Reviews for The Port Masters Lodgings
Review 1:If you want to be in Devonport city - you need to drive or catch the ferry, but much quieter on the Eastside!
Review 2:We stayed 2 nights in the Captain's Cabin - oh how devine! The decor was amazing, the bed was a dream come true, the furniture was quirky! Loved the table, coffee table and 'hanging space' in bedroom. The extras such as variety of teas & sauces, all added to the experience. Clothesline and washer a bonus. Location was great, close to foreshore, shops and pub for a Bistro meal. Although on other side of the Mersey, we didn't actually venture to the other side very often (only to check out an amazing Antique shop). Off street parking was a bonus. Plenty of walking to be enjoyed. Loved it! Will definitely recommend to friend and family and look forward to our next visit with extended family.
Review 3:Bathroom looked nice but wasn't practical as there was no bench space and shower door didn't keep water out of rest of bathroom.
Review 4:Atmosphere (cozy, rustic and beautifully furnished), facilities. Would make a fantastic base for a few days for relaxing and seeing the north coast.
Review 5:We stayed for 3 nights at the end of our 12 day stay in Tassie and it was by far the best of a bunch. It had everything you needed and more, my family loved every minute of our stay.
Review 6:Bit daunting at first like ur at someone's house but as soon as u go into the captains apartment it's so nice and comfortable :)
Review 7:The apartment was lovely, washing machine, mini kitchen, cute little touches everywhere, clean throughout.
Review 8:The shower set up was in one room with the toilet which was a bit awkward & made everything wet
Review 9:I loved the gardens & the ambiance it was so relaxing also close to restaurant Red 26 great food
Review 10:We couldn't just stay one night. We had to book a second whilst we were there!
Review 11:We were fortunate to have the estate to ourselves for our first night (I say estate because the residence is a grand old house beautifully restored and the gardens to match). We enjoyed a garden breakfast. The main house we stayed in had everything you could need to make your stay comfortable and luxurious. Well appointed kitchen, all entertainment items including a book exchange, DVDs and kids toys.
Review 12:There were no staff to assist with queries and help us get settled in, or to accept an alternative method of payment from the credit card used to secure the booking. When staff were called by telephone for entry assistance it took a couple of hours for them to return the call. By then we had resolved our issues anyway without their assistance, but it was frustrating and we wondered what would have happened if we were unable to resolve our entry issues ourselves. We also suspect we did not get the room we booked, but we are not sure about this. We selected a $139 room from a choice of $129 and $139 rooms, but we did not see any rooms at the facility smaller or with smaller beds than the one we stayed in. We believed we were ordering a room with a larger bed and that was the extra money we were paying for, but the bed was quite small in comparison with our expectations.
Review 13:We liked the privacy and security of the facility as well as the cleanliness of the room and just how well the unit was equipped. The gardens were also well maintained giving a peaceful ambience to the facility. Overall, in spite of the things we did not like, we enjoyed our stay there, and would consider staying there again.
Review 14:No Optus signal.Hard to get cab back to accommodation from Dev.after midnight. No complaints about the PML.
Review 15:Quiet,close to pub with great meals, very tidy and friendly owner
Review 16:Television was difficult to watch in the position it was in. Not sure how that could be overcome.
Review 17:Very clean and tidy. Loved the decor. Would stay here again.
Review 18:The bed was the old style double which tended to sage into the centre. It was fixed in place but so close to one wall the you had to climb over your partner to get to the left side. Plenty of space for parking but very tight to turn your vehicle around.
Review 19:Beautifully presented and maintained share of a cottage. Lovely big lounge and well equiped kitchen. Pleasant gardens.
Review 20:Too much furniture in small room- nice chair but not functional.Put bed end seat where chair is-? pad it. Unable to unlock sliding cupboard for extra linen and ? ironing board. Extra bathmat would be good given wet area for using bathroom after showering
Review 21:Key system/ Gate Decor Amenities and little extras- nice coffee etc Great bed Nice surrounds
Review 22:My booking said it would be a King Size Bed. Bed was only a double hence we got little sleep.
Review 23:It was a lovely unit at rear of house. Very tastefully decorated.
Review 24:The bathroom was beautiful and modern however had a quirky shower. The shower rose was in the middle of the bathroom so water went everywhere.
Review 25:Very close to the ferry terminal. Historic building with period features and tastefully decorated. The room was clean and fresh with a comfortable brass bed, timber floors and plantation shutters. All the necessities for our one night stay in Devonport.
Review 26:Nobody on site and information sent to us via email.Great if you have access to such.
Review 27:A very impressive short stay to have early access to ferry.Would fully recommend this establishment!
Review 28:Shower position over the main bathroom floor was a potential occupational health issue-It meant one stood in water after anyone had showered -Security gates caused much inconvenience
Review 29:Very disappointing-
Review 30:It's not clear in the advertisement that the house is split in to three separate accommodations. It can be disconcerting to see other people wandering in and out when you're not expecting it.
Review 31:The house is beautiful. Kitchen facilities, dvd's, books and children's toys are supplied which is fantastic. Location for the Ferry is brilliant.
Review 32:Has no bathroom or bedroom doors, only shades that pull across, giving no privacy. Also no extra blankets, needed in the Tasmanian winter.
Review 33:Spotlessly clean, very welcoming and great location adjacent to ferry terminal, and a lot of history.
Review 34:The big minus was the noise at night due to the awning hitting the sides of the unit over and over. We didn't sleep well at all due to the bumps and bangs. The security light going off and on constantly put us on edge. I can't really rate higher than this as it majorly effected our comfort. Location on other side of Devonport a bit annoying as only a bottle shop/bookies nearby.
Review 35:The bed was comfy Well equipped kitchen
Review 36:No comfortable chairs to sit on. I kept sliding off the bar stools and the lounge chair was good to look at not very comfortable to watch TV - so there was no where for two people to sit to watch TV
Review 37:Location, cleanliness, little touches like the free wifi and chocolates in the fridge (not that I had one), lovely towels, nice bed. The meal at the hotel across the road was great and convenient.
Review 38:No hot plate. That's just my fussiness as I don't like microwaves but great other than that. Clean, comfy and the heater was on when I arrived which was a very nice gesture. Recommended!
Review 39:Minor stuff like location of TV and interesting way to get into the lodgings.
Review 40:Private, care and attention very apparent. The sthoughtful choccies and well equipped kitchenette were great. I imagine in summer the deck would be great.
Review 41:The unit we stayed in is called One and it is not like the unit in the picture nor is it on the same property. The couch is an old claw foot bath which is great if you are very short, the hanging chairs are not practical as they take up too much room in a small unit. The mattress is a queen on a double frame. Very tight vehicle access when the neighbour parks their car by the gate. Small car only. Very quaint but not at all practical.
Review 42:WiFi, Self Contained with all we needed, Great outside area for summer & close to where we needed to be.
Review 43:Wi Fi was so slow it became un-useable. Had to rely on y phone hotspot. Would have been nice if heater was turned on prior to arrival as it was very cold and took time to warm up.
Review 44:Felt that it was not advertised correctly the picture on website was not where we stayed, unit we stayed in was way down the street and took some time to find it. looked like old factory site around it like a prison fenced in.
Review 45:neat tidy, warm
Review 46:One of us had a bad fall caused by the coffee table. It is very low and blends in too much with the flooring and it is in line with the front door.
Review 47:Quiet. Secure. Good position to all facilities. TV in bedroom and a more comfortable divan would be good to make it more comfortable and relaxing.
Review 48:The couch was uncomfortable and made the room very sterile and small. I Would have loved a nice comfy couch to relax in but the fold out couch just didn't deliver with comfort. It would have been nice to have a continental breakfast available for early travellers The price was reasonable for the convenience to be fair.
Review 49:Ease to the port, security gating, bed was comfy and good communication with landlords even though we didn't meet them. Nice to have some easter Choccies upon arrival.
Review 50:The doorways gave no protection against light and sound. Had to be up at 5.30 so couldn't use my ear plugs (woken before alarm anyway!)
Review 51:A bit of history at the end of our Tasmanian Holiday.
Review 52:The driveway is a bit narrow so turning around after parking in (especially if there are other cars there) was quite difficult. There wasn't much else around, so you'd need to drive to the other side of the river for sights and info.
Review 53:It's very nicely done up and very comfortable.
Review 54:WiFi and gate remote not working at time of stay.
Review 55:Beautifully appointed apartment. Very quiet. Located near pub/bistro (end of street), near Ferry, near foreshore track for walk/run/cycle.
Review 56:loved the way the "Captains Cabin" was decorated and the newness and cleanliness of everything Had everything we needed for our overnight stay put us in the mood for our sailing the next day on the Spirit of Tasmania
Review 57:A bit expensive.
Review 58:Very clean and cozy. Also just a stone throw away from the Spirit of Tasmania terminal
Review 59:A self-contained 5-star private enclosure! Thoroughly enjoyed the level of thoughtfulness and detail in its presentation.
Review 60:Very small, 1 chair, you can hear the guests talking from next door and the bathroom was not good.
Review 61:The cramped conditions and lack of sound priofing from the rest of the building
Review 62:The grounds and the cleanliness
Review 63:Amazing place
Review 64:Very quaint place in a fantastic area. I was pleasantly surprised by the free barbecue and laundry!
Review 65:We absolutely loved the ensuite.
Review 66:Noise from people leaving the pub across the road. No dryer to quickly dry washed clothes
Review 67:Excellent facilities
Review 68:close to the ferry. Comfortable and very clean.
Review 69:Conjoined room was not ideal Children running around until late at night.
Review 70:Location was good security gate good addition
Review 71:the apartment was very well equipped
Review 72:The character, history, attention to detail and relaxing gardens of this outstanding property.
Review 73:Nothing
Review 74:We loved this accommodation the location coming off the spirit of Tasmania was excellent and if was a joy to stay at
Review 75:Location and quirkyness
Review 76:A comfortable chair to sit in would have been nice.
Review 77:Lovely location, very clean and presentable. Loved the locked gate and felt safe.
Review 78:No-one to greet you, not used to no reception, but security instructions were good
Review 79:Decor was beautiful if you like old wordly charm
Review 80:Ambience. Proximity to ferry terminal.
Review 81:Small bed. No electric blankets.
Review 82:Good facilities
Review 83:A comfortable stay, with ease of access and beautiful surroundings
Review 84:Did not like the door to the bathroom
Review 85:Just about everything in the cabin
Review 86:The cleanliness, comfort, style and layout - everything was excellent.
Review 87:Loved wandering around the garden. Quite inspiring. A lovely hideaway
Review 88:nothing

Review 90:Everything about our stay was amazing thanku to the owners the survey did not work properly
Review 91:Couch too low and uncomfortable
Review 92:Cleanliness
Review 93:very quiet
Review 94:The comfort of own cabin. Able to do washing and relax inside very pleasant surrounds. With rose garden and lovers swing in back garden.
Review 95:Clean comfortable, good location and easy to find from the Spirit. Great value for money.
Review 96:Excellent accommodation and an ideal location near the ferry. Top notch.
Review 97:Noisy neighbours at 1 am
Review 98:Comfortable and modern
