Reviews for Real Abadia, Congress & Spa Hotel
Review 1:Hotel evening menu limited, found going out to nearby town of Alcobaca was of benefit as wide selection traditional foods available
Review 2:Great quiet location just outside of the main town area, easy access to coastal regions Nazare, upto Praia da Vieira explored, some interesting local industrial beach based fishing at Vieira beach
Review 3:You will have read my recent email re the unusual toilet paper requirements. Not what one expects from any hotel, especially one given 4 stars!! One point, they really do have to straighten out with their restaurant & bar the actual time of closing. As on both the Saturday and Sunday the waiter\barman stated the closing time to be 1 hour earlier than that shown in the information booklets in the hotel room. On the Saturday, I had no joy in getting a cup of coffee or a drink. On the Sunday, I insisted on a meal pointing out the discrepancy. He went off to ask, came back saying I could order, and he was then nice and helpful during the process.
Review 4:The niceness of the staff, particularly the receptionist who checked me in, was very helpful and with whom I had enjoyable talks.
Review 5:There was no bottled water in the room and the bathroom did not had a cup to support tootbrush. Not enough sitting space at breakfast.
Review 6:Room is confortable, quiet and the exterior is very nice - pool, gardens and a bird watching house.
Review 7:no bathrobes included in price, no slipper. Very low lights in bathroom, can hardly see yourself in the mirror. Food choice at breakfast limited, no plain youghurt, no vegetables at all to go with breakfast, only hard boiled eggs, no black tea! These shortfalls maybe due to arriving after long weekend and the whole place is empty on a Monday morning.
Review 8:great spa (sauna and turkish steam room), indoor and outdoor swimming pool
Review 9:Set evening meal kept warm on a buffet. Noisy local dogs in the evening/night.
Review 10:Luxury hotel at a budget price. Friendly helpful staff. Good continental breakfast.
Review 11:Helpful and friendly staff. Nice facilities (restaurant, swimming pool, etc. Comfortable parking. Beautiful landscape. Good price in the low season. Tasty breakfast.
Review 12:Breakfast was nice but not terribly varied. Evening meal looked a bit grim. Beds not too comfy.
Review 13:Location was great. Staff really friendly. Rooms lovely. Definitely would go back
Review 14:Not enough people to provide a correct service. Disappointing meals, especially breakfast. Beware in your room, no courtesy services (coffee is not free). Absolutely not a 4 stars, just a moderned brand new hotel.
Review 15:Nice room and spa
Review 16:Overall nice design hotel. Young staff, friendly, correct, English speaking. Clean, good sized comfortable rooms with nice views from balcony. Beautiful free spa. Good location for visits to Alcobaca, Obidos, Nazare, ... Some MINOR issues: the outside pool is freezing cold (but the one inside is nice and warm). Breakfast is ok, but a tad basic (no eggs, no local specialities, watery fruit juices...). We didn't have diner in the hotel.
Review 17:Far from everything
Review 18:Exelent hotel
Review 19:CONDITIONED AIR NON WORKING IN THE NIGHT
Review 20:New hotel with all modern faciliteis
Review 21:I cannot nominate thing that I wouldn't like
Review 22:Beautifully located hotel with good food and very nice and helpful staff.
Review 23:- only Buffet in the restaurant. A la carte not possible! - a car is mandatory
Review 24:- Pool & Spa - Design - very helpful staff - dream location
Review 25:Nothing!
Review 26:It's a wonderful place! Very new hotel, in a beautiful landscape near to Alcobaca. The design is overwhelming, the Junior Suite was really perfect. The location is ideal for excursions or day-trips to Batalha, Fatima, Nazaré, ... The outdoor pool and the wellness area are great for lazy afternoons. And finally: The restaurant offers an upmarket quality.
Review 27:The address of the hotel was not found by our GPS navigator. The road panels were tiny and scanty. It took us almost an hour to find the hotel, that is located in nowhere land.
Review 28:The views from this hotel are stunning, but almost all of the (floor to ceiling) windows in the public areas and the room were rather dirty. As the hotel is in a rural area with a sewage infrastructure to match, one had to place used toilet paper in a bin - which is very common in Portugal and not a problem in itself, but there was no bin liner, which made the whole affair feel unclean (and we felt sorry for the poor cleaners!) Room cleaning went on until 6 pm or so one day, so we were unable to return to our room after a tiring day out. At breakfast there were only two or three serving spoons for about 20 dishes and different types of jam etc., so you had to go looking for one and use it even if something else was sticking to it. One waiter was on breakfast duty with around 30 covers and was clearly in need of some help. The grounds are gorgeous at first glance, but weedy and not terribly well-kept, with cigarette butts in the driveway etc. Light in the hallway is practically non-existent, so we had to feel our way to the room at night. Finally, the hotel has a nice spa area with a list of treatments - but this list is only available at reception, is printed in tiny print, and only in Portuguese. I would have probably opted for a treatment if I hadn't had to ask the staff to translate this long list for me, which I didn't want to bother them with. If this was not a 4*, I probably would not have been annoyed by most of these issues and to be honest they didn't impact much on our stay. But they were annoying nonetheless. This place should really try a bit harder, then it would be perfect.
Review 29:We had high hopes for this place and booked in for a three night stay to use it as a base to explore the region. On the surface of it, this hotel is lovely: the staff are very courteous and kind, the place is very well designed and everything's in very good taste. The grounds are also lovely, especially the pool area and views across to the Serra. Breakfast was plentiful (I'd read some bad reviews but the choice was more than enough, although maybe not 4* standard). Wifi reception excellent everywhere including in the room.
