Reviews for Chateau Elan At The Vintage

Review 1:Breakfast was a little expensive for a not-so-great buffet style.

Review 2:Beautiful surroundings, in an excellent location. Staff were extremely helpful, polite and always smiling. Great vineyard trip booked through the guest services.

Review 3:If you're looking for late check out don't bother. The staff were very abrupt and made me contact multiple times asking about late check out which was clearly never possible

Review 4:The place is very nice. reception staff were great as was the premises and rooms are nice and tidy

Review 5:This was the first we had stayed there - there was no orientation provided at check-in for the room/facilities and because it rained heavily for the first 3 days/nights we couldn't really explore the grounds etc. Coffee mugs on arrival not washed properly and found chipped.

Review 6:The setting of our 1 Bedroom villa was lovely. We had dinner at the Restaurant one night - meal & service was excellent. Items in the room eg. saucepan's, knives etc, salad bowl ticked all the basic needs boxes.

Review 7:If I was being picky, my group would say that the there is no adult pool and family pool area, just one. Great for families but you have to pick your time if you want a quiet rest poolside. Bar food menu could be a little wider. Lighting in bedroom is a little strange as it is obscured when you open the wardrobe doors which means that you can't see what is in the wardrobe.

Review 8:Very quiet. Lovely grounds. Fantastic golf course which was not busy at all in January and was empty at 5pm to play on your own. Rooms were amazingly comfortable. Staff were fantastic and incredibly attentive.

Review 9:Weather!!!!

Review 10:Fantastic location Exceptional customer service - staff pro-active - some of the best customer service I have received in Australia Great restaurant - food delicious - great wine recommended by staff

Review 11:It was raining and the Wifi was down (they didn't tell us this, we fiddled around to connect to it until we inquired with the front desk). We requested a buggy to take us to the pool building as it was raining and it never arrived. There was no body wash/ bath gel to use for the bath, only bottles of shampoo/conditioner. I advised the front desk of this upon check out and no effort was made to recover the experience,

Review 12:Overall the place is nice enough and a reasonable price for the ratings it has received, but for these ratings you'd expect more organisation and service.

Review 13:That the rooms have adjoining balconies which meant less privacy. It wasn't relaxing or comfortable for us to use our balcony as we can here the neighbors whole conversation. I can see this would be great if you had family or friends staying in the room next to you. When we arrived the cleaner had missed a dirty ashtray on the balcony but the next day the cleaner had thankfully taken it away without us mentioning it.

Review 14:Staff are extremely helpful, professional and friendly. The rooms were really quiet. Food and service at Legends was great. I love the fact there was an outdoor cinema, even though we didn't get a chance to use it. We walked to the main reception from our villas but how nice of staff to often stop to check if we would like a ride in the golf buggy.

Review 15:My only complaint would be to have been told after I booked that I needed to book a table for dinner in the restaurant and book to play tennis.

Review 16:The staff were lovely and extremely helpful.

Review 17:Very short but pleasant stay. The rooms are a great size, very comfortable, the views are beautiful. We've stayed here before and will do so again. Our international guests were very impressed!

Review 18:There were a few things that didn't match up with the cost/rating of the hotel: room service was only available from 5-10pm and the menu was minimal; the beds were never made properly, with overused sheets (clear wear and tear) that weren't tucked in; and the breakfast was underwhelming. The only other thing I'd add is that the hotel seems to be a really family friendly place, which is great for families, but it meant some things were a little less relaxing than we'd hoped. For example, when we were at the pool, there were always a large number of young children around (who were lovely, but loud!).

Review 19:It was in a very central location to the wineries and there were some perks that made it feel like a luxury resort (buggies were on offer to pick you up from your room and take you anywhere on the property, for example). I also liked the tennis courts and the courtyard on our room opened up onto the golf course, where kangaroos fed each afternoon! It was also great to have a spa on hand for any additional relaxation needs.

Review 20:The AC had to run all night because of no security on fly screen doors.

Review 21:Rooms are comfortable clean and spacious. Tried the restaurant for a simple lunch which was very nice and accompanied with a good wine selection.

Review 22:Poor on-site restaurant with average food and appalling service - not at all in keeping with the five star accommodation.

Review 23:Luxurious accommodation with all mod cons and lovely views. Hotel staff were courteous and helpful.

Review 24:The wifi did not work at villa 8 and eventhough we moved to villa 3 the wifi was very slow.

Review 25:We stayed at their villa. The place was spacious and quite new. Nice good view and we could see the Kangaroos! The staffs were very helpful and friendly (especially Ryan, assisted us with moving to another villa because of the wifi did not work). Great relaxing holiday!

Review 26:Nothing. All good.

Review 27:Villa was really stylish and had everything we needed inc a truly comfy bed, microwave, fridge & freezer. View from rooms was great. Staff without exception were friendly & efficient. Kangaroos galore.

Review 28:Eating utensils were filthy, we could still smell the coffee from the last user on the filter as it was littered with grit. The kitchen and bathroom floor had human hair from the last tenants, when we complained we were assured cleaning staff would rectify the situation but this never took effect

Review 29:Solitude

Review 30:Excellent standard , a beautiful room with a luxurious yet relaxed feel to it. We were treated so well by reception staff and our room had everything we could wish for.

Review 31:Breakfast buffet was meh for the price but still ok.

Review 32:Amazing property, friendly helpful staff and wild kangaroos galore bopping around. Room was fabulous with gorgeous views.

Review 33:There is an attractive bar just beyond the reception area, however it only serves whisky, which probably excludes about 80% of the hotel's clientele. We arrived back at the hotel after a concert at 10.15pm, and found that the bar was closed, as was room service, which finished at 10pm. We booked our accommodation eight months in advance, as we were attending a nearby concert. There was no other accommodation available at the time, and this hotel cashed in on the shortage by more than doubling the room rate. We had to pay $800 per night and with a two night minimum stay it was a very costly weekend. Breakfast was not included in this price!

Review 34:The hotel is situated within a golfing, residential community, on the golf course, close to Pokolbin and many of Hunter Valley's wineries and restaurants. The rooms are large and nicely furnished.

Review 35:I should say the value for money for me is tricky we stayed for Fleetwood Mac at Hope estate so kind of ridiculously expensive but at the same time so worth it and would do it again

Review 36:After paying $998.00 for the 2 nights, surely you would like to think breakfast is included? Also the pillows on the bed are like tree logs. HARD as a rock. We both left on Sunday morning with very bad stiff necks.

Review 37:Location & very friendly staff, especially Kristen who went to the trouble to find & book us a table for two on the Friday night for dinner. She booked as at Il Cacciatore Restaurant which was absolutely superb!

Review 38:The bed is too soft, it did cause my back pain after two nights sleep there.

Review 39:Good hotel room setup. It would be good to have an indoor swimming pool or a gym.

Review 40:The rooms were very spacious. I enjoyed having access to an outdoor patio and grassed area from our room. The view was very relaxing looking out over the golf course. The rooms were very quiet.

Review 41:Expected a little more from the restaurant (for e.g decent espresso/freshly made coffees at breakfast; more interesting dinner menu). Gorgeous whiskey bar was not open all weekend. Leaf blower being operated at 7am Sunday morning (!) by an over zealous worker (futile effort anyway given breezes day!)

Review 42:Good pool, nice room & friendly & generally helpful staff.

Review 43:Partly stayed here because of the kitchen. Kitchen itself was great and worked well, although it could do with additional cooking equipment ie. Fry pan, cleaning products.

Review 44:Great accomodation in a fantastic location. Booked a villa during a sale on Booking.com and was absolutely delighted by the location and size of the room. Will definately stay again.

Review 45:The bar was closed for renovation so the only place to get a drink was at the bar further down but couldn't take anything back to the room from there

Review 46:The room and location were amazing

Review 47:Breakfasts are not Good for such a hotel. It is very average.

Review 48:It is in a beautiful golf course with excellent views. Hotel is very clean and rooms have everything you need. Had a very pleasant stay.

Review 49:Confusion of staff to confirm if breakfast was included in the fare. Reception and cafe staff differed in their response. For the price, a small buffet breakfast might have been included. Room lighting was extremely poor especially at night.

Review 50:Rooms comfortable and presentable.

Review 51:My boyfriend and i stayed in the king room and it was amazing. Roomy and very luxurious couldnt complain about a thing. The hotel staff arranged us cabs to our restaraunt for dinner and were very attentative. Highly recommended this place to anyone, affordable and like nothing else you will find in the hunter valley.

Review 52:The only thing we didn't like was the bed it was clean, linen was very nice however, it was not as comfortable as we had hoped. The bed was quite hard - otherwise fabulous place to stay. Would definitely stay there again

Review 53:Loved the rooms and the staff were wonderful - really excellent service. Gorgeous surroundings would definitely go back to stay.

Review 54:- Wifi hotel internet was weak and did not allow any type of streaming (could not even use youtube/spotify for a first dance wedding song!) - Be prepared - Mobile reception non-existant - Limited room service menu and only abailable from 5pm to 10pm

Review 55:- Staff were wonderful. - Prompt buggy service to all points of the grounds. - Lovely clean villa positioned on 10th hole of the Greg Norman designed golf course - Kitchenette with gas stove, dishwasher, washing machine all in villa - Wine tours, helecopters, vineyard recommendations all available through reception

Review 56:Nothing

Review 57:Everything was beautiful! The rooms were spacious, modern and clean. The staff were welcoming and friendly. And so many activities you can't get bored!

Review 58:Everything was fantastic. The staff (who suggested and booked dinners on our behalf for us) - they were great! Legends grill was great! Extremely helpful all round

Review 59:No bad experience. More that it was a bit disappointing that the place did not offer any bath salts in their mini-bar when there is a spa bath in the room. Otherwise, it has all the comforts of home.

Review 60:We picked this place for its convenient on-site spa-salon as well as the facilities. It did not disappoint. It was clean & comfortable; offered a number of facilities as well as the Spa; staff were helpful & friendly. If staying for a few days, it is well-worth the extra cost to have a place to stay, which is more than a place to sleep.

Review 61:When showered water leaked onto bathroom floor causing a safety hazard. Balcony on villa had no privacy as adjoining villa's guests walked the length of the alcony without any concerns hence we ended up closing curtains and spending time in darkness.

Review 62:Not much to like.

Review 63:They had unfortunately made a mistake on my orders twice. but they were happily to replace it without any fuss.

Review 64:As you enter this place your filled with such tranquility and peace. This is then followed with sophisticated and friendly stuff who make your stay as comfortable as possible. The room that I had booked had a breathtaking view of the valleys, luckily one morning I was blessed to wake up to a thick blanket of fog that just took my breath away. The bed was placed right in front of the large open sliding glass doors and the private spa bath was conveniently placed behind the bed. Overall the room was perfect and spacious. The stay was well worth it and I hope I'll get to stay again soon.

Review 65:We weren't asked reason for our visit/stay. we were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. Seemed they didn't care why we were there as long as they were getting our money. Shangri La Sydney did it much better on our 30th.

Review 66:Lovely surrounds, peaceful - wouldn't have known anyone else was there.

Review 67:Gorgous property, amazing room which was enormous, great bathroom with huge shower and spa bath. Our new favorite in the central hunter area, will definitely stay there again, and probably only there!

Review 68:The staff were genuine and not "over the top " The room was immaculate The bed was very comfortable The room was very clean The fireplace was perfect

Review 69:The bed was very soft, as were the pillows. And the sheets felt very rough. Despite a fully functioning kitchen with frypans etc, there was no toaster which was odd. Room service was very expensive.

Review 70:The property is in a great location and the room was immaculate and modern. The staff were very helpful and professional. Cafe Elan in the main hotel building is gorgeous and has an amazing selection of scotch. Legends bar and grill at the club house is also fantastic. The Spa is gorgeous.

Review 71:The pillow are to plumped for sleeping .need a chair or a bench in bathroom to put your cloth on.no robe for after shower. Other wise we had a Great time .Great

Review 72:Breakfast was great. Room was very comfortable. The views are magic.

Review 73:The decor of the room was out dated. Also the room lay out was confusing you had the tv unit in the middle of the room obstructing the view. The bathroom was spacious however the shower leaked through the whole bathroom which made it very messy and not clean. Also being that you are a 5 star hotel you should have a bathrobe and slippers. Also we requested ice to be brought to our room the ice was brought in a rubbish bag..how do you except me to put that ice in my drink? ???? Was very confused. Your reception area made me think that my room would be amazing but i was very disappointed when i walked into my room it just looked old and not luxury.

Review 74:The location was convenient. The staff were friendly.

Review 75:My partner and I went to the hunter valley for a weekend away. The resort had fantastic helpful staff, magnificent grounds and brilliant accommodation. Definitely worth the price tag and made our romantic weekend away unforgettable. Will definitely be going back!

Review 76:The sofa wasn't very comfortable and was too small especially for the size of the villa.

Review 77:Room was clean, location was fantastic and the view was gorgeous

Review 78:The wi-fi signals were weak and the password for them were really long. Weak mobile phone 4G reception.

Review 79:The electronic massage bed was the best. The indoor spa next to the bed was amazing. Felt like we were in a palace. The little things including the flat screen TV that swivels at the base and the theme was cute. The greenery outside was really nice and we even saw kangaroos!

Review 80:nothing!

Review 81:stayed one night on 28/6. my birthday was on 29/6 and while we were out for the afternoon a bottle of sparkling appeared with a note wishing me a happy birthday. very thoughtful. the fire in the room was lit when we arrived too and we were able to check in an hr early. the room was spacious, comfortable and the toiletries very nice. we also had dinner at Legends Grill and the food was amazing! can't fault the Chateau Elan. wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 82:Loved it all

Review 83:Rooms have all the conveniences and are spacious great views awesome comfy bed Love the restaurant for dinner great choices Breakfast was quite sufficient but fairly expensive I prefer choosing from a menu rather than a buffet but that's a personal choice

Review 84:Breakfast was a bit disappointing - I asked for an omelette and was told that the buffet was the only option. Dinner was good though.

Review 85:Clean, well set up villa,. Friendly staff

Review 86:The cooking utensils were fine but the pots were average. They were not non stick so burnt out pots that we had to scrub after cooking bacon and eggs. The fold away couch wasn't particularly comfortable but what can you expect.

Review 87:Loved the staff. They were amazing and so helpful. Took advantage of staying an additional night with their special they were offering at the time and so easy to organize. Great facilities and close to everything.

Review 88:Room Service Menu is tiny, No kids meals on there either which isn't uncommon. Everything is over $20 and there is a $7 delivery charge ????

Review 89:Nice Big open space, Plenty of Room. Big Bed and Great size spa bath. Love the place.

Review 90:The coffee system at Breakfast need a better system for separating Coffee and Tea drinkers - long line, no signage to say if you would like we are happy to make your coffee at the Café (provide an option if people don't want to wait in line) .. Hot water for Tea Drinkers only to avoid coffee slops from the machine as it is used mainly for Coffee Drinkers.

Review 91:Pretty much everything

Review 92:The distance between the villa's and the restaurant. But they will pick you up and bring you back with a golf cart on request! :)

Review 93:Beautiful and spacious one bedroom villa. Magnificent view. Well equipped kitchen. Hot tub in bathroom. Kangaroos on the premises. Lovely dinner and breakfast. Heated outside pool and jacuzzi. Child friendly. Book the horse carriage wine tasting tour from the reception, it's very nice.

Review 94:Breakfast is $38/head on top of what you're already paying to stay at the hotel and it's not a noteworthy buffet. A standard 50 minute massage was $140 and despite the spa and dipping pool being out of order, the price was not reduced. We could have had the same experience in Sydney for $80 each.

Review 95:Helpful and pleasant staff Lovely facilities Central location for vineyard exploring

Review 96:The weather! But what can you do, just unlucky.

Review 97:Everything! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Jeff the food and beverages manager was an all round top bloke who made us feel very comfortable as the storm set in.

Review 98:We ordered a cheese platter on arrival for Fri night. We left it out to be cleaned away on Sat and it was still there on Sunday.

Review 99:Bed was amazing!! Staff lovely and helpful!

Review 100:The jet master gas fire in the living area made us feel cosy despite the rain. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. The Vintage Golf Course and the staff in the pro shop were excellent.

Review 101:The room was so peaceful, you could see kangaroos at sunrise and sunset! Breakfast buffet was the best but maybe some better coffee? Like nespressos! Bed was too soft though but rooms were really nice and spacious. Tennis courts nice and so was the pool, a little bit far away from wineries etc but you could access by car anyway.

Review 102:Asked for some extra things through room service. A young lady came to the room and I asked her for a clean tea towel and paper towels. Never received them.

Review 103:The view from the balcony. Arrived 2 pm Thursday at villa 6. Started to unload the car and one of the gentlemen from your golf buggies insisted on helping us with the luggage. Our son was getting married at Margan so we had a lot of luggage.

Review 104:Could hear people in next rooms & some had young children crying should be adults only, breakfast very expensive have it down the road it's half price !

Review 105:Staff very good

Review 106:- the lounges weren't very comfortable, so we instead opted to hang out and watch tv in the bedroom (when we had the free time) instead of the living room (which isn't really a bad thing, but I'd thought I'd mention it). - our balcony was shared with the villa room next door to us, and did not have a privacy screen or any sort of barrier. This made us paranoid enough that we had to lock all doors (with the locks being an absolute pain) that led onto the balcony, and also keep the curtains closed, which completely defeated the purpose of having large windows and a balcony that looked out onto the surrounding countryside. - the parking spaces for the villas should be marked according to room numbers, and reserved for the vehicle of the people staying in that particular room. The two nights we stayed there, we came home from dinner late and all car spaces around our villa were taken, making us have to park quite a walk away.

Review 107:- the hotel did not look or feel like a hotel, it was more like a village in the french countryside! - staff were great! The buggy service within the hotel grounds is such an amazing idea, we talked and laughed with our chauffeur the whole way from our villa to the main reception building. - we were upgraded to a one-bedroom villa room free of charge, and it was amazing!

Review 108:Taking 11 hours to drive there from Brisbane because of road works!! Other than that..... nothing at all. Everything was fantastic!

Review 109:The quietness was amazing. To hear the birds chirping, see the Roo's grazing... such a wonderful change. The staff simply can't do enough for you. From a simple friendly greeting through to getting picked up at your door by a golf buggy to go...... anywhere on the Estate you needed to. The Villa's are extremely comfortable and clean with such serenity around them. Truely enjoyable to be doing nothing at all!

Review 110:Breakfast is overpriced. No free Wi-Fi in room. Pillow options.

Review 111:Friendly and professional staff from cleaners to reception. The wait and management staff at the clubhouse restaurant bent over backwards to ensure that we enjoyed a quiet dinner after a tiring day of road travel. Spacious, airy design of the room and ensuite. Excellent air-conditioning. Gorgeous, golf course vista. Availability of spa and hair salon services.

Review 112:Lack of room cleaning during the stay, didnt happen every day and the couche is not a big comfy cocuhe for such a beautiful apartment.

Review 113:Great location, facilities and staff

Review 114:It would be good if the verandah on the adjoining rooms had a divider that you could pull out so that when different people were staying in the rooms you had your own private verandah and they did not have access to directly outside your sliding door.It just would make it a bit more private. Just a small thing.

Review 115:Great location. Friendly staff

Review 116:It was too expensive . For the price it was understaffed .

Review 117:Facilities were excellent and rooms were very comfortable and clean . Surroundings are beautiful

Review 118:A bit far from the pool and gym, although a free golf buggy pick-up service was provided. Pool was small and crowded with little kids, but I thought it might be, in the holidays - so not too annoying.

Review 119:I loved the spacious, clean, well-equipped apartment. Very comfortable bed. Relaxing.

Review 120:Somewhat limited wifi.

Review 121:We loved seeing the Kangaroos outside the Villa in the morning. Golf course excellent a challenge but not unplayable for mid. Handicappers. Villa excellent , very clean, comfortable.

Review 122:We have only been to the Hunter Valley 2 times and both times we stayed at Chateau Elan. We love the rooms, how spacious they are especially the Spa Suites, how peaceful it is and how friendly the staff is. I cannot fault this hotel. Too good not to stay!!!

Review 123:Absolutely nothing.

Review 124:Visited for the umpteenth time here. Never any different. Amazing stay from beginning to end. So good we bought a plot at The Vintage.

Review 125:we didnt like the breakfast and expected a little more but i suppose a buffet breakfast is a buffet breakfast. A dedicated breakfast menu and barista would be a great addition. Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Review 126:The pool could be nice if it wasnt over run with screaming children who jump in almost on top if you. Parents left kids unattended and there is no staff at the pool to keep any order.

Review 127:Loved the spa villa, it was spacious, clean and quiet. Staff were excellent and extremely helpful.

Review 128:In theory this is a 5 star hotel. Due to our experience it was far from that. We stayed for 2 nights. The Friday night we noticed Ants in the kitchen part of our villa on the worktop. Called reception and we were asked if we would like them cleaned up. I thought that the answer to that question would be obvious. So we just said no well do it ourselves. Saturday morning we woke up and the kitchen worktop was covered in ants again except this time there was easily 200 of them. We called reception again to tell them the issue and was told the cleaners would get rid of them while we were out. Came back Saturday evening and the worktop was cleared of ants however I noticed something on the corner of the cupboard. Stood up on a chair to look closer and it was a nest of ants again. While on the chair I put my hand on the shelf where the glasses are kept and it was layered with dust like it hadnt been cleaned in a long time. The girl from the front office came down and spent 30mins cleaning. She asked if we still wanted to stay as there were no other available rooms. We would have left except we had been wine tasting so couldnt drive. Definitely ruined our time here and could not relax in comfort and will not be returning here again. All we received was an apology and a bottle of wine which we did not accept.

Review 129:Watching the lightning across the valley. The location The spa bath

Review 130:Pool area is basic, lacking in su beds, noisy and uncomfortable. Not at the standard of a 5 star hotel. It felt more like a mid-grade noisy family resort. Grounds could be better utilised for outdoor walks.

Review 131:Large rooms which are clean and comfortable. Spacious grounds with views across golf course.

Review 132:Not sure if this was just our villa - it was just so strange that with everything else being of a luxurious standard, the balcony was shared with another villa. This should be mentioned upfront when you are checking in, particularly to couples who are expecting privacy. I was walking around in the living area when a man next door thought it was fine to just walk across our balcony, have a look into our villa, grab a chair from our side and bring it over to his without returning it. When I told reception, they said this shouldn't have happened but didn't do anything about it. We're not talking a distance of 5-10m away, they are literally sitting 2m from your balcony door - you have to shut your curtains when your neighbours are sitting out there if you want privacy - it's such a waste of the view. You do not get any warning that this happens and with the way everything else is built, it's amazing that they couldn't just include a cheap wall or screen in between to separate the balconies. The other issue was minor and understandably difficult to control - there were lots of ants hiding in the jets of the spa bath. This was washed out immediately when housekeeping was notified but you may want want to keep an eye out on the water.

Review 133:The property is spacious, comfortable and unique - particularly if you get a villa for a couple. It's probably around 70+ sqm of well-planned space (excepting the balcony). I like that you had a little bit of a walk to the other areas, it made it feel like a true golf/country resort.

Review 134:Limited selection of food on menu. Husband got very ill all night and all of the next day after dining there. Entrée was Scallops and the main was Fillet Mignon. This obviously spoilt our second day completely.

Review 135:nothing

Review 136:The location and surroundings were very good and gave a relaxing atmosphere. The room was excellent it was clean with everything we needed for a stay. The staff were happy to collect you in a golf buggy to take you to the restaurant if necessary.
