Review 1：Grand pousada, close to the centre of town. Great design; modern, but in keeping with the historic building. Rooms are well kept and have dark wooden panels. There is a nice spa area to relax in. Breakfast is good and a late night drink in the atrium is a special experience.

Review 7：An excellent Pousada and very good value. It is a fairly new conversion of an old hospital and very well done with high quality materials. The bedroom and bathroom were vast, so large my wife got lost and tried to get out by walking into a wardrobe. Though it was full staff seemed very attentive. Parking was good. Dinner was of a very high standard and well priced. Breakfast was the usual amazing Pousada experience. It is only a 10 minute walk to the town centre which is very attractive. We hope to return.

Review 9：This is a beautiful building of a renovated hospital and we made our fourth visit there. Staff are courteous and helpful and the restaurant is good if a little pricey. We are always made to feel comfortable.

Review 10：We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Booked dinner in the hotel restaurant. What a disappointment, the food was dreadful. Couldn't real eat it. Told manager of restaurant, he apologised and gave us a custard tart! Wow, that made us feel better. Woul not go back.

Review 12：High brow attitude of staff at dinner restaurant. Gave impression all was fully booked while we reserved well in time and it proved during the evening there was more than enough space. Food was good, try the octopus!

Review 14：Breakfast was OK but not extraordinary. The only real complaint I would have are the hardness of the mattresses. I like firm mattresses but these were really hard, very hard. Otherwise I would say we liked absolutely everything and I would go there again.

Review 28：Very atmospheric place with very helpful staff who seem anxious to please. Food is good although Orange juice seemed missing at breakfast. Make sure you look around the town which is a short walk from the hotel.

Review 29：Lack of air conditioning. In room 405, a superior room on top floor, the air con was useless. Giant window, but only a small opening. Husband slept awhile on chair on the balcony. Staff really tried, but bad design so they couldn't improve things much. Horrible night of sleeping (not sleeping) and had hoped for much better. Even the large central area suffers from insufficient air circulation.

Review 32：The day we arrived there was a conference being held which was very noisy. We could hardly hear the receptionist tell us about our room and where breakfast would be. It only lasted the first day luckily.

Review 45：From the time we arrived we were impressed. The property is outstanding, staff passionate and well informed. They were expecting yes, paperwork was ready and they have excellent language skills. Our suite was immaculate, very comfortable, and impeccably clean. We had dinner and breakfast and were thoroughly satisfied on both occasions.

The location and the very edge of the historical center is also worth mentioning - easy to reach by car and only a short walk to all the shopping, historical sights, restaurants and night life.

Unfortunately I am allergic against carrots as I told the waiter and asked to please serve the mixed salad without them because otherwise I would not be abel to breath anymore. The meat and the salad were served with loads of small pieces of carrots all over the plate. There was no excuse for the mistake, I got a new plate with the same meat still carrots inbetween and a "mixed" salad - this time without anything else than leave salad. Mistakes can happen but I expect an excuse and afterwards a plate without carrots. We payed the whole price for the dinner. That was absolute inacceptable!!!!!!!!!!
