Review 1：Check in took over 2.5 hours, eventually sorted out by reception manager. Our triple room had a large window/glass door on the 4th floor that fully opened with a very poor safety latch. Not safe for anyone with young children, we used furniture from within the room to block off access to our 4 year old.

Review 5：Our rooms were not yet ready when we arrived and they had to be cleaned. We tried to check in at 1:50, one would expect the room to be already made given that check in was at 2pm. The corridors stunk like old sewage system, which is very strange as the hotel seemed to be new. We were hungry at night but the kitchen services stopped at 10pm and there was nothing in the mini bar. The vendor machines were out of order on our floor and there was one vendor machine at the reception, but this one only sold chocolate bars. There were no facilities nearby the hotel where we could purchase a snack either. Breakfast was expensive (15eur pppn) and really crowded,not worth waiting for an egg to be baked...

Review 25：I stayed there twice at the beginning and end of my recent road trip to 8 countries. So easy to find regardless of the major road upgrades and temporary diversions that have been going on the last few years. The evening meal was superb with a wide ranging menu.

Review 33：We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet and nicely furnished. The young lady on reception was very polite and efficient on checking in. No problem for parking in the large hotel car park. The hotel has a nice swimming pool and sauna / spa facilities. We were there for the Andre Rieu concert and even though the hotel was very busy with other people also going to the concert, there was no problem being served in the bar or reception. The hotel is a bit of a walk to the main square and places of interest, but the hotel has taxi vouchers which can be bought at reception. There was a well organised coach / shuttle bus service to take people to the concert. Unable to comment on breakfast as we did not have this there. Maastricht is a nice historic city and well worth visiting. The staff were very friendly and polite and made us feel welcome. We will definitely stay there again.

Review 38：Our room was on the swimming pool floor and it was very noisy with kids running around and talking loudly. They only told us about taxi service for which you can buy the tickets at the hotel. They sold us two, one for going and one for coming back without telling us that we could take the free shuttle into town and pay for the way back! There is nothing to do near the hotel.

Review 42：The location: it is a little bit far from the center and right in between other larger hotels and atm also road works. The hotel provides a shuttle bus during the day on Friday and Saturday which is great, we decided to go back on foot which took us +/- half an hour from the city center.

We had a great time in Maastricht and if we ever go back it will be in the same hotel!

Review 45：Way too far away from the main center, and not even in a nice area. It seems to be in an industrial area surrounded by second hand car dealerships. PURPLE blanket on bed was horrible, horrible room decoration, ugly pictures on the wall.

Review 50：We had dinner at the restaurant of the Van der Valk hotel Maastricht for 2 days. We ordered Limburg menu on the 1st night, which were quite dissapointing. The chicken steak was raw, the bacon was burnt, and the fish was plain. On the 2nd night, we decided to try other menus, which were much better than the Limburg menu (steak was great, as well as the mussel). It was quite pitty because the Limburg menu was shown at the front page of the menu, where we expect to be satisfying.

Review 69：The bathroom had the strong smell of the sewer all night and all morning. I drew the attention of the staff to this. They did not send a person up right away to verify my complaint. They promised to have the responsible manager call me by phone, but there was no follow through. I contacted the main office, they sent my complaint back to the Maastricht hotel, who then dutifully sent me a machine generated apology and offer to give us a better room next time. I do not intend to return and requested a full refund. No response from the hotel. I felt insulted and disappointed.

Sometimes (4 times happened to me and I stay there 2 nights every week since last 8 months) the lady just gets very rude while telling that I was 30 minutes late from check out time and once also in general she was rude. I am a customer who stays there for the whole year and this is not how you should treat your loyal customers. I am a business traveler and my client's office is near by. Otherwise, i would not stay here anymore.
