Reviews for Hotel Moroccan House
Review 1:Wifi unavailable in bedroom as signal not strong enough so had to sit in lobby area. Hotel dark and cold. Maids spent a ridiculous amount of time cleaning rooms very loudly shouting to each other between floors in atrium area and despite there being a sign about saving water by re-using towels, the maid replaced them every day and threw away half used soaps and loo rolls. Very wasteful. The location isn't near anything of interest and the area itself isn't a nice part of town. Breakfast buffet was effectively just bread and cake and cold coffee if you're not first down.
Review 2:Reception staff courteous and friendly. Arranged transport to airport. Hotel and room decoration was nice. TV in room was good.
Review 3:Although the hotel provided free wifi, we were unable to access internet from our room. The lobby was comfortable enough however, when we needed to search and surf.
Review 4:Upon our arrival, we were greeted with Moroccan tea and sweet cakes, before being shown to our room, where we were dazzled and delighted with the colours, textures and magical detailing. Our breakfast buffet included olives and cheeses, fig jam and breads, made to order omelettes and traditional flaky pancakes. Wonderful!
Review 5:-When we arrived, at reception they could not find our reservation, but we did yet a room in the end, slightly different than we reserved, but it was fine. -The man at reception was trying to convince me that the breakfast is not included in reservation, although I was sure I did ask for the breakfast when reserved, I could not prove it and paid the amount they were asking. Next morning at the breakfast the man in the breakfast room says: "but you haven't paid for the breakfast!". I said that we did and he has to sort it out in reception. Never the less he kept on coming to us during the breakfast and try to get his money. It was really terrible and spoiled all fun of having a breakfast. When I returned home I checked my booking and found a confirmation that the breakfast was already included in price. So we paid for the breakfast twice- I did write an e-mail to the hotel about this situation, but never got a reply. Pity!
Review 6:Location was good.
Review 7:When I booked this hotel I was a little worried about the reviews but for me eventually was a very pleasant stay. yes it's an old hotel but it's clean. and my bathroom was clean too, old but clean. The staff were friendly and the breakfast great!
Review 8:The room didn't seem clean, our towels were very old, so we didn't feel quite comfortable. The location was central but the streets around not that nice (that's not exactly their fault tough)
Review 9:Nice staff
Review 10:Rooms over due for a remodel. Two of the reception staff were fine, but the other was not interested in serving a woman. Was not interested in answering any of my questions.
Review 11:Breakfast was good.
Review 12:Aggressive and rude staff, maybe because we were woman? On arrival at 3pm had to stand outside room for an hour while cleaner took personal phone call. Cold shower, dirty towels and sheets. Leaking shower. Wifi only works in main areas hotel. Noisey. Most of this made by staff
Review 13:Good breakfast
Review 14:Shower fixture broken, generally a bit grimy and tired. Chandelier in reception filthy really bad first impression. Only one option available on the dinner menu.
Review 15:Very individual, a tacky but quirky. If it was a bit cleaner and things were not broken it would work much better for its place in the market. Very tasty omelettes.
Review 16:Location is far from La Cornice and other side of town, however taxi's are easy to find and cheap.
Review 17:Helpful and kind staff. Highly decorated rooms, walls, floors - nice Moroccan feel. Good breakfast.
Review 18:Had a room by the street. Road were very busy and constant honking from the cars was still hearable dispite 2 doors. But i could still sleep from it
Review 19:AMazingly stylish hotel, attention to the details. Felt like in the Arabian nights :) Staff were very nice and helpful, food was delicious
Review 20:Pillow cases did not appear changed with hairs left behind. Complimentary hairbrush in bathroom had hairs on it. Mould on walls. Receptionist didn't organise for tv remote to be brought to the bedroom. Orange juice at breakfast was undrinkable, some nasty factory alternative. Air conditioner in bedroom too loud to leave on. Etc etc etc etc
Review 21:-bathroom was in need of a thorough clean with mouldy walls and stained surfaces. And a tiny shower with a curtain that wanted to cling to you - label stating “this toilet has been disinfected” there because it definitely wasn’t obvious by the state of the bathroom SHUDDER - thread bare towels so old they'd turned grey - strange smell in the room - small lumpy beds with claustrophobic hanging curtains - unhelpful staff happy to rip you off - mat on floor world’s best breeding ground for tiny creatures - suspiciously lukewarm tea served under the unpleasant watching eyes of the receptionist - beds too far apart to be able to be comforted by one’s travel companion during a sleepless night
Review 22:less than 10 min walk to Casa Port train station
Review 23:- rip-off euro/dirham exchange rate (booking was in euro's, pay in dirhams) - smeary room floor - bathroom has seen better days - no remote control for airco, can only be switched on or off - breakfast personnel working hard but understaffed (ao only spoons available)
Review 24:- walking distance from Casa Port railway station - huge breakfast buffet - friendly staff (especially the porter) - funny over the top decoration
Review 25:internet was not functioning during my whole stay, and they only have on remote controll on the whole hotel for the aircondition in the rooms redicolous.
Review 26:no internet
Review 27:Bite spensive, cause i was looking for hostels and dont find. So... pay more for a comfort that i was not need.
Review 28:Really comfortable! Pretty and in the center, really close from the trainstation. Good people works in the Hotel. Excelent breakfast; excelents rooms <3
Review 29:Poor staff attitude; impression that the front desk was not entirely honest; breakfast was dreadful; and staff responsible for breakfast simply disinterested; room was depressing.
Review 30:Close to the center of the town
Review 31:We were there for the start of Ranadam which caused a few problems. Try to avoid this time if possible.
Review 32:The staff were very friendly and the breakfast quite good. The room was spacious and clean.
Review 33:The receptionist did not return our passport and we left to Marrakech. The hotel never made any attempts to let us know that the passport was with them. I nearly missed my flight over this. I had to take a taxi from marrakessh to Casablanca and back. Waste. The reception did absolutely nothing.
Review 34:The hotel looks amazing.
Review 35:Great service, friendly and very accommodating staff! Loved the room I stayed at, very local atmosphere! Will definitely stay here again. This hotel served the best breakfast in Morroco!
Review 36:You have to move from room to room till you can find a good wifi signal....check the air condition ....and please bring your towels with you....this hotel has to invest some money in buying new towels....
Review 37:I appreciate Eman the lady at the reception, who tried her best to make things work...thank you Eman..
Review 38:Once has been a beautifully designed hotel, but now worn off a lot. We arrived around 8 pm, but the hotel restaurant did not work, and the receptionist sent out in a rain to look for some other friendly restaurant which turned out to be in a different direction from what he indicated. No big deal but the city looked so sad and gloomy that it turned out the worst night during our whole trip.
Review 39:Once has been a beautifully designed hotel, but now worn off a lot.
Review 40:- The bathroom could use an update. The shower head kept falling down. - Our breakfast was not included, but when we had breakfast in the hotel during our last day and it was very very expensive (almost 100 dh per person) and certainly not worth the amount they charged. It's a disgrace and a downer on our stay there. Go have breakfast in town. It's much cheaper and better.
Review 41:Nice hotel with friendly staff. The decor is a but over the top, but that makes it fun.
Review 42:We waited for over 2 hours to get the apartment rooms we had booked with Booking.com The receptionist was totally indifferent and tried to give us cheaper hall rooms. Worst hotel and worst breakfast of my 3 month tour of Morocco.
Review 43:The decor of the main lobby and dining room is traditional Moroccan. The porter was a kind man.
Review 44:- slightly aged (bathroom) - beds on the hard side.
Review 45:+ Location (walking distance to train station Casa Port, 45min direct train to airport) + Breakfast (buffet with huge choice) + quirky Moroccan style + friendly personal
Review 46:I was impressed by all of the staff within the hotel. They was very friendly and also extremely helpful. The room it was very comfortable. I will certainly be staing here again.
Review 47:Sheets grey, pulled and threadbare..... Bed hard and small and uncomfortable shoved ina corner, one PowerPoint in room only , bathroom old and dirty looking
Review 48:Entrance was colourful and authentic Moroccan stule
Review 49:Original booking was for a room with a single bed. We were given a room with 2 beds and told if we wanted one we would have to pay extra even though our booking was done and prepaid for a one bed room. Not happy but they eventually gave us a room with one bed.
Review 50:Decore of hotel is perfect for Morocco. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated in traditional Moroccan theme.
Review 51:Internal noise from other rooms, WiFi doesn't work except in lobby, breakfast is moderate, lack of handles on doors (very strange and quite inconvenient!)
Review 52:Location is good, though a bit noisy.
Review 53:We had only one problem --- The bed was decorated in a lovely Moroccan style. It looked impressive. However, ... it was somewhat difficult to get in and out of... There was a flat surface adjacent to the bed that you crawl over and get into the bed. Just that small complaint.
Review 54:The staff was very helpful to us.... helping us find other places to dine, mailing our postcards home for us, and arranging our transport to the airport early in the morning. Our room was large and comfortable --- also very clean. Both doormen and the maids were quite friendly and helpful.
Review 55:The wifi didn't work in the room but wifi and broadband is generally quite weak in Morocco
Review 56:Quiet, comfortable, quite relaxing. Helpful friendly staff and the creme caramel. The decor is very jolly and makes you smile. The free bathroom supplies were excellent.
Review 57:Be prepared that they will rip you off while converting € to MAD...In my case they took ca 10€ per nigh more than on the booking site.
Review 58:Local ambience in a nutshell
Review 59:I tried to pay with debit card over telephone. He refused. He was rude and not helpful. He said we do not have facility. This is lie because they get my card information. They can charge my card of I did not pay or cancel the booking The room was smelling paint. My guess could not sleep all night.
Review 60:Surroundings of this hotel (and others in the neighborhood) is not special, some areas undergo reconstruction, some are dirty.
Review 61:You wouldn't expect traditional style living in a building looking modern from outside. Loved the arabic look. Room was comfortable, breakfasts (with an omelet) good, staff helpful.
Review 62:When we arrived the room wasn't clean and had an ant problem. Fortunately the staff quickly cleaned it up while we were gone. Breakfast was decent, but would have been better if there was actually someone there to make omlettes at the omlette bar.
Review 63:The staff was very kind and helpful setting up transporation to the airport.
Review 64:Some of the people on our tour got rooms on the basement floor I thought it was a parking garage when I got off the elevator Only hotel of 20 on my 34 day trip that had "trouble" taking my credit card which depleted my cash
Review 65:hotel deco & our very Moroccan room The man who greeted us at the door & the omelet chef & lots of food English movies & good wi fi
Review 66:No remote in room to control airconditioner
Review 67:Stayed one night while on a day trip to Casa, Near Port Train Station, Good buffet breakfast, Friendly staff, Near Souk and Central Marche. My wife forgot her rings in the room, I rang from the train and Eman checked in the room and they were still there, I told her to keep them for me, Thank You Eman
Review 68:Check in process was HELL! They advertise one price online, and then try to rip you off by charging some ridiculous rate for currency exchange. That's how they make up for a competitive price online. After a 1 hour checkin, I arrive at the room wanting a hot shower after a long day and.... the shower door leaked all the water into the room and there was n one to clean it in the middle of the night. To my request to send someone in the morning, they said "you're checking out in an hour anyway.." - only, the whole corridor was flooded, and it was impossible to move. Oh, and they charge $10 for breakfast cereal... Some fancy American hotel price for a lower than hostel service.
Review 69:Rooms feel very authentic
Review 70:When your neighbours open the door to the room next to yours, it sounds like someone pushes out your own door. And you can hear people talking near your room. The bathroom is old and requires renovation, towels were not clean enough. A couple of times hot water stopped puring in the middle of the shower. It's not possible to regulate the air conditioning, you can only switch it on. When you open the window, the crazy traffic noise is very loud.
Review 71:The location is good, no shabby houses around and the railway station is in 7 min walk, if you want to go to the airport by train. It will take you around 15 min to get to the Old Medina and 30 min to the mosque. Room decoration is quite funny, exagerrated moroccan style.
Review 72:We had a reservation for one night. After waiting in the lobby for 10minutes, the brusque check-in woman sent us up to room 62, which turnedout to be under construction/being painted. Went back downstairs andwere sent up to 65, which turned out to be in the middle ofhousekeeping...but with no housekeeper present. Finally the receptionistsent us to room 42, which was, well, just fine. Very small, no wifi, butclean and not being painted. All the while, the employee acted like wewere really inconveniencing her. They will allow you pay in euros or dollars, but insisted on using a 9-day old exchange rate, so it was not a good deal.
Review 73:Our bellman/attendant was very nice, and provided us tea when we satdown in the lobby and took care of our bags. He was also apologeticafter it took 2 tries to get a livable room.
Review 74:The porter had the audacity to demand 10 dirhams from me the moment he retrieved my properties from the baggagerie! The wifi keeps dropping even my grandfather performs better! Also, there is a lot of noise both from within and without the hotel; car horns (really terrible!) and construction noises!
Review 75:The hotel is in walkable distance (although not hear the medina, main shopping area and the mosque) and is especially convenient if you're here for a night's stay and need to be in proximity with both the bus and train station.
Review 76:Water heater in the bathroom was leaking. Puddlle on the floor by morning. Bed uncomfortable. Questionable decor in the room.
Review 77:Public space has outstanding architectural features (tiles, painted beams etc). Great breakfast room. Breakfast buffet has a wide selection including custom made omelets.
Review 78:They should have stated the main photo lobby is the Marrakech Hotel Branch not Casablanca.
Review 79:The lady receptionist and my cleaning lady were very pleasant.
Review 80:Staff was extremely nice. We were even upgraded to a suite, since the Double Rooms are equipped with rather short beds and we are a tall couple. Breakfast was a good value deal, even the eggs were freshly made.
Review 81:Bedroom furniture not clean. Poor maintenance - dead light bulbs in the bedroom and moldy, peeling mastic around the bath. No heating for cold winter nights - shiver! Unhelpful reception staff, despite the smiles. Daily charge for use of in-room safe. Cost of drinking water too high.
Review 82:The hotel theme - traditional Moroccan styling - is a good idea. General layout is attractive. Breakfasts were enjoyable. The concierge tried his best.
Review 83:People at the reception were rude, I don´t know if it was because they didn't speak good English or what. My bedroom got a lot of noise from the next room... which happened to be a staff room...weird. The place looks old and the bathroom kind of dirty. No satellite TV... when I asked for it they just said "NO... no TV". I wouldn't stay here again... there are cheaper and better places in Casablanca
Review 84:Excellent location, just next to CTM bus station, restaurants and the city. Breakfast was really good, but of course...not included in the price. Reception looks nice and they give you a welcome tea and cookies.
Review 85:Our room was a bit dark , but we arrived at a stormy period so maybe this didn t help. Better to arrive early at breakfast , around 10 there s not much left on the buffet.
Review 86:Location is good , central. Staff is nice and helpfull The rooms are special with a very typical Moroccan decor
Review 87:A little "worn", dark and a bit too much with the decoration, but minor things
Review 88:Spa in the basement, wifi working ok, location close to Medina
Review 89:Staff were very friendly, which was really appreciated, as a single female traveller arriving at night. All staff spoke English to some extent and were keen to be as helpful as I needed them to be, including chatting to me over breakfast, giving me options about how to get to my next hotel by either taxi or walking, and directions when I elected to walk. Location is great - very central. We had a small misunderstanding about breakfast (it was included in my rate, but this wasn't evident on the paperwork that the staff at breakfast had) but it was resolved very quickly with apologies from the staff for the confusion. The room was simple and clean and had everything in it that you would need, including air-con.
Review 90:The staff. They need to be trained to be polite with better customer service. My husband asked for a glass as there was only one in the room, but it was an effort to get one for him. And then we found the glass was filthy. So we decided to eat our dinner elsewhere, and also drink our drinks out of the bottle rather than ask for more glasses.
Review 91:This hotel was located in a good area. Supermarket nearby and good restaurant opposite. Decoration of hotel and rooms were very Moroccan in style. Breakfast okay, tasty fried eggs.
Review 92:when you reach the floor and get out of lift, within seconds all electricity went out and it is so difficult to find the electrical plug...so this is a big problem that should be solved
Review 93:location and its originality
Review 94:One side of the double bed was up against the wall. If the person sleeping next to the wall has to get up during the night, he/she must wake up the other person. The breakfast cost (100 dh) seemed excessive. The street adjacent to the hotel was filthy and littered with broken glass. Charging 10 dh for the city map was unwarranted - especially since the numbers on the map had no explanation. Elevator was too small for the number of guests (one of the 2 elevators was not working).
Review 95:The decorations were quite charming. The bellhop was very helpful. The room was quiet. Staff was helpful in letting us leave our luggage before we checked in so we would have time to visit the Hassan II Mosque
Review 96:I was assured that they accepted credit cards but when I checked out I was told their credit card machine did not work so I had to pay cash which was a problem since all banks were closed for the Eid holiday and I had a very limited amount of local currency.
Review 97:Staff was very helpful and the location was good for me because I was familiar with the area near the Port. Parking was available on the street right out front for my car.
Review 98:It seems that WIFI was only available in the hall, but not in rooms. The bed clothes are not so clean that we only lied on the bedspread. My friend even saw cockroach in his room.
Review 99:The hotel is located nearby casa port train station, and there is a supermarket very closed. The staff are quite kind and helpful. They helped us book taxi to the airport.
Review 100:The massage was not good in my perspective (room didn't smell good, massage itself was poor, stretcher didn't have a whole for the head) and the masseuse arrived 30 min late; bed was not comfy for me; had to pay 10 DHS for a city map
Review 101:Fantastic breakfast compared with all other accommodations I visited in Morocco; lovely decorations in the public areas as well as the rooms
Review 102:The concierge would not give me a verbal quote for us to stay there at the end of the trip - he said I must email him?
Review 103:Appreciated that the decor was very much in line with Moroccan style. Drapings on beds were lovely and having a small fridge in the bedroom was a bonus.
Review 104:The hotel was overbooked when we arrived, so we have been re booked to another hotel for 2 nights, this was really unpleasant. Even more unpleasant was the owner yelling at us because we dared to complain about that! Some people of our group have even been re booked for the entire stay. Noise in the street when there is some party (up to 6 AM!).
Review 105:Rooms are decorated very typically, and it is quite pleasant. The breakfast is good
Review 106:Having to pay for use of the safe in the hotel room. Not having been told beforehand that storing of luggage attracts a charge. Cleaners taking away towels etc even if they were not laying on the floor.
Review 107:Spacious clean rooms Close to the city centre and train station. Courteous staff.
Review 108:In there website they say they have disabile facility but they don't have any thing for disabile pepole the bed and carpet really old and smelly the reception try to charge us more than what we have to pay I total it's not recommended to any one I will not come back there
Review 109:Nothing
Review 110:Bathroom was very dirty with mold on the grout and ceiling/walls. Payment system was down when we attempted to check out, forcing us to pay with cash and paying the exchange rates. The payment process was all very informal we had to pay using three different currencies all with no receipts leaving us with an odd feeling that we had overpaid. The staff there did not seem to understand neither french nor english. As all the questions I asked where answered by 'yes'. Then it was explained that, that actually meant no. Overall the experience was very poor, i would not recommend this place to anyone nor would i stay there again.
Review 111:Everything was good location, value food, staff can't really fault anything.
Review 112:The only complaint is the lack of wifi in the room.
Review 113:Good location. Really nice staff.
Review 114:Had to change room twice. First no Wifi, then Wifi but leaky shower then no Wifi
Review 115:The staff. Pretty but no so comfortable beds
Review 116:The place looks by far not as fancy as on the photos. It's a grey, dirty block from outside and a dark, small hole from the inside.
Review 117:Hamman and breakfast.
Review 118:Great atmosphere, excellent stylish rooms, good food, great, nice staff
Review 119:I don't like the Casablanca. You can not see the sea which it is seaside city.
Review 120:Near medina.
Review 121:Staff were friendly food was decent
Review 122:Wifi connections and the noise from outside
Review 123:No wifi in rooms and the breakfast is very basic!
Review 124:breakfast is delicious
Review 125:Mosquitoes in my room, hair clogging the drain and the staff are pushy for tours/ guides to get commission.
Review 126:Good variety in breakfast
Review 127:Everybody wants to rib your money off..bathroom is not equipped..
Review 128:Location
Review 129:Exchange rate is cheating
Review 130:Staff was nice and helpfull
Review 131:It was in a good location, staff were very friendly and helpful, good value for money, excellent....
Review 132:Excellent breakfast
