Reviews for Sands Suites Resort & Spa

Review 1:The younger staff wasn't properly trained and even though they were very friendly some times it gave the impression they were not very polite nor proactive

Review 2:The location, facilities, room, the beach was the best in flic and flac, the breakfast and dinner buffets

Review 3:There was an issue with air-conditioning: when it is on, it is noisy in nighttime, too effective. When not on, room became soon too hot. This was though a minor fault in an otherwise great hotel

Review 4:Very good service and helpful people around. Beautiful spacious rooms, calm and stylish hotel.

Review 5:The fact that after 7 days we had to leave!

Review 6:The location, the views, the lush landscape and the facilities are fantastic! It was like waking up in paradise as you look out onto the palm trees on the beach and the mountains across Tamarin Bay. It is very private, the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. It is a bit "cut off" so having a car is a must if you plan to travel around. We drove quite alot during the day, visiting different locations, returning to the hotel in the evening for a fantastic buffet. The staff are really great. They are polite, professional but fun and extremely helpful and knowledgeable and they remember you throughout. Since the hotel employs so many locals they are full of information and suggestions since they know the island really well. Excellent breakfast (never drank so much fresh exotic juice!), infinity pool and quite a number of activities offered for free such as the snorkeling trips, gym and aquagym.. I would recommend it to any couple looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway (honeymoon!) in a resort that blends in so well with the surroundings with top notch service.

Review 7:We originally booked 5 nights, but could only stay at Sands for 4 nights. Sands had a server problem which resulted in an overbooking, so they had us stay at Sofitel for one night. Overall we did not like Sofitel.

Review 8:We liked everything...the ambience, the tranquility, the staff, the sea facing room, the beautiful ocean, the facilities, excellent breakfasts and dinners etc. :-). We felt very spoiled and well looked after during each of our moments there.

Review 9:Extras a little bit too expensive,in the buffet something lack of quality.but in general good

Review 10:Great resort with an impressive view, beautiful garden, kind and efficient staff, everything good, clean and new/or in like new status

Review 11:the hotel is at the end of a road, guests may rent a car or bikes to go outside. food included in half-boarding is not that tasty especially dinner. but it's the same in other west coast hotel.

Review 12:we arrived at 1 in the morning, and received a warm welcome. room is big and cozy.every room has seaview! the left is a mountain so the view is not boring.reasonable price of the food and drinks in minibar.

Review 13:- Excellent location - Very nice staff - Delicious food - Great, comfortable rooms - Good water activity options (snorkelling, water skiing, ...) - Good value for money

Review 14:The prices of food and drink in the resort are very, very high (the norm in resorts I guess) so we ended up eating at local restaurants in the area and buying our own drink from local supermarkets to drink on our balcony. Excursion prices seemed quite high to us, we booked one through the hotel and then one online. Breakfast variety was O.K. but did not blow us away. Always left full though.

Review 15:The resort was exceptionally clean, was nice that it had all the facilities of a bigger resort but is much smaller, giving it a much more leisurely feel to it. Bit of a walk into town where the restaurants are but very nice walk along the beach with options to stop off for a beer overlooking the ocean. Staff were very friendly throughout our stay. Extremely comfortable room that became our home for 7 nights.

Review 16:The floor of the ocean is covered in dead coral, requiring shoes, reception staff rather unfriendly.

Review 17:Our welcome, the infinity pool, the friendliness of most staff, the room, the views over Le Morne and the grounds in general.

Review 18:Restaurant prices were as expensive as a top restaurant in Europe but not the same quality, for obvious reasons.Charging the phone call for room service was unnecessary. The dress code should also be reviewed.

Review 19:Excellent beach and room, with excellent view and facilities. Beautifuĺ pool and very quiet place, I strongly recommend for people like us who do not require "animation" and prefer a peaceful time by the beach. Good offer of watersports and friendly staff.

Review 20:Rooms are big (stayed in 2 room suite alone), but inconvenient. Modern design makes you feel sad and cold inside as rooms seem to be empty. Very poor quality of everything around, looks cheep and unreliable. Territory is nice but again it is dirty and untidy.

Review 21:Stuff was quite friendly.

Review 22:Wifi service was slow, however we were there for a holiday therefore slow wifi was not all that important during our stay.

Review 23:The hotel has been renovated and nice spacious room, friendly staff, good food, range of free water activities & the beach.

Review 24:يوجد موظف استقبال سيء جداً لم يلتزم بالحجز الخاص بموقع بوكينق وذواخلاق وتعامل سيء اسم الموظف Kevin The reception was very bad, especially from poor employee because false and provocative and claims he is the manager of the hotel Employee bad name Kevin

Review 25:No

Review 26:Beds were very uncomfortable. Wifi connection was appalling. Breakfast selection was poor and food generally wasn't amazing in the resort. Particularly for the prices you pay! Although many staff (at least 6) at the bar service was slow and incorrect drinks brought to us (and we were the only ones in the bar).

Review 27:The resort layout and setting is gorgeous and the decor is also. The facilities are good and many included activities which is nice eg kayaking, glass bottom boat and sailing. The size of the resort is appealing. It's not massive and quite intimate. Better for couples than those with children in my opinion.

Review 28:Leaving to go the Grand baie

Review 29:We spent 3 amazing nights at Sands but then we had to travel to the North of Mauritous , we miss the place terribly and would love to go back . Excellent free water activities and the staff were excellent. 5 stars

Review 30:There needs to be clear documentation prior to booking that states the guest must pay the balance of the accommodation on arrival. This money was demanded by the hotel staff and lead to a serious loss of face by me.

Review 31:the food is too expensive.....even as expensive as the Royal Palm

Review 32:Breakfast - preparation of bacon, eggs, french toast, pancakes etc sometimes a bit slow, resulting in the area getting clogged with many guests.

Review 33:Friendly staff, very able and helpfull!!!

Review 34:We didn't like the food it was very bland and not the traditional food we were hoping for beable to sample. Our last meal that was prepared for us personally was lovely so we know it could have been good. The house keeping wasn't very good and we had to phone all the time to get our room made up and it was always well after 2pm.

Review 35:The staff were lovely, espically the lovely lady doing the eggs in the morning.

Review 36:- overadvertized: the expected "suite" is just a nice large room; the room with "beachfront" is just 10-20 m closer to the beach than other rooms in the building, so the price difference in not justified. - no flexibility in food schedule - the hotel pushes you to buy "half board", and then any change results in high cost (but the food is good!) - room cleaning is not great. OK, but not what you expect from the pricy hotel - fresh water in the swimming pool (this is the ocean front after all!)

Review 37:- great location and very pleasant beach - good food - excellent chef - particularly for individual orders - terrific hotel manager from Italy - many thanks! - plenty of free activities in the ocean - nice room

Review 38:Pest control for geckos needs to be put in place. Too many forcing us to keep the lovely french windows closed at all times. Also not good for young children and hygiene of things around the room.

Review 39:Room size, amazing wifi even extending to the beach, super staff

Review 40:Nothing significant.

Review 41:Stayed in the Sands Resort for 3 days, Traveling with my wife and one year old son and my parents on the bed and breakfast option. The resort is wonderful, and the staff is very accommodating and truly amazing in their hospitality, everyone goes out of their way to help. The staff even prepared for us a meal during the day to accommodate our one year old son at no charge. Every room overlooks the sea, which is just a short walk away. Stayed on the ground floor with 2 rooms next to each other. Loved the view of the sea and hearing the waves from our rooms. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The pool is great, and slightly heated which was perfect. The beach is nice with some areas more rocky than others, but definitely will not stop someone from taking a dip. The resort is not that big, but like other reviewers have said, you would never know that it is crowded, as it feels spacious. We came here after a one week stay from the Constance Belle Mare resort (which was also amazing) ,just to try flic en flac, and it was well worth it. Recommend this hotel with bed and breakfast and have dinner 5 minutes away at the restaurants down the road.

Review 42:The stay would be even more memorable if the restaurant kitchen could snap up some level! Neither breakfast, a la carte menu or dinner buffet had some notable flaws, but not the opposite either, with the exception of the lobster barbecue at The Pink Peppercorn!

Review 43:Very nice, good sized establishment with a prime location at the Bahia de Tamarin and Wolmar Beach, with stunning views of the Indian Ocean and a mountainous landscape with Le Morne Brabant in the south! Very friendly staff who Showed us great care throughout our stay! Were upgraded to The Exclusive Suite, the resort's best, since we took the opportunity to celebrate my birthday at the Sands! Many thanks dear staff for That gesture!...

Review 44:Transfer from the airport is expensive!

Review 45:Fantastic setting. Friendly staff. Room was immaculate. Will definitely return if we have an opportunity in the future.

Review 48:The bar and entertainment closed early but on reflection this did cut out the incidence of late night revellers. The house wine wasn't great but this is from someone who spends a lot of time in France

Review 49:The staff were really gracious and kind but not at all obtrusive. The setting was beautiful and calming and felt very safe as it did everywhere we visited. Departure room was brilliant for late flights. All in all great experience.

Review 50:I had half board and you can only use 1 restaurant (with buffet) which is not clear when you make the reservation. The quality of the buffet is lower compared to the other 2 restaurants of the hotel. If you want to use the other restaurants you get a discount of $500 when the buffet cost $1.500. In other words, during lunch I walked to Sofitel, Hilton and Maradiva to get a better food.

Review 51:comfort, spacious rooms, Wi-Fi, facilities and the best is that even when the hotel is full does not look busy. By the end of flic-en flac you can relax at the pool or the beach.

Review 52:The service was very poor and we didn't feel too welcome. Smoke alarm kept us awake 2 nights and the room could've been more clean (toilet was leaking & they never fixed it).

Review 53:Great location with a nice beach and view. The food was also very good and the room size nice.

Review 54:Restaurant staff were very low standard. Should be more attentive thanfront of house staff but seem to be missing that accommodating andsmiley approach. Lets the rest of the side down.

Review 55:I loved the attentiveness of the admid and management staff and theirsupport and accommodation to any query.

Review 56:A bit far from the centre but quiet and clean. Evening buffet not so many food choices and very expensive. No hairdryer and no toothpaste and toothbrush in the room. No slippers.

Review 57:Breakfast very well served. Staff and sports are really nice.

Review 58:Being from South Africa with a weak economy the prices of the items not included were quite steep. I'm sure it shouldnt be a problem for our friends from Europe, Australia etc. Because of the coral bleaching there is quite a bit of coral on the beach, make sure to wear some flip flops or Watershoes.

Review 59:Beautiful location right at the end of the road with a quiet beach. All the rooms have great views and are very close to the beach. Room and bathroom is huge with large Walk in closet. Pool area is fantastic with breathtaking infinity pool. Really enjoyed the water sports esp the snorkeling. Large variety of fish species present, just a pity that coral bleaching took place, so the coral will take a long time to fully recover. Still worth it! Really loved Sands and would recommend it to anyone!

Review 60:Nice rooms, big bathroom, clean, wonderful beach, very relaxed atmosphere, everything Good location for exploring the Black River Nationalpark (with own rentalcar)

Review 61:Nothing

Review 62:Everything !!! The location is wonderful The beach and the sea are marvelous And the staff is fantastic ... Very very kind and friendly The food is very good

Review 63:People who can afford Sands accommodation rates won't still beach towel even if it is evaluated to be 50 euro worth as deposit.

Review 64:Hotel provides a lot of water sport activities and bikes to cycle to the city. The road from the hotel and long beach is great to morning run. Staff are friendly and Bar offers testy cocktails. Place is quiet and not overcrowded. Room is comfortable.

Review 65:Staff were friendly and helpful. The resort was stunning. I was there for a wedding at one of the neighboring resorts so I didn't spend too much of the day or evening there but I must say, the rooms were spacious and overlooking a particularly nice part of the island. I would stay here again.

Review 66:If you are looking forward to the Formally dressed dinners and like the feeling of being on a cruise ship this is for you. Not really my cup of tea but it is not the fault of the Sands. I little isolated and away from Flic N Flack. Dinner was too expensive. For quality of food.

Review 67:The Beach is an amazing setting for sunset, water activities are as good as they get in Mauritius.

Review 68:We had an excellent stay at the hotel. The resort gave every comfort to enjoy our holiday. The service at the reception, in the restaurants, and all over was very good. The location of the resort is perfect. It has a beautiful beach, nice palm garden and there is only a short drive to the village with further restaurants and shopping possibilities.

Review 69:Guests smoking too close to restaurants

Review 70:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with anything asked.

Review 71:Gala Diner at New Years Eve and extra ordinary Party with firework

Review 72:The beach needs a little bit of TLC.

Review 93:The friendliness f the staff

Review 94:Apart from the room everything else is expensive

Review 95:The location, service, lots of activities.

Review 96:Confusion over water told it was filtered from the tap but signs in the room say otherwise.

Review 97:Snorkeling

Review 99:Great food and pleasant and helpful staff
