Reviews for Hotel Al Walid

Review 1:I really did not like the blanket and bedspread situation, the blanket was that weird, spongy, fuzzy, polyester fabric, and the bedspread was old and perhaps clean (?), but it served the purpose for the evening.

Review 2:The staff at the front desk were so friendly. Breakfast was a simple buffet, but had good options and was really tasty. It was relatively quiet, despite facing the square and train station.

Review 3:The restaurant was not open when we were super hungry after our late arrival. We didn't feel like venturing out being our first night in town. The neighborhood is a "train station" neighborhood, meaning, busy, a bit intimidating (never felt unsafe)

Review 4:Very convenient location if you need to be by train station (Casa Voyeur). Not close to the airport, so plan accordingly, specially if you arrive late at night. There is a train that you can take from the airport (cheapest option, but also not the most convenient if you are tired, have lots/heavy luggage). The taxi fee was $35 US dollars.

Review 5:My son left his passport home by mistake. He did have a photo copy of it. The woman who was checking me in said that because he did not have his passport in hand, he could not stay there. I explained that I was his mother. I had my passport, and she could make a copy of his photocopy but she refused. Later that night when I returned to the hotel, I had my son come with me because I paid for 2 people. At 11:00 pm that night the front desk called me and told me that I was posing a security risk in their hotel because my son did not have his actual passport. I told him that I was not posing any security risk, and that I was his mother, and that there should not be a problem. He told me to come to the front desk where he made another photocopy of my passport, and made a photocopy of my son's photocopy. The woman who checked me in that morning could have done the same, but she was bent on making things difficult for my son and I. If the policy is that you must have your passport in hand to check into a hotel in Morocco or any country, you should make note of that on the Booking.com website, along with the info about check-in, and check-out times, payment policies, cancellation policies, and information about the passport policy as well. Also, the cleaning woman came into my room while my son and I was in there at 10:30 in the morning without my permission to clean the room. The staff was absolutely horrible. Cold, unfriendly, and unwelcoming!!!

Review 6:The hotel was clean

Review 7:The hotel didn't have a hair dryer for each room. But after we asked, the staff at front desk delivered to us very fast! We really appreciate it.

Review 8:The location is perfect!!! 2 mins walk to Cass voyages. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful, they provided us a map and tips to look inside the city!

Review 9:Not sound proofed - could hear all the conversations next door. The facilities seemed to be the bare minimum and were not super nice for the price paid.

Review 10:Close to the train station.

Review 11:I travel all over the world: NO-ONE has a right to peep into my Hotel room and tell me who is invited to my room, and who is NOT! This hotel was worse than that: I reserved another room (besides mine) for my friends. I welcome my friends and took them to the hotel room that I reserved from them and got a call as soon as I opened the room-door for them saying that: "if she is NOT your wife, you are not allowed in her room"...........what? I will NEVER ever reserve an other room in this hotel!

Review 12:nothing extra-ordinary for a hotel, except English some speaking staff in a city where English was not a popular language

Review 13:Check-in was very smooth for our group of 8 with the unexpected bonus of having our rooms upgraded. Thank you to receptionist, Siham, who was very professional and helpful! The porter also delivered all our bags to our rooms. Overall, our two-night stay was a pleasant experience.

Review 14:This hotel location is perfect for the train. We stayed 2 nights at the start of our Morocco trip and one night at the end. They kept some luggage during the two week interim at no charge. Always very polite and helpful. The hotel itself is very satisfactory. Not wonderful but very adequate, safe and convenient. You can see the hotel across the square from the station. The walk is well lit and secure. If they run out of breakfast items - just ask them. They will refill promptly.

Review 15:Couldn't change air-con temperature and staff didn't respond to request.

Review 16:Very close to train station for airport and other cities; also very close to tram stop.

Review 17:Breakfast, coffee was horrible, no ironing service i think it's a most to have an iron facility.

Review 18:The cleaning of the room and the toilet, fast check in/out, Nice staff

Review 19:My room was quite small. On my floor there was some maintainance work going on. I could hear a lot of what was going on next to my room, including other people's tv. Breakfast was very basic. No safe for personal valuables.

Review 20:Very close to one of tre main train stations. Price not too high.

Review 21:No bad experiences

Review 22:Lovely breakfast, friendly English speaking reception staff, spotless environment to stay in. ATM next to hotel and the proximity to train station & city tram makes it very convenient to get around.

Review 23:Nothing bad.

Review 24:Perfect location literally opposite Gare Voyageurs which is the main railway station of Casablanca. Next to the tram stop which takes you all over the city. Extremely friendly and helpful staff at the reception. Good breakfast. Fast internet connection.

Review 25:We did try to find an appropriate place for dinner that night but there was nothing suitable to be found in this area. We ended up eating at the hotel and chose a rather plain meal as we weren't feeling 100%. The meal was fine for what we paid but the staff all looked like they wanted to be somewhere else.

Review 26:We were arriving from Marrakesh by train late in the afternoon and we were heading straight to the airport by train in the morning. This was a perfect spot for us under these circumstances as it is a short stroll to the station. The desk staff were good and the porter helped set up the A/C with no fuss. The tariff was very reasonable for the type of hotel.

Review 27:view on roofs and a construction site (noisy)

Review 28:location, clean room, payment in euro or dirham, english channels on tv, airco, working wifi, a small refrigerator

Review 29:Mould round the shower room 107 Really old dirty stained towels in both rooms 502 and 107

Review 30:The location for trams and trains is good and cheap Wifi is good

Review 31:Air conditioning would not go lower tha 24.5.

Review 32:Staff was very pleasant & helpful. Food was good and inexpensive in restaurant. we came in on airport train and left on train to Rabat & train station was only about 100 yards. From the hotel.

Review 33:Bellboy took the lightest bag (a small backpack), didn't offer to take our other bags. I didn't even require his services but he came along regardless... Bathroom smelt a bit, lacked ventilation.

Review 34:Close to train station. One of the only places that took credit card.

Review 35:It took a while for the hot water to come through in the shower, but nothing too concerning.

Review 36:It was for an overnight stay before traveling on in Morocco and the location directly opposite the train station was perfect. We were catching the train from Casablanca to Fes the following day.

Review 37:we stayed in Al Walid hotel because our plane arrived in Casablanca late in the night, and we were traveling to Marrakesh by train early in the morning. So we just slept one night there. It was ok. The breakfast was nice.

Review 38:Very small room, tiny window. I was not expecting much. Chose it because it has better ratings than ibis despite it was more expensive. I booked a room for myself since I will be leaving very early Saturday morning. My wife leaves on Friday afternoon. They would not let my wife go upstairs unless I pay 400 DH extra! I explained to them that she will take a flight in the afternoon but that was not use. Very strange policy! If you stay here, you won't be able to have a friend visit you. This is the first time I had experiences a hotel with such a policy. Don't know why.

Review 39:Close to the train station. Casa Voyager.

Review 40:To see Casablanca it's not a good location

Review 41:Not centrally located but next to tram station and train station. If you take the train out of Casa Voyageurs in the morning this is a good location. The rooms and breakfast were ok for the price.

Review 42:Terrible coffee from machine; could not drink it.

Review 43:Very close to Casablanca train station which is opposite hotel, about 2 minutes walk. Staff welcoming & informative; hotel next to ATM & money exchange. Basic, no frills accommodation, in downtown but quiet area. Good choice if you're travelling by train or tram in the city. Wifi was good even though we were on 3rd floor. Decent breakfast buffet & variety, but avoid the coffee which comes out of a machine. Staff at reception spoke English, but restaurant staff not much though they kindly made an effort to do so. I'll recommend this hotel for a one or two night stay if you're travelling from Casablanca by train to another city. Choose 1st class tickets (we went to Marrakech, 3 hours, very comfortable journey). Rooms were smallish and clean.

Review 44:Could have had more toiletries. Food at buffet breakfast wasn't the greatest, just passable. Bring your own water.

Review 45:Very helpful and friendly English-speaking staff, I really want to stress that. Decent rooms with nice blackout curtains. Overall a great stay to pass through Casablanca as it is near the station and trams.

Review 46:Nothing important, maybe breakfast could be quite boring for people who spent more days in hotel.

Review 47:The hotel has a good location near train station and tram stop. Our room had a nice view on the square in front of the hotel ...

Review 48:I could see the hotel sign the moment l walked out of casa Voyageurs station which was comforting for a traveler . From then , l found it a very pleasant place to explore Casablanca .

Review 49:Nothing in particular. It is a good place to stay for a couple of nights in Casablanca. We stayed only for one night on our way to El Jadida.

Review 50:The location of the hotel is very practical, close to Casa-Voyageurs and five tram stops away from the centre. The room was clean and as shown on pictures. Beds were comfortable and wifi worked very well. Breakfast was good, with a good variety of products, but in a Moroccan style (which worked fine for us). Staff was friendly and courteous.

Review 51:Just so-so WiFi, sometimes it would just disappear or slow to a crawl. What is it with Morocco and its below average WiFi?

Review 52:Excellent breakfast, room, service. Best hotel I stayed in in two months in Morocco. Maybe the best attribute of Al Walid is that is directly across from a small park from the train station. You see its large sign the moment you exit the station. Which means you can walk there and not have to suffer through taking an insidious Morocco taxi.

Review 53:Nice, competent business hotel at a great location next to the train station and the tram line going downtown. Perfect place to stay and clean up after a week of trekking and stays in charming but unpredictable riads. Nice exercise room, big breakfast spread.

Review 54:Asked for non-smoking but I think someone had been smoking in the room. Couldn't lock the door to the balcony. No safe in the room and nothing in the mini bar other than water.

Review 55:Proximity to Casa Voyageurs Train Station, so a good overnight stop. Good wifi.

Review 56:Hotel staff wasn't too friendly. The rooms were close to smoking area so once in a while the room had an odor of smoke.

Review 57:Extremely close to train station- you can see hotel from the train station. Close to a market and the light rail line. Private & clean room. This is a great location if you are in transit but no so great to explore Casa.

Review 58:100m from Casa Voyageurs train station, it's in an easy location for someone arriving from the airport. From there you can also take the tram downtown and to the beach (there aren't public buses in Casa). The room is standard, but the bed is excellent. We came during Ramadan, and they had options for lunch and breakfast, which are difficult to found outside the hotels during this time of the year.

Review 59:Nothing!

Review 60:I was sick and needed a nice room in which I could relax and recover. This hotel was perfect for what I was after. Comfy bed, immaculately clean room, nice, helpful staff, awesome breakfast, and super close to the tram and train stations!

Review 61:No hair dryer (I asked for it in the lobby though they said they don't have one :(((( Breakfast is quite poor. No fruits. No restaurants in the neighbourhood just lots of coffee and tea salons.

Review 62:very good location close to Casa Voyageur

Review 63:The only cons are about the coffee machine used at breakfast. There should be a caffetteria, not a machine that makes bad coffee. The WiFi disconnecting every time you leave the hotel....kind of inconvenient.

Review 64:Perfect location next to Casa Voyageurs and the tram, very clean, very friendly staff. I am totally going to stay there again.

Review 65:This was a comfortable, clean hotel with very obliging staff. The breakfast was better than average and the proximity to Casa Voyageurs - Railway Station, excellent as it was less than 100 meters. If travelling an excellent place to stay. They provided out of hours light dinner for late arrival.

Review 66:Terrible plumbing issues in the bathtub and sink, the water takes a long time to recede. Whenever you leave the hotel, you must sign back in to the wifi, a slight inconvenience. Tried once to make use of the hotel's restaurant in the afternoon, as there were no nearby places to eat and we were tired, but we were told by the worker it was closed, though there were a few people sitting and chatting inside. Other than that, no major issues that I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Review 67:Right across the street from the train station that gets you to and from the airport. Also right across the street from the tram, five stops away from eating and shopping center. Staff with great attitude. Great wifi. Decent breakfast options. ATM right next door. Overall, great experience.

Review 68:Wi Fi service is very very poor,n it is irritating,it should b better.

Review 69:Hotel is neat n clean, reception service is good,Specially MR SAIFAONE on reception is a nice n service minded.we would like to stay again if we visit casablanca.

Review 70:Need to walk for half an hour by the not so pleasant streets to reach the old town and any tourist attractions. Beware that trains can be delayed a lot (45+ min), so don't miss your flight when coming back to the airport. So for the 2 nights I would choose the hotel closer to the old town. If the transit is too short (say flight at 12), I would choose the hotel next to the airport.

Review 71:Close to the trains station where the trains from the airport come to.

Review 72:The quite rooms open to inner courtyards where ACs are runnig all night long. The rooms facing the place have much more light, but its noisy. There was a weird smell in the room and the carpets should be renewed.

Review 73:breakfast location is very close to the Trainstation Casa Voyageurs staff let me change rooms twice with no complaints.

Review 74:The location is difficult to beat - immediately next to the major train station of Casa, thus allowing someone arriving from the airport a easy to find no fuss hotel. Staff, room, breakfast all very good, and price excellent.

Review 75:Very clean, comfortable and excellent location. Just get out of the casa train station and the hotel is in front of you. The tram station is in front of the hotel and it takes you to main sights. Breakfast is simple but very delicious which gives you enough energy to explore the city.Very helpful and friendly staff and a safe luggage room.

Review 76:We arrived from Marrakech by train which stops at Casa Voyageur station, this hotel is just on the opposite side couple of minutes walk so no nees for taxi the next day we took the train from the same station to Mohammed 5 Airport - Casablanca international airport - so perfect location.

Review 77:Great for an overnight right across from Casa Voyageurs train station. Tram will take you downtown from there and train will take you directly to the airport.

Review 78:Good location right near the train station, with easy free parking until 0800. The hotel was easy to find (tall building with easy to read sign). The staff was fine, room was nice and wifi was free & fast. Nothing extraordinary, but no complaints.

Review 79:The staff was friendly, but the bed sheets smelled terrible, maybe they were overbleached and I could not sleep because of that for a while. Also the towels should be maintained in a better shape, thought they were washed, but looked dirty.

Review 80:No complaints at all. And I'm a fussy mancunian from Britain.

Review 81:The room was a good size and the breakfast was nice. I used the gym downstairs twice (included in the room rate) wifi is excellent. The tram station is facing where you can jump a tram for 7 mad ( 50p) up town to the shops. Restaurants. Beach etc.... will defo stay again

Review 82:Good location if you are arriving by train as its literally just next to train station. We stayed for a night on our way to airport next day. Functional and good size room. wifi is pretty stable and breakfast served is not bad. Great value.

Review 83:it's just a basic hotel. No Moroccan charm. The check in lady was so miserable and unhelpful. They also charge you in the local currency and even though you have the euro rate on bookings.com they convert it very generously to get the best rate for themselves. I wouldn't stay here again. It was our least favourite in morocco.

Review 84:Good shower and comfortable bed. In a good location too, opposite the train station and near the tram stop into city centre. Really easy to get around from this hotel

Review 85:Unhelpful female receptionist offering me a taxi that is 500 MAD more expensive than what you can get outside. Wifi kept cutting off Crepe (breakfast) was horrible

Review 86:Amazing location as it is right Infront of the Train Station Excellent Buffet Breakfast Helpful male receptionist at night offering me directions and tips and fixing my AC

Review 87:Many flying inserts. Guest need to call the receipion then the staff will come and turn on the air-con to you but they will bring out the control. if you don't call, no air-con. It is veryyy freak~!

Review 88:comfortable

Review 89:Cleanliness is average and the decor non-existent. The hotel is quite far from the areas of interest to tourists, although it is well connected through the tram system, which stops outside the hotel. Breakfast was sparse.

Review 90:Location right opposite Casa Voyageurs was convenient from the perspective of coming in from the airport and getting trains elsewhere. The hotel is generally clean and presentable, but with a minimum of frills. OK for a short business or transit stay.

Review 91:Nothing

Review 92:A big thing when it comes to travelling for me is hospitality. The front reception was so kind and caring, always making sure we were fine with any of our needs. The hotel is very clean and breakfast had loads to offer.

Review 93:Location is about perfect: A block from Casa Voyageurs (main rail station) and on the tram line, so it's easy to get to from the airport, easy to get around Casa, AND easy to make day trips elsewhere.

Review 94:Tiny rooms, dinner wasn't good and breakfast has no variety of options.

Review 95:It's close to the station and that was the only reason to stay. Their staff are nice and helpful.

Review 96:Buffet breakfast was not good quality, awful coffee.

Review 97:Good location next to train station. Comfortable and clean rooms-if not a little dated! Cleanest and softest towels I have had throughout Morocco. Staff very friendly.

Review 98:The breakfast never change....

Review 99:I really like of the localization, and SIHAM, she is one of the front desk clerk, she is very kind and professional... The hotel is very good...

Review 100:The room had a lingering stale smoke odor and I'm not sure if the towels were properly washed. I'm choosing to believe they were. Breakfast wasn't anything special.

Review 101:It was nice that it was close to the train station and a tram stop. One of the staff members was friendly and gave me some recommendations of places to go and also called a taxi for me

Review 102:there is no good restaurant in the walking distance. Hotel's restaurant is the best in the area.

Review 103:Very clean Hotel with helpful staff. Good breakfast. Comfortable rooms with nice baths. location is nice. There is a nice park and tram station in front of the hotel. it's 4 stations far from the center.

Review 104:you pay more than the price announced on booking! air-conditioning doesn't work very well noisy (near a road)

Review 105:Near "casa voyageurs" station and tramway breakfast was good clean nice hotel staff

Review 106:The room uppon arrival was not clean very sharply The breakfast was really awful tasteless The tv channel are not so good And the wifi was really not that good be ause u have to log in every 15 min

Review 107:I really liked the staff was very helpful and nice and very professional The room was quiet amd bed comfortable The room itself is quiet

Review 108:Siham, on reception was a delight. Could not do enough for us. Remainder of staff were helpful and courteous. Hotel was comfortable, clean, modern. Breakfast was best we had in Morocco. Once the Hammam is up and running it will be truly fantastic.

Review 109:We arrived late in the evening so we did not spend much time in the hotel. It was very clean, very quiet, very safe.Bathrooms were quite nice. Breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful. It had warm and cold items.

Review 110:Walls very thin, loud people in hall and next door. Second day very little choice at breakfast as tour group had"cleaned up"

Review 111:Location close to train and tram station. Very clean and well appointed .

Review 112:Room is small, i can say that it was a sad room. The bed is comfortable but very small: I am 1,87m tall and I didn't fit

Review 113:Staff. I think this hotel has a great staff

Review 114:The spa and hamam weren't working. The gym is much smaller than it appears in pictures. There is 1 treadmill, 2 exercise bikes, 2 weight machines (for back), some free weights, yoga mats, and steps only.

Review 115:The location was great for making trips to other areas of Morocco. This is a great location to travel to places like Rabat and even Meknes. The internet connection was fast and reliable. The showers were clean and had hot water. Breakfast was good for the price of the hotel with a fair selection. The heaters in the room worked well. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Review 116:Staff was not very knowledgeable or helpful. The directions we got to certain places were incorrect which made it difficult. Breakfast was the same each day. Very dull atmosphere in hotel. Perhaps too expensive for offerings available

Review 117:Rooms were comfortable. Bathrooms were clean. Tramway station just across the road and railway station across the road

Review 118:They didn't have hair dryers and it was winter... Breakfast didnt have fresh OJ and bread didnt feel as fresh as the riads all over morrocco.

Review 119:I loved its proximity to the train station. Great value and nice staff.

Review 120:The breakfast buffet is not really attractive and its quality is rather low. The receptionist was not very helpful and seemed very annoyed by our requests. The room oriented to the main street was quite noisy even during the night.

Review 121:The hotel is really a couple of steps from the train station which makes it very convenient. The room was clean and comfortable and the Wifi was working fine.

Review 122:No ambiance whatsoever, unfunctioning hammam, our room smelled stuffy and after we were out for the day and return to room, it smelled like a toilet. P..p. Ignored when we first entered for check in. Booooring neighborhood.

Review 123:Close to train station.

Review 124:A bit pricy for the quality offered

Review 125:The location great, very close to Casa Voyageurs and Medina is about 10-15 mins walk. Ther reception was very helpful as well.

Review 126:The breakfast was below average. The fitness centre isn't free, you have to pay 80 MAD by the hour. Apparently they class this as an added extra rather than a facility. No mention of having to pay for this was seen at the time of booking.

Review 127:The location was great, really close to the train station and tram stops. The room and hotel generally was clean and tidy.

Review 128:The brakfast was same every day I stated 10 days I eat same menu the bath tub was blocked we askthem to fix it but ti remane same antel we left

Review 129:very near to railway station and tram station

Review 130:- They charged something like 15 euro more than stated in booking.com reservation, and they calculate in dirhams. - The breakfast is pretty basic, but decent.

Review 131:Well, taking in account this is a 3 stars hotel, it's pretty clean and well equipped, nice clean rooms, not too big, we got one with street view at high floor. Location is great- Near the train station, we stayed here before our flight out of Morocco.

Review 132:Food was mediocre.

Review 133:Basic hotel, value for money. Across the square from Casa Voyageurs train station. We chose Al Walid because we planned to spend one night in Casa before taking the train to Marrakech - worked out well for us. Easy access from airport by train. Nice room, comfortable bed.
