Reviews for Parklane Motel

Review 1:Not well maintained enough, ants in kitchen and main bedroom; food crumbs on carpet; Credit card surcharge and payment was taken right after booking as opposed to many other places.

Review 2:Excellent location; self contained apartment with cooking facilities

Review 3:Nothing to dislike really. If anything it could be a bit noisey due to the thin Windows and it is on a steep hill. Albeit a small one.

Review 4:Good location and easy access to the town. Comfortable sleep and has a bath which is good for a relax after a day's travelling.

Review 5:You can hear people/TV in the next room through the walls, there was a couple fighting violently in the wee hrs. staff did not do anything about it, no apology to guests that had to listen to that for over 2hrs No air-conditioning. Outside spotlights x2 shine into the room They don't do breakfast here

Review 6:Fantastic location to everything can walk to where ever you want to go 3/4 min walk to centre of town and right across the road from City Park GREAT VIEW no traffic noise and I was at the front, top floor. Bed was very comfortable

Review 7:Rooms at the front do cop a bit of road noise with sliding door to balcony open for ventilation and there is no air conditioning. 2 floor rooms require that you negotiate a number of flights of stairs.

Review 8:Close to town centre, city park opposite,

Review 9:The steepness of the hill, which is not mentioned in the site. The beds we had were all uncomfortable No air conditioning Open hours for laundry

Review 10:The location to launceston Quiet Daily servicing

Review 11:need better air conditioning, cooling -either it was too hot with windows closed, or too loud with windows open-same 35 years ago.

Review 12:polite, helpful staff, well priced, tidy, clean,

Review 13:It was very hot and there was no aircon in the room not even a fan. Also because of the heat the toilet was smelly. It was the worst motel l have ever experienced, l will not be using your service again.

Review 14:The location

Review 15:The beds were awful! It was like sleeping on the floor they were that hard. Also the shower head is positioned quite low so my husband had to literally bend his knees to fit under it. One other thing is the noise! You can hear everything outside & from the other rooms.

Review 16:We loved the location & how quick & simple it was to checkin & checkout. The room was nice & clean too! The shower pressure was amazing, although the shower itself could be positioned a little higher.

Review 17:Old dingy carpet unsafe bathroom stinks cooking facilities were filthy carpets are dangerous aircon did not work beds were hard as wood. Won't be recommending and will never stay there again

Review 18:Absolutely nothing

Review 19:Outside looks a little tired, bed not the most comfortable, wifi 'only at reception' (we were lucky and could get it in the room). But not bad for the price.

Review 20:Good location, friendly helpful staff.

Review 21:Just for my own personal reasons the walk up to my room was too steep, I booked the hotel so I could be in the hospital early for my hip operation the next morning (7.00am) and I didn't know the hotel was situated on such a steep slope...other than that the room was great, nice and clean and modern.

Review 22:very clean bathroom in good condition.

Review 23:WiFi available only from the reception area. Motel is on the pretty steep hill, could be difficult to go up for tired people

Review 24:Good location, close to everything, free parking on site, nice self-contained apartments.

Review 25:Room a bit cramped, glasses in the fridge were dirty. When we pulled up the young men in the room above us were playing loud music and playing with a remote control car around the steps which we had to dodge when going into our room. The reception was open but they did nothing to stop this behaviour which they could clearly hear what was going on.

Review 26:Price was great for 4 adults.

Review 27:The TV reception was terrible, could not watch anything most of the time. Good place but not worth the price per night.

Review 28:Good location to where I had to go.

Review 29:Apartment was dirty & oven unusable, transferred to better one after complaining. Many guest very noisy, reception closed at 6 pm so no one to sort it out

Review 30:Convenient location

Review 31:The wificoncept is not well understood in Launceston - having to sit in a tiny reception area to use wifi is not very useful.

Review 32:Great location, with enough space in the room. The room was clean and fresh

Review 33:Very loud guests that stayed above us, yelling and running and jumping around. Was very loud, and all the noise from the street kept us awake most of the night.

Review 34:Location was good and easy to get around from

Review 35:Free wifi access was one of the reasons I booked so I could work in the unit of an evening but it wasn't actually available in the room. To use it you have to go to reception which is a separate building and only open at certain times. There's no in-built heating system, a plug in heater was supplied but it took a long time to warm up the room (this would only be a problem in the middle of winter).

Review 36:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Accommodation is in a central location within good proximity to the city and off street parking was available directly outside the unit. Microwave fridge and kettle was great and meant I didn't have to eat out every night.

Review 37:Excellent location, clean, comfortable, great value for money, friendly and helpful staff, a good range of accommodation types (motel rooms, studio, self-contained apartments)

Review 38:The property was every old and outdated. I had 4 issues with the property. I booked 2 rooms, one was for my family, and one was for my parents. I need to raise my experience there. There were 4 problems with the rooms we had. 1. On the day we arrived, I found the fridge in my room did not work and moldy. The receptionist move us to the new room straightaway. 2. In the evening, we found out that the main ceiling light did not work. We fixed it ourselves by replacing the globe with the one on the bedside table. We did not want to bother the receptionist again after the problem above. 3. My parents room had only 1 bath towel only. They had to share it for 3 days. 4. Early morning before checking out, my parents room did not have any hot water. They had to make hot water using a kettle for their morning routine. It was nearly 0 degree outside. My parents were not raising the concerns until we were checking out. As I paid for all the rooms, she did not want to bother me about them. However, she did not want the Motel charging me the missing towel. I told the receptionist about the problems 1,3 and 4 while we were checking out. I forgot to talk about the problem 2. She told me that at early morning, she had called a handyman to fix hot water for one of the room.

Review 39:The receptionist was friendly and responded to our concern number 1 promptly.

Review 40:Lack of hairdryer and kitchen was stocked with the absolute minimum. On two days there was no cleaning service. did not like the steep slope.

Review 41:Early check in and late check out were provided free of charge. Cleaning staff were very helpful about coming back later when asked.

Review 42:Would prefer our rooms further back from the very busy/noisy road. Will request this next time we stay!

Review 43:Very convenient and cost effective. City Park opposite is very pretty.

Review 44:Came back to motel one day to find a notice pinned to the door about lack of payment which any one could see . The error was not ours and speedily rectified by us without any acknowledgement of same

Review 45:No problems! Perhaps a rail in the bath to make it easier and safer to climb in and out?

Review 46:The hotel was well situated - we could easily walk to our daughter's place in Elphin Rd and to dinner etc in the city. Brilliant!

Review 47:Close to where we wanted to go. Staff let us leave our car there after checking out as we had a meeting to attend. Nice room overlooking park good sunny balcony.

Review 48:Parking area was cramped and on a very steep slope. But plenty of parking on street out side.

Review 49:The position is really good walk to shops, restaurants and beautiful park with lovely cafe directly scross the street.

Review 50:Parking a bit tight. No WiFi in rooms. Had to read "the fine print" to find that there is a credit card surcharge. Also no mention that your card is debited on booking. When I made a later change to the booking (within the free cancellation period) there was no automatic refund made - I had to follow it up.

Review 51:Excellent location. Good value. Our apartment was pretty quiet, but I imagine the rooms nearer the street would be noisy.

Review 52:WiFi was woeful. Parking was off a VERY steep lane way and impossible for elderly people to walk up or down.

Review 53:Very Central location. Quiet rooms. Easy to find and comfortable rooms. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Review 54:uncomfortable beds, tatty furnishings, tape around electrial cords., rust around edges of plug hole in handbasin, shower I could not adjust water tempreture long enought to have a shower

Review 55:nothing

Review 56:Front desk staff weren't took knowledgeable about main attractions in Launceston- weren't good getting directions off them

Review 57:Good location, good value for money. Get what you pay for.

Review 58:We were on top level, first night- possums running along tin roof from 8.15 p.m-9.45 p.m.then 2nd night rained into night then 4.15 a.m.-6.15 a.m. possums again. Answer to this at reception was "yes we know" they are there. Won't chose this motel again.

Review 59:The room was disgustingly hot without air conditioning on two very hot nights, this menat we had to leave the windows open and the traffic noise was very loud.

Review 60:The location is excellent and we were able to walk over to Symphony Under the Stars. The recepionist was very professional and extremely helpful, she arranged for a fan for our room. One of the cleaners was also very friendly and accommodating.

Review 61:Outdoor walkway leading to our room was my least favorite thing about our stay. Lots of spiders and debris.

Review 62:Very affordable price for reasonable accommodations. Definitely not luxury, but functional.

Review 63:Nothing to not like

Review 64:Friendly staff, so helpful. Comfortable clean spacious room with a bath in a great location short walk to town and across from the park. Free parking on site. Value for money.

Review 65:- no wifi in the bedrooms. Only on the threshold of the reception. - old building and old decoration of the bedrooms

Review 66:- bedroom and bathroom cleaned - receptionist nice - you can arrive late in the evening

Review 67:Great facilities, clean, close to the city, but not noisy. In room cooking facilities perfect for the family on a budget. Beautiful view of the City Park from our balcony. We booked a room for 3, and actually got 3 separate beds (ie.., no one had to share a double). Perfect for single parent family with adult kids.

Review 68:no air conditioning no bathroom exhaust fan & if you left the window open, anyone in the carpark would be able to see into the bathroom

Review 69:Location separate kids bedroom separate kitchen area Windows could be opened size of rooms clean

Review 70:Steep hill up to unit which wasn't really mentioned. Kitchen facilities are there but pots etc are the bare neccesities and need replacing and filled out with more utensils. Provided washing up items not really up to par (dish liquid heavily watered down, sponge/scrub sponge very old and dirty).

Review 71:Location was good to getting to city by foot.

Review 72:Our room (9) right infront of main road, opposite a park. Lucky, it was holiday time, traffic wasnt that bad but still heard noise from the street. The worse part was, the noises from next rooms and the rooms above. The double bed mattress is far too soft. We didnt know when booking on the net. We were going to stay 4 nights there but got away one night staying at Campbell Town. We had 2 nights in a row and the last night was awful no sleep, will never book this hotel again ever. The lady at the front told me there is never be a complaint from anyone about the rooms in the front, but there are some on the net which I found out later a bit too late. I will also send an email directly to the hotel. We dont mind to pay a bit more and have a decent place to stay.

Review 73:I don't like the noise from upstairs .at 11pm,they are still very noisy. Dragging a furniture or some sort, and bang the door, walking, and among other noise, that I can hear late at night.

Review 74:I like the cleanliness. And the facility. Maybe next time, I'll asked.for a room upstairs.

Review 75:We are unlucky to arrive on a day with roadwork which block the entrance to the car park. We are not confident of driving our rental car down the steep slope via the alternative narrow lane. We ended up parking our car elsewhere and need to worry about whether we will get a summon. Other than this, location of this motel is very good.

Review 76:I felt our room was a little tired and a little small. I also found a black hair in the bath - no one in our family has black hair.

Review 77:the location was great

Review 78:Very noisy outside. Traffic on road outside was loud. It was also unfortunate timing while staying there with roadwork and building construction happening during our stay. This caused surround noise of jack-hammering, banging and noisy machinery. They all started very early in morning and felt so close they could be in the room while we tried to sleep! PS. No wifi access unless prepared to sit outside reception office

Review 79:Clean and comfortable enough inside. Nice having a large park across road and easy walk to the town centre

Review 80:Self-laundry room is only open during the day. Most travellers go out during the day and can only do their laundry in the evening.

Review 81:Spacious Close to the city Comfortable Friendly staff

Review 82:room was quite warm so needed window open but on a busy noisy road. also front of hotel was spotlighted all night which meant the light kept us awake. access is by very steep street

Review 83:good value for family of 4, older style but clean and comfortable, friendly reception

Review 84:Noise. But as it was the weekend when I stayed, it was to be expected in the middle of the city.

Review 85:The place is clean and at walking distance to everything.

Review 86:There was nothing I didn't like

Review 87:I loved that I was close to everything in Launceston, and didn't really need the car. No one bothered me, the room was great. This was my 2nd time there and when in Launceston I will stay there again

Review 88:The floral bedspreads, the itchy bright orange blankets, the lack of air con, the dirty kitchen utensils, the fact the toilet ran all night, the dirty sock on the ground which wasn't ours, I found it funny they still use keys to get into rooms with a big plastic keychain that doesn't fit into the biggest of pockets!

Review 89:Trick question? The lady at the check in counter is pleasant! :)

Review 90:The only problem for me as an oldie was having to climb the flight of steps up to our unit, but the view from the window was worth the effort.

Review 91:The motel was easy to find on arrival, we were made very welcome at reception and there was plenty of parking. Clean and comfortable unit with a bath for tired travellers and I'd happily recommend this motel.

Review 92:Could not get wifi to work in my room but that ok had a break from computer during my stay.

Review 93:Found the room was clean tidy and served my needs well.I have stayed in this accomodation my times over the years and will stay there when next requiring accomodation in Launcestion.

Review 94:Very tight parking. Noisy as it's on busy road - which we didn't realise. Also dated - could do with an upgrade.

Review 95:A nice pub/restaurant just up the road - walking distance, lovely meals. Nice park across the road.

Review 96:No complaints.

Review 97:Price location and facilities everything you could ask for at a budget price. But delivers well above the price. Loved sitting on the balcony looking over the park. Walk to everything.

Review 98:No soundproofing in ceiling. People above not noisy but noise traveled through the ceiling from 5.00am Beds need an upgrade. Very uncomfortable

Review 99:Plenty of room in family suite clean, neat and for its age well presented

Review 100:It took a few hours for the oil-filled heater to warm the room.

Review 101:Close proximity to shops, restaurants and Aurora Stadium. Warm, comfy beds and plenty of hot water.

Review 102:busy road to be crossed

Review 103:Very close to everything in the city but with the park opposite you could have been in the country!

Review 104:Only negative was a damaged TV remote which had been taped together - do it properly or get a new one!

Review 105:Nice quiet place and close to town and park.

Review 106:good facitity and location

Review 107:Bathroom is very smelly

Review 108:Good location

Review 109:Clean rooms, size of unit and views

Review 110:Great location, comfortable beds, powerful shower, clean rooms.

Review 111:Found biscuit pieces on bed Noise from the water pipe and carpark during midnight

Review 112:close to town

Review 113:The location was very central and opposite beautiful park.

Review 114:Comfortable and close to cbd.

Review 115:Have to pay for clothes wash

Review 116:Full facilities . Convenient location

Review 117:None at all: )

Review 118:I like everything nice view. Very clean.

Review 119:common area was not clean

Review 120:Booking was easy. No problems with checking in. good value for money.

Review 121:Warm at best shower the second day not very nice with the cold weather.

Review 122:Staff were great at the front office, location is excellent.

Review 123:No bad experience, but only wished if we could use WiFi....

Review 124:Location is perfect. Staff was friendly.

Review 125:Traffic noise ( no double glazing) plus hard bed meant not much sleep.

Review 126:Location and view of park

Review 127:Fridge froze all things I put in it and very noisy and unable to adjust.

Review 128:the bath

Review 129:car parking is very tight

Review 130:good location, right near some great restaurants

Review 131:taps a bit stiff and hard to turn off.

Review 132:being woken up at 7am on a Sunday by roadworks right outside our window

Review 133:close to CBD

Review 134:helpful staff. great location. goodvalue for money
