (no kettle included either) nor space for a mini fridge. Smiles a bit thin on the ground. Cooked breakfast a bit lacking.

Review 110:Great location, beautifully kept with attractive balconies and roof terrace. Restaurant right on the promenade - perfect for breakfast and lovely with candles at dinner. Set evening dinner good value for money plus good range of affordable wines on menu.

Review 111:No complaints at all!

Review 112:Staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful Great view over Xlendi Bay Right opposite a scuba diving operator Hotel restaurant served great food with a very good value set menu for residents, as well as a la carte menu A stone's throw from other local restaurants

Review 113:We had a corner room that looked over the bay & the road leading into Xlendi. Cars drove up & down all night making it quite difficult to sleep because of the noise

Review 114:You walked straight out of the hotel to the water so it meant you had wonderful views every where. Xlendi is not over crowded so it was a perfect place to just relax & enjoy the sun & swimming.

Review 115:wifi only worked in certain places, room was too small and the bed was huge in comparison to the footage..

Review 116:Staff was amazing, food was awesome, location is incredible!

Review 117:The Internet only worked in certain places. The hotel is quite dated and needs a face lift. Very poor breakfast, no variation - eggs and toast. But the terrace is right by the water so it was quite nice to sit there.

Review 118:The location is awesome! Staff is very helpful and friendly, the drapes in the room are super-thick so I could sleep for 10 straight hours while there.

Review 119:Nothing significant, needed to ask 2 times to solve a small issue wit a soap dispenser.

Review 120:Very friendly and helpfull staff, especially the staff of the restaurant. The manager of the restaurant is a very pleasant and warm person, which reflects on his staff as well. Very good food, sometimes a bit pricy.

Review 121:Great location, we had a sea view room and it is definitely worth paying the extra for, the views are gorgeous. The staff were so helpful and friendly I would definitely recommend!

Review 122:Breakfast - the coffee and bacon were really not good, however, the juice and choice of other food was very good

Review 123:Location was excellent, some of the staff were very friendly although the check in and out could have been friendlier -

Review 124:We do not have any negative comments at all about this hotel, and enjoyed our sojourn very much indeed.

Review 125:Wonderful location, very pleasant room with delightful balcony, very clean and comfortable, excellent breakfast and restaurant, friendly and hospitable reception staff.

Review 126:The location, proximity to the sea, the staff, friendliness, helpfulness and efficiency of the staff. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. In all fantastic relaxed atmosphere and wonderful sea views.

Review 127:rooms too small. i've ordered a new bed and there was barely room for me to walk, letalone for a bed. Everything comes with an upsale. There is no fridge, poor breakfast options...one has to pay extra 8euros to get a proper breakfast. wifi was really slow for browsing.

Review 128:view was good

Review 129:Extremely small room - literally no place for two bags, small outdated tv (although we haven't used it). In my reservation I've asked for sea view - haven't got it.

Review 130:Good enough location, good enough breakfast. Staff helped with car renting.

Review 131:Check-in was efficient but frosty, formal, and totally devoid of eye-contact. This guy needs to do some serious work on his interpersonal skill set. Iffy odour in bathroom at times

Review 132:Location, breakfast, cleanliness. It's a smartly run operation

Review 133:The water tastes a little bit like sea water, but this seemed to be the case everywhere that we stayed in Malta!

Review 134:The San Andrea is in a wonderful location with very competitive prices. The staff were kind, even going so far as to make us sandwiches when we had an early morning start on our day of departure. The rooms are not large but they are more than enough of a base to start exploring the wonderful island of Gozo. The hotel is also literally opposite the excellent St. Andrews diving company. The hotel breakfast is very good and they offer guests a discount for their other meals.

Review 135:Very clean bright and well appointed apartment. Well maintained and the staff and management were very helpful throughout.

Review 136:The money stayed reserved for the hotel on my credit card for more than 2 weeks after we had left the hotel.

The Fine Print

Please note: you must specify in the comments note if you wish to book the half-board option for the guest staying in the extra bed. Beverages are not included. Dinner may be exchanged with lunch, if requested in time.
