Reviews for Hotel Colina Dos Mouros

Review 1:No functioning plug in wash basin. The breakfast hot drinks from a machine were truly awful - coffee instant and disgusting, and the diy tea had to be made by adding a teabag to "warmish" water - with predictably grim results.

Review 2:Good view of town and castle from North facing rooms. Quite good breakfast except for the hot drinks.

Review 3:Welcome by staff at reception mediocre. No wifi in rooms

Review 4:Lovely vicinity near town. Good pool And gardens Rooms dpacious Cleaning staff excellent and friendly.

Review 5:Would have liked WiFi in the room.

Review 6:Nice room, WiFi good in reception and a nice outside seating areas. Breakfast was good. Central location, short walk to Solves.

Review 7:Attractive, comfortable, spacious Hotel with traditional style brickwork and arches. Panoramic views from breakfast area and terraced bar. Located ideally for walking into the city and the 'Silves Festival'

Review 8:The room is not like described. No balcony,no view. You have to pay asmall addition for those wich you cannot choose here in booking. TheHotel blames Booking.com for that. When I said I will pay the additiothere were no rooms available.Anyways it's a scam. We got a roomgroundfloor, next to the entrance with view on the parking. Like a motel.High season or not that room isn't worth 80 euros. Maximum half ofit. Satellite tv?? My laptop screen is bigger than the tv wichdidn't even work. We arrived 5pm. I had to go beg for towels at thereception (my wife was already showering) where they told me the laundrywas not delivered yet....No I didn't stay calm or friendly. 10minutes later they brought towels. Besides all that, the floor is softerthan the bed.

Review 9:Only the location.Walking distance to Silves.

Review 10:Nice pool area. Very very basic and tired room. Was fine for an overnight stop to go to medieval fair but wouldn't want to stop any longer. Just a basic soulless stopover. Nothing bad just meh

Review 11:No allowance for early departure as far as breakfast concerned. Breakfast offered at time of booking. Receptionist kindly got some milk so we could have cereal.

Review 12:Location very good for what we wanted

Review 13:The hotel is very tired and desperately in need of refurbishment. The rooms are old and tired (there were some insects in the tired, worn down bathroom, a gecko on the bedroom wall). The curtains do not block out the light, the decor is very dated and the beds are hard. I would love to say some nice things about the hotel but for the price (107 euros for a triple room per night in high season) it is very expensive for what you get. But there are very few hotels (if any) here in Silves with swimming pools. A superb town, so worth visiting but the town is crying out for a good hotel to make it a 'must visit' destination. This hotel just is very very disappointing.

Review 14:The reception staff were lovely and very helpful. It~s in a great location, overlooking the town, with a great view of the castle.

Review 15:The clearing around the pool was not so good and It was a wasp's nest just beside the pool ladder... AC didnt work...

Review 16:Nice view fr.o.m. the terrace... A short walk to the town... The breakfast was okey

Review 17:My room wasn't swept on one of the days and place could do with a refurb

Review 18:Good sized room pleasant staff lovely bread at breakfast modern bathroom nice atmosphere

Review 19:Staff could have been a little bit more friendly. They were once you approached them but it would have been good to get a few more smiles from them.

Review 20:Location and cleanliness of hotel really good

Review 21:Nothing really. It was a bit dated, but this did not detract from this being an enjoyable overnight stay.

Review 22:The position of the hotel overlooking the town and its castle. The ease of access and parking. The very low price during the winter. The price of drinks in the bar.

Review 23:Apart from breakfast which was very basic there was no food available at the hotel, no tea making facilities in the room which was very small. The access to the car park is very narrow and winding and I scratched my car on the railings, obviously not the first person to have done this

Review 24:Good view overlooking Silves castle.

Review 25:Rooms are beginning to look a little tired.

Review 26:Easy access, although a little far to walk, and hotel is a little out of town. But well placed to view the old town and river valley between.

Review 27:Hotel is OK for one night but showing a number of signs of wear and tear and requires some investment.

Review 28:Location (walking distance to town of Silves) and views over town and castle are superb.

Review 29:The shower - needed replacing

Review 30:The view, the hotel decor, the garden. The price! The Hotel had an amazing view of Silves and was just across the bridge.

Review 31:Wasted lights day time in breakfast area! Misleading info on description of hotel. There is only Wifi in the lounge/breakfast area. Very annoying. No wifi in Bedrooms. This should be clear on Booking.com general info.

Review 32:Location just across from the new bridge so 10 mins walk into town. Helpful reception staff. Off season price!

Review 33:Breakfast was basic continental buffet with coffee machine all self service.

Review 34:Nice hotel with a great view over the castle and cathedral, the beds are ok but pillows are a bit lumpy. It's a quiet little town but nice relaxing place.

Review 35:Very noisy and exposed rooms to the front - we changed to a rear room with view of Silves and the castle after the first night. Beds very hard - although probably beneficial for your spine.

Review 36:Helpful friendly staff, fine view of Silves and castle, great food, inexpensive, great central location for getting around the Algarve

Review 37:Our first room was on the ground floor, adjacent to main entrance and over looked the rental area for the electric bikes and where taxis waited so didn't feel private. We changed room .. No fuss made . No extra cost

Review 38:View from the rooms on side but especially the rear rooms is like a postcard of the town. Rooms were basic but clean, comfortable and well equipped. Huge balcony on some rooms. We swapped for this at no extra cost . Seamless transfer when it became free. Very good lunch menu . Hope pool and garden well cared for . Lots of restaurants a short walk over the river bridge. Hope to vist for longer next time

Review 39:Our beds were very noisy, they need attention, and the pillows are small and poor quality.

Review 40:The good looks of the hotel and views, nice garden and pool. The food is value for money. The room clean.

Review 41:The bathroom drains were smelly and the toilet seat was damaged and should have been changed. The breakfast was poor. The worst thing was the noise from the corridor outside the room and the noise when people or cleaners moved furniture in adjoining rooms.

Review 42:Location and view from the room. Bed was comfortable and staff were polite. Good parking. We had a snack at the bar and everything was fresh.

Review 43:I asked for a wheat free breakfast and this was not provided. staff were indifferent towards me. It was noisy in the night from staff Lighting in my room did not work breakfast was very limited

Review 44:The pool was clean. The terrace was a nice place to sit

Review 45:The furniture and fittings are dated and need replacing. Wi Fi is not available .

Review 46:The location is excellent as is the pool area. The staff are friendly and helpful

Review 47:Service of 1 ignorant person at reception. Rooms so basic for a fab looking hotel and beds so uncomfortable and hear everything in other rooms was woke many times. Breakfast was a joke no wonder it was free!!! Nothing to do there when staying more than 1 night..

Review 48:The pool

Review 49:The soap dispensers at shower and wash hand were not very efficient and awkward to use. The tourist menu would benefit from being changed each day.

Review 50:The hotel had a very peaceful ambience which is what lots of people want when on holiday. Staff were unobtrusive, but helpful. The pool area was people friendly and the hotel location was ideal to walk to Silves.

Review 51:Meals only average.

Review 52:Great location with views from the room ( make sure your room is at the rear of the hotel ) over to the castle. Pleasant stroll into Silves. Plenty of free parking.

Review 53:We often stay at this hotel and it is most definitely value for money.

Review 54:Hard bed

Review 55:Situation

Review 56:Room comfort and facilities are just average.

Review 57:Terrace and location is good.

Review 58:Reception staff were very helpful at all times.

Review 59:Wifi only accessible in bar, bathrooms a bit dated.....

Review 60:Great location and pool.

Review 61:Bit out of the way, definitely require a hire car so you can get out and about.

Review 62:Great pool and plenty of sun beds.

Review 63:Love the area have been here few times before & great over medieval festival.

Review 64:Breakfast choice very limited; not really worth bothering with.

Review 65:Perfect location. Lovely well maintained grounds. Clean pool area.

Review 66:Air con didn't work in room and with the heat wave of 40plus degrees. My family couldn't sleep

Review 67:Great location for silves mediaeval festival

Review 68:Slightly noisy location and hotel

Review 69:Facilities were good. Nice pool

Review 70:Grumpy reception staff on arrival

Review 71:Location and view from terrace

Review 72:comfortable, friendly helpful personnel, good view of Silves from the balcony

Review 73:noise at 5am wheeling cases on tiled floors

Review 74:dining room and breakfast excellent

Review 75:Staff friendly, prices very reasonable. Situated overlooking a beautiful Moorish Castle.

Review 76:Staff, erratic wifi, breakfast

Review 77:Location

Review 78:No evening meal at this time of the year.

Review 79:Excellent value, clean and comfortable, friendly staff.

Review 80:No tea/coffee making facility in the room.

Review 81:The hotel is modern, staff friendly and room although modest was comfortable,

Review 82:Bedroom is a bit basic and not much of a selection at Breakfast.

Review 83:Location, car park and views.

Review 84:No fruit with breakfast, but otherwise adequate.

Review 85:Nice grounds, easy walk into town. Helpful staff.

Review 86:Could have done with some background music during breakfast and dinner as the silence in the room was intense!

Review 87:Location and views Cleaned every day

Review 88:Offhand Reception Staff, Poor Quality of Matresses, Very Noisy at night.

Review 89:Position, Pool area good breakfast.

Review 90:No critisisms

Review 91:Helpful staff let me book in early and upgraded my room at no cost so more than I could expect. Good view of town.

Review 92:Poor beds ,usual cheap Spanish type beds . Average breakfast.

Review 93:Great staff Hotel great value for money

Review 94:Beds Rock Hard

Review 95:We like the hotel because it is within walking distance to the center of Silves, has great views, staff and a nice breakfast and also free parking.

Review 96:Breakfast was pretty basic, hotel had no real character. Just an ordinary if reasonably priced hotel.

Review 97:The location was good and we had a good view of the castle. Reasonable value for money.

Review 98:Shower needed updating

Review 99:Location five minutes walk to old part of Silves.Fabulous views of the castle.Glad to have a good sized swimming pool with plenty of outside seating.

Review 100:Well... Nothing !

Review 101:5mn walk from the bus stop : just cross the old bridge and take the path on your left. From the hotel, you'll have full view of Silves old town and (beautiful) castle. Comfortable and well equiped rooms (some have balcony). Very nice swimming pool and terrace (with THE view) with resting chairs and umbrellas. Lots of birds especially the great whitestork. Welcoming staff. Nice bar service (with small terrace and the view). Nice breakfast buffet.

Review 102:Situated on hill but ok. Premises a little tired but spotlessly clean.

Review 103:Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent value for money.Nice grounds and swimming pool.Very reasonable tariff which offers excellent value for money Recommended.

Review 104:breakfast was poor with machine made synthetic orange juice when there were orange groves visible out of the windows and oranges in season throughout the area. The coffee too was a poor, muddy and self-dispensed from a machine.

Review 105:The views over the river to the cathedral and castle were lovely.

Review 106:Whilst bathroom was excellent quality (and probably one of the biggest I've had) the Water pressure in shower was a bit disappointing, I wouldn't let this put you off staying at this fab hotel as you still get a good shower!

Review 107:Views of castle Staff very responsive and helpful Room comfort Location

Review 108:Bathrooms need updating as shower tray very stained from dripping water & shower screen was rickerty. As it was only march we would of appreciated tea/coffee facility in room.

Review 109:We have stayed here twice for a short trip, been fine on both occasions. Brilliant location as just a short walk over the bridge to the beautiful centre of Silves.

Review 110:No free WiFi. Breakfast was not good: orange juice from concentrate and tinned fruit . . . in southern Portugal and next door to an orange grove!

Review 111:Position: good view over the town and within easy walking distance of the town centre.

Review 112:Location and value for money is excellent. We stayed for four nights half board in January and we were the only couple on half board but the food was excellent. The hotel is dated but does what it says on the tin! The staff were very helpful.

Review 113:we were disappointed with our meal on our first evening. we were served the wrong main courses.

Review 114:room301 was perfect for the view of silves and my disability.

Review 115:Nothing really to dislike but totally lacking in atmosphere unlike the town.

Review 116:Clean, comfortable, functional hotel. An easy stroll into the town centre and a fabulous view of Silves castle which is illuminated at night.

Review 117:After walking back to the hotel in the late afternoon we found we were unable to have an evening meal as the restaurant was closed necessitating another walk back into town! Probably our fault: should have checked!

Review 118:The location was superb & the view from our back room overlooking Silves & its castle could not be bettered. The breakfast was fine although not that inspiring. However with so few guests at this time of year I would not expect a large selection to be displayed only to be wasted! The helpful staff allowed us to check-in early to save us dragging our suitcase around town as we had arrived by public transport. A nice touch.

Review 119:No complaints whatsoever.

Review 120:This was the perfect stay for us on our travels around Portugal. The location was ideal for walking access into Silves and for using the car. We had a good view from our balcony overlooking the gardens and castle.

Review 121:No free Wi-Fi and the available was expansive. It was cheaper the roaming. Hostels give it always for free. As backpackers I wouldn't recommend it.

Review 122:Clean, comfortable, big breakfast. The view on the castle of Silves was spectacular. Several seaside location 10/20 minutes away by car. Free parking lot. Perfect for families.

Review 123:We stayed here for the location, it is a short walk over the bridge to the event we were attending, staff are friendly, check-in/out is easy, breakfast is fine, the view of the castle is lovely from the balcony and we will stay again next year.

Review 124:The air conditioning in the bedroom was ineffective and there weren't any activities/facilities available for a young child other than the swimming pool, which was full of adults. The pool was used by local Portuguese people who just wandered in and took over. The walk into Silves was alongside a busy road so not very pleasant. The hotel was advertised as being family friendly but wasn't really set up for children at all. The food in the hotel was absolutely awful.

Review 125:The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 126:One particular member of staff who was very rude and unhelpful. Heseems to be on duty during the week behind reception and is probablythe manager.

Review 127:The facilities and location. Everything is close by including some fineplaces to eat.

Review 128:Room 413 had a noticeable garbage or sewage odor whenever you walked into it. We ended up leaving the window open and placing a dummy card into the key controlled power source to keep the air conditioner running so the smell was bearable. They have a 25 Euro charge for changing rooms. They touted a safe in the room, but it cost 2 euros to get a lock for it. The bathroom had a moldy shower stall with doors you had to work at to get them to open. The toilet ran all the time. One of the two twin beds creaked so bad it woke both of us up whenever you rolled over. There was no keyed access back into the hotel from the swimming pool. You had to prop the door open with a chair, but if somebody moved it and let the door close, you had to walk through the parking lot and lobby to get back to your room. No brewed coffee for breakfast, you got it out of a machine.

Review 129:Great location with a beautiful castle and old town view. Good breakfast and dinner on half- board plan. Good wait staff for dinner service.

Review 130:Restaurant was very disappointing for dinner and although breakfast was good the coffee was virtually undrinkable

Review 131:Fantastic location and views of the castle, lovely pool

Review 132:Our 4th visit, so we like this hotel, it is quiet, nice little city nice people and helpful staff. Comfortable beds and good bathroom with hot water.

Review 133:The price-fixed meal was very bland and unimaginative but the service was good.

Review 134:The location was great, and it was easy to find. Our room looked out over the town and castle. Friendly staff.

Review 135:No free WiFi, an oddity here in the Algarve. The plumbing was a little eccentric but tolerable.

Review 136:Fantastic view of Silves castle. On site parking was handy, and the hotel was 5 minutes walk from the edge of the old town, where there are plenty of restaurants. The room was large and comfortable and the general ambience restful.

Review 137:No wifi!!!Charging 6 euros per hour to use the web in the lobby is outrageous. Staff could have been friendlier. Cleaning of the common areas could have been better. During the three days I was there the same pieces of paper littered the outside patio (only a few feet from the reception desk). The same cigarette butts stayed in the (rainwater filled) ashtrays. Breakfast dishes lingered on the tables hours after breakfast was over.

Review 138:Location. Good view of the city and a easy, enjoyable walk to thecenter.Nice big room.
