Reviews for City Centre Hotel Mabi Maastricht

Review 1:The room was a little "tired" looking, though it was clean. Creaking floors in the room above was irrational,

Review 2:Very good location for shopping and the town centre

Review 3:All good

Review 4:Hotel was in a central position with easy access to overnight parking. The greeting very welcoming and rooms comfortable. The hotel used to be a theatre and they have maintained the theme which made it a pleasant experience exploring the various rooms. Breakfast was good. It offered many extra little touches gratius such as afternoon tea, happy hour drinks just to name a few. Would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you

Review 5:The uncliness of the bedroom and in general of the hotel. The horrible breakfast with a extremely expensive price for a very very poor quality.

Review 6:The location

Review 7:Excellent Location, lovely little details like the afternoon tea and cake, the wine and tapas, friendly staff. Our second visit and didn't disappoint.

Review 8:We arrived at the hotel 15 minutes earlier than the check in time. At the reception counter, a young lady said the room was not ready. We were tired and decided to wait for a while. Two minutes later another lady approached and helped us to check in immediately.

Review 9:The hotel locates in a quiet lane of the city center, providing both convenient access and good sleep quality.

Review 10:I find the breakfast offered - choice for 15 Euro much overpriced, even for Maastricht. A choice of toiletries, especially would be good. TV set is really small

Review 11:Clean simple room, good location, comfortable soft (!) beds

Review 12:The room was not properly cleaned and the photos looked deceiving. There was a big contrast between how the entrance and dining room looked and the bedroom.

Review 13:Great location (right in the Markt).

Review 14:Matrasses were a bit too soft but maybe that's normal in Limburg(?) The hotel was quite noisy, the door to the main corridor should be better insulated.

Review 15:Perfect location, big double bed, clean, a lot of nice extra's like free coffee & pie, wine, apples etc. Good price.

Review 16:The breakfast was extremely expensive (we did not take it) and the wifi was not working at all during the nights.

Review 17:The hotel was really nice, affordable and in a very very good location (in the center ot the city)

Review 18:Doors of the shower are getting a bit old and rusty. They make a lot of noise. The hairdryer also makes a lot of noise. Cannot think of any other negative remark

Review 19:Hotel gives sweets, fruit, wine, tea etc for free. Gives a very welcome feeling. Location of the hotel is perfect.

Review 20:We loved the ambience of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. The Titanice room was a fun and roomy place for all 4 of us to stay comfortably. We would absolutely stay there again in the future.

Review 21:staff stood outside smoking when we arrived. The rooms are not inviting at all. No tea/coffee making facilities, very noisy and cold

Review 22:the breakfast room

Review 23:The service was exceptionally helpful. For that alone I would stay there again. Location was perfect and my 10 year old son enjoyed the free movies. Breakfast was ok and certainly worth the convenience. But if you have time, I would suggest walking across the main square to Fab, where you can get a fantastic and copious breakfast for 10 Euros.

Review 24:---

Review 25:Very friendly and professional staff. Gluten and carb free options on demand for breakfast. Good geographical position in the heart of the historical centre and shopping area. Parking facility at 30 m. Good WIFI connection.

Review 26:The unexpected extras such as coffee and apple pie, wine and olives, fruit, candies and access to cinema room to see old classic films - all complimentary!!!

Review 27:The hotel is on a side street just off the main square allowing both convenience and quietness. If arriving by car factor in the cost of parking in a city centre car park (€24 per day) but we still thought the overall cost was reasonable. We only stayed overnight to break a long drive but checked in just in time to enjoy the free "help yourself" wine hour, a great way to unwind and the wine was very good. Our room was small and a bit dark but the hotel is well run and fine for a short visit.

Review 28:The bed was TERRIBLE!! I don't believe it was a mattress, maybe foam...it was one of the worst beds I've slept on. The hallway was very loud, you could hear all of the conversations from the hall, in the room. But if no one was in the hall it was quiet in the room. It's the Netherlands, so there's maybe more partying than other places and the hotel can't help what people do or how they behave in the hall.

Review 29:The location and staff were great! The room was super clean and smelled great. The staff was so nice and helpful. You couldn't ask for a better location.

Review 30:What purpose is a safe when not bolted to a wall or to the floor? Floor bath mat was an old torn towel. Never consistent of leaving the proper number of towels and also one day get a water bottle and one day provided with none. Need to have a consistent room check with the accessories and towels provided. Also wifi in hotel was not very good.

Review 31:Location was good.

Review 32:No dinner facilities but plenty restaurants just round the corner.

Review 33:Central, yet quiet location, a pleasant room with a good bathroom, very helpful staff, free apples every day, free tea/coffee & cake mid-afternoon, free glass of wine later, a good, varied breakfast. What more could one ask for?

Review 34:Nothing

Review 35:Great hotel in a wonderful location. I loved the decor and the old movie theater style of the entire place. The afternoon pie was great! I didn't try breakfast so I can't comment on that. Location is perfect, right in the middle of everything.

Review 36:Very noisy rooms, hairdryer next room sounds like vacuüm cleaner, doors slamming, showers running..everything could be heard. Terrible! Cinema info not correct, slapstick shown in afternoon.

Review 37:Excellent location.

Review 38:Bed sheets were stained which we only noticed after we slept on them. Receptionist did not asked how our stay was and since the 'damage' was already done we didn't mention. Make you think though to come back or not.

Review 39:Awesome location. Special hotel with the movie theme. Lovely to get vlaai koffie en wine with olives.

Review 40:No air conditioning (just a little fan on the desk) and the window could not be fully opened. It was way too warm.

Review 41:Cinema-inspired decorations, location, complimentary apples, shower gel, toothpaste..etc

Review 42:The staff were excellent and very accommodating! There was gluten free bread available on request and many complimentary extras such as movies and wine. A hotel with character.

Review 43:No air condition and our room was on the second floor, we requested an upper room, on a very busy street. Needing to have the windows open the street noise was consistent. The street is a one-way street into the plaza and used by many types of vehicles.

Review 44:The location to the old city center.

Review 45:Comfortable room and hotel, very near the market place with many good restaurants. The cinema theme is carried through in an imaginative way. Nice afternoon treat of Limberger pie. We would certainly choose this hotel again.

Review 46:Although the bed was comfortable, the pillows were lumpy

Review 47:Excellent location. Good breakfast choice. Comfortable bed. Decent shower. Lots of nice extras - free wine and olives, cake and coffee.

Review 48:Only the wifi was very slow and even sometimes couldn't connect.

Review 49:Very clean. Central to the city center and even to the train station. Comfortable. Staff were extremely nice and welcoming. Hotel was very beautiful. Loved everything.

Review 50:Pillows were rather small and a bit lumpy.

Review 51:Some nice touches such as the complimentary Limburger pie and coffee between 4-5pm and wine and olives between 6-7pm.

Review 52:Parking in Maastricht is tough, and expensive.

Review 53:The excellent attention to cinematic detail as it used to be one of Maastricht's cinema houses; the coolness factor and the location, of course, right in the middle of the city.

Review 54:Parking !. 25 Euros for overnight parking in the Public car park is extortionate.

Review 55:Warm welcome with good English spoken. Central Location. Free coffee and bites on arrival and in the evening free wine.

Review 56:They have a lot of small details but unfourtunately the basics were dissapointing. Mattress was extremely soft and we struggle to sleep. Woke up with backache next morning.

Review 57:Great location for a city trip. Cozy hotel with a lot of attention to detail: coffee, pie, apples, ice creams, etc!

Review 58:No air con and the room is warmer than outside temp which is not pleasant in summer months.

Review 59:Great location, comfy bed, good sized shower with food water pressure.

Review 60:The staff are most welcoming and helpful. The quirkiness of the hotel is an attraction and as we had stayed here before it was our obvious choice when booking Andre's concert

Review 61:needed air conditioning for the hot days. fan supplied but could be little noisy overnight.

Review 62:the little luxury's. coffee and cake in afternoon and the free apples and ice-cream if wanted.

Review 63:A small quirky hotel which was perfectly located for the purpose of our visit located in the old town near to the market place. The room was comfortable and despite previous reviews so was the bed. Small touches such as coffee and cake plus a free wine hour added to the charm. Breakfast was good, the staff were helpful and friendly all of which added to the enjoyment of our overall visit. Don't forget to collect your free apple each day.

Review 64:No air con, fan in room just circulates the hot air! Room way overpriced due to Rieu concerts. Uncomfortable bed & pillows. No tea/ coffee making facilties in room. Tiny bathroom. Would rather have a decent night's sleeep in a decent sized room than all the "freebies" that were on offer. Even though the room was booked at least eight months in advance of the Rieu concert, the room allocated was dated, dark & dreary & certainly not 4 star standard. Maybe it was because I was a solo traveller they kept the best room for me!!! ( my lucky friends stayed elsewhere). Wont stay here again. .

Review 65:Good location, close to Vrijthof. Staff friendly.

Review 66:The wifi signal is not very strong in the room.

Review 67:Excellent location, close to the city center. Staff are friendly. Breakfast is good. Supplies of free ice cream available.

Review 68:WiFi does not work reliably.

Review 69:Hotel is located close to the market square and the river Maas. Most other sightseeing spots are also within walking distance.

Review 70:If was a extremely warm night and the single fan didn't help much. Air conditioner would have made such a difference.

Review 71:The attention to detail was special. The apples, coffee-on-the-go and so much more.

Review 72:No tea/coffee facilities in the room. Pillows were lumpy.

Review 73:Fab location. Loved all the free little extras such as wine and olives each evening; and coffee and pie in the afternoon. Also ice lollies.

Review 74:This was a great hotel in an excellent location, close to the river and the market square, and easy to walk to many cafes and restaurants. It had a great sense of style; the black horse in the foyer was a quirky addition. We loved the free Limburg pie and coffee in the afternoons and the free olives and wine in the evenings. Also the free ice-blocks, apples and water at any time.

Review 75:The hotel is unfortunately extremely warm and especially at this time of the year. They provide fans but there is no air conditioning in the bed rooms which can be uncomfortable .

Review 76:Very quirky hotel, friendly staff, fantastic location and some really lovely added touches_ such as wine hour and olives, coffee and cake hour or movies on in the little theatre etc

Review 77:The location central for shopping and great for vrijohft square, rooms comfortable, clean, staff friendly. I liked the fact that their was a lift. It's own cinema was worth a visit faulty towers, Charlie Chaplin , ice cream as well. From four pm there is tea and cake yummy you have to try it.. I loved my stay in hotel Mabi will use again when I'm next in Maastricht...

Review 78:Paid a lot extra money for our 3 night stay because of the Andre Rieu concert. No breakfast included which was a real shame and a bit mean. The breakfast on the 1st morning was only average and definitely not worth the 15 euro that we paid.

Review 79:The staff were all great and helpful. Location , excellent.

Review 80:Would have prefered a bath rather than shower but it was only for 5 nights so ok.

Review 81:The location was perfect as my wife has knee problems and can't walk long distances. It was nice to enjoy the tea/coffee, wine, fruit etc. We enjoyed the cinema - that was novel. We hope to go again next year

Review 82:Cannot fault a thing!

Review 83:All the nice little touches - toothbrushes, full size tube of toothpaste, shaving kit, bath rose (sponge)?, in addition to the usual shower gel, shampoo etc - all free just in case you forget something. The small cinema is acute unique experience. Staff were all lovely and helpful

Review 84:Nothing bad at all to report.

Review 85:Loved the Mabi hotel, lovely room with very comfortable bed, nice bathroom. Breakfast was extra but well worth the money - excellent value. Enjoyed the free coffee and limburg pie at 4pm each day, plus loved the free gift given on our arrival. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was close to restaurants and if you are going to see Andre Rieu in the square it is only a 10 minute walk at the most. Hotel also has a little movie theatre showing old comedy shows, which my husband enjoyed.

Review 86:On the morning we were leaving I noticed that the stuffing was pouring out of my pillow. On looking inside there was a huge split in the inner seam. I had noticed that, although the bedding was crisp and white the pillow cases looked very old.

Review 87:This was an ideal location for our needs. We were particularly grateful for the fan in the bedroom as the temperatures were soaring and it would have been difficult to sleep with out it. The free pie, coffee, wine etc and ice lollies and apples were a lovely gesture.

Review 88:The in-room safe was locked already on arrival and not available for use. When advising reception we were told that it would be 'opened' by a technical person the next morning - but it was not. As we were only there for 2 nights it was of no use to us during our stay which was inconvenient.

Review 89:The location, cleanliness and comfortable beds.

Review 90:Helpful staff . location, good toiletries in bathroom including tooth brushes and tooth paste. The weather during our stay was very hot staff ensured we had a fan in the room.

Review 91:No tea and coffee facilities in the room. Pillows were strange and lumpy.

Review 92:The free little extras- nice freebies in the bathroom, wine and olives each evening; and coffee and pie each afternoon. Ice lollies and apples that you could help yourself to.

Review 93:Comfortable hotel, well located ,very clean bathroom.Hottest weekend on record and fans were supplied in each room which was very welcome.Enjoyed the wine and olives provided in the after no,nice breakfast.

Review 94:The weather was incredibly hot so we really appreciated the free glasses of water at the reception desk, the free ice lollies and the fans in the bedrooms. Oh, and the daily free wine and olives of course! Lovely, quirky hotel, convenient for Vrijthof, where we went to the Andre Rieu concert, and amazingly quiet at night so we were able to sleep peacefully.

Review 95:All the extra's you get bump the price up. The main problem with this Hotel is No Aircon any where in the hotel. The day we stayed the temp out side was over 100deg F. My room was over 85 and the lift was like stepping into an oven. The room did have a small fan to move the hot air about. When asked about aircon i was told, not needed for the odd week of good weather but other's did have it. I will not return to this hotel.

Review 96:The hotel was in a very very good location with lots of extra's

Review 97:Central location. Lively decor. Small and friendly hotel. Great price. Guests are treated to complimentary coffee and cake, wine and olives, apples, sweets, water, ice lollies and even a farewell gift pack on checking out. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 98:The location was in the centre, rooms were well equipped with Rituals in the bathroom. One of the most elaborate breakfast I ever had in the Netherlands!

Review 99:Couldn't get Wifi in the room. Parking off site in underground garage of a shopping centre 25 Euros a day.

Review 100:Very central close to market, good restaurants and shopping.

Review 101:Small, stuffy rooms with boardinghouse look and feel. Seems like the hotel tries to compensate for outdated rooms by offering plenty of free handiuts (coffee, pie, candy, toothpaste) but the effort fails to impress. All I want is a good, comfortable room.

Review 102:Reception decor is appealing. Location is in the middle of the city.

Review 103:- 14,5 euros for brekfast is too much (cf. in Paris you pay 10 euros for lunch - entree, plat du jour, dessert) - room - I booked my room in April, I asked twice via e-mail for a room with a very good wi-fi connection as I was supposed to be in Maastricht for scientific conference; unfortunately the wifi did not work (there is a very good wifi but you cannot get the access to the IP - they should work over IP distribution to the computers). Fortunately, they offered my another room, wifi was ok, however still, in the morning, for 2-3 hours it was not available for my computer (IP-problem) I asked for the invoince for my university - one person had to correct it twice as she was not accurate enough or too much in a hurry. However, she was very patient with my request and very helpful.

Review 104:+ localisation very close to the historical city center, close to Maastricht university, close (10 minute walk) to the Train Station + breakfast + you can take a coffee to your room + a small snack (goffre etc.) + luggage room + nice and helpful personel + room (a second one I received, the first one was too small and dark, with poor or no wifi connection) + clean, comfortable + the concept of the hotel itself + a very useful package of information on Mabi Hotel available at your room

Review 105:The movie room was great, with old movies fitting the motif of the hotel. I loved the happy hour - free wine and 'hapjes'. The street is quiet, but is just next to the main square on one side and the river on the other.

Review 106:Walls/floors are thin - could hear a lot of walking above and in the hallway. It would be nice for them to figure out how to include breakfast - 15pp is a lot!

Review 107:Location was excellent. Quad room was huge! Loved the apples and pie.

Review 108:Parking is a big problem, after arriving at the hotel the instruction to get to the parking were not clear. They should have a drawing showing the way to the parking.

Review 109:The room. And the coffee with cake in the afternoons.

Review 110:bottled water was expencive

Review 111:Location very good to the town centre. Under ground Car parking very close in the new shopping area. And the Hotel Converted Cinema, fantastic film theme in the décor. a very nice touch with the serve yourself all day Coffee, custard flan in the afternoon and the wine and olives at 18.00, and the selection sweet area take a hand full and visit to the Cinema if you like the good old fashioned comedy, but you must have the right sense of humour. Well worth it.

Review 112:What's not to like?

Review 113:Friendly staff; immaculate, large rooms; easy to get there from the airport via the free shuttle (a joy to use!). Everything was spotless; everything worked; -- this was nothing less than an amazing hotel experience!

Review 114:The wifi was poor for I Pad and Smartphones and the breakfast expensive and not very expansive in relation to all the other facilities they provide.

Review 115:The friendly staff, the little extra comforts they provide, the decor, the excellent rate and the lengths they went to in order to provide service.

Review 116:- carpet floors - wall-mounted hairdryer did only work for seconds at a time; however, functioning hairdryer was provided upon request

Review 117:- centrally located - spacious family room - very generous complemetary toiletries including toothbrushes and regular sized toothpaste - friendly front desk staff

Review 118:Schwierige Parksituation, allerdings ist das nächste Parkhaus nicht weit entfernt (25€/Tag).

Review 119:Sehr nette Atmosphäre und der Sekt am Frühstücksbufet war eine willkommene Geste!

Review 120:However, we were given completely wrong information about arrangements to the airport. We had three suitcases , one rather large as we were bringing my daughter's winter clothes home from school .we had to carry the bags up three flights of stairs. Someone was to be at our room at 8am to carry to the bags. No one was available . Our room was extremely hot, but we had beautiful windows which we opened . The cooling breeze carried with it a heavy aroma of frying grease. Ugh

Review 121:Location and ambiance, splendid. Staff extremely caring and very happy

Review 122:This hotel knows how to treat their guests to the max. Lots of lovely little things that make you feel welcome, from sweets in the lobby, coffee and cake to wine and olives in the hotel bar/restaurant. Facilities in the hotel room were very nice and well presented. I would definitely go back here and recommend it to everyone!

Review 123:Breakfast was a bit basic and not very special; relatively expensive for what you got and if you compare it to other hotels who charge the same amount. The WIFI was very touch and go, especially in the rooms. It worked a dream in the lobby area though.

Review 124:The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location is perfect and even though you are in the middle of Maastricht, it is very quiet at night. Very good service and very much appreciated that the hotel offered complimentary drinks.

Review 125:Room was fair but had poor lighting and WiFi was very inconsistent.

Review 126:Very good location for railway access and touring local sights and shopping. Quaint hotel on street level and motion picture theme was interesting.

Review 127:Parking is under the adjacent shopping center and not the easiest to locate, the hotel is on a small street without a lot of parking so checking in was a little awkward but no big deal.

Review 128:great location! love the movie theme and the small theater showing movies a few times per day! great breakfast, room and wifi were nice without any issues! Love the location right off one of the main squares and easy to walk all around Maastricht! my new favorite place to stay in Maastricht!

Review 129:The WiFi signal was a bit weak, therefore it was a bit difficult to browse on the internet. The hotel hasn`t got any parking place, so we had to park in the parking house in the surrounding for 25 euros/day, which i find very expensive.

Review 130:The breakfast was very good.

Review 131:We were not aware where to turn the heat on and we were cold in the room. Would be better to be warm and open from before we check in the room.

Review 132:The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The staff very nice and friendly. I would stay again.

The Fine Print

Please note that the free coffee with Limburg pie is served between 16:00 and 17:00. Wines and olives are served from 18:00 until 19:00. The movies are shown daily at 20:00.
