Reviews for Outrigger Mauritius Resort & Spa

Review 1:Upon our arrival we had to wait around for over 30 minutes before the rooms were sorted . Pool staff don't come around enough to offer drinks. Kids club staff was not very enthusiastic and our children did not want to go there after one morning. The main pool is not kept very clean

Review 2:Beautiful resort and great accommodation and food.

Review 3:Staff are unobliging have no way of accommodating neither are they equipped with being hospitable . cleanliness had a cockaroach on my head as well the dust could actually see the dust mites.

Review 4:Loved the location however not close to any eating places

Review 5:Zip, nada, nothing!!

Review 6:We live and work in Mauritius and have tried many of the hotels around the island, we booked a two night stay at the Outrigger and intend on making it out second home. The staff are more than fantastic, from the welcome at the concierge to the friendly housekeepers, the breakfast staff and even the gardeners that greet and wish you wonderful day.. Hospitality at its best! The evening restaurants are superb too- great buffet at Mercado, seafood at the crab shack and outstanding quality and service at La Plantation! Guys - we will be back!! Thanks for a great stay...

Review 7:Overall happy with my stay. Money wise spent. Mauritius and the people of Mauritius are gifts

Review 8:Spent my honeymoon and me and my spouse would like to thank all the team. Everyone was just above 5 star rating. I wish to come there again with my entire family , soon

Review 9:The staffs there are not friendly and they never say things in a complete sentence. There are no restaurants near the hotel so you might end up eating inside the hotel but the restaurants inside the hotel are not nice and very over priced.

Review 10:The beach was nice and you can access to the beach very easily.

Review 11:Club house was not open when I visited between 6pm and 8pm. Drinks were supposed to be served free at these times for guests with beach front rooms.

Review 12:Views and the beach restaurant.

Review 13:The wifi is very slow (0.3 mbit per room) and restaurants in the hotel expensive - go for a package.

Review 14:Friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast and buffet dinner - wide selection of food and drinks. Nice beach, quiet surroundings.

Review 15:room service was a bit slack when requesting things (not ordering food)

Review 16:great facilities, friendly staff always making sure we were okay, fantastic and a variety of food, spacious and clean rooms

Review 17:First night the room service was atrocious. Food cold, missing ordered items - 3 calls later gave up. Spa could be improved.

Review 18:Management response to the room service crisis. Took immediate responsibility and sorted everything out - no charge for the room service meals and offered a free dinner the following night. Service overall was out of this world.

Review 19:It had a very lonely feeling to the place. Also the food was very disappointing as there was hardly any meat. The food is scattered all over the dining hall so you could miss some stations as I did! We had a nice big bath but couldn't use it as the water was coming out yellow for ages!!

Review 20:The location and the style of the hotel was nice. The rooms are nice and spacious.

Review 21:There is nothing not to like at Outrigger, and we will be back soon

Review 22:Great setting, we stayed in a beautiful apartment overlooking the sea. The spa was was so relaxing. Thanks Prevash for a relaxing feet and full body massage

Review 23:Rooms were very large and spacious with comforable beds and a great bathroom. All the staff were great and the facillities offered at the hotel could not have been better.

Review 24:Changing money was a chore. Hotel took 10% commission. All inclusive doesn't mean ALL.

Review 25:Staff very genuine & friendly and willing to please. Location idilic & peaceful. Plantation club very exclusive great Champange breakfast.

Review 26:Amazing resort to stay at, we upgraded which I would definitely recommend. From the service to the food to the location, everything was just on point. We had access to the plantation house which was just beautiful. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a little bit of heaven!

Review 27:We had a few cockroaches in our room and a small lizard too - made sure that our toddler did not have a good night. For some reason water coming from tap was yellow and did not really invite us to use the nice bathtub in the room.

Review 28:The resort is situated right by a great beach and also features a good pool with nearby bar/restaurants. Wifi was great too!

Review 29:I did not like the hotel restaurant, and the extra bed we got for our 12 years old son, that was not comfortable !!!

Review 30:I liked the location, very authentic trees surrounding the hotel

Review 33:Nothing

Review 34:We - a family of 6 - spent a wonderful Christmas holidays at The Outrigger Hotel & Resort in Mauritius. The lay- out of the hotel is very good, the grounds are beautiful and it's right on a lovely sandy beach. The staff is very helpful, friendly and really goes the extra mile to make things happen. The waiters, front desk (Robby), bar staff, concierge, the cleaning ladies, etc. - all of them did a great job. The chefs, Jerry and Gert-Jan, run an outstanding international kitchen. The food was truly sublime and on two occasions they even cooked the fish that we caught ourselves earlier that day. Of course, there are things to improve, like the towels at the pool / beach and sometimes quite long waiting times for service at the pool / on the beach but it's the great Mauritian hospitality (always with a smile) and personal touch that makes The Outrigger a perfect holiday destination.

Review 35:I would only say nice words about the service from Rajesh, Mercado restaurant, but the rest service is the worst experience ever. You need to ask everything twice and wait for a long time, we had luch in the beach and waited our food for 1,5 hour. We had to book our taxi 2 times for early flight; there was no luggage service although the reception confirmed that it will be even 5 min earlier and they also offered us a take-away breakfast before we leave in the morning to our room -so this was also only a promise. The price we paid for the stay - it is not worth it, so few fruits (bananas, grapefruit, the rest was left over from last days), no fresh juices, no meat, only included in mixture of sauces

Review 36:food and wine was a bit too expensive, room facilities are a bit old (but well refurbished)

Review 37:Wonderful beach, good cuisine and superfriendly and professional staff, huge pool

Review 38:Food was over priced. If you did not have full board food will be very expensive and no other options in the area.

Review 39:The best resort I have been to. We booked the beach front cottage and it was the best in the resort. Rooms were excellent.

Review 40:Mercado lacks indoor places.. poor breakfast

Review 41:awesome staff, great activities!!

Review 42:Food and drinks are overpriced!!

Review 43:The price. It was not value for money. Well over priced.

Review 44:I really liked the location and the food

Review 45:Staff at Mercado restaurant could certainly be more service minded

Review 46:Facilities, food

Review 47:No bad experience at all! And nothing to complain about

Review 48:We had a room downstairs and in the morning-you would find the bedding damp and floors wet and if u weren't careful u could slip

Review 49:Weather

Review 50:Walkway shall be mainteaned well

Review 51:Service food water sports seating around pool and beach

Review 52:The setting and the beach

Review 53:Price of food in restaurants and bars

Review 54:Location, on quite southern coast. Accommodation very comfortable.

Review 55:housekeeping service

Review 56:live music nice room great beach entertainment great meal

Review 57:everything were great...!

Review 58:Spa had not opened, even though it was announced to open mid March. When asked for a date, nobody could tell you when. With sunset, you hardly had any light at the hotel's premises. Paths are sand only, no pavement, which does not only look odd, but combined with rains (which are quite frequent during this time of the year) give you a good mud walk. Especially annoying for parents with baby buggies. Another clear downside was reliability of gym staff, appointments made a day before were not appreciated and in general staff there seemed overburdened with any question asked.

Review 59:Rooms were very neat and clean, room service was on top of the game. All the bars and service at the pool/beach were also spot on.

Review 60:The food was very bland and tasteless. The buffet was like a cheap motel and annoyingly most of the food wasn't labelled so you has no idea what anything was. Asking the staff didn't help because they barely spoke English. The overall feel if us and other English speaking guests we met was that we didn't feel welcome because we didn't speak French. For instance the general manager walked in to the restaurant every evening and if he saw a table of English speakers almost ran the other way. My biggest shock of the place was though the "entertainment" I will never forget sitting on the beach reading a book under a palm tree whilst the hotel played the tune "hangman style" in speakers it had set up on the beach. Odd, more holiday camp than 5 star.

Review 61:The location was good, some staff in the smaller beach restaurant were good.

Review 62:Fitness room was under construction.

Review 63:Great place to relax. Very friendly staff and and free sport activities (i.e. snorkeling, water ski, etc.). But most impressive was entertainment in the evening/night - great bands/singers.

Review 64:Dont take me wrong, this are only for improving the services, not to criticize. Information might at times be inconsistent, from one staff member to the other. Internet should be also in public areas, but in the room is fine :) The spa was not working, but there was one next door. food is very expensive in there. Better take the full pension.

Review 65:This was my favorite place during my stay. The pictures don't really bring up the real beauty of the place. It is very sophisticated, modern but cozy and comfy at the same time. Staff very pleasant. A lot of free aquatic activities (also water ski). On the BB basis, you get 800R per person per day to spend at the restaurant. Internet is excellent, but in the room only. The food on the beach restaurant is delicious. The buffet food was not so tasty. but had a lot of variety. They give you gifts; I got a beautiful beach bag. I couldn't believe the size of my toiletries. All beaches in Mauritius are good. This one is very tranquil and relaxing. Dont expect big parties here.

Review 66:Friendly staff Modern, clean decor

Review 67:the recreational facilities less

Review 68:Food was delicious, the waiter was very warm。

Review 69:Hospitality
