Reviews for Moinho da Ponte Velha
Review 1:If you have car-loads full of luggage, the stairways up and down can be cumbersome. But they help you with it
Review 2:The location beside this peaceful river is great. It is probably the hotel with the best style and taste in town. A beautiful restoration of an old mill. Staff is deliciously nice and attentive, even in the cautious preparation of your espresso. Rooms have good heating and excellent sanitary installations. I'll go back there if I ever come back to Bragança by car
Review 3:Needs better directions/address.
Review 4:Excellent accommodation. Clean & comfortable, large room. A little out of town and a little awkward to find but don't let put you off!!! Great continental breakfast too, almost as good as a full English!!
Review 5:The bed linens need to be updated
Review 6:It was a beautiful, architecturally interesting house by the river. It was quiet and serene and very close to bragança either by a longer walk or quick by car. The staff, Elsa, was fabulous. She was helpful for directions and very punctual for breakfast.
Review 7:In the last day, somebody did a big discharge on the river just downstream with a funny smell
Review 8:The location, quiet but within walking distance (20 min) of the city and restaurants Elsa, our hostess, was very welcoming. The rebuilt "Moinho" is fantastic
Review 9:Access road is not suitable for cars with low ride.
Review 10:This must be some kind of charity. To invest that kind of money to renovate an old mill and then to rent such beautiful rooms for only 55EUR...
Review 11:We enjoyed everything about our stay, Elsa was a great host, she lit the fire for us each day making the house lovely and warm. The location for us was perfect we love being by water. The place is easy to find if you go on google maps as the mill is pinpointed on there so there is no need to get lost..dog friendly and good wifi except in our bedroom where there wasn't a signal but it didn't rally matter as the rest of the house had a good signal
Review 12:- very hard to communicate in English - room smelling of cigarettes - hard to find (owner sends e-mail with info, not exactly easy to follow - instead, use GPS to get to Street Seixagal, then go to its east end and downhill) - difficult access and parking (steep hill)
Review 13:- a very nice building, excellent design - fully and nicely equipped (shared) kitchen - good wi-fi in (shared) living room - very clean - close to city, but in a nice, quiet location near a river
Review 14:The inn is extremely hard to find, so hard that it paralyzed my GPS. In a rental car whose fuel warning light had been on for some time, this was not amusing. And you can't explore the town from the inn without driving.
Review 15:It's a pretty place, located along a river bend in a tight and wooded valley. The rooms are spacious, clean and very private.
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:Building Position
Review 18:Quiet location, super friendly, great breakfast
Review 19:very small room with a very small window
Review 20:Beautiful location, unique' tastefuly decorated house
Review 21:Beautiful renovated mill/house and great rooms - gorgeous location in front of a small river (though hard to find). Very helpful staff.
Review 22:We totally enjoyed our stay here, it's fantastic!
Review 23:Difficult to find, road description is not complete Internet did not work during the evening, no one to fix, because owner not present
Review 24:Very nice new cottage friendly owner Nice breakfast
Review 25:Trying to find the place, GPS co-ordinates sends you to the other side of the ravine, aim for the yellow and white building and keep going. Only picked up the email with directions after we had arrived.
Review 26:Fantastic setting, deserves more than a 1 night stay
Review 27:... but very, very hard to find even for the GPS! We had to ask a taxi driver show us the way by driving in fromt of our car.
Review 28:Personal helpness, caring person, wonderful breakfast. Staff talked a little bit of English.
Review 29:even though we were warned that the venue is difficult to find and I had received special instructions from Lucilia on how to locate it, we manged to get lost. Depending on which way you approach the venue, SATNAV is not that helpful either. I'd recommend Lucília considers installing two bigger signs, one to replace the small illegible sign at the end of the road and one at the drive way to the venue itself. Also draw a map that can be forwarded to first time guests. Ken Haycock, Hythe, Kent, England Ken Haycock, Hythe, Kent, England
Review 30:the setting along the river is very tranquil, and the venue is cool during the heat of the day; very comfortable secure modern accommodation and a lovely retreat at the end of a day's journey. The staff is very friendly and our room and en suite were spotlessly clean. We were pleasantly surprised to find our beds had been made up and rooms tidied whilst we'd been out. Would've liked more time to relax at the venue. The restaurants and shops of Braganca are a few minutes drive or a 20-minute walk away. This gem is very good value for money. Review 31:Moinho is very difficult to locate, to the point that they set a meeting point at a nearby gas station. When you follow the inn keeper's car, you wonder if you are not falling in a trap. You drive through the suburbs, then pass by a dilapidated industrial operation, then down an unlit unpaved lane, to an unfinished parking area across the lane, down an untendered path to the entrance of Moinho.... Once inside, it gets better, but some of the wood floors are plastic, the view is towards the untendered garden, the bed has a thick plstic mattress protector that makes sleeping uncomfortable. We arrived late, and did not care to stay for breakfast....
Review 32:The innkeeper is smiling, and wellbehaved.
Review 33:As others have said, it is quite a challenge for a SatNav to find, but we were emailed good directions. A good thing to remember is that the property is down a steep unpaved track on the river bank. We had no trouble driving down this track (although my wife did say that she would not like to have driven it!).
Review 34:The property was superb value for money. Extremely well appointed rooms. Particularly liked the quiet location next to the stream and yet close to town. Host could not have been more helpful and friendly. We had a very tranquil and pleasant stay. This is an exceptional property.
Review 35:We got the room with very small windows and no view at all. The other rooms have much better views, so aks for one of those.
Review 36:We also had some difficulties finding it and finally took the GPS coordinates: N041°48.813' W006°44.105'
Review 37:No adverse comment
Review 38:This B&B is in a restored water mill just outside Braganca. It is a very attractive property and offers kitchen facilities for self catering, if desired, as well as providing enjoyable breakfasts. The riverside location is very peaceful and the general standard of the accommodation is very high. It is located in a steep-sided valley so the track leading to it is slightly "hairy" but not a real problem. Previous reviews have suggested it is difficult to find, but the owner's instructions are clear enough.
Review 39:It was difficult to find initially and the track down was unpaved and steep. But we'll worth the trouble.
Review 40:The converted mill was a little gem, beautifully appointed and better then " Kirsty and Phil" could ever find. Breakfast was magnificent.
Review 41:No iron but could not really fault.
Review 42:Excellent value for money. Setting -peaceful & unique. Service - could not fault. Open fire. Access to kitchen facilities. Clean & well maintained. Located well within short drive to shops -car essential.
Review 43:Cons: no hair dryer, our room had only a window at 6 feet high, tv withonly Portuguese channels, no ac, no Wi-Fi Internet in the room only inthe commons areas downstairs.
Review 44:We are a French couple from Montreal Canada, we did a trip of one monthin Portugal this last October 2013 and we stayed in 17 hotels. We stayedat this hotel 1 night October 9th 2013. Price: 50 Euros with a goodpersonal breakfast. This place is an old mill restore. The place isfantastic and the house offer in the commons areas: living room, kitchen, dining room, etc. Very nice but… it was not well indicated andwas impossible to find by our self. We had to call the owner and let usguided to the place while on line with her. We finally got there at theend of a gravel road with a steep scary slop. Arriving there, we did notwant to go out again for dinner because we did not want to come back inthe dark! Pros: wonderful commons areas, nice house with terrace, bigclean room, very good bathroom with a nice shower. We recommend thatplace only if you plan to arrive there during day time with your foodfor dinner.
Review 45:Extremely difficult to find!!! Hotel should make sure to provide a GOOD map as Google ones are hopeless, using a road that no longer exists.. Too far to walk to town/restaurants.
Review 46:This is an interesting B&B as it is a very modern design over an old mill (seen through glass floor plates). Very well appointed kitchen and lounge. Comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Breakfast good. Nice terrace.
Review 47:Difficult to find
Review 48:We stayed here on our first night during a two-week trip to Portugal. Finding the Moinho (mill) was a bit difficult - I would recommend that the owners put some better signs, especially since the last part of the road is a dirt road that doesn't look like it really goes anywhere. But once there, it is a beautiful spot; the house itself is a very modern rendition with lots of space, a big fridge to store your water (or wine...). Our room was large and spotless; good bed. The breakfast was copious and good. The lady who was there was very helpful and friendly. I would certainly recommend this while in Branganca, even if it is a bit out of the way (you do need a car if you stay here). Excellent value for money.
Review 49:Slightly tricky to find & no pool which would have been good as it was very hot when we were there. Otherwise no dislikes.
Review 50:Beautiful modern design on old mill. Very comfortable with all amenities of modern house & made to feel welcome. Good breakfast & recommended excellent restaurant. Delightful & would stay there again.
Review 51:It's a bit tricky to find a way to the site, some signs at the end would be more than helpful.
Review 52:Excellent design, waste kitchen and living room with fireplace in a completely renewed old mill. Excellent price/performance!
Review 53:Rough access road with steep drives.
Review 54:Excellent and interesting building in a beautiful setting. Good facilities and extremely helpful host.
Review 55:Unique location, relatively close to the castle (do need a car!). Very spacious accomodation and great host.
Review 56:Parking areas should be improved.
Review 57:Perfect house. Beautiful rooms and design. Staff is wonderful everything was perfect. For sure I will return!
Review 58:Lacking in welcome
Review 59:Beautiful; location lovely design /decor

Review 62:The rooms are big and very comfotable, the breakfast is delicious and the place is so nice and close to the town.
Review 63:Don't miss the opportunity and visit Gimonde village.
Review 64:Grotty 2km walk to Braganza town centre.
Review 65:New luxury family-style house in peaceful location on the river bank. Excellent breakfast.
Review 66:Very friendly and available staff. The hotel is very comfortable, with ainteresting design and excellent location right by the river.
