Reviews for Madoldu eco resort

Review 1:I got the feeling that nobody had stayed in the room in which we slept for maybe a week before our arrival, and that the room had been cleaned upon the check-out of the previous guests but not before we came. So there was quite a bit of gecko (and maybe rat?) poop especially in the bathroom and on top of the mosquito net. Also, we rented two bikes for which he charged 500 Rs each. My boyfriend had a great bike and felt 500 was fine, but my bike's seat was low and couldn't be adjusted, the brakes weren't great, the chain kept skipping (almost causing an accident on a busy road), and the axel of one of the pedal was bent. The pin isn't quite right on the map, but we discussed with the owner how he could change it. If you're coming from Koggala station, cross the bridge over the lake and take the 2nd or 3rd left. Keep going all the way to the dead end and the resort will be next to the temple (or simply follow directions to the temple in Google Maps).

Review 2:We were the only guests that night so they gave us the best room at the very top with a gorgeous view of the lake even though we'd paid for a cheaper room. The two staff members we met were accommodating and patient, and they gave us a lift back to the train station upon check-out. Also, we had rented bikes for the afternoon and stopped in town for dinner so got back well after dark. It was dangerous riding on the side of the road in the dark, and the owner of the hotel had been nervous when we didn't come back so had called the number of mine he had that come through the reservation (though I'd bought a Sri Lankan SIM so had a different number and didn't get the call). It was sweet that they worried. In the morning we had delicious breakfast (daal and string hoppers, fruit, and tea) in the garden and they told us about monkeys. One staff member told us about his Doberman and when we expressed interest, he took us to his adjoining property and we got to play with his adorable dog. <3

Review 3:It was very pleasant and quiet only the mosquitos demanded repellant.

Review 4:The owner was very friendly and helped me make a success of my journey with his personal attendance. He organised f.i. a very good ayurvedic massage for me. The food was good, the accomadation has a beautiful view over the lake and a monkey visited me once. I loved the place.

Review 5:Its a bit far to the beach

Review 6:Beautiful garden, great trip to the lagoon, staff was great and helpful, room was very luxury and clean, great garden with flowers and monkeys in the evening, great for people who want to spend quality time in nature and ideal to relax for some days

Review 7:It would have been nice if the room had been cleaned more often - they only did it if we asked.

Review 8:Amazing service, great food (Sri Lankan and Italian - the Sri Lankan breakfast was especially good) and lovely rooms. We stayed in the room at the top of the house which has a lovely view of the lake and a very nice private terrace. The staff were very attentive and happy to help with anything we needed. Overall a very nice place to stay, a little off the main street so away from the noisy road.

Review 9:The guesthouse has 5 rooms. The best rooms are on the first and second floor; the two rooms at the ground floor are rather dark. Lots of mosquitoes and a repellent is a necessity, but the beds do have nets. The rooms are not particularly clean and they only clean it if you ask them to do it. Slow wifi that only works on the first floor. Not all days had hot water. A tuk tuk (3-wheeler) is needed to go anywhere, but the staff can easily order one for you.

Review 10:Nice setting at the bank of Koggala lake with monkeys passing through the garden from time to time. Very friendly and helpful staff, that made New Years Eve a great event for all the guests. The cook (who lived in Italy for 20 years) makes very good food (both Sri Lankan and Italian) at affordable prices. The staff was very helpful with organizing trips etc.

Review 11:Bit too far from the main road. Too much of mosquitoes.

Review 12:It was a short stay of one night. Had a friendly staff. Family owned business just started the facility. Long way to grow as a better place. Nice views though.

Review 13:I liked the way you were made welcome by the owner and staff, Nothing was a problem ,

Review 14:Position on map is not correct

Review 15:Very frendly and helpful. He Even Drove us to the Bus Station :-)

Review 16:far from the beach (we borrowed free bicycles) staff do not speak English well

Review 17:very beautiful garden- large comfortable rooms
