Reviews for San Pawl Hotel
Review 1:Pity wifi not free as it is available in all cafés etc in the area, we would have dine there in the evening if there was free wifi
Review 2:All very positive, Clara on reception really lovely, on our arrival night porter not so friendly we were just enquiring about kettle and he informed us this is a 3 star hotel which we were well a aware of as we arrived at 12 am & would have loved a cup of tea ( he may have been tired after long day ) . Next morning met Clara & all great after that. Only negative no free wifi,
Review 3:Tired and worn room too much noise from groups of youngsters around pool at night and from music in the bar some of the Reception staff were very hard faced
Review 4:Toilet was not flushing and the linen on the pillows was not fresh. They only tried to fix the issues next day. Hotel is located 7min walk to the sea and 10min to the centre where the action is. St. Paul itself is not a nice place, among places on the north choose melieha instead. You have to pay for wifi.
Review 5:Breakfast Indoor and outdoor pool Reception looks nice
Review 6:It gets noisy in the evening, if you wish to relax it is not the best choice.Breakfast was poor , no fruits .
Review 7:Nice location, close to city center, bus stops.Friendly stuff.
Review 8:Poor staff, very rude and unhelpful Areas unclean Restaurant very poor and they wanted you out half way though your meal, demanding the bill before we had finished Expensive drinks, staff unsure of what they were doing. Too many managers and not enough doing the job, the list is endless. Such a shame asalta is lovely and usually the people are so helpful.
Review 9:The Chinese spa treatments not related to the hotel
Review 10:horrible cleaning, no air conditioned and we couldn't sleep in 4 nights. We ask for a ventilator and we had to pay for it. No wifi, no parking. The whole hotels needs a rebuilding. the swimming pool smelt horrible too.We were happy when we left the hotel. Terrible experience. Not value for money.
Review 11:only that tt was close to the center
Review 12:Rude and unfriendly personnel. No cold (only hot) water in the shower (imagine it with +40 outside). No air-conditioning in the rooms - just a very noisy fan (like sleeping under helicopter) Destroyed furniture in the room (70s and not repaired ever since), a bed's structure was about 20 cm more narrow than the mattress. Destroyed toilet, shower with isolation tape. No towels - first day we had to speak three times with the reception to be able to collect a couple of damaged towels (also with stains), the second day when we saw that there are no towels in the room again we had speak directly to the cleaning lady and she just took them from another room (somebody else remained without towels?) There were promised 2 swimming pools - in reality there is just one, small, and closing at 17.30 It was promised an electricity adapter (of course for extra payment at reception) - there was not any.
Review 13:Th only nice place in the hotel is the reception area
Review 14:Couldn't use the pool or the nearby gym as they seem to put too much chlorine in it so you get a headache just by passing by. No other special facilities except for a good bed and something to eat in the morning.
Review 15:For the low price I paid I got much more than expected - big and clean room and a decent breakfast. Fine location.
Review 16:The indoor pool was chlorinated to an excessive degree and should not have been in use. I'm often in chlorinated pools and have never experienced any problem . After swimming in this pool, my eyes were very inflamed and my vision blurred. I had to find a pharmacy and use eye drops for 24 hours. Very annoyed about it!
Review 17:Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere
Review 18:For the second time in two visits reception argued with me as to whether I had booked a superior room, although it was clearly stated on the booking form. Neither the students' Group Leaders, nor the hotel management would accept responsibility or take action for the screaming and shouting throughout the nights.
Review 19:Our departure - it could not come quick enough.
Review 20:Room was very cold (you need to pay extra for the climate control) Breakfast was every day the same; very basic. I got a room where had been smoked before You have to pay for internet; in a time where free WiFi is every where.
Review 21:Food was like school dinners. The standard rooms were badly maintained. If you could open the balcony doors then you were unable to lock them. Room 306 the shower door fell off every time you opened or closed it. Holes in the tiles. Given a standard room when I'd paid for the superior room which took the staff 24 hours to correct and no refund on price difference.
Review 22:Not alot
Review 23:1. Horrible mattresses. Even though I sleep everywhere, I cannot say I slept well. 2. yes, the karaoke music is loud. If you have a light sleep, you need a street-side room. If you enjoy some 80's background music while you get to sleep, ask for a poolside room. Overall St.Paul's bay/ Bugibba are better for tourists aged 30/40+. If you're a young gal looking for wild adventures, go to Paceville/ St. Julian's.
Review 24:The location is very good, close to Bugibba center, but also close to a roundabout where lots of bus lines intersect. Overall the place is absolutely reasonable. Of course there are imperfections, of course there are few things they charge for - which could be free, but I believe that we obtain good value for our money.
Review 25:Where do I start.... Cracks in the room, rips in the Manchester, scraggy looking towels, shower was way to small. After moving rooms 3 times I lost my patience. The staff do not communicate amongst themselves and provide incorrect information. I would not stay here even if I was paid too. Pool was dirty had floaties in there. No wifi in the rooms, you need to purchase an ozone card which has limited time on it. You need to pay for air conditioning. Really bad experience at this hotel. Left as u. Happy customer.
Review 26:Old furniture and towels, poor cleaning services, they left our garbage in the bin for 3 days, poor breakfast, very very noisy rooms, the oldies party every day of the week were very disturbing, some untalented people screamed at karaoke or in "concert" until late in the night, every night...
Review 27:Nothing especially
Review 28:Rock hard bed. Ripped towels. Rude night check in man. Cockroach i had to remove from friends room.
Review 29:Pool bar and evening entertainment. Day reception staff. Kids liked the outdoor pool. Food and drink not too expensive.
Review 30:*we should have book a room with AC
Review 31:*pool *location *breakfast *nice staff
Review 32:Heavily overpriced!
Review 33:Only lobby is renovated but all rooms look like time stopped for them in '90. Breakfast terrible as well.
Review 34:Staff is very nice
Review 35:The restaurant employee boring own job and no set up the table When one customer gon.
Review 36:The reception was very kindly and helpfully.
Review 37:Outdoor swimming pool filthy and the indoor pool closed
Review 38:Helpful friendly staff
Review 39:the people running this hotel could not be more helpful in every way.Just great.
Review 40:TV poor reception and old models !
Review 41:Indoor pool Breakfast location Balcony
Review 42:It was cheap and value for money. The staff was great and food too.
Review 43:Internet was my biggest problem and the staff where very unhelpful to say the least
Review 44:It was quiet
Review 45:there was few variety of food but food was excellent
Review 46:it's few minute walk from bugibba so one can reach some shops and even for younger people some night life.
Review 47:The room was vary dated, the bathroom wasn’t clean, curtain in the bathroom was just disgusting. The room was cleaned every day but towels ware not changed – cleaner just took dirty towel but didn’t give new one (first day we had 5 towels and last day just 3). There was no free wifi (but we knew that). There is an information on booking.com that dinner costs 9,5 euro. This is not true – the price is 12 euro and even though we showed the stuff our reservation from booking.com where this information was written they didn’t want to agree for this price. They said that there is a mistake on booking.com and they don’t know why. This information is still on booking.com so they didn’t changed it. We ordered a taxi to the airport in the reception for 5 a.m. but we had to wait for another couple who ordered a taxi to the airport for 5.30 a.m. because lady from the reception ordered just one taxi instead of two. It was lucky that there were only 2 people extra because there was not more space in a taxi.
Review 48:Price, good location: close to bus stops and shops, quite good breakfast, the pool looked nice but we did't had time to use it
Review 49:Small maintenance problems : burnt lamp bulb, squeeking cupboard door, elevator did not work for a day,TV front buttons (panel) missing.Mis-fitting toilet seat ! Monotone breakfast menu.
Review 50:Location: close to bus stops, shops on the main street of the location, seaside promenade is near. Staff friendliness. Surprisingly cheap.
Review 51:Room was dingy, no heating except a portable electric fire. TV not working, light in bathroom not working, very cold at night and only one blanket. Staff seemed bored and uninterested. Not close to amenities and a fair hike to the beach. Other guests seemed miserable and the word 'dump' was used often to describe the hotel. No wifi. Stayed 4 nights and glad it wasn't longer.
Review 52:Not much! Pool was ok but too small to be of any use. Breakfast was edible. Hotel was quiet.
Review 53:Didnt get the facilities that were supposed to be in a superior room, very noisy, not clean and very worn out facilities, satellite TV only had 2 channels (both news channels), none of the equipment in the gym worked, breakfast wasn't very good
Review 54:nice location and well connected to tourist activities with bus stop outside front door
Review 55:Breakfast was very limited for people who wish to stay fit, and at 9:30am the staff is already taking away things when the breakfast duration must be till 10am. During breakfast the coffee mugs were unavailed and people have to wait for long when it happens. Cleaners came and entered in anytime in the morning even if we were still present in our room.
Review 56:Not much apart from being with my lovely girlfriend
Review 57:It was to noisy for me because my room was just in front of the way and noise isolation was not good enough. The toilet and douche where working in my second room not so good.
Review 58:Staff is helpfull and very friendly, perhaps like the most of Maltese people-the best people of Mediterranean I think so. Location is one of the best on Malta, famous touristic place and just 20 minutes away by bus from the best beach on Malta( Melieha of Gadira bay) The breakfast and dinner are very good.
Review 59:NO Wi-fi was a huge disappointment. Unhelpful staff,I have asked for pharmacy they told me to go on the street and ask people.Receptionist did not know enything about swimming pool opening times [outdoor pool shut]. Poor games room. Room not cleaned up to my standarts.
Review 60:Good breakfast. Room cleaned every day. Good location. Cheap price but this hotel is mainly for old people.
Review 61:Air conditioning and ceiling fan were a little noisy.
Review 62:Good and accurate personel. price/quality ratio is very good. We had a poolside room, where also the entertainment took place. Not a good idea if you want to go to sleep earlier as 23:30 hrs, but nice if you like this. We had to leave at 4:30 Hrs from the hotel and the receptionist gave us a wake up call.
Review 63:A little dirty here and there - but you get what you pay for.
Review 64:The staff were so friendly. The night security guy Alfred, in particular. Absolute character. Also, it was extremely good value. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location.
Review 65:Everything was either charged for or the answer was 'no' - we noticed on other review sites that staff where a big issue - some of the staff are fantastic but sadly some of the others really need to consider their careers and sadly we found this more so with the senior, ie management, levels. Car Parking - on their site they state that there is adequate parking (although they do not have their own), this really isn't the case it was a nightmare. If you want or need a car stay elsewhere. For most of our stay there was a large school party staying they seemed to monopolise the hotel including the restaurant - very off putting.
Review 66:We had a superior room which was adequate and quiet which was nice. The pool was ok although the sun loungers were very tightly packed together making it very cosy with your neighbour ! Breakfast was edible - typical buffet style but again the restaurant was very cramped we didn't try any other meal options.
There was no shampoo in the bathroom. On the first day there were no bath towels in the room (they brought them only on the next day, but promised to bring them on the day of our check-in). WiFi only with charge. There are computers with paid Internet access. They sell British socket adapter for 1 euro. They charge even the rent of a kettle for every day. Breakfast: "juice" is chemical, there was no yogurt. During booking it was written that dinner may be ordered separately for 8.5 euros ... On the site the price was 12.5 euros, and only if you order for three nights - 8.8 euros.
A big hotel for tourists groups near the bus stop to Valletta (marking on the map here is quite wrong). One should walk for 5 minutes to get to the sea (the so-called rocky beach). The room is equipped well. There is a ceiling fan and fridge. Air conditioning worked well. Soundproofing is good (on the second floor with a balcony to the street we heard almost nothing). The bathroom has a separate bath tub. There were only pieces of soap. TV showed only a few channels (there were two in English with news). Breakfast was good (it was not enough fruits). There were no problems with communication with the staff in English (they told us about local festival in Mosta with fireworks). It easy to go by bus to the beaches and the ferry to Gozo and Comino from the hotel. There is a separate store room for the last day and a guest toilet.
Review 69:very early breakfast (until 9.30), got cold because of insane a/c temperatures in reception, staff sometimes doesnt pay attention when you come for something
Review 70:Location, value for price, clean room, breakfast, pool
Review 71:Service is among the worst. I paid for a superior room for a week anddidn't receive my fridge (very tiny) until the fifth day, The indoorpool was closed. And on the last day they tried to kick us out before 10am. Furthermore, you only get one copy of the key.
Review 72:The price basically. Also the location wasn't too bad. Breakfastwasn't that great if u don't like pork.
Review 73:Indoor pool closed, but that was of little consequence.
Review 74:Very friendly and willing staff, the hotel was clean and superb value. Breakfast was good and the pool area and pool bar were great fun.
Review 75:We checked in on sat 8th june early around 1am and the person at thereception ( an old man) was horrible, he was like you came here so youknow the price to pay right ? Basically he didn't want to do his jobright!! Very rude. We both were tired from work and he made us feel veryuncomfortable. He didn't tell us that there was no remote for thetv, neither what time was the breakfast and neither which level wewanted to go for our room! He was very unprofessional when he tried toexplain things. The staff is not organized enough!! This old man told usthat the check out was at 11 (just like on this page) when they came toknock on the door and they told us it's at 10, he didn't advisethem. It's very unfortunate to have a lack of professional staffwhen the hotel is very nice.Even satellite tv ? hah laugh it all off! And please not we had the superior room.
Review 76:The location was nice. Very nice breakfast and pool very cool. Hotel wasvery quiet not unlike other hotels that we've been too.
Review 77:Entertainment at night Shocking. Heath in Room. No Fridge. Single wooden Beds. Tv with 2 stations.
Review 78:The Sausages every 2nd morning.
Review 79:A few rooms are noisy, if you ask to move they will find a quieter room
Review 80:Great value, it's 3 star, you can't expect more
Review 81:Mostly the indoor pool relaxing ! Good breakfast too !
Review 82:Only single glazed windows so quite noisy in rooms
Review 83:Fantastic value
Review 84:The heating was not working, Breakfast could be better.
Review 85:Staff was friendly, location was good.
Review 86:The staff was very helpful and friendly. Towels changed and room cleaned every day.
Review 87:The room was slightly dated with an old style box tv.
Review 88:The reception area was clean and modern.
Review 89:food, swimming pool opening hours, inadequate games room
Review 90:Karaoke, entertainment every night, swimming pool
Review 91:Dirty towels, expensive internet connection
Review 92:Price
Review 93:terrible staff
