Sights at in historic central Maastricht are within 5 minutes of the property by foot, Vrijthof square is just over a quarter mile away.

Reviews for Kruisherenhotel Maastricht

Review 1:The friendly staff, the fun and comfy rooms, the great buffet, the complementary full-size umbrella, it's all in the details. In the heart of town it makes exploring easy.

Review 2:no watercooker / tea / coffee in the room; price, including parking (33 euro/day), on the high end of what can be justified by value

Review 3:the setting, in a church, is excellent; staff was very service-oriented

Review 4:Poor room for money. No separate shower and no double bed, but two singles. Small room with very small window. Breakfast not inclusief in this very expensive hotel. Expensive breakfast. The hotel- lobby and entrance are by far the best spots in the hotel. It is good hotel, but not worth the money.

Review 5:Good looking. Very special location. Great job done.

Review 6:Room was not in the main building. Was small in size and lacked the impact of the main building. - therefore over priced and not what we were expecting.

Review 7:Wonderful staff, building very good, restaurant excellent

Review 8:We got 2x 1person beds together instead of one big bed. Dont know if this was just a bad communication between booking.com and the hotel, but not something that couldnt be solved.

Review 9:Really good placement in the middle of the centrum, with 2-3 minutes walking distance to the most popular restaurants, bars and shop. Awesome staff which pointed out what there is to do, and where we should go. The hotel was also great, in a old 1500s castle but the inside is new and fashionable

Review 10:The room was not top-clean. While each item is a design-piece, the room layout in not convenient. The window is a small whole, so there is not much light coming through. For the room-class we booked I did expect more for this price, especially as Maastricht is not Berlin, Rome or Stockholm

Review 11:The setting in the church is very unique and impressive. Staff very friendly and breakfast is fresh with a lot of things to choose.

Review 12:Rooms at the top of the hotel were rather hot and the linen was not great, also the bedding was man-made fibres which added to the room being too hot at least for our taste. The bar does not “do cocktails” and the barman couldn’t even make a vodka martini which for such a cool hotel was rather unexpected and a shame. We would stay there again though just in a different room.

Review 13:Stunning renovation of a monastery and church, with some very good design features.

Review 14:Terribly slow kitchen - we spent nearly three hours at dinner mostly waiting for courses to arrive and int he end left at 11:25 pm without dessert. Slightly uncomfortable bedroom design - all hard edges, nowhere to put anything and a toilet without wall or a door.

Review 15:Bold imaginative design in a vaulted church, great staff, very professional but also friendly. Good to excellent food. Great location close to everything you need to do and see.

Review 16:we were not happy that the breakfast automatically is included in the invoice. we didn't take breakfast and the invoice needed to be adjusted

Review 17:a beautiful church/hotel with compliments to the architect

Review 18:Our room was fine but definitely not as unique as the rest of the building. I really did not like the bathroom, it felt like something out of an hospital.

Review 19:Unique experience, great location, super friendly staff and great breakfast

Review 20:The room we had (108) was great, except it was laid out like a hotel in NYC- there wasn't really enough room for 2 people to move around it freely. Luckily our goal wasn't to spend all our time in the room, so we didn't mind.

Review 21:A beautiful romantic weekend escape in a lovely city. The building is lovely, and breakfast in the nave of the church is stunning. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. We'd be happy to stay here again.

Review 22:The tv is really too small and they do not have CNN or BBC. Only very little water comes out of the "spanish"/roof shower!

Review 23:Location, design, staff

Review 24:Really liked the contemporary features which blended in so well with the old building. The room was amazing! Spacious and unique. Enjoyed simply walking around the hotel and gardens. Bar was lovely too as was the mezzanine eating area. A wonderful stay!

Review 25:Comfort in the rooms can be improved given the price and the overall hotel quality: no bedside reading lights, poor lighting in the bathroom, shower could work better.

Review 26:Good location close to the center, amazing historical building, great atmosphere and design. Very original and cozy rooms, nice staff

Review 27:We had tried once the breakfast at the hotel. It was expensive! When we sat down, the waitress asked us if we would like coffee or tea. When we said tea, she only gave us black tea. Later we discovered that there were several kinds of teabags near the buffet table, but the waitress did not ask us which kind of tea we preferred and did not tell us that they had several kinds of tea available. When we checked out, the hotel showed us a record that we had had breakfast for two times. The staff at the reception found out it was a mistake at once, but we did not understand why there was such a mistake. Also, it would be better if the hotel would include hotel cars to and from the railway station.

Review 28:the design of the hotel, the bed room and the public toilet in the lobby

Review 29:The staff were very friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. The location for us to go to the Andre Rieu concert on the Vrijthof was perfect. lovely atmosphere and really well converted. Fabulous. See you next year

Review 30:Free Wifi lost connection quite often. Speed could also be improved.

Review 31:Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent service. Perfect stay to enjoy Maastricht!

Review 32:Room showed its age, needed a re-paint and some re-sealing work on the tiles. Some practicailities missing in the room, towel hooks in the right places, square soap dishes (difficult to get sqare soap out off),

Review 33:The bed was the best I've slept on in a hotel. Breakfest was great! Staff were very helpful.

Review 34:Limited 24hr roomservice, but now I am really trying...

Review 35:Staff was excellent, location was excellent, the room was amazing.Clean, very quiet (room 202), quirky. Loved it.

Review 36:Tile grout could be refreshed (not major issue)

Review 37:Building is stunning Very friendly personnel (reception, cleaner, restaurant) Spacious room of great quality

Review 38:Would like to see breakfast priced more reasonably, or better yet, included with the overnight stay

Review 39:Loved the nature of historical and ultra modern mix created for accommodation that is luxurious, yet, can also be dismantled within months because of preservation

Review 40:The interior feels a little dated and cheap. I was expecting a tad more characterful and eccentric. We also had two beds joined together badly which is always a little discomforting. :)

Review 41:The exterior of the building is beautiful and is a welcome surprise as you turn the corner to be met with its stain glass windows.

Review 42:It was an OK place but the staff was terrible - worse experience I've ever had traveling. I made an honest error on an on-line booking and it took them a month to finally see it my way, and even then they would not provide a refund - only to transfer the payment to their restaurant. We were the ONLY guests in the restaurant for dinner and it was way over priced. And the food was not that good for the money - only chicken and fish from the "Chef's Surprise". I immediately notified the property that I made an error on the on-line booking but they would not let me out of the agreement, even though I notified them immediately of the error, and it took over a week for the girl at the front desk to let me speak to a manager. It was an absolutely disgusting experience.

Review 43:It was an OK place but the staff was terrible - worse experience I've ever had traveling.

Review 44:-The WiFi experience was spotty and very frustrating -Would have loved concierge service

Review 45:The physical beauty of the hotel is stunning - every detail is special

Review 46:Second floor bedrooms are: 1. Too hot and 2. the AC is noisy and ineffectual 3. Light penetrates from the glass door making sleep nearly impossible 4. The pillows are are so thick!!! Breakfast is so expensive.

Review 47:Hotel building was fabulous and you could not wish for more helpful staff

Review 48:paid eur 199 per night (eur 260 with the breakfasts) to be despatched in a cold metallic annex outside the main bulding... Very average room with worn out furniure and twin beds when we asked for a double... Only possible for superior rooms we were told. Not worth the money.

Review 49:The building is wonderful and in an exellent location to visit Maastricht, great breakfast if you arrive early.

Review 50:Poor wifi and small bedroom TV with sound control that was too low for me to hear

Review 51:The great staff, and the very clever transformation of a monastery into a modern hotel

Review 52:Wifi connection not working, not better than other hotels costing 4 times less, cancelled reservation in the restaurant because of a group, this hotel is number one of my worst experiences in the last five years…

Review 53:Curtains were not fully blinding so the room was a little light (in the morning).

Review 54:Unique setting (old church - beautifully renovated - in the very center of Maastricht); great staff (very skilled, professional and enthusiastic); nice room with excellent facilities; superb bar.

Review 55:Things which didn't hit the mark were: Bathroom toiletries are very cheap Coffee at breakfast is awful No cocktail menu in the bar? Bedroom in the adjacent building was very noisy as its right by a road

Review 56:This hotel is amazing in terms of decor, location, bed comfort and staff friendliness.

Review 57:It's unnecessarily expensive in a city with many choice of boutique hotels.

Review 58:In the warmer months, the outdoor central patio would be a great place to have a drink wtih friends.

Review 59:dining experience - we waited 1 hour for our main course to arrive food was disappointing room - our room was downstairs next to the service entrance at the end of the corridor. The door was frequently open and very cold. It was not welcoming. It didn't feel like a 4 / 5 star experience

Review 60:location uniqueness of concept breakfast

Review 61:Room layout a bit awkward with poor use of overall space. Ordered room service and the food was TERRIBLE. Such a shame with such delicious food to be had in Maastricht.

Review 62:Great service from the staff. Gorgeous setting with modern design in juxtaposition to the former church and monastery. Convenient location to walk to restaurants and the sights.

Review 63:The temperature at the room; it was too warm to sleep well. With a small child also in the room we did not want to open the window at night.

Review 64:The atmosphere, the room, the breakfast and the staff. Also the location in the centre of Maastricht was perfect.

Review 65:Beds are so so and the plumbing is sub par - the neighbours were flushing in the middle of the night a couple of times and it made me sit up straight each time: like a firehose spraying down the room.

Review 66:Unique venue - one of a kind and worth staying at regardless of anything. Fascinating architecture. Staff was great.

Review 67:The room lacked any character at all...was slightly disappointing. Value for money wasn't great, especially with the price of breakfast. I'm to sure I'd stay there next time.

Review 68:The room was comfortable.

Review 69:They had just installed a new fire alarm system which went off at 4 in the morning. Luckily they comp'd our breakfast

Review 70:The architecture was amazing. The courtyard was also very beautiful.

Review 71:That Breakfast was a required charge per person and if you didn't tell them daily that you did not dine there for breakfast it would remain on the bill

Review 72:Service was impeccable. They went out of their way to accomodate all of our requests. We wanted to use the Spa at their sister property (St. gerlach) and the bus shuttle service could not accomodate our early morning appointments so the hotel GM drove us there personally.

Review 73:The concept, interior design, staff, and comfort were all top notch. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The breakfast was among the best I have had in Europe. The bed was very comfortable. Maastricht has become one if my favorite cities to visit in recent years.

Review 74:Our room did have a lot of stairs but the staff carried our cases up and down, so it was no real problem.

Review 75:Incredible, friendly, professional, polite service (something most places have forgotten). Theirs was above and beyond Amazing renovation and use of space in an old monastery - blending the old and the new Fantastic location - just a walk to the town and river

Review 76:None

Review 77:This was a most amazing experience to stay in such an old monastery. The hotel was beautiful, staff excellent, location perfect and well worth the money

Review 78:We returned after a day in Maastricht to collect our bags and have a coffee and the famous vlaai. We sat waiting for service on the couches and were ignored for 30minutes, while 7 staff members stood and talked at the check-in desk. It was as if once we checked out we were no longer wanted aroudn the hotel. It was a dissapointing end to a great stay.

Review 79:Friendly and informative concierge and staff. Outstanding, unique hotel. Excellent history and genuine feeling of comfort.

Review 80:Very noisy air conditioning in the room Extra bed (for adults at 35euro/night) was of poor quality, very thin mattress! The hotel wasnice enough to waive the charges.

Review 81:Setting and interior of the hotel Hotel location in downtown MaastrichtFriendliness of staff Great breakfast selection

Review 82:No tea/coffee or WiFi in the rooms. The breakfast buffet could have had a wider selection of foods.

Review 83:Staff very friendly and efficient, hotel very clean, tranquil and unusual, good location but quiet and peaceful.

Review 84:I did not trust the glass wall in the public toilets. The lavatory in the room did not have a wash basin one had to walk around the room to the bathroom

Review 85:Very helpful staff. Wonderful room and just a lovely environment

Review 86:Wifi in the rooms would be a plus and the breakfast buffet is too expensive taking into consideration what is offered. Parking is vey expensive.

Review 87:The Hotel's design and architecture are astonishing and definitely worth a visit. The gastronomy in the church's mezzanine restaurant is very interesting with affordable prices. Rooms are criatively decorated.

Review 88:Confirmed double room booking tur'ned into a twin: €50 per night extra charged for double with blame put on Booking, com .... €33 per day parking extortionate. A hotel of this calibre should not charge for newspapers. In summary: a moneygrabbing op.

Review 89:Top class performance of all staff

Review 90:No food available Restaurant and bar booked out by groups. Should have been forewarned My suite was cold

Review 91:Wonderful welcome from very helpful staff

Review 92:Awesome staff - professional

Review 93:This hotel is absolutely amazing.. If you have the chance (and the budget), ask for the top floor deluxe rooms, and you will not regret...

Review 94:room was not cleaned well, wifi very slow, pillows too thick for us

Review 95:Best design, very special, good service.

Review 96:Fantastic location, and the hotel building itself is great. Staff very helpful and responded well to a few challenging requests.
