Reviews for Casa D Obidos
Review 1:Mosquitos- however problem solved with spray.
Review 2:Beautiful renovated historic farm house and buildings. Great view of castle and surrounding farm land. Close to village but best to have a car to get to property.
Review 3:Lovely yesteryear environment. Roomy rooms with views over the countryside. Breakfast was a highlight as well. Maria was very helpful in sorting through a toll issue.
Review 4:Lovely setting, twenty minute leisurely walk into bustling Obidos, but very tranquil. Well refurbished, and nice helpful staff, my bed was comfortable and I slept very well. Breakfast was fabulous, continental but with a nice choice and range of delicious things to eat.
Review 5:- none
Review 6:- very beatiful and well decorated (old style) - green and open environament - very clean - five minutes driving to the old city - the hostess was very kind and welcoming - breakfast was the best we had in portugal! a nice dining room with a big central table where you can chat with other travelers
Review 7:Wi-fi signal adequate only in very limited areas. Uncomfortable beds due to plastic underpadding and lack of intermediate blanket (choice between single sheet or quilt does not match temperature needs). A few mosquitoes in room - why not provide the European plug-in bug repellent?.
Review 8:Elegant old house in quiet location. Easy parking. Good breakfast format for meeting other guests.
Review 9:We had our own Casa Mathilde house so plenty of space both indoors and outdoors. We were invited to an amazing breakfast in the big house next day which was not expected and we were made to feel very welcome. We enjoyed the gardens and being in the country but so close to the town of Obidos.
Review 10:When we arrived we were told our 1 bed apartment was being repaired so we had room 3 in the house with a view to the town and castle. Very comfortable bed and an excellent breakfast. And we were only charged the lower rate that we had booked. We had some difficulty finding it because we turned off the main road too soon, just before the sign - out satnav can't handle off road. So wait till you have passed the large church on your left after you have left Obidos and the turn is opposite the Bombeiros.
Review 11:The house is beautiful and so too gardens. Short walk to 3 great restaurants and the city. Eat at the close restaurants. The staff were truly wonderful. Stay here.
Review 12:wish we could have stayed longer
Review 13:Breakfast was very good. The staff was very helpful and we even got a welcome drink. They made a reservation for us at the poussada restaurant.
Review 14:The weather was not the best when we went. Only 1.5 days of sun, and quite a bit of rain, so ate and drunk too much!
Review 15:Excellent location. Town ideal position for excursions, and one of best in area. Olcobaca best other town in area. Local food and wine very good and way cheaper than Spain. Had fresh bread rolls each morning although we were in an apartment. Staff very friendly and not intrusive in any way. Had rental car from Budget at Lisbon and was the cheapest, and were fine. No messing with the fuel and prices etc.
Review 16:Located out of town Felt uneasy retuning at night down lonely road Without the help of the lovely welcoming hostess it would have been too difficult for me to carry my luggage upstairs
Review 17:Facilities include Pool and Tennis Court Easy Parking Friendly and Helpful staff Nice Breakfast
Review 18:Showers were a bit small One of the two apartments was a bit musty
Review 19:Good value Nice grounds Excellent service both before and during out stay Recently updated grounds Great views
Review 20:The pillows
Review 21:Great rural retreat within walking distance to Obidos walled old town. Breakfast was excellent, facilities included pool, billiards, lovely grounds.
Review 22:broadband is poor road signage to the Casa is poor address is not listed in GPS- so driving here is difficult for foreigners
Review 23:building has charm staff are excellent- especially Mariana location is good
Review 24:The bed had a plastic undersheet. This precludes restful sleep, as you wake up constantly throughout the night bathed in perspiration, throw off the covers, then wake up again freezing. We are not incontinent so find such sheets insulting.
Review 25:Lovely traditional quinta, clm and peaceful, lovely view of Obidos castle
Review 26:I would have preferred to be in the city so we could walk at night and enjoy the town. This is a great little place for those looking for something outside the city.
Review 27:Family run, very nice and helpful. Had great recommendations for local food.
Review 28:Wi-Fi was only available in the office space for my phone. My husband could get it on the porch of the main house. When we were leaving they were setting up the compound for wi-fi in all the areas. There was also a smell of sewage if we opened our back cottage windows. I'm sure this was also being addressed.
Review 29:Everything was quite nice and the staff was very efficient. Location was good, close enough to the old town but not on top of it.
Review 30:Out of the way (if you don't have a car)
Review 31:Beautiful and scenic property View of the castle Well maintained Peaceful and relaxing Great breakfast Free parking on property Authentic
Review 32:Mosquitos

Review 34:Beautiful property and minutes from Obidos. Loved apartment Matilda and the fresh bread delivery each morning.
Review 35:No A/C
Review 36:Casa is old but lovely. No A/C and a little humid. Very authentic and has great vistas of the village of Obidos. Beautiful grounds.

Review 48:Kind hospitality, great location, beautiful gardens, tranquility.
Review 49:Nothing. We were very pleased.
Review 50:Location size and value for money
Review 51:Charming hostess made us feel like private guests at her country estate.
Review 52:beautiful old house quiet location lovely hostess delicous breakfast
Review 53:Lovely spot to stop on way to Lisbon and visit Obidos in the early evening and stay for dinner in old walled city.
Review 54:20 min walk to town, no a/c or fan, no wifi in rooms only in breakfast area
Review 55:Staff were wonderful, large rooms, great home cooked breakfast
Review 56:Front service person named Mimi should not be in the hospitality industry. We arrived 20 minutes before check-in, she did not get up to greet us and announced we were too early. There was a mix-up with our booking dates. Mimi was entirely unsympathetic and defensive. We had to wait for Marianna to arrive and then everything was resolved smoothly and to our satisfaction.
Review 57:Beautiful grounds in a tranquil setting. Gorgeous views of the castle. Substantial breakfast but there were two sittings and you were rushed to eat.
Review 58:This is a charming old farmstead-cum-B and B. If you like to walk, it's a pleasant walk to Obidos, but a bit far if you're not a walker. You can see the place prominently as you look down from the Obidos walls. The grounds are very charming as well.
Review 59:The owner who was very dictatorial and lacking any personal skills . Itwasn't comfortable or warm and over priced .
Review 60:The setting was good and also the breakfast
Review 61:nothing really.
Review 62:Manager extremely helpful, drove us to the castle herself, booked for our dinner. the following morning we were also driven to the bus station to continue our adventure.
Review 63:Easy to find - just off the motorway but only a five minute drive from Obidos which is well worth a visit. Reasonably priced for a grand old building with swimming pool.
Review 64:Obidos itself is very touristy. We much preferred the walled city & castle of Marvao.
Review 65:This location just outside Obidos was wonderful as was the staff & breakfast. It was also close to 3 very good restaurants near the church. Casa D'Obidos is also only about a 30 minute drive to Nazare & Sitio on the coast which we also enjoyed immensely.
Review 66:there was nothing we didn't like!
Review 67:Marianna the manager of the property could not have been more helpful, with information on places to visit, restaurant recommendations and general hints as to getting around Obidos. Our room was charming, & very spacious, and the recently renovated bathroom was clean & fresh with plenty of room. We booked for three nights, and quickly decided to book for another night, as the location is perfect for exploring the many areas of Interest in and around Obidos
Review 68:It was perfect, but we could only stay 1 night, next time we'll stay longer.
Review 69:Friendly staff, well maintained property and super clean. Perfect location and fairly priced. STRONGLY RECOMMEND
Review 70:Perfect location coupled with beautiful grounds makes for a great stay. Marianna, the manager and her staff do a great job. Breakfast is terrific with a feast laid out for the guests. Do not miss a stay here!
Review 71:Horrible Weather, this really put a damper on our stay. We only booked one night, but wouldn't have stayed longer. The property is kept clean, and well decorated, but if the weather is wet suffers from dampness. (Casa Terezinha)
Review 72:Fine welcome, Faboulous Breakfast. Old house full of charm, very well maintained.
Review 73:Loved the location Mariana and her staff were all lovely always willing to help, and recommend places to eat and visit. This is one of the best places we have stayed in Portugal and would highly recommend it to anyone.
Review 74:Nothing at all. It was perfect. We simply regretted not to have booked the place for a whole week!!
Review 75:The generosity of our hosts who offered the four of us a fantastic breakfast because we were only staying for one night and they thought we wouldn't want to cook. The breathtaking views on Obidos. The beautiful garden.
Review 76:one night there were guests on the floor above which was very noisy.
Review 77:Excellent location just outside of Obidos castle. Mariana provided excellent service and recommended excellent restaurants nearby. We had a fully furnished 90m home (casa matilda). Beutiful grounds.
Review 78:A good base from which to plan visits to many interesting sites and Obidos itself. The B&B is a beautiful building with lovely antique furniture. The Manager is very helpful and readily answers any questions one may have.
Review 79:Beds are a little bit high, mattresses too soft.
Review 80:Mariana was friendly and helpful, even when we called her late at night. The restaurant recommendation was very good. The breakfast is superb.
Review 81:Hot water was not consistent. Otherwise very nice.
Review 82:Staff were very nice. Rooms had a lot of space. Restaurant recommendedby staff was very tasty and family friendly. Good location, good extrafacilities including pool, tennis court (racquets and balls availablefor free) and billiards table.
Review 83:A wonderful setting. We were personally greeted on arrival by the owner, Mariana. The accommodation was impeccable and very well laid out. Local information is provided, suggestions on places to eat, visit, etc. The surrounding views, especially of the walls of Obidos, were fantastic.
Review 84:The building was missing an elevator for second floor guests
Review 85:It was close to the city but very quiet. It had a pretty garden and the building was newly constructed.
Review 86:Bed a little hard, eccentric tap/showers
Review 87:Magnificent views , quiet and tranquil, tennis and pool enjoyable and free, lovely old house, and gardens, orchards and delightful rustic restaurants close by, pleasant international company for breakfast , all in all bucolic!
Review 88:Nothing comes to mind.
Review 89:A wonderful country manor with individually designed rooms, lovely furnishings, and great staff. The best hotel breakfast we've ever had: great selection of food, outstanding service and setting. Amazingly quiet, a beautiful and relaxing setting. A couple of very nice local restaurants within easy walking distance. All in all - a perfect stay. We will be back again and again!
Review 90:Mariana was an exceptionally friendly host as well as being very professional. She personally drove us to a birthday dinner.I loved the decor and attention to detail to create a stay in bygone days..
Review 91:Can't think of anything.
Review 92:The hotel Manager was extremely helpful and friendly she would suggest places to visit, book restaurants and all the staff were very pleasant. It couldn't have been more welcoming. The hotel was old and had lots of character, we had a lovely room with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious and would definately visit again.
Review 93:One of the best place I've ever stayed. Beautiful house, with an atmosphere, fully equipped with everything you might need. We stayed in 3-bedroom house - each bedroom had its own bathroom. The owner welcomed us with a drink and a cake even ;) Location is just perfect - 20 mins walk to Obidos, 10 mins to two nice restaurants.
Review 94:There is nothing to dislike
Review 95:Superb welcoming staff, fantastic location with beautiful tranquil gardens. Excellent breakfast with home made Quince jam and freshly baked croissants and an Expresso coffee to finish!
Review 96:Nothing!
Review 97:Fantastic house set amongst orchards but within easy reach of Obidas. Beautifully furnished in country house style. Very helpful and welcoming staff, excellent breakfast. Would love to stay longer.
Review 98:Rooms were a little cold and damp.
Review 99:Location was lovely just under the castle. Breakfast was extraordinary! I was ill and required a little TLC and it was given with great empathy.
Review 100:We want to thank above all Mariana for the nice hospitality. She is really a wonderful person to manage such a beautiful house in this landscape of Obidos. Beside of the charming hotel rooms there exist some very nice apartments for families in different sizes.
Review 101:A perfectly quiet but close location to the old city of Obidos. Charmingcottage; lovely, helpful hostess; and delicious breakfast (for 5 Euroextra). Our cottage was complete with sitting room and smallkitchenette, including a microwave. Wish we could return. Highlyrecommended.
Review 102:Wonderful location close to Obidos. View of the castle from the room.Excellent breakfast. Nice walk from the Casa d Obidos to the castle; asstated by the hosts, it's not as far as it looks. Hosts werehospitable, knowledgeable and helpful - we'd stay again. Onlypositives - thank you!
Review 103:It was a beautifully restored bed and breakfast with a great view of the castle. The breakfast was excellent. The inn keeper was incredibly friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay near the castle or a stopover when driving from Lisbon to Porto.
Review 104:the lady of the house was very helpful and kind, and proffessional. The Manor house was just delightful and well looked after, wonderful history. Spacious room and bathroom. Lots of character.
Review 105:Wanting to pay in cash, they weren't able to provide 20 Euro in change so we had no choice but to pay by credit card which was not our preference. Surely an establishment this size would have a cash float as we only needed 20 Euro in change.
Review 106:The self contained apartment, the property's location, aspect and outlook. The owner was a delightful lady and the manager helpfull and efficient.
Review 107:The breakfast was plentiful and good, but missed the eggs.
Review 108:Atmosphere. Nice welcome and information at arrival. Had a very good breakfast together with other guests.
Review 109:Nothing only that we could not stay another day.
Review 110:The most elegant and restful place we have stayed in all of Portugal. We liked the rest full feel of the home and excellent service of the staff. Elena was so very very kind to show us around the apartments which we will cherish for a very long time. Rick Sue Johnson
Review 111:Our travelling companions had an unfortunate situation, because ofprevious flooding in their room, their bed was damp and the airvery humid,Based on previous reviews, we expected to have the option of eggs for breakfast. Breakfast was certainly adequate, but some of us were looking forward to eggs.
Review 112:It is a beautiful casa with a great view of the walled city, Mariannewelcomed us with port wine and carrot cakes and we enjoyed a swim in thepool. Breakfast was superb.
Review 113:The apartment we stayed in (coach house) could use some more utensils and glasswear, and bathroom could use a fan (smells musty).
Review 114:We had a great stay. Good tip for parents with small children: you can order delicious meals from a couple of nearby restaurants (5 minute walk away). We stayed in the coach house, and so were able to eat our "take away" on the terrace just in front of our door while our son snoozed inside. Marianna is a great hostess, and knowledgeable about the area. You can walk to within the town walls in less than 12 minutes, and be at the castle in 15-20 minutes.
Review 115:A bit costly for what it offers as in our package the breakfast was not included. I saw some guests of the main house on the morning we left and it seems that only the guests which sleep in the main house rooms can have breakfast, but in the apartment there is a kitchen. Not suitable for the ones which want to stay just for 1 night as you have to lose time to buy stuff for breakfast and there are no bars/pastelerias nearby.
Review 116:Lovely quinta right outside Obidos (it's 10 minutes by car from the center). The place is awesome and very relaxing/quiet. When we arrived they offered some porto wine and a delicious handmade carrot cake.
Review 117:Room where I lived on a ground floor was damp. There was no TV. TV also didn't work in the living room. It was an oilcloth sheet on a mattress with the remains of another's hair. One more usial sheet was laid atop. Old electric and water networks.
Review 118:Breakfast is good. Pool is pleasant. Pure. Water is warmed up. The managing director Marianna is very kind. WiFi is available.
Review 119:A warm and informative welcome from Mariane to the beautiful Casa de Obidos. The location was better than expected - only 15 easy minutes by foot to Obidos itself, and with a friendly restaurant only 7 minutes away - the house is quietly set amongst orchards and fields. A very civilised and generous communal breakfast table enables conversation (if you want) with fellow guests. The table is replete with good bread, fruit, home made jams, ham, cheese and tempting cakes and sweetmeats, accompanying good coffee and fresh juices. Outside is a terrace, a tennis court and a swimming pool, with views from the gardens up to the impressive walls of the mediaeval town. Our room was a good size, pleasingly decorated, with a couple of comfy chairs, a desk, and a fine old bathroom. A wonderful Quinta. One of our very favourite places on an excellent holiday, and certainly the best breakfast we came across!
Review 120:Nothing. If I liked everything then there is nothing to dislike.
Review 121:Everything. The reception when we arrived, the room, the food, the environment. Everything.
