Reviews for Estalagem de Marvão - Casa de Campo

Review 1:It is a wonderful place. Nice cosy bedroom, small kitchen for breakfast feels like home. Very friendly and helpful staff. At the "Mercearia" on the lower level you can buy wonderful products like the best apples in the world.

Review 2:it was closed, the desk isn't open until 10. fortunately were able to call the number on the sign out front, and owner walked over immediately. The walls are thick, so no wifi in the rooms really

Review 3:or room was adorable, and centrally located. Very reasonably priced. Owner gave us good advice on where to eat and what to do with our little time (arriving at dusk and leaving in the morning)

Review 4:Very friendly owners and staff, perfekt English spoken, were upgraded to family room. Lovely log fire in community room on chilly evening. Good breakfast, kitchen facilities were available all day. Free parking in village.

Review 5:Very hard to communicate in English. Staff doesn't stay over night, and communal areas are not lit (so it felt dark and eerie). Our room smelt very musty and moldy...that's too bad because decor was OK. We stayed in many places in Portugal at this price range and got MUCH better value for our money.

Review 6:The location, Marvao is beautiful. Staff isn't on premises, so you have to wait for check in (we were pretty OK with that).

Review 7:Problems with internet access (not only weak signal in the room)

Review 8:The beautiful renovated historical house Very compact village with the nice castle In the sunset time almost without turists in streets, nice photos

Review 9:I loved the sense of peacefulness. The house is a historical building and it has been very well restored, the doors are the original and stone doorways have been preserved.

Review 10:No bad experience.

Review 11:We enjoyed the view from the room's window over the town's narrow streets. The breakfast was delicious and the parking close.

Review 12:Owners are so friedly that we think is our familly... The Place is really Paradise. Rooms warm and nice. Kitchen full and open always. Quaiet a d silence incredible. The Shop is a part of Rooms. Good choice of typical Thinks... Fresh cheese, fantastic bio Soaps and other Thinks. Great possibility to discover the Castle by Night))))! Best choise)))

Review 13:The bathroom is not heated and should have at least a towel dryer.

Review 14:The location is very beautiful and the staff is very nice. Breakfasts are delicious.

Review 15:Although there are only 6 rooms, if I'm not mistaken, all of them were booked and sometimes we would hear noise and people talking still very early in the morning, mainly children. Not the guesthouse's fault, though, just bad luck, I guess.

Review 16:The village is just to die for and the room was one of the best ones I've ever stayed in, as far as this kind of accommodation is concerned. My room was cozy and warm, very charming and inviting; the shower was amazing; the guesthouse was welcoming and the fireplace was the cherry on top! Oh, and I wish my breakfast were like that every day.

Review 17:The setting and charm of this wonderful guest house made Marvao one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive, the facilities were very well maintained and the breakfast was of a very high standard.

Review 18:nothing

Review 19:Wonderful location, very tastefully renewed and furnished, very friendly and helpful host, very nice breakfast, parking close to venue, beautiful village all withing walking distance, will definitely recommend, excellent value for money

Review 20:Small little paradise upon a hill far from the hustle and humble of the Algarve of Lisbon. Nice and open owners, lovely furnished rooms. Something special!

Review 21:We had a great stay at Estalagem de Marvão. It was extremely clean and located on top of an adorable town. We really enjoyed being able to walk everywhere, including the "old road" path into the next town and enjoy a swim at the natural pools! The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Review 22:Really clean and cosy place. We could keep our products in common fridge in the kitchen, clean bathroom, good breakfast, friendly staff and really beautiful area!

Review 23:Noise from the breakfast room could be heard quite loudly in our room.

Review 24:Very friendly staff, excellent conditions in an impeccably renovated house, and Marvão is beautiful!

Review 25:nothing to complain at all

Review 26:i have never put 10 out of 10 for lodging. this place is exceptional. owners, husband and wife, were the most accommodating, warm and welcoming. i did feel like a part of the family. marvao is breathtaking. top 2 in portugal, plus this apt is way above its class

Review 27:Location, reception, cleanliness of rooms, atmosphere, proximity to all points of interest, the groceries hop by same owners, and the fantastic breakfast.

Review 29:Lovely, comfortable room, spotlessly clean. Nice staff. Good breakfast.

Review 30:Nothing.

Review 31:A newly renovated historical building. It was very quiet during the night. I had a very good sleep. Breakfast was superb.

Review 32:Very nice and helpfull owner

Review 33:Nothing

Review 34:Everything especially the hospitality of the owner.

Review 35:Wifi signal was weak, not the hotel's fault. Marvao is a remote mountain village.

Review 36:Great staff, she was very welcoming.

Review 37:Amazing place, nice, clean and comfortable room. Friendly staff. If you will visit Marvao, you must definitely stay in this house!

Review 38:Wifi connection at common area only

Review 39:Beautiful historic property. Very friendly owner. Very highly recommended.

Review 40:Nothing!

Review 41:The peace and quiet after time in the city. Everything was clean and well looked after ?

Review 42:Staff and shop within the hotel.

Review 43:Quaint family run hotel, with all the comforts of home, right in the centre of what is a truely remarkable village

Review 44:wifi didnt work ok

Review 45:renovated old house everything new and clean, big rooms with lot of comfort

Review 46:Use of kitchen. Wifi worked well. Setting was great, in the center of the fortress.

Review 47:Extremely friendly staff. Complimentary tea, coffee and pastry at night. The sofa near the fireplace. Excellent location.

Review 48:Everything

Review 49:Immaculate presentation and cleanliness. Parking is not private but is only a few metres away. I will be back.

Review 50:Location, quiet, friendly/helpful host, good breakfast, good wifi, little grocery with basics.

Review 51:Location. Character of building and accommodation

Review 52:Wonderful experience. Fantastic stay with low cost

Review 53:A great find. Everything is new. Well furnished. Wifi was great. Easy to find. Owners are very knowledgeable.

Review 54:Parking in Marvao is difficult and driving from the main lot to get closer to the inn involves very narrow and steep village streets.( Actually that was fun however.) If you don't have heavy luggage the walk from the lot just insde the city walls is not too far

Review 55:Right in the historic center of the village. Beautiful historic building but very comfortable and quiet. Delightful staff

Review 56:No complaints at all. Or for the sake of realism, let me complain that the yoghurt from the Continente supermarket is too sweet for my taste. There!

Review 57:This is a perfectly beautiful place in an excellent location (including being close to the best car park, down a flight of stairs). Owners and staff are delightful people. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully appointed. The breakfasts are generous and delicious. Marvao is a special place! -- Much better as a base for exploring than Castelo de Vide, where you will feel dominated by the automobile. You will love being here in the evenings when you have the city walls and the lovely castle all to yourselves. This is the best place to stay in Marvao--even nicer than the Posada, which costs two or three times as much.

Review 58:Incredibly helpful and pleasant owners and staff. An interesting building imaginatively converted in the very centre of the village, attached to a shop (same owners) with excellent local food products and gifts at sensible prices.

Review 59:The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were even allowed to eat breakfast at a later hour than the specified, and this was a very nice one :) The hotel is in an old building which was renovated and is looking great now, keeping the characteristic of the building and looking very clean.

Review 60:Everything. I want to stress the outstanding simpathy of the owners.

Review 61:The location, the staff, the rooms, and of course, Marvão itself!!!

Review 62:bascially nothing

Review 63:the cosy atmosphere; comfortable bed room and dining area, as well as wifi facilities

Review 64:Nothing really

Review 65:Location Staff very helpful and attentive Large room Decoration of the hotel
