Reviews for Hotel Le Recif, Ile de la Reunion
Review 1:The staff was very friendly and was always eager to help us. We do not speak french a lot so they tried as much as they could to communicate in english with us. They even booked the helicopter flight for us. Beach towels are provided, so we could have left ours at home and safe space. The hotel is quiet and clean. The location so close to the beach is excellent. After a day out you can sit at the pool bar, read, enjoy a cocktail or two and just relax. When we were too tired to go out so St Gille for dinner we could always book the dinner in the hotel, which is buffet style and offers local cuisine. The pool bar also offers a buffet style dinner, usually somewhat smaller than the main hotel. The breakfast is very good too, the chefs prepare your eggs for you on demand just like you want them, there is a large selection of bread, cereals, fresh fruit, freshly pressed juice, coffee, hot/cold chocolate. We enjoyed the stay very much and would go back any time.
Review 2:only one available plug in the room (not convenient to charge iphone, camera, etc), parking was full, and the hotel was very noisy. The room was very basic for the price and the air con was not very efficient. Breakfast was supposed to be severed at 6pm, however the staff of the hotel was 20 minutes late (not convenient since we were wanted to hike early). une prise uniquement dans la chambre, le parking était plein et l’hôtel était très bruyant.
Review 3:close to the beach, bar in the hotel with a nice waitress hotel proche de la plage, bar dans l'hotel avec une serveuse sympa
Review 4:Minibar was an empty fridge only, 2 rooms far from each other, no douche but a shower tap in the bad. The food from the buffet was bad and expensive, only cooked food in heated trays. Not restaurant worthy! All in all, too expensive for the comfort/food.
Review 5:Location; very close to the beach and close to 2 pools, nice gardens, nice staff, very clean.
Review 6:The rooms were not properly cleaned. We had to ask several times for shower and bath gel as these were not adequately provided dinner was quite expensive/person
Review 7:The situation of the hotel and the facilities ( swimming pool) and very nice breakfast
Review 8:If I would need to name something that I did not like that much , then I would say the beach - very natural, lots of stones and corals... However, I was well aware of this and not staying there for the beach - I was very active exploring the island and did a lot of hiking, so this didn't really matter to me at all.
Review 9:I don't speak French, but did not want to miss out on the opportunity to visit La Reunion. After lots of research, I decided to book the Le Recif where I stayed for 6 nights at the beginning of September 2015. I was pleasantly suprised that all of the staff I met were either speaking English fluently or at least trying to support me however possible. I was really not sure what to expect (after reading some more negative comments) and was affraid I may find it hard to get around... But, all the concerns I had before I got there melted away upon my arrival and I had a very, very comfortable stay! WiFi worked very well and at a decent speed which helped my daily trip planning. Thanks again to the Le Recif-Team - you helped and contributed a lot making this an incredible and unforgettable vacation.
Review 10:As with the rest of Reunion, if you don't speak French, it's a bit difficult to find anyone who speaks English. The staff does their best to help, and I had no major issues though.
Review 11:This hotel was a true gem. The rooms and entire facility were nice (not "dated" as the LP review mentioned) and well kept. The staff was friendly and accomodating. I didn't go with the meal option, but was surprised to see that the restaurant there was all-buffet, which while it was filled every night, isn't my thing. I would recommend this hotel.
Review 12:Smoking is allowed/tolerated by the hotel in the dining area/restaurant. Even so it is an open space, when people smoke at the tables around you it is quite a big minus for the quality of the diner.
Review 13:- location - friendly service - nice breakfast
Review 14:Typical of France & Reunion !!- Need to have more friendly English speaking staff to assist with luggage etc to the rooms and back.

Review 24:location, helpfulness of staff, clean and comfortable room, the pool and the family of cats. (they should be sterlised so they don't have more kittens though!).
