Review 2:All the staff were excellent and friendly The room with the sea view was great The breakfast and dinner was excellent with generous portions Free taxi to and from the Airport ! ! !
Review 3:It was my wife's birthday during our stay and we had a delicious meal with them with complimentary cocktails, so obliging in every way. We loved the pool and not forgetting Filipe the cat.
Review 4:The good accommodation, the excellent facilities, the spectacular ocean view, and the high quality restaurant are not the best part of Casa de Velho Dragoeiro. What makes this place special is the very warm and personal care of Maria Helena and Bob and their wonderful staff. Not to forget Felipe, the cat with an attitude. Highly recommended!
Review 5:Great location, very fresh. Went welcomed by a nice girl with champagne:) The staff were excellent, we eat at their own restaurant both nights, it was delicious! Very professional and nice waiter, who drove us to the boat when we were leaving. The owners were so nice and friendly, so were their cat, Filipè :) We also were allowed to have our bags on the hotel all day, after checkout time. Thank you for a lovely time!
Review 6:Everyone at Casa do Velho Dragoiero did their utmost to make our stay enjoyable, nothing was too much trouble and it made for a very memorable and enjoyable stay.
Review 7:Nothing.
Review 8:Excellent position within the town, great food, exceptional attention to detail from Helena, Bob, Sergio and Marta. Warm welcome and service beyond the call of duty.

Best regards to you all there hope we will see you one day.
Review 10:We really felt at home throughout our 4-night stay - the owners and staff have a cheerful attitude. We used the well-kept gardens, the pool and the complimentary bicycles too. What I liked was the service, the central location, & the general quality of this establishment.
Review 11:The owners and staff were fantastic and could not do enough for us during our stay. They all went out of their way to make our trip special. The breakfast was exceptional as was the dinner at the restaurant. A real piece of heaven and we would thoroughly recommend a stay here if anyone is going to Porto Santo. Make sure you book well in advance though to ensure you get a room.
Review 12:1 - This accommodation has only 3 [three] bedrooms, one of which is in the middle of the other two, and only has a entry door, so no windows or air conditioning; at night and even so during the day, we have to keep the door open! Me and my two childs, of 9 and 12 years, we did sleep with the door open, because of the high temperature. 2 - To access any of the three rooms is necessary to climb various levels of stairs, a total of 40 steps. Unbelievable! 3 - At the end of the stay, i ask for the complaint book, and they didn´t give it to me. They did so, only after the Police coming, that has been called by the owner!!!
Review 13:1 - It´s in the centre of Vila Baleira. 2 - It has a swimming pool.
Review 14:Room was slightly cramped and not the greatest air circulation but still nice and peaceful.
Review 15:There was a very nice complimentary welcome surprise of champagne and codfish cakes after our long voyage. The staff and management was also very friendly and accommodating. Great location with the town center and beach only a couple of minutes by foot. As a reminder there is a shuttle service from the ferry that unfortunately we were not made aware of.
Review 16:Since the rooms are close to the restaurant it can be a bit noisy during the evening, also the cleaning starts arount 8-9am in the morning with some noise, but these are not too much disturbing.
Review 17:Very nice staff, comfortable and nice room with a great bathroom, beautiful garden with swimming pool, gorgeous restaurant with view to the Atlantic ocean, close to the beach. The owner lady pays real attention to the guests!
Review 18:I like everything about this accommodation, the staff couldn't do enough to make our stay very special and went over and above to celebrate our anniversary. I would highly highly recommend this accommodation. A little piece of paradise on a wonderful island, will definitely return. Thanks for making our silver wedding a magical experience
Review 19:Don't recommend driving take the bus, train or taxi in. Hard to find parking.
Review 20:Great location & friendly staff. Room was super nice & large.
Review 21:Nothing...
Review 22:Great location, nice overlook of the sea (only from the suite that we had), stylish interior, very helpful staff. Restaurant serves great food. The owner picked us up at the airport even though we arrived at 11pm in the evening. Porto Santo and Velho Dragoiero is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday.
Review 23:Excellent small boutique hotel.Very friendly owners and staff.Superb location.Excellent restaurant although portions are rather large.Suite has views over the beach and sea.
Review 24:Internet was unstable in the rooms so I had to connect in the lobby. That is not a major problem since we spend all day outside. It's easy to fix with an extra router. :)
Review 25:Staff is really helpful and polite. Facilities are new and clean. Nice swimming pool in the garden. We felt welcome and like home. On the last day, we checked out late in the evening right before we take the boat. Overall, place and people is excellent. i would definitely go there again on my next visit to porto santo.
Review 27:The owners, Maria Helena and Bob, they make you feel like home starting with the welcome drink and late check out and finishing with a lift to the Madeira ferry. The room was clean, cozy and well designed. The restaurant serves the most delicious food on the island.
Review 28:A peaceful place with gorgeous view and tasty meals. The breakfast was even better then in the best hotels. You won't miss a thing and want to stay longer!
Review 29:Nothing!
Review 30:This was the most tasteful hotel room I've ever been to. I would say a work of art. Also very bright, with windows on two walls and a view over the island (my room was the Suite). Combined with the best restaurant on the island and a personal touch from the owners couple, I loved the place so much. Cat lovers get a bonus)
Review 31:There is nothing I would complain, just two small suggestions .When guests have welcome fruit basket, i would put a knife nearby, easy tyo peel oranges and cut passion fruits. If there would be fresh squeezed range added to breakfast ,it would be just making casa,s breakfast super!!!
Review 32:Loved every minute I spend at Casa Velho Dragoeiro.Starting from welcoming which was very nice and absolutely Michelin star dinner of seafood cooked by Maryelena.Place is well decorated and designed with excellent taste.View from terrace is magical. Place to return again and bring friends!
Review 33:The room is smaller than we expected, but it has all that'snecessary - a fridge, a wardrobe, a table. A big mirror is the onlything missing.
Review 34:This small hotel is a home away from home: the room is perfectly clean, the bed is comfortable, the bathroom is cosy and the bath towels arelarge. The owner really cares - about her guests first of all and aboutthe place. The meals at the restaurant are delicious.
Review 35:Bed was a little hard BUT that is only our personal preference.
Review 36:The location was superb, staff excellent very friendly and helpful. Owner lovely lady, outstanding artist and wonderful company. Food excellent. Well stocked fridge with drinks. Lovely garden to sit in by the swimming pool. Wonderful welcome with a complimentary drink and snack. Phillipe is lovely.
Review 37:Maria Helena was a wonderful host and cared for us as though we were personal friends. At the end of the five days I felt we were. The restaurant has food of the highest quality and chef was able to cater for my individual needs as a gluten free vegetarian.
Review 38:We liked everything, and the cocks did not disturb us in the morning.
Review 39:This B&B has only three rooms, which will give you a feeling of being in a guesthouse. Very warm welcome by all staff, specially by the owner! Welcome drink upon arrival. The location could not be better, right at the center of Porto Santo village, and 5 mins walking distance to supermarket and the beach! Rooms are confy enough, with spotless cleaning. Wifi is excelent. The restaurant is magnificent, one of the best of the island. The swimming pool is great and relaxing. Breakfast is good, made with fresh products from the property (awesome organic eggs). Considering standard prices in Porto Santo, this might be the best quality/cost ratio in the island.
Review 40:The cocks in the adjacent terrain start making noise pretty early. If you're an early waker then you'll be fine.
Review 41:The location is charming. The food at the restaurant is very good. The breakfast offers a lot of variety. The owner and the staff were super nice and very accessible. The cleaning lady was simply adorable, always accessible and attentive to our needs.
Review 42:The best hospitality ever. The owner and the staff made us feel very welcomed. They went their way to make our stay unforgettable.
Review 43:Fabulous food, fine location great boutique hotel
Review 44:The staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Service to guests was above average.
Review 45:Location, food quality and friendly staff
Review 46:Breakfast simple but wonderful. Free bike hire brilliant. Welcome drinks and nibbles brilliant
Review 47:The weather!
Review 48:The staff was so friendly and helpful. Roberto, the waiter, went out of his way to welcome us.
Review 49:Very friendly staff, from the welcome drink to the free late check out because our flight wasn't until the evening. Very good meal, too!
Review 50:No negative comments
Review 51:Hotel was spacious, exceptionally clean and had a stunning view.
Review 52:It is a place for having dream holdiays
Review 53:nothing
Review 54:fantastic wellcome from the owner, very good typical local food at the restaurant, beautiful view of the sea from the suite room Worth going there again
Review 55:This is definitely one of the most lovely places we ever stayed at. The whole property is very well kept and offers a perfect atmosphere to feel well and relax, including a swimming pool and a sun deck. The rooms are very tastefully decorated. Our room had two french balconies facing the ocean offering a stunning view. From the very comfortable bed we could watch the sea. The room also had a little kitchen, the bathroom was spacious and very clean. The location of the hotel is perfect. It is absolutely quiet, but just 5 walking minutes to the beach as well as to the market square. Breakfast was excellent: Bacon, eggs, sausages, cereals, bread, croissants, fresh fruit, cakes, cheese and much, much more. Coffee, cappuccino, tea, juices…. We had two times dinner at the restaurant, and each time the food was excellent. (PS: Try the "Banana Flambee" !). When we arrived in Porto Santo, we were picked up at the ferry, and we were also brought back when we left the island. During our three days visit we could use the owner’s bicycles at no cost. However, most remarkable is the warmth and hospitality of the owner and her whole service team. This is truly exceptional, and makes this place a little paradise on earth. Thanks for everything!
Review 56:We have never stayed at a hotel like this before. Absolutely the best - ever. The rooms very tasteful decorated, good view from terrace. All in the staff fantastic service minded. Very good food in the restaurant at very reasonable prices. Breakfast more than excellant. Highly recommended.
Review 57:Lovely place to stay - clean, comfortable and so very welcoming. The suite is spacious with great views and Marylena the owner will help you get the most from your stay. Breakfast a real treat with fresh fruit, home baked bread and perfect scrambled eggs and crispy bacon with grilled tomatoes and sausage. Location great for all Porto Santo has to offer. Stay here and you will not be disappointed!
Review 58:A wonderfull place to rest, the suite has a great view, breakfast is just great and the owners are very lovely and help to get great taxi drivers or lend you bikes ...and make your stay a perfect time
Review 59:Saturday night was the only noisy night from three bar below.
Review 60:Very friendly staff and owner Looked after us exceptionally well Meals of high standard and excellent value. Would recommend to friends and family that wanted a quiet and relaxing holiday, lovely island and small town.
Review 61:This is a Boutique hotel with 3 Rooms. The rooms are comfortable and Lovely. One room is a suite overlooking the Sea. There is a fabulous restaurant and the Owner, Lena, took care of us. We occupied all 3 rooms at the Hotel. Lena is an Excellent Host. She pays attaention to the most little details and takes care of her guest as if they are family. We will absolutely come back. We are looking forward to it. There is a very nice Pool in the back. The place is New and in Prestine condition. Anyone would be very Lucky to be able to get in and stay.
Review 62:Everything! A superb, small hotel with just 3 rooms with a lovely restaurant and bar and enthusiastic management. The friendly owners and staff made us so welcome and comfortable. A very special place to stay on Porto Santo close to the wonderful beach and facilities of the quiet town [we stayed 5 nights in November and had lovely weather and the beach virtually to ourselves].
Review 63:Place is very nice with amazing staff, good food and good location, and owners Lena and Bob are really great. Its really place to relax and enjoy holidays on see side.
Review 64:Breakfast should be little bit earlier.
Review 65:Very friendly hosts - they did everything to make our holidays unforgettable.Nice, well designed rooms, great wiew. Great breakfast.
Review 66:no internet in the room while price for room is high, stairs-no lift which is uncomfortable when you are with kids, no discount for the restaurant poor door in the bathroom- not possible to close it and if you are with small kid it is not comfortable
Review 67:garden with passion fruits and bananas, figs growing, view over Portto Santo,location-beach and town center is very close, staff like family, helpful and so kind staff (especially the owners and people from kitchen- Laura and women from breakfast :-) Food in the restaurant is good but nothing special. Breakfast are good, but boring after a few days, the best of it is fresh passion fruit you can borrow bike from the owners and travel through the island- really nice;-)
Review 68:Pool and garden smaller than photos make think, but beach really close. Staff need to be a bit more client-oriented. Breakfast ok, could be better. Might be a bit overpriced with such services.
Review 69:Nice new hotel, new furnitures, design. It's been recently open, staff needs a bit of experience. EXcellent dinner at restaurant. Very good location in Porto Santo.
Review 70:Breakfast is not served before 09:30 although the owner promised us twice to start at 08:30. There is not much choice and the breakfast depends very much on who of the employees does it - one day everything is there and breakfast is very enjoyable, the other day you will be left alone with 6 pieces of cheese for 4 people and without a drop of coffee or tea. Our pick-up from the port upon arrival did not work - so in the end we took the bus and carried our bags through the whole village, asking our way to the hotel. The owner´s cocks (six of them in the porch) are nice to look at - but they start crying before six in the morning and go on without interruption, very close to your window ... so what do you do between 6 and 9.30? Impossible to sleep and no breakfast. Maybe some people will have problems with the stairs - quite a lot of them from the street up to the rooms.
Review 71:The Hotel is a little paradise, situated near the center of the small village of Vila Baleira (Porto Santo). The garden is small, but very nicely kept with all sorts of tropical fruits growing around the swimming pool. There is a nice view of the sea from the terrace. The beach is about 10 minutes walk away. Breakfast is high quality. Our room (garden view) was tastfully decorated, new and clean. You can have bikes for the day for free! Transport to the airport is free too. Wifi is working well in the room and again its free.
Review 72:No airconditioning in the room. Despite the rooms being spotlessly clean, I still find the rooms slightly overpriced to Portuguese standards.
Review 73:Extremely friendly staff, rooms are spotlessly clean, great secluded pool area, nice location close to the city center. It all looks slightly disorganised but really, that's part of its charm. The true winner here is the food: had three meals there and all were nothing less than mouthwatering. Even if you don't stay here, you should at least go for lunch or dinner
Review 74:Destinatinice for a few days holiday (beautiful beach and interisting coast). Unfortunately, Porto Santo island suffers of too many buildings, grown up with no special care of the surrounding natural territory. The result of such massive human modifications of the landscape is sometimes quite unpleasant.
Review 75:The hotel is very nice and clean, with a great care for the details which make your stay comfortable and pleasant. Employees are kind and professional. It's near to the beach and to the town centre. The restaurant too is very good, surely the best we tried in our four days vacation in Porto Santo.
Review 76:Great locationto city center and beach. Amazing beach / ocean views from the terrace and rooms. 3 bedrooms very well decorated, with great taste (modern minimalist). The breakfeasts are great, fresh orange juicy (amazing!), fruits, scrambled eggs and bacon, and I'm sure anything else you might want if they can get it. The staff is very friendly and familial and will make everything possible for your visit to be the best possible. They were kind enough to borrow us their bycicles (for free!) and, since the room had no reservation on the next day (last day), allowed us to stay longer in the afternoon (very appreciated in a tropical beach, where the boat to Funchal leaves at 7PM). There is a nice salt walter swimming pool, in a very beautiful garden.
Review 77:The things we liked most: its location near to city centre and near to the main supermarket, the short distance to the beach and the panoramic view from the terrace and rooms of the residence. The hotel is very clean and the fresh feeling is everywhere. We loved its minimalist modern design (furniture and colours), the private swimming pool, very surprising for us, with ocean's water and the warm sunset you get there. Hotel's staff is very friendly and familial, always ready to serve and help you. It was awesome to see them every time smiling to us. Breakfasts were delicious. We enjoyed the variety of fruits and especially the best orange juice we've ever tried! The owners made us feel like at home with their kindness and well known warm ''Portuguese'' attitude. For sure all these things were a part of the magic we lived in our Porto Santo holiday!!!
Review 78:We had the pleasant surprise to be welcomed at the airport by Lena, the hostess, a fantastic woman who will make your stay as good as possible. There is only 3 rooms, but then, your stay at this residence will make you feel like you are family! The location is just great, close to downtown and the beach. The rooms are designed and decorated with great taste, the view from our room was terrific, a pool in a charming garden was just outside our room. They have a restaurant and bar downstairs with very good food and great mojitos! Employees are very kind. I could have soup made from fresh vegetables especially for my 1 year old baby (on the house). Breakfast is high quality. The place has opened only 2 months ago but you'll find nothing like it on the Island! Enjoy! :)
Review 79:This is a beatiful piece of the paradise with one great woman. Thahk you.
Review 80:Nice, friendly and helpful staff Great design and atmosphere Perfect location Original gastronomy Good value for money
