Reviews for Hanze Hotel Zwolle

Review 1:Perhaps in summer, when you want to open windows wide the street bustle could disturb at night. Rooms are smallish, staying longer than a couple of days may not be a good idea.

Review 2:It's a simple hotel but perfectly adequate, very friendly staff, great location.

Review 3:The hotel is above a Tabas bar. Not a grand hotel, as the pictures let you think. The rooms are very small (also the 'comfort' one is small). The stairs are small. It's all quite smallish. Noisy also. Wirelless is useless.

Review 4:Location and breakfast

Review 5:There is a bar on the ground level was loud with screaming, yelling and shook from the music till after 3am. Worse sleep ever, would not recommend this hotel whatsoever.

Review 6:Nice staff, Great Breakfast, very small but cozy rooms, location close to everything

Review 7:Good rooms with comfortable beds and everything available for a short stay. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is more than sufficient and I also like the fact that there is a cafe/restaurant underneath the hotel.

Review 8:1. It can be noisey, so use the earplugs and expect the street cleaning to start early, even on Sunday. 2. Stairs are steep with heavy luggage

Review 9:1. The Hotel is right next to the Market, so that gives it a great atomsphere but it is noisey. 2. It's easy to get to from the A28 3. Staff are very friendly & helpful

Review 10:The room was VERY cramped, no nearby parking despite advertisements to the contrary! Not recommended if traveling by car.

Review 11:The hotel is located in a central location, ideal for exploring the old town by foot.

Review 12:The restaurant below the hotel is quite noisy and as it's located in the center, there was a lot of noise from bars nearby until late. The hotel does provide free ear plugs though! And the bathroom was very small, but functional.

Review 13:Excellent location, very friendly staff, great breakfast. Beds are very good!

Review 14:The noise outside is so much - and there's no air conditioning.

Review 15:Provided gluten free breakfast and even a packed breakfast when our plane was too early for breakfast time.

Review 16:Nothing in particular. Maybe the third floor rooms are a bit hot.....but during our stay the temperature was 35 degrees....

Review 17:Great location. Classic dutch hotel, with steep stairs and helpful staff. Good breakfast. During weekends you can hear people making mess in the streets and probably it can be noisy and boring for someone. In spite of that, we liked it.

Review 18:If you are looking for a quiet night's sleep don't stay here, many bars/restaurants just under the window which can be noisy but very handy if thats what you want

Review 19:for a 2 star hotel it is exceptional, the only bad thing is the steep stairs and lack of lifts Tapas food very good as was Asian restaurant just beside hotel

Review 20:Bed sheets were not big enough so two were used leaving a massive seam down the middle of the bed! Not comfortable to lay on. Room could do with being updated as it looked a bit dated.

Review 21:Excellent staff. Superb location.

Review 22:We really enjoyed staying in such a nice old style hotel with a lot of character. Nice to have easy access to the lively bar at night for the complimentary glass of wine!

Review 23:Great central location on the market square in Zwolle. Small rooms but comfortable beds. Nice and busy Spanish themed restaurant on the first floor. Very friendly staff. Free wifi and a nice Big LCD tv in the room.

Review 24:Small room, but not really an issue for us.

Review 25:Great location, comfortable bed, friendly staff. Even a nice breakfast buffet with a cappuccino Had I mentioned the great location yet? :)

Review 26:Walls are a tad thin !! Heard every pee. & shower ! Lol

Review 27:Great location. Close to all amenities ;-)) . Comfortable bed . Very clean . Very friendly staff. Would defo come back !!

Review 28:A lovely hotel, fitting in the old city centre of this beautiful town. Bed was good, room was warm (but not too hot) and exceptionally clean! And the staff was wonderful, friendly and helpful

Review 29:Had to phone for milk as none left in the room and also the loo roll was half used and not changed for a new one on day two but this did not spoil our trip.

Review 30:Room was lovely and warm. Served us breakfast at 6am as our flight was early even though they usually start breakfasts from 7am. Tapas bar was very welcoming.

Review 31:Typical Dutch steep stairs. Limited sound reduction between rooms. Our room with a double bed had very little space over for anything else but a bed.

Review 32:Staff and the atmosphere.

Review 33:- The flat screen tv is only a decoration, since the signal is so bad you can't watch anything (on any channel) - The internet was also extremely slow - The room was very small even compared to London standards

Review 34:The staff was very friendly & helpful

Review 35:They were a little bit rude about the payment.First they insisted that I pay when arrived (?!).I informed them that that wasn't possible at the moment and I find it very weird to be asked in a quite good hotel.I have stayed there before never had been requested to pay in advance. The next day they called me cause I didn't sleep in to check if I left without paying even though all my stuff were in the room (?!) All of this preasure was quite disrespectful for me.They informed me that an incident has happened when someone left without paying a really big amount (Which I can understand that can happen) but still asking people to pay in advance for their stay, that they might not even be satisfied with, and then "bother" them about it,it's at least unacceptable for a quite fancy hotel...

Review 36:Good location and gorgeous food. The guy at the reception when I arrived was very helpful and he even arranged for me to have a packed breakfast by my door at 6 in the morning since I had to leave that time for work.

Review 37:When we tried to use the electric kettle someone had previously made, we think, tea in it as it was a third full of brown liquid. Not nice to find somethng which should have been spotted by the cleaning staff. We decided not to boil the kettle.

Review 38:Location

Review 39:looks nothing like the pictures on the site, very small rooms, not very modern Wifi connection is so week, you will give up browsing within 20 seconds

Review 40:in the middle of city center staff is friendly

Review 41:Lovely hotel above a bar/restaurant. No noise though if the windows were shut so had a very comfortable night's sleep. Very friendly staff and a good breakfast.

Review 42:The stairs Cramped rooms Appalled at the way one of the group who's room leaked was moved then moved back again, she was 70 and had to move everything by herself and back again instead of leaving her in the new room, no compensation offered. Over charged on paying which had to be sorted out. Did not have the discounted price from booking .com Rooms very tired and dangerous electrics near water in one room

Review 43:Location Staff Food

Review 44:Poor value for what you pay for food in the Las Rosas Tapas Restaurant.

Review 45:Traveled from Brooklyn NYC to Amsterdam- I stayed at this lovely hotel during the last week of July 2014. My flight arrived in Amsterdam at 1:00 am and I arrived at the hotel at 3:20 am. I had emailed the Hotel in advance to advise them of my early arrival and to be accommodated for early check in. Corrie (the manager) responded shortly thereafter and provided me with her cell phone number so that I could call her upon my arrival. I called and Corrie answered and checked me in with remarkable ease. I stayed in room #30 which is very small. (Keeping in mind that I scored a value deal on booking.com 5 nights for €475).The room is on the top floor with slightly steep stairs. I'm a strong guy so it was no problem hauling my suitcase up 6 flights of stairs. There were two single beds pushed against each other to make a double. The beds would sometimes roll apart and make sleeping a bit uncomfortable if you are a very tall person (194 cm) like myself. At times I would simply confine myself just to one side of the merged beds and I slept fine.I read some reviews about noise from the patio filtering up to the bedrooms. Yes that is the case but when I closed the window the noise was barely audible. I enjoyed sleeping with the window open to get the cool night's breeze. Here's a cool tip (no pun intended) to drown out the noise from the patio: Each room has a mini fan . Simply place the fan on your night table and switch on. The light humming sound drowns out all other noises and you will be able to sleep like a baby. Point the fan away from you if you don't want it blowing on you.Breakfast is included and was adequate. There was a lovely lady there every morning ready to make your coffee, tea or desired beverage. She was helpful in telling me what's around the town of Zwolle. She is quite knowledgeable about the hotel and I was told that it dates back to the 1300s. How amazing is that ?!

Review 96:Forunately/unfortunately I was there on Koningsdag, and live bands were playing right outside my window. The double glazing wasn't proof against the noise, resulting in an almost sleepless night.

Review 97:Friendliness of the staff, who made sure I felt welcome. The location was marvellous, and made exploration of the town super easy.

Review 98:It wasn't clear from the start that I had to park my car in the Q-park nearby. I couldn't reach the Hotel by car. Road was closed with poles. It's a bit noisy on saturday night inside and on sunday morning as well outside (bells, streatcleaning...)

Review 99:The friendly staff, great location, great Spanish restaurant underneath, very comfortable bed.

Review 100:The room was above the kitchen, thus somewhat noisy.

Review 101:The location is charming; the staff very friendly; a bustling atmosphere in the pub, restaurant and the outside terrace.

Review 102:There was a weird smell on the hallways.

Review 103:Everything was quite decent. The hotels was clean and the stuff was friendly. The restaurant downstairs also quite good.

Review 104:the hotel has a blackpool guesthouse feel about it. the stair carpets were very dirty and were giving off a smell, i think this had something to do with the toilet for the downstairs bar were on the 1st floor so was getting some heavy use. the room was clean but a bit cramped. the worst part of the stay was the noise, the hotel bar is open till early a.m and the noise from the bar's out side went on until after 2.00am, then around 4.45 a.m the local market started setting up outside on the cobbles, the noise was horrendous and when i left the hotel i was very tired and looking forward to a sleep. i would not recommend this hotel if you are a family looking for a night's sleep, it would probably appeal to younger single people on a stag night or something similar.

Review 105:the hotel is located in the very heart of zwolle and is ideal for shopping and sightseeing.

Review 106:No elevator, narrow steep stairs. Top floor rooms have sloped ceilings--can be an issue if you are taller.

Review 107:Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was very good. Location was perfect for exploring Zwolle.

Review 108:Very welcoming small hotel in the city center. Very nice way to wake up the old city. I imagine but not sure that the rooms could be a bit noisy in the weekend because the hotel overlooks the old market where there are cafes. We didnt have any trouble with noise however.

Review 112:It was very central!

Review 113:The steps of the ladder leading to the rooms are a little bit dangerous(sort of steep hill).
