Reviews for Dormy Inn Express Matsue

Review 1:The bedroom was a bit small, but this was compensated by the efficiency of the equipments.

Review 2:The Breakfast was really great, except that some elements of the buffet were not replaced. Excellent quality of the service and the free noodles in the evening !

Review 3:Nothing

Review 4:good location, free noodle in the evening, the breakfast was good, the staff are nice, we forgot the tablet in the room and the staff informed us by booking.com, finally they sent back to our next hotel without delivery charge, thank Dormy inn :)

Review 5:NONE

Review 6:*Staff is kind and sweet :D *Location is good to walk from JR station *love the location also close to Shimane Art Museum *breakfast is so delicious :D *enjoy my stay !

Review 7:A little far from station. No convenience store near by.

Review 8:Breakfast is very good compare to other business hotel. nice staff. Late night noodle is a plus for long day trip.

Review 9:Even for Japan the rooms were unusually small. There was barely place for our luggage. In comparison the room rate was tremendous.

Review 10:Friendly staff and clean rooms.

Review 11:Very modern hotel and the location is near several dining spots, the train station was also very near. Free Wifi throughout the hotel and the breakfast menu was quite good.

Review 12:It would be nice to have a safe box in the room.

Review 13:The location is perfect : a couple of minutes from the train station and the tourist information centre. The room is small but well organized , if you don't have a lot of luggage you will not feel crumped. The breakfast (mostly japanese food) is very good and the soba noodles offer at night is a nice touch. All the staff members are very friendly. I would certainly go back to this hotel.

Review 14:Well, the double bed is small, but then this is Japan.

Review 15:Very good breakfast with good selection of both Japanese food and Western food. The free noodle bar in the evening is a real treat.

Review 16:A really nice hotel, close to the train station (5 minutes walk) and to the other places in town (15 minutes far to the castle by walk). A really nice and kind staff which found me the adaptor Europe-Japan for the electricity that I forgot!

Review 17:No complaints.

Review 18:Convenient location near Matsue train station. Nice, simple breakfast selection -- we really enjoyed the noodle soup for breakfast. Rooms appear to be new; they are clean and in good condition. The TV in the shower gave us a good laugh. Good value for money.

Review 19:Nothing.

Review 20:Everything perfect. And you get free bowl of ramen as of 9.30pm. Amazing hotel in walking distance of castle and just five minutes walk from JR station.

Review 21:No public bath / onsen. Compared to the amazing value for money of Green Rich Hotel (right opposite), here you get a bed / room that is small and you pay Tokyo room prices even though you are in Matsue.

Review 22:Location is great. Near Matsue station, restaurants and shops. Staff are great. Hotel is the usual Japan level of business hotel therefore very clean and good, but you get the bare minimum compared to similar hotels in the same price range.

Review 23:The bed is too small for two people. The room is very compact, which mean there is no enough space to move and put luggages.

Review 24:Location is very close to train station, only 5 minutes walking. Many restaurants/food stalls choices in surrounding area. TV is installed in shower room, although we didn't watch it anyway. But it's cool! Breakfast was plenty and tasty.

Review 25:Hard to find fault with this hotel. Compact but very functional rooms. Everything provided. Best buffet breakfast. Very helpful staff. Less that five minutes stroll to the station. Outstanding. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 26:Room is very small (but not too small, and I guess normal for Japanese standards???)

Review 27:Western-style beds. Free charger for iPhone/Android, and at the reception they gave me an adapter for my laptop. Next to the bathtub there's a waterproof TV set :-) Breakfast was ok, mostly Japanese

Review 28:Breakfast wasn't really convincing.

Review 29:Small rooms Dormy style, comfortable and clean. But there is no public bath and sauna as in other Dormy Inns. So just a good business hotel, near railway station.

Review 30:The location was great (& easy to find) and the personnel very kind. The hygienic standard in Japan is over the top anyway, but still: the room & the bathroom were spotless. Some comments did say, that the rooms were rather on the small side for the price - which I have to agree with - but this is Japan, that's simply how they live. I only stayed for one night, so the size of the room did not matter to me. Good to know info: They actually offer free (!) usage of the washing machine (+ dryer).

Review 31:The hotel is located just a couple blocks from the JR station so it's very convenient. Great facilities, nice staff and the room was awesome ! There was even a small tv screen in the bathtub. Breakfast was really complete and the staff were great.

Review 32:As an 'Express', the hotel was missing the public baths that feature at many other Dormy Inns, but that was made clear before the reservation was made. However, the bath contained within the room was disappointingly shallow and (because of an inbuilt seat) uncomfortable compared with most Japanese baths - even those in other business hotels.

Review 33:The facilities surpassed even the Dormy Inn chain's usual high standards. The hotel looked fresh and well looked after, the staff were bright, the room was fitted out with good tv/stereo/drinks-making kit, the bed was much bigger than usual and the breakfasts were great value.

Review 34:The room was smaller than the average single hotel room I've stayedin, and the hotel was a little further than I would've liked fromthe major attractions like that castle.

Review 35:The room was clean and modern with unexpected amenities like an iPhonespeaker dock and a jacuzzi-type device for the bath. There was also afree late-night soba bar and delicious local soba noodles included inthe breakfast buffet. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I washonestly surprised by how much I enjoyed my stay here. (I do speakfluent Japanese, though, so my stay might be different from the averageforeigner.)

Review 36:Bathroom, which included a lovely bathtub with a seat, plus a portable planetarium and TV. Excellent breakfast. Complimentary beverages in lobby included corn silk tea, which was very tasty. Very comfortable bed.

Review 37:A little too expensive for a solo traveler to do too often on a sightseeing trip

Review 38:All of the extras were really nice: free laundry, free noodle soup at night, really nice bathroom appliances, katana/slippers, wifi, breakfast was great

Review 39:We stayed while a typhoon was coming so spent more time in our room than normal - and loved it. Super clean, finally an iPod Dock to play our own music, great bathroom, laundry facilities excellent, ice dispensers on a few floors. All japanese hotel staff seem great, but these guys were next level friendly and helpful. We forgot our bags on check in so a guy came literally running to our room with them. Free welcome coffee in lobby, free soup at 11pm, super close to train station, quiet. Just darn brilliant. We still go on about how great it was. Price (think about 100US equiv?) was what we paid in tokyo hotels. If you go to matsue, stay there.

Review 40:Instructions in the laundry only in Japanese. It was a matter of push buttons and hope for the best.

Review 41:No smoking! Free coffee in the lobby. Free noodles in the evening. Great free wi-fi. Twin room just lovely. Free use of laundry. Only 5 minute walk to station. Yummy Japanese breakfast.

Review 42:On your booking, only semi double room for two were available due to a big festival in Matsue, on the first night. That was too tight in space. I asked for twin room for the second night and they did. That room was just excellent.

Review 43:Other than my comment on the right this is very nice hotel to stay.

Review 44:Room very small and looks onto brick wall half a metre away. Wi fi not encrypted..this is true of all Dormy Inns Lift not secure ..anyone can use it.

Review 45:Sound system through which one could play iPod Good breakfast with good plain yoghurt available Good location ..close to station but still within walking distance of castle area

Review 46:I can't complain really...I knew the room was small when I booked it. It's an Express Hotel aimed at Japanese businessmen so that's what you get as far as room size.

Review 47:We loved the free laundromat, the great breakfast, the young, enthusiastic staff, the telly in the shower (hilarious!), morning coffee in the lobby, iced tea in the afternoon, fabulous location near railway station.

Review 48:-bedroom boring and small (in contrast to bathroom which is very small too but with lovely-funny details) -television at the head of the bed = no use :(

Review 49:-staff is very friendly and helpful -bathroom, lovely with television and toys :) = fun -fun: the free noodles at night creates a fun atmosphere, everybody was giggling and laughing :) -good breakfast buffet (japanese and western) - free laundry possibilities !

Review 50:The view from my window was blocked by a wall. It was less than 1 m. from my window. I even couldn't see the sky. This should have been mentioned in the description of the room.

Review 51:Location

Review 52:- not very good location in terms of restaurants and surroundings

Review 53:- close to the train station - clean, good design and rather cheap - free noodles in at night

Review 54:Dormy Inn Matsue's double room much too small, one bed for two only 130 cm narrow, bath tub tiny, should never be offered for two adults.

Review 55:Close to the JR railway station, free "ramen" noodles after 21:30 o'clock, modern appearance.

Review 56:Almost nothing dislike.

Review 57:Free Soba noodle every night. Very close to Matsue station. Friendly staff and cleanness.

Review 58:Very close to the station, nice, very clean and very well equiped.

Review 59:Bed is very narrow

Review 60:Close to station Nice personnel Included breakfast and midnight snack

Review 61:Room was a bit small, but it did the job.

Review 62:Clean, friendly staff, nice facilities, and convenient location just a short walk from Matsue Station.

Review 63:Location close to rail station, great breakfast with both Japanese and Western, room good size with two chairs and coffee table, large bathroom.

Review 64:Over valued pricing

Review 65:Room facility better due to new hotel?

Review 66:Bed small, no TV5

Review 67:A bit overpriced for size and comfort of room

Review 68:friendly helpful staff.

Review 69:The Onsen was excellent

Review 70:Twin room especially large, window with view, laundry facilities, convenient location near station, interesting breakfast buffet.

Review 71:Wish the pillow were more comfortable

Review 72:Free late evening noodle; free laundry; terrific breakfast

Review 73:N/A

Review 74:The area for the hotel room is quite large, and the location is also excellent, it is near by to the JR Matsue station.

Review 75:For a double room, the bed was quite small.

Review 76:Free ramen snack at night!

Review 77:No view from window

Review 78:Location, close to main station

Review 79:Rooms are adequate but a bit small when you have luggage.

Review 80:Location, Modern, Guest laundry

Review 81:The free noodle bar in the evening was great!

Review 82:bed too small

Review 83:duck for bathing~ shampoo & body wash are super

Review 84:The double is a little to small, and we're not big people.

Review 85:Room is too small. There is no space for baggages.

Review 86:Kindness and service

Review 87:Location Cleanliness Laundry Buffet bfast Price

Review 88:Close to the JR Station, TV in bathroom, separated bedding area.

Review 89:Luxury room

Review 90:Friendly Staff, Clean Hotel, Car Park one minute away, Good location near Matsue Station about 15 minutes's walk to the castle

Review 91:nothing

Review 92:Room had a good size Parking behind the hotel Free noodles at night nice bathroom with small bath starlight simulator

Review 93:Bathroom top, staff very friendly, breakfast very tasty and many options.

Review 94:the rooms were smaller than normal

Review 95:the location was so close to the train station. food was good. the amenities in the room were more than usual

Review 96:Small room, BUT nice view from the window.

Review 97:Terrific breakfast and location. You can see the hotel sign from the front of the train station.

Review 98:Nothing, it was all great

Review 99:The hotel is an easy walk from the station. The staff were friendly & helpful. The accommodation was excellent, particularly the spa bath. Breakfast was one of the best we've had and the staff were gorgeous

Review 100:You have to hand in your room card when you go out in the morning, and you're not really wanted around again until 15:00. Strange and unique procedure with receipts; keep any when you check in; they'll want one of them again when you check out; it will be exchanged for a printed one. No view and very little natural light; I kept the blinds drawn.

Review 101:Most efficient use of space (only 13 sq metres) of any business hotel I've stayed in. Excellent but tiny bathroom; even has its own TV. Lots of amenities e.g. iPod dock, phone charger, DVD player. Better storage than most business hotels. In-room WiFi - free, good speed (4 Mbps downloads), but not encrypted. Good location and good value.

Review 102:This Dormy Inn does not have a public bath. Breakfast was a bit slim.

Review 103:It is close to the railroad station. I would have given it an excellent rating on the facilities as they are very nice, except for lacking a bath. It did have an in-room bath. Smoking was restricted to a small smoking room.

Review 104:Instant light on plus glass small window, both in bathroom - not good for two people if one uses the bathroom while the other is sleeping. Could use more laundry equipment. Western breakfast offerings limited.

Review 105:Beds. Bathroom. Spaciousness of twin room.

Review 106:Parking space wasn't obvious (garage down the street). We paid for parking at the hotel and received a parking ticket, but the amount on it was insufficient for exit, sloppy...

Review 107:Very comfortable room, great value for money, nice location; the lake and Matsue castle are within walking distance, plenty of dining opportunities.

Review 108:Room is small, but that's normal for a Japanese business hotel.

Review 109:Clean and efficient. Good location, close to the station for out of town trips, but still within walking distance of the city sights. Extensive breakfast.

Review 110:The very close blank wall view of the next building out of the window. However, as we were out and about all the time this didn't really matter

Review 111:The hotel was modern and very clean. The staff were very helpful although not speaking much English. The location was perfect for the station and local restaurants. The small room was very well equipped.

Review 112:Not being able to turn out the hall light at night.

Review 113:We liked all the new facilities arailable. The breakfast was excellent, the free nightly noodles and the star sky projector were great.

Review 114:Hotel is first rate. As usual in Japan rooms are small but they are exceptionally well equipped. Appreciated laundry facilities and evening noodle snack. 2 blocks from train station; good for base to explore this beautiful area.

Review 115:Excellent and brand new hotel. Very close to train station. about 10 minutes walk from the matsue lake. Good value for money. Clean and loaded with gadgets (including a lamp that make start of the celing :) )

Review 116:Staff doesn't really speak English

Review 117:Brand new, clean, lots of gadgets in the room perhaps to forget it is pretty small (tv in the bathtub, starlight...), well equipped and 2 steps from Matsue station

Review 118:It seemed that Matsue does not get as many international travelers asthe larger cities in Japan. In comparison to staff in hotels in othercities, the Matsue hotel staff had fewer English skills. Nevertheless, they were very friendly and accommodating.

Review 119:- Close to jr station- Exceptionally clean - New building with no smoking - TV in bath tub area - Fridge in room - Quiet

Review 120:There was nothing I did not like.

Review 121:I really liked the convenient location and ease at which you can find the hotel as it is clearly signposted (in English). The staff were most helpful and very friendly. I thought the free oranges at the elevators were a nice touch too. Breakfast was great too!

Review 122:Perhaps the staff could speak a little more English but perhaps foreign tourists are not such a big market for them. Otherwise they were extremely helpful and tried as best they could. The manager did speak pretty good English though so if he's around then one would be fine.

Review 123:Its a modern hotel with all the conveniences you would expect of a more expensive establishment. I especially liked the free WIFI, the little extra touches like the free fruit at the elevators and the breakfast is the best deal in town.

Review 124:The usual - only a doona - no cooler sheet or blanket

Review 125:All good & actually had a real computer in the foyer for guests, like me who don't own fancy gadgets. Fairly close to the station.

Review 126:Most of staff can not speak in English, they serve almost same breakfast menus for everyday

Review 127:We like the hotel because it clean, quite new, and staff are friendly

Review 128:Room was clean and newly made up but we had the feeling that someone had been in; newspaper, hand towel, hair grips on side...

Review 129:Japtastic: compact, modern, gadget over load, well located.
