Review 1：My only complaint would be that this year, for the first time ever, my room was not cleaned during my first week until mid to late afternoon - when I like to relax in it.

Review 3：Hotel location was fantastic and right on beach and fantastic pool which was always quiet due to many people going straight to beach. Breakfast which was a buffet style 'eat as much as you like' was very good. Great to have a fridge to keep drinks cool and air conditioning in the rooms

Review 4：Don't expect an early check-in Wenden if you arrive before 9 am. Breakfast buffet is fine but really disorganised service and not that friendly no coffee or tea service at table and not really super quick turnover the servers don't look happy about their job at all. The whole hotel needs a make over.

Review 5：We loved our room, superior double with sea view. The stagnate rooms are ok but it's definitely with taking the superior for extra comfort, however the room's lovely standard and decor does not match the rest of the hotel which is extremely dated. There was one particularly helpful receptionist in the morning so was the most efficient in the whole hotel! The location for beach access is superb. The pool is nice with plenty of room and good for small children too.

Review 9：Not just beachfront - actually on the sand, with a large beach side pool. Breakfast is a large, full buffet with tasty meats, dairy and fruit. Large trays of baked beans and fried bacon available for English guests. Hotel staff is awesome.

Review 10：Bedroom was reminiscent of hotels in the 1970s, it was not what I booked and should not have been given to any guest, The .price was double to another Inn close by. No indoor heated pool, no sauna or steam room, all very substandard.

Review 22：Everything was going well up until breakfast time when one of the waiters came over to me and said that a complaint had been made about me having sandwiches in my purse. "Not true" I said and immediately emptied my bag on the table. He apologized, but I was humiliated beyond belief. Still don't know why this happened, but it ruined my stay.

Review 23：The eternal problem in Algarve at the high season, i.e. insufficient car parking places. If you take your car to visit the whereabouts, the chances to return to the hotel and find available places in their private parking are thin. I already knew this region from past visits, but it's definitely a limitation for newcomers. I left the car parked at the same place, which I managed to find on the day of arrival, for the all duration of my stay for fear of latter troubles; like so many guests I must add.

Review 24：Friendly and professional staff. Spacious and comfortable rooms. The bed linen and pillows are extremely comfy. You literally sleep like an angel. The hotel is somewhat old but well maintained. Moreover, it adds to its charm setting it apart from the mainstream hotels at the area. I've been lodged in two other main hotels in Monte Gordo in the past, so I have experience to compare. The breakfast is also great, varied and with quality. The hotel placement is also an asset, since you are literally on the beach with a direct access to it from the hotel. The hotel also has two swimming pools - one for children - which are great and well sized. The free hotel's private parking is also guarded, although insufficient at the peak season for all the guests. Nonetheless, I would like to mention a word of appreciation to the parking guards which demonstrated a high standard of professionalism in trying to find solutions for the guests, despite the limitations of a cramped car parking.

Review 31：1) I payed 180 Euros per night for a two night stay, and understood by speaking with other guests that most of them had payed half of this value (which is the fair value for the condition the hotel is in). I told this to the front desk and I was told that other agencies had better conditions that Booking. This had never happened to me before, as I always got better conditions through Booking than phoning directly to the hotel. 2) The hotel is very poorly maintained and value for money for a night should be on the 80-90 Euro range. I told this to the hotel management while checking out.

Review 73：This is an old school holiday hotel...which is great! The location is just excellent - the beach is right in front of the hotel and behind the hotel is the town of Monte Gordo with all its restaurants, cafes and small shops. At the hotel, there is a wide selection for breakfast, a sparkling pool, live entertainment and so many other things we did not get time for. On the beach, you can get a couple of chairs for sunbathing and an umbrella for €10 for the day. We will be returning - hopefully very soon!

Review 74：Front desk staff seemed tired and was not really friendly. When we left, they didn't even say the most common phrases: hope you liked, hope to see you here again, have a nice trip. Nothing.

The Pool area is also nice, with some cover from the wind (it can be windy from time to time). Close to restaurants, walking trails, car and bike rentals and super markets. Nice view over the beach from balconies in some rooms.

Review 80：Booked a superior double room which according to the specs should be big with a sofa. Got a standard double without sofa. Reception staff was receptive so they offered a larger room.

Very good size pool, temperature adequate ( ie not heated) but much more effort should be put into cleaning it. shame really as lot of effort went into keep area around pool spotless.

We have to place a towel on the floor by the door to get the room darker. The walls are quite thin, you can hear just about anything the people next door are talking about.

Review 93：Unfortunately we got stuck in the lift when it mal functioned. The lift should have been out of commission when the cables were being maintained. We were disappointed that we did not even get an apology from the management or reimbursed in any way. The whole ordeal for my wife was very upsetting.

They tell you your room will have a mini bar, but it is empty; YOU HAVE TO STOCK IT YOURSELF3. there is no internet in the rooms at all, you have to go to the lobby4. internet in the lobby area is free IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN COMPUTER...other than that...you can use their computer FOR A FEE5. television has extremely limited channels and mainly Dutch and Spanish channels....no Portuguese...and after all...you are visiting Portugal. Who goes to Japan to watch American programs?6. My television was not working. this is something that should have been checked BEFORE releasing the room to a guest...should always check to make sure everything is working7. The floors do not look that clean; I would not walk barefoot, even if I wanted to8. there are cracks on the bathroom walls9. the hair drying in the bathroom is literally a hose10. some reception staff are not that knowledgeable11. when asked for a map, they gave me a map that was drawn out by hand; THEY HAVE NO MAPS12. their credit card machines are so old that it will not read everyone's cards so you have to go to a bank or ATM to withdraw13. furniture in the room is old and the pretty little white fabric chair and pillow in the room was dirty. why have something white if you're not going to clean it?14. the folder with information about the hotel and numbers to dial was damp and disgusting. No care in changing it for clean copies shows lack of care15. there are no menus in the room, only information is how to dial the telephone16. there are no outlets in the room, you have to decide either to unplug the light or unplug the television17. the bathrobe they give you is very thin and hardly worth wearing18.

Review 105：HAVING STAYED AT THE HOTEL VASCO DA GAMA 11 YEARS AGO WE WERE DELIGHTED TO FIND THE HOTEL AS CHARMING AND FRIENDLY AS WE REMEMBERED. WE had a delightful sea view room. The staff were always polite and even offered to dry our golf clothes after we were soaked on a local course. The location to the beautiful golden sands and sea was ideal as was the 25m pool, pool area and pool cafe/bar. The breakfast selection second to none. The hotel is in easy walking distance to the town and shops. A definite must for a relaxing break. We shall be back!

Review 109：The location of the hotel was a few minutes walk from the centre of Monte Gordo. It was also beside a lovely sandy beach. Iit was relatively easy to find.

Review 110：Maintenance staff is the worst I got in a very large experience in hotels all over the world. Is one old hotel, but some situations, we cannot accept. Air Conditioning was not working with 39º outside and was the first time someone tried to justify that, telling me that I don’t know how to use it. Maintenance people are not polite and tried to change remote control program in front of me to justify the problem. After I explain them that customers are not ignorant, they changed almost everything (Inside & outside the room) and started to work. Without this episode, would be one great hotel. I believe they can change these kind of employees and get the grade they deserve. Other employees are not the same, and are doing a great job.

Review 111：Excellent beach location, great for families with young children, not crowded because is one small hotel, good breakfast for one 3 star hotel, free private parking (imperial during August), very well located in the best region of Algarve, fair snack prices in the pool for fast lunch and very nice staff (except maintenance). One of the best hotels, if you are looking for holidays in the beach with fair price.

Review 112：For several days, Cleaning staff was very loud in the hallways early morning, waking up guests with loud conversations or laughing. Unfortunately staff language skills in English are very poor, with the exception of the reception staff. Internet,which is advertised as part of the package is often not available or it is a very bad connection.Room had a strong sewer smell coming up from the toilet, although they fixed this after a day. No clean sheets for a week is a bit long...This is a mass hotel, focussed on processing many customers at the same time, which is good for the budget travellers, and less for the customer requiring service and quality. Due to poor overall service this is not a hotel for the medium price range customer who expects customer orientation beyond the basics. Also not a hotel if you do not appreciate lots of kids around.

Review 113：Friendly front desk staff which is customer oriented. Location is on the boulevard and beach, which is nice. If you can live with mediocre service (ref below), its an ideal place for families on a budget due to the nice pool area, beach and boulevard location.
