Reviews for Hotell Villa Borgen
Review 1:We arrived after reception's opening hours, but everything was well prepared so that we could check in without problems. Very nice atmosphere, nice house, good breakfast.
Review 2:Ventilation in the room was not perfect but this was the only thing I can recall on the "minus"-side
Review 3:Location - within the Wall ring but still 5 min walking distance away from the crowd of the central squares. Afternoon "fika", which is a small meal, was included in the room rate. I had no idea it was! great possibility to relax and have some snack (like cheese, bread, pastry to coffee/tea).
Review 4:The Junior Suite has at least two flights of stairs, might not be suitable for people with knee/leg problems
Review 5:Awesome location. Amazing staff. Breakfast in the morning and afternoon tea are superb.
Review 6:Familyroom nr17 situated in a cellar without windows which was not mentioned when reserved. Showerroom and sauna were old and had some humidity problems.
Review 7:Very helpful staff. Nice breakfast room and very good breakfast+Afternoon tea.
Review 8:Lovely hotel villa rooms, well furnished, clean and plenty of facilities. Villa Borgen isa a a great asset to Visby. I have stayed twice there. Great relaxing place to stay in an excellent location.
Review 9:Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) stayed in the jr suite in the attic. It was very spacious and peaceful (although steep stairs to get up). The room was clean, afternoon tea and breakfast were included. Loved the make your own waffle at breakfast! Staff was friendly and helpful. The location was great, we walked around Old Town Visby and enjoyed our stay very much. I would recommend staying at Villa Borgen when in Visby.
Review 10:We were initially given a room with a very small toilet that doubled as a shower room, the shower cubicle being created with a folding door device. This meant the floor would be wet and there was a musty drain smell. We complained and we were moved to one of the newer garden rooms the next day.
Review 11:Helpfull, friendly staff. Small court yard garden. Free tea in the afternoon, very enjoyable after a busy day. Good location with easy walking distance to city attractions and car parks.
Review 12:Our bedroom on the courtyard was nice, but lacked privacy: in the morning there were guests eating breakfast outside our window.
Review 13:Great location on the main pedestrianized street in the old town, but with allocated car parking. Bike rental. Friendly youthful staff. Good breakfast.
Review 14:The shower could really use a small rail to keep the water from going everywhere. Makes a complete mess. Otherwise lived the place.
Review 15:I loved the breakfast and tea time. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The courtyard was charming.
Review 16:For us there was nothing to dislike.
Review 17:We booked for three nights in late May 2015, definitely the off-season but nevertheless a relaxing time to visit Visby. The Villa Borgen is well designed, tastefully modern, well managed, perfectly located, clean, and staffed by courteous, helpful, outgoing employees. Any problems other guests may have encountered there were long ago fixed. High points: the generous tasty breakfasts and afternoon teas, the restful courtyard with its -- count 'em -- two Buddha statues and sunny tables and chairs, the subdued Scandinavian design of our bedroom with its comfortable queen-sized bed. Low point: finding the hotel (the Visby information center was totally inadequate and the hotel neither responded to my pre-arrival request for help nor included its address or a map in its confirmation). Note: we were assigned one of a half dozen "motel" units in the courtyard; it provided good value, but the room photos you will see online were taken in the larger rooms and suites in the main building.
Review 18:The staff was very helpful with giving suggestions on places we should visit during our stay. The apartment was perfect and would definitely stay there again.
Review 19:Great location, very friendly staff, yummy waffles for breakfast, afternoon tea. We stayed in the appartment and everything was simply perfect. If we are ever back in Visby - Villa Borgen is our only choice.
Review 20:The noise for early risers walking by my room was a bit intrusive.
Review 21:The helpfulness and friendliness of Josefine and the other staff members made the stay comfortable and homely. The location of the hotel is perfect.
Review 22:Excellent and comfortable hotel very central. The staff were friendly, the room clean and neat, the breakfast local and yummi. We could not have had a better hotel experience in Visby!
Review 23:Not a thing.
Review 24:A lovely hotel with a fine attention to detail. I couldn't have wanted for more. Staff were attentive, and both the breakfast buffet and complimentary afternoon tea a work of art. I'd love to return one day.
Review 25:Nothing really, except perharps the soundproofing that could be a little better. But don't let that deter you as it will not disturb your tired/ contented tourist sleep!
Review 26:Tjis small hotel is ideally located in the center of the old part of Visby. Our room (number 11) was on the smallish side but still perfectly adequate. Nicely decorated too in a simply manner. Toiletries are very good and worth a much more expensive hotel. There is a charming inner garden that lead us to the breakfast/tea room. Breakfast is plentiful and good in the typical Scandinavian way. The afternoon tea we could sample only once since there were so many things to see in divine Gotland...but it was really nice. The staff is of the smiling, helpful sort. We stayed there 4 nights and I definitely heartily recommend the place. Oh and for cat lovers there is an adorable lady cat who is receiving hommage in the garden every morning. Purr! Chantal formally from Canada now living in Sweden. Tips for restaurants nearby: Wallers, Surfers and the Black Sheep Arms pub
Review 27:I stayed two nights in the junior suit room with my family. From the balcony we could see the ferry going back to Nynäshamn. Very surprised! The space of the junior suit room was very large for us. The beds and sofa were comfortable. The shower room was clean enough. We enjoyed afternoon tea at the breakfast room. All staff are helpful and friendly. I would like to stay here again some day.
Review 28:The only existing cupboard contains a fridge and only some hangers. A place for other clothes would be helpful.
Review 29:Very friendly and helpful staff, loved the breakfast and the afternoon tea with "kanelbullar". Very central, not even 5 min. to bus terminal. Restaurants and shops just on the doorstep. Maybe 10 minutes walk to the ferry.
Review 30:Mm, hard one there.
Review 31:Everything was just great.
Review 32:Fantastic service and friendly staff. The included breakfast was very fresh and had a wide spread.
Review 33:Fantastisk frukost!
Review 34:Nothing
Review 35:This hotel is ideally located for a Visby visit.

Review 42:great location big room
Review 43:food - breakfast and afternoon tea decour
Review 44:Located in the centre of Visby cosy decoration
Review 45:Single rooms were quite small. I didn't see the other double rooms.
Review 46:Excellent location and very friendly staff. The hotel is a very chic boutique type hotel with an excellent breakfast smorgasbord and afternoon tea. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 47:My floor was not as clean as it should have been and the shower could have been cleaner.
Review 48:Hotel Villa Borgen is in a great location and my room, opening onto a court yard was really nice and very comfortable. The toiletries supplied (shampoo, conditioner and body lotion) were good ones and the bathroom also had a cabinet for storage. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows and cushions. The staff were helpful and friendly and served a nice ( free) tea each afternoon. I would stay at Hotel Villa Borgen again.
Review 49:The wifi does not cover all the areas in the accomodation.
Review 50:"Afternoon tea time" between 14 and 20 is brilliant. Good coffee and tea with sweets for free of charge.
Review 51:This is really a boutique hotel. I love the intimacy. I had a lovely single room off a courtyard. It was easy to go in and out but staff were always discretely on hand to answer any queries.
Review 52:Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Very clean hotel. In Visby for a sporting event - the staff went out of their way to assist with travel details etc. Excellent week.
Review 53:The room was rather small.
Review 54:Lovely small hotel on the main shopping street of Visby. Complimentary afternoon tea/coffee with cakes was nice and could be enjoyed in the beautiful calm garden of the hotel.
Review 55:It would have been nice to have a staff member available after 8pm toanswer any questions or concerns.
Review 56:Excellent location for exploring Visby. Clean, comfortable rooms.Enclosed courtyard that required a room key for entry after 8pm added tosense of security.
Review 57:Bathroom was fine but small. This meant the shower was not enclosed so the water goes all over the floor which is not ideal.
Review 58:Bright comfortable bedroom, very nice breakfast. Helpful staff. A delightful hotel which we would be happy to return to.
Review 59:Very helpful, friendly staff. Great location for exploring Visby. Walking distance to anything I wanted to see. Nice ammeneties in the room, as well as lovely afternoon tea daily.
Review 60:Reception's opening hours are short during the winter season.
Review 61:Good price, good staff, although it is not expensive, breakfast is nice, the room was also good enough.
Review 62:The rooms aren't enormous...
Review 63:Friendly staff and other guests. The rooms were comfortable and well-appointed - they even have kettles, though you have to remember to grab a tea-bag and milk from the dining room. The breakfast was good and afternoon tea was provided free of charge. The location was good, within the walls of Visby. It wasn't cheap, but we really liked this place !
Review 64:Excellent location and a very good staff to answer questions and help with any problems. The breakfasts were very good and up until 1 October they had an afternoon tea. After 1 Oct the office closed at 1500. The free parking was convenient and a good value if you had a car.
Review 65:Very beautiful hotel and great facilities. Room was clean and very comftable. Lovely helpful staff. Hotel complements the lovely town of Viby...i cannot recommend this hotel high enough...had a memorable stay. I shall return there.
Review 66:I only came to work for three days, and the only service I needed was aworking internet connection for my pc, which Villa Borgen promised. Theconnection did not work, I reported this to the front desk on Sundayafternoon. They acknowledged there was a technical problem but could notdo anything about it. At Monday noon they had still not been able to fixthe problem and were not able to tell when or whether it could be fixed,so in order not to lose more working days I had to change to anotherhotel after having spent one night with them. They refused to refund methe two nights that I had paid in advance but did not use. This iswrong. The staff did not understand the point. Whether the sales priceof the room is originally defined as refundable or non-refundable doesnot matter if the service is not delivered. I have filed a complaintwith the company and am still expecting to get back my money.
Review 67:Location
Review 68:Our room smelt oil engine and mold: you could see in the angle of thewall. I asked for another room but it wasn'T. I wonder : I booked 4months ago and I paid 900,00 euro for getting this kind of room?Anyway I paid just one night also if the staff wanted we paid for 3night!?! No more
Review 69:The pillows were cheap and uncomfortable.
Review 70:We had a very nice and very large "family room" with a small balcony. Though the hotel is on a busy street our room faced away from that street - key for noise levels at night. The breakfast was great and the staff was helpful - there was also parking in the back.
Review 71:Great location in the heart of Visby with free wifi, a great breakfast, afternoon tea and free parking in the heart of Old Town Visby.
Review 72:Nice quiet small place. Simple but delicious breakfast. Room was small, but good value for money.
Review 73:Afternoon tea and coffee The quiet rear courtyard setting of the rooms
Review 74:The welcome of all the staff could not be faulted.
Review 75:Very nice cozy hotel with free afternoon tea and biscuits.
Review 76:Internet had problems. Bed covers were not big enough to cover two people
Review 77:Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Great location
Review 78:A few more tv-programs esp. English or german woul be nice
