Reviews for Hotel Bigarré Maastricht Centrum

Review 1:Only one key of the room is available, so we couldn't separate! The shower is not a 4 stars hotel shower and the curtain of the shower was disgusting!! We asked for a double room and we got two single beds put together that would slip from eachoter with the least move!

Review 2:The room is very nice and big. Location is just perfect

Review 3:No reception service after hours so you enter into hotel yourself using key.

Review 4:Location was excellent with the river nearby and 5 minutes walk to Markt the main square with the town hall Stadhuis. The room was comfortable with plenty of space & good bathroom facilities.

Review 5:Very expensive parking. You must pay the room before the checkin.

Review 6:very good location near to the city centre, old building but very well renovated with confortable rooms. Nice breackfast in a wonderfull atmosphere.

Review 7:Sorry, but the smell in the bathroom was unacceptable!

Review 8:Perfect location, just few steps from the old square. Very nice staff. Little extras, like free beer upon arrival, made our stay ;-).

Review 9:Be aware that the parking in the hotel costs money

Review 10:We came for one night, First we got a room without view, Even thought we order room with view, the staff helped and moved us to anther room - the problem was the elevator didn't go to our floor.. Moving 2 suitcases was a challenge. Be aware that the parking in the hotel costs money

Review 11:Although it was known in advance, a long climb with steep stairs to the 3rd floor!

Review 12:Staff was very welcoming. We travelled with a small child (23 months), room was ready ahead of scheduled arrival time, leaving the buggy at reception (3rd floor room, no lift) was no problem. Room clean and comfortable.

Review 13:The building was quite old. The door's lock was also old which made me feel not safe at night.

Review 14:The location is vey good, close to the center. The room was very good and clean. I also enjoyed the breakfast.

Review 15:1. no safe in the room 2. Thin walls - but it wasn't a big deal.

Review 16:The room was clean, all the electric appliances worked. Bathroom was clean and topped up with the shower gel and shampoo (which smelt good). The bed was comfortable. Wifi was working and at a excellent speed. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Loved being in Maastricht, and even better when you have somewhere comfortable to stay in. Great location, within walking distance of the market square and shops.

Review 17:wifi didnt work, requested a double bed, got two singles which easily slipped apart, causing us to squeeze into one single for the night. on site parking expensive

Review 18:Great location

Review 19:Receptionist nice enough but not overly helpful. Had a hard time finding the parking lot due to poor instructions. Also shared the room with 5 spiders that crawled along the ceiling.

Review 20:Great location, fair price, a/c that worked plus near attractions.

Review 21:The air conditioning is noisy. Booking does not explains that on top of the price you must pay 6€/person/day. The parking in the hotel is 25€ (no way to park in Maastrich center fo free), or find another place cheper 10min walking.

Review 22:Nice big room, confortable bed and very close to centre.

Review 23:A list of options at breakfast rather than everything brought to you. The local wine was a great addition but I felt that I didn't like egg, the price was not worth it.

Review 24:Comfort of the bed was great and the location to the registration for the Ironman and the town centre could not be bettered.

Review 25:no head-to-toe mirror in the room

Review 26:comfy room, center location, Morning breakfast( fantastic!!), historical interior design with authentic and esthetic value. Overall, 9 out 10 marks!

Review 27:Call in advance in case you arrive late! Luckily, we did, and the receptionist wanted to charge us 25€ for arriving at 10:45PM, although it is stated on booking.com that the reception is opened until 11PM.

Review 28:Great location and very comfortable beds. Nice decoration of the rooms.

Review 29:yes it was really a bad experience and it started as soon as the taxi stopped infront of Bigarre Hotel. I immediately realized that this hotel is not equivalent to a 4 Star hotel as I have booked. Floor tiles rotten, rooms so unwelcoming, facilities zero. It has to be called a guesthouse. No means of reception during the night. We had to keep to key of the front door of the hotel ourselves or else we will stay out. Surely this is not a 4 star hotel. We have been cheated. you stole our money from our pockets. its a disgrace. I want my money back.

Review 30:The only thing that I liked was the breakfast otherwise hotel is very poor. its not equivalent to a 4 star hotel as rated by Booking.Com. you have overtaken my money.

Review 31:We thought it was outrageously expensive, however we do realise that it was probably more expensive at the time we stayed, because of the Andre Rieu concerts.

Review 32:The staff were very friendly & helpful, and the location was superb.

Review 33:Our room on the ground floor overlooked the back entrance, had one window with no blind. The shape and size was poor, no room to swing a cat, like sleeping in a corridor. Bathroom was larger and well appointed, but power of the shower was very poor.

Review 34:Location Spaciousness of room cleanliness Friendliness of staff Elevator Amenities Comfortable beds Open windows on all sides View GEWELLDIG!

Review 35:the only one person i didn't like he was a bully was the headwaiter ,not friendly towards any of the foreign guest.

Review 36:the location was convenient position to access all the sites in the city .the room was very clean . cleaner and maintenance man where very helpful, the elevator was god send . i felt very secure as i was travelling alone. I would stay again.

Review 37:Mix up trying to get a full set of keys to include outer door access fob. Instructions re safe non existent in English - male member of staff not interested when I enquired about this (may be something to do with strong smell of alcohol on his breath!!)

Review 38:Breakfast starts serving late (9.00 am on weekends). Bumped my head on sloping ceiling near bed!

Review 39:Breakfasts superb, and served at the table. Friendly staff. Clean.

Review 40:The breakfast was very popular though not my choice

Review 41:Stayed there for an extra night before the Andre Rieu Concert - wished we had stayed there for our whole visit - convenient to the town and everything, very friendly & helpful staff - would stay there again

Review 42:We waited 35min to be served breakfast while other quests came and sat at table next to us and we're served straight away,

Review 43:Location close to busses, river etc.

Review 44:Room safe not working properly.Staff helped but problem still there.

Review 45:Quiet location.Helpful staff.lovely comfortable room with excellent air conditioning in the very hot weather we had during our stay.Excellent breakfast.

Review 46:No bar facilities and breakfast didn't start till 9 am on Saturday Called us a taxi but it was a rip off, 10 euro fixed charge for a very short distance

Review 47:Great location, beautiful room

Review 48:All was fine.

Review 49:The staff was super helpful and nice. Also the room was comfy and good looking. The location of the hotel was in the old part of Maastricht which was very convenient.

Review 50:If you've got issues with stairs, this may not be your best choice- they are steep and narrow.

Review 51:Close to the city center, but still quiet for sleeping, adorable decor. Lovely place to stay.

Review 52:I miss breakfast every time because it isn't served before 8 a.m. Despite this I still find it a wonderful hotel.

Review 53:I have been coming here for years and hopefully will remain doing so in the years to come.

Review 54:- too soft matraces - (very light) smell of pipes in the corridor (not in the room) - I prefer buffet-like breakfast with more choice to breakfast served at the table

Review 55:- location - room/charm of the place - dining room

Review 56:The quality of the room and facilities was just below what I expect of a four star hotel. Breakfast seems to be overpriced.

Review 57:The room was clean and spacious. WiFi worked perfectly.

Review 58:I could not get into the reception on the day of my departure because it was early in the morning (07:30). I had to deposit the hotel key into the post box.

Review 59:I liked the location of the hotel. It is in the shopping district of the town.

Review 60:they accept only credit card payment

Review 61:very nice, modern and elegant accommodation in the city center of Maastricht quiet place, room big enough, small but nice bathroom and bottle of water for free internet was working very good staff was kind big bed very comfortable as well as pillows

Review 62:Travelled to Maastricht from toronto for a concert which turned into an incredible night on the town. We stumbled upon a wild circus party up the street after our show at the Muziekgieterij, then found a hole in the wall pub called Cafe de Karkol which turned out to be packed front to rear patio. After it all we were so happy to collapse into our hotel beds. The room was lovely, comfortable, and hello - waterfall shower!

Review 63:You can hear everything through the walls. 2 of the 4 nights that I stayed I was woken by noise in the hall (eg, people climbing the stairs, someone coughing in their room).

Review 64:Nicely decorated, friendly staff

Review 65:The location is superb; the accommodation ideal; all helped by warm sunny days. We were able to walk around the old town seeing all the sights. Oh yes, if you want an unusual visit, try Apostelhoeve vineyard just outside the city. Wonderful Dutch wine. Now that IS UNUSUAL!!

Review 66:You can see this is a hotel in booking.com. But its really not a hotel. Its just a room, like a apartment flat. Instead if this hotel you can stay all over. No reception, no any secure.

Review 67:Bath smells nice

Review 68:pay more than advertised (extra taxes), no view as described (over the maas...totally not), very soft beds, very very noisy building, rooms are outdated and not as seen on pictures, no lounge to read a book, shower with weak waterstream, roof with angle so bumped my head twice, old watercooker that took a long time to boil water for the powder coffee, cheap shower and shampoo, shower with a curtain, paid for a breakfast I did not have (will be refunded but admin was bad). well not very enthousiastic as you might notice.

Review 69:Loved it all and the location was perfect for us. The jack of all trades waiter had a divine sense of humor. {\fonttbl\f0\fnil\fcharset0 .HelveticaNeueInterface-Regular;} {\colortbl;\red255\green255\blue255;\red0\green0\blue0;\red230\green230\blue230;\red102\green102\blue102; \red255\green255\blue255;\red0\green0\blue0;\red11\green128\blue67;} \deftab720 \itap1\trowd \taflags0 \trgaph108\trleft-108 \trbrdrt\brdrnil \trbrdrl\brdrnil \trbrdrb\brdrs\brdrw20\brdrcf3 \trbrdrr\brdrnil \clvertalt \clshdrawnil \clwWidth480\clftsWidth3 \clmart10 \clmarl10 \clmarb10 \clmarr10 \clbrdrt\brdrnil \clbrdrl\brdrnil \clbrdrb\brdrnil \clbrdrr\brdrnil \clpadt400 \clpadl400 \clpadb400 \clpadr0 \gaph\cellx2880 \clvertalt\clvertalbase \clshdrawnil \clwWidth11400\clftsWidth3 \clmart10 \clmarl10 \clmarb10 \clmarr10 \clbrdrt\brdrnil \clbrdrl\brdrnil \clbrdrb\brdrnil \clbrdrr\brdrnil \clpadt400 \clpadl360

Review 70:There wasn't a wardrobe in the room You have to pay attention to the stairway Non c'era un vero e proprio guardaroba State attenti alle scale perchè sono ripide

Review 71:The location of the hotel is pretty good (it is really close to the Markt) and there are also shops, café and everything you may need all around the hotel. The river is just in front of the building. Staff is friendly. Rooms are ok. My room was furnished with historic furniture and it was very nice. Buona posizione, staff amichevole, camere pulite e piacevoli alla vista. Il Markt è a due passi e la zona è tranquilla ma ben servita

Review 72:Tourist tax which not shown in booking.com was charged, more than €20 for 2ppl 2nights. We just found out when we arrived and paid the rent. Room firstly offered was 1st floor facing traffic road, sound of traffic lights were so loud even with all window closed. But a room change facing back yard was offered.

Review 73:Many lights, bright enough. Room is big and decorated elegantly.

Review 74:Loved the location - near everything I wanted to see and do. I had, in previous years, stayed on the square and it can be quite noisy at night - this was perfect! My room was really charming - clean, comfortable and had its own character. A great place to stay and I'll go back.

Review 75:The bed wasn't the best, and the mattresses kept sliding off the bed itself. Shower could do with a little more pressure.

Review 76:Location is great, only a 15 minute walk from the central station and when you turn the corner you're immediately on the grote markt (2 - 3 minute walk). Room was clean, staff was friendly. Accidentally overstayed in the room with approx. 3 hours, and they didn't mind one bit.

Review 77:Our room was in the first floor, which means that people walk in front of your window. The building is pretty and old, which means it comes with some old building issues, like the smell in the toilet that other users already commented. It is also true that the room is a bit cold, but you just need to switch the radiator on.

Review 78:Location, staff was nice and the breakfast looked awesome (although we did not reserve it and as it was carnival time they could not get it for us).

Review 79:two single beds were put together; shame for a hotel that looks like a perfect fit for couples. Very nice hotel; nice decor, cozy, good location. Value for money! Not sound proof, but that's the price paying for the charm of the historic building. We didn't try the WIFI

Review 80:Heating (attic room) was not functioning, the room was very cold.

Review 81:Spacious and comfy room, complimentary bottle of wine upon check-in (at weekends only). Very quite and private.

Review 82:Nothing - though recommend not using hotel carparking as expensive. Park at Kennedybrugge for only 6e for 24hrs & enjoy a pleasant 0.60km stroll back to the hotel along the river.

Review 83:Gorgeous room with uber-cool decor. Fabulous wetroom with eco-toileteries. Amazing breakfast complete with champagne. Great central location & friendly helpful staff

Review 84:The pillows are of good quality but quite big and somewhat hard. I woke up several times during the night because I couldn't get my head in a comfortable enough position.

Review 85:Location, large room on 1st floor (no. 712), modern bathroom with a good shower, kettle + coffee and tea, comfy bed.

Review 86:The third bed in a room was folding bed and it was not very comfortable

Review 87:Very good location, close to the parking; helpful staff; nice spacious room with modern bathroom; complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival was a nice surprise

Review 88:No elevator and steep steps to rooms, but this is a historic building. The front desk people will take your bags up and down for you, but if you have mobility issues, check if there are any ground floor rooms.

Review 89:Breakfast was gorgeous, fit for a queen. The location is excellent, a couple of minutes' walk to the Markt, one of the main squares of Maastricht. The room was very pretty, immaculately clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. Location is set back from a main street giving onto the river. As one exits the hotel and turns right, the visitor will be in the heart of the old town.

Review 90:No staircase. Effort to carry luggage to upper floors. No English TV channel.

Review 91:Location on the Maas river and around the corner from the Market Square. Very nicely refurbished and decorated. Some parking available on site. Rooms bigger than many in Europe. Bathroom excellent. Good breakfast.

Review 92:Breakfast service was very slow and chaotic. Everthing came spaced over more then 20 minutes: first only a fresh juice, 5 minutes later some fruits, 5 minutes later the coffee and 10 minutes later the omelets. At that point we insisted on getting also the bread, otherwise this would have taken another 10 minutes..!

Review 93:Bad smell in the building at nr 7. Location is in the city center but beware of 'bad' streets in the back of the hotel.

Review 94:Friendly service, good beds and shower. Room with river view. Good atmosphere.

Review 95:There is an uncompfortable smell when you enter rooms building. The breakfast is very poor for the price. the stairs up to the rooms are very narrow and uncompfortable. For a 4 stars hotel, it was expected some help for the luggage transport to the rooms. The park place is very small and not enough for all customers in addition to the high price ( 25 Euro/day ). Thanks to the public parkhouse in the near to the hotel which costs the same price,

Review 96:The room is very good. The bed is compfortable and bathroom is clean and very good. Coffee and tee are served in the room with an ekectric boiler. The hotel location is perfect. In general, the hotel is a very good one for short time vacation or business trip.

Review 97:Unprofessional and rude staff. The breakfast is not convenient. You have to wait for an inefficient service and it wastes your time.

Review 98:Excellent location and clean rooms

Review 99:Receptionist was closing the shop at 9 pm - but on Booking.com the Reception closing time was indicated as 11 pm. I arrived at 20.59, so almost lost my accommodation No minibar in the room Twin instead of king-size bed

Review 100:Authentic design Attractive price Central location

Review 101:Bit skimpy with toiletries and coffee stuff. Heating was amusing ! Parking cost for hotel were high.

Review 102:Superb large room. Balcony too. Great breakfast - almost too much but it lasted us all day!

Review 103:There were no toiletries apart from soap. The traffic noise was fairly loud as our room was top floor above the road. Our room was not cleaned, just fresh towels left outside our door.Should we have left the "Please service our room" sign on our door?

Review 104:Free bottle of local wine on the evening we arrived. Comfortable beds and plenty of towels.Beautiful breakfast room with table service. The staff spoke excellent English.

Review 105:Being offered drugs in the street just down the road from the hotel. Not the hotels fault I know, but clouded my view of the whole stay.

Review 106:Great room, lovely champagne breakfast. Friendly and accommodating staff.

Review 107:We were given a room on a floor that was being painted, the smell was strong and we could not sleep in the morning due to the presence of the working painters, too bad for our hangover..... ;-)

Review 108:Location, cleaning, space and quality of the room, price

Review 109:Could not get a continental breakfast. Went to local cafe. I was told they only did full cooked breakfast! (It was a Sunday so maybe that was the reason)

Review 110:room on 1st floor - noisy outside as hotel workmen just below window. mistake made with my booking dates reception staff somewhat rude (male staff)

Review 111:spacious old style décor comfortable bed cable tv

Review 112:My 'two-night' stay (which actually became one) was, despite the aforementioned positives, ultimately the worst I have ever experienced in any hotel in my entire life. When I asked after the first night whether or not I should hold on to my key or hand it in, the receptionist took the key from me, assuming, as I was told later, that I was checking out, although goodness knows why I would wish to retain my key if I was checking out! When I returned to the hotel at 23.20, I was locked out. No one from security (on the telephone number displayed on the plaque outside the hotel) responded to the calls made from an adjacent café and hotel, so I was forced to pay to stay in another hotel. Although I was reimbursed for the two nights by the receptionist on the following morning when I was finally able to gain entry (no one responded when I knocked loudly on the door at about 07.10, despite the reception being officially open at 07.00) and left notes to enable the manager to contact me on my return to the UK, he failed to take any direct responsibility for what had happened through not contacting me and nine days later I have still heard nothing from him. An unnamed person from the hotel did make e-mail contact, having spoken to the manager, and offered a quite laughable apology for the 'inconvenience', but failed to explain why the problems had occurred. I have now contacted the local newspaper and asked them to publicise my experience of this so-called four-star hotel. I am worried about what happens if a guest is taken ill during the night and 'security' again fails to respond to the call. Staff training is clearly a major issue for this institution, with the manager needing to take a course in customer relations.

Review 113:The hotel building is lovely and the room had character. I slept well and would have appreciated a second night to enjoy the hotel more, rather than being forced to find another hotel because of the stunning ineptitude of certain staff who have clearly not been properly trained.

Review 114:In building nr. 6 wifi doesn´t work, no help from staff with that. VERY bad smell on 1st floor and in bathroom.

Review 115:Great location, comfortable beds, comfortable room.

Review 116:Not sure if this was the app's fault but when we arrived they showed we had booked 4 rooms and not 2. Also, there were no phones in our rooms. In this day and age not a huge deal but if you need the staff it is important.

Review 117:Clean rooms and a friendly staff. The rooms were beautiful. The free WiFi was great. We really enjoyed and would definitely recommend.

Review 118:Would have liked a fridge.

Review 119:A generous room, with nice outlook over river. Large showering/bathroom. Close by supermarket and 5 minutes walk into Centrum.

Review 120:NAMELY EVERYTHING.

Review 121:The position in which the hotel is situated, makes it easy to access the places and events visitors ate looking for without much travel and fatigue, Complimented by the assistance of the fantastic staff and cleanliness,it is just satisfying..

Review 122:It should be advertised as an apartment, not a hotel, ie, no bar, no lift, (our room was up 4 flights of stairs), no phone, our room was very small to be advertised as a quadruple room, small restraunt that only served breakfast at 19 euro p.p.

Review 123:Comfort good, very clean, close to city centre and all ameanities

Review 124:Noisy doors when other guests leave

Review 125:Crispy linen Strong warm shower Friendly Check-in reception staff Eat-out suggestions Complimentary bottle of wine Newspapers at reception to read Quiet during the day Easy walking distance from Shops and restaurants On the bus-route

Review 126:There is no hand soap so you have to go to the shower and use the stuff from there. I was on the side of the main road so it can get noisy and the wifi is unreliable. No onsite parking and the public parking is very expensive at €25 per day.

Review 127:The rooms were clean, large and very comfortable. Good value for money. The location is very good being just a short walk to the centre and you can have a nice view across the river. The positives far outweigh the negatives.

Review 128:When we arrived at the hotel, we were told our rooms would not be ready until 3 oclock and were so tired from travelling we were dissappointed .

Review 129:rooms were very comfortable and very clean and bright.

Review 130:Could have been a lovely hotel but let down by lack of attention to detail and high cost. Breakfast was exceptionally poor, it was expensive with very limited choice, I would have preferred a buffet style offering - there must have lots of waste as each table individually served identical food and I saw a lot being returned uneaten. More attention to detail needed e.g. juice should not be served in hot glasses. Requested butter not provided. Our room - No bar of soap provided, squeezy bottle of liquid soap on wall was by sink, but could not be accessed from shower. What is the logic of providing creamer and sugar in room, but only fruit tea, no coffee or black tea? Would not rebook this hotel.

Review 131:This hotel has a quirky design as it is made up of several houses giving it an attractive exterior. Our room was a good size and attractively decorated. Bed very comfortable. Wifi was free.

Review 132:There is no-one on duty after 10pm as we were running late due to flight delay we just made it

Review 133:The location of the hotel for the concert was very good. The staff were very pleasant and helpfull

Review 134:No toiletries, just soap/shampoo at sink. Kettle provided but no coffee and just one ordinary tea bag which was not replaced the second day.

Review 135:Location

Review 136:The maid have dropped a piece of toilet paper on the floor in my room and left it there! She/he was suppose to be cleaning, not dropping the used toilet paper!

Review 137:Very modern, clean, comfortable room, feels like home away from home. Its really quiet if your windows are looking in to internal yard... Loved the chandeliers! All facilities were functioning perfectly!

Review 138:Breakfast was a rather dysfunctional affair! High parking charges. TV did not work properly. Reception desk sometimes unattended.

Review 139:Closeness to centre. Amazing begonias.
