Reviews for De Dames Van De Jonge Hotel Restaurant
Review 1:Nice atmosphere, staff and room outside the main building was very romantic if you don't mind the open bathroom. Best for married couples or couples with long relationships
Review 2:Everything is good except the distance to Giethoorn village. It takes about 40-50minutes that we walk from the hotel to the village. You know the distance will be too long for the travelers after you look around all or half day in the village.
Review 3:Nice hotel with good foods, especially some the foods are organic.Good location just near the bus stop named Hotel Harmonie.Renting a bike to the village will be better.
Review 4:As we stayed in a farm house, the toilet are not in the room, although it is not shared bathroom, I still thought that is a bit wired.
Review 5:They offered us a farm house for 6 people.
Review 6:It was a bit of a hike to get to the main area.
Review 7:We went with another couple and were given a 'cottage' that had 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a living area and kitchenette.
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:This is my 2nd time to stay in this lovely hotel. It is a very nice, comfort and clean hotel with excellent service, especially Ms. Roelien. Their food is so delicious with reasonable price. I strongly recommend to all visitors who would stay in Giethorn.
Review 10:nice personnel and location; newly renovated room and bathroom, both very modern thus interesting and inspiring; from our room we could go out to the terrace which is build directly at / on the river; incredibly comfortable bed! as well as the bedlinen
Review 11:not helpful staff, most consumables are cheap and looks like the hotel is trying also to contain their consumation.
Review 12:nice room with small patio, parking
Review 13:When we stayed there, the new rooms in the back were not finished yet, so we actually saw the handymen walking on our terasse all the time, since the room was directly visible and accessable through the terasse, it bothered us a little. But the hotel staff said they should be finished soon.
Review 14:Had a wonderful time there, the staff was very friendly and helpful, upon arrival, they spent time explaining us things to visit around and answered all our questions patienly while we enjoyed our welcoming drinks. when we left, i accidently left my hairdryer there, and they were very kind to mail it back to me for free! The best hotel in Giethoorn!!!
Review 15:The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location was right on one of the canals and very scenic. The restaurant in the hotel was very good.
Review 16:The arrangement of the bathroom was very odd (the sliding doors and separation of the toilet seat from the sink was not functional at all). There wasnt any area to hang our clothes like a closet with hangers or hooks for the towels in the bathroom. Buuuuut in the hotel's defense, they did mention that the rooms were recently renovated and the final touches arent compeleted yet (like the shower curtains and the deck)
Review 17:We looooooved the owner, she was extremely welcoming, kind, warm, and friendly, which is what made our stay feel as though we were at home. The location was great! It was northern giethorn which is a very pieceful and quiet area yet only 10 mins away by bicycle to the town area. The dinner was amazing and the service is great!! Staff were so welcoming and friendly as well as informative. The rooms were so clean and modern and had a great deck!! It was also very cozy and comfortable!
Review 18:We had a canal room but couldn't open the doors to the deck because they said they lost the key. Consequently we didn't have any windows or doors to open in the room. The rooms are the size of an IBIS hotel. Overpriced for what you get.
Review 19:location
Review 20:The location of the hotel is very convenient if you are going there by public transportation. The food that its restaurant offers is very nice and is really worth recommending. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
Review 21:I booked and paid for 2 nights. Finally we decided to stay one night as it does not make us feel too comfortable since we check in. Don't feel at home at all. On 28 April when we check in, the male staff was quite "cold". Not so helpful. I asked twice does he knows the schedule of the bus. He told me to check it from the bus stop. The hotel can simply make a copy and paste at the reception. He told me all the rooms were full and gave us a room which is besides reception, kitchen and restaurant. Room seems quite old.
Review 22:On 29 April, the lady who served breakfast was very nice and kind. She deserves good compliments. This apparently changed my opinion of the staffs. The lady boss is also nice and helpful.
Review 23:The wifi connection is not very good. Besides the food price is a bit too high and the service speed is slow (probably because the restaurant is understaffed).
Review 24:The staff are very nice and warm. When I accidentally lost my key to my room when I was cycling and couldn't find it, I told the staff and they didn't charge me for the key instead they told me not to worry. The room is very special: I slept in a box and I had my own little garden! Breakfast is quite abundant.
Review 25:Poor WiFi connectivity. Shower design very poor...water was everywhere.
Review 26:Food was very good and served well. Close proximity to the canal area of Giethoorn. Staff was very helpful and always ready to help.
Review 27:Nil (As a reminder, since there's service fee charged for using credit card for payment - though borne by the hotel, it's preferred to use cash/debit card to settle the bill.)
Review 28:-Good location -Beautiful view -Friendly staff -Great food -Excellent value for money
Review 29:After we arrive the train station ,there's no bus, and then they drive us to the hotel, ask if we need any coffe or tea or something to eat, that was very sweet.
Review 30:I didn't like where they assigned my room It was on the first floor and too noisy. People kept passing and it was bothersome
Review 31:I liked the staff attitude , cleaneness
Review 32:The night shift manager gave us a very warm welcome reception. After great dinner at hotel, she gave us a upgrade room, where next to National park. What a great view of the room......
Review 33:Somehow the staff only offered us a set menu served with fish/pork, which was not very tasty. Not recommended.
Review 34:fantastic breakfast and newly upgraded room.
Review 35:The staffs are really nice and welcome. Good location, there is a bus stop number 70 in front of the hotel. It is convenient that they offer the bike rental that you can go to Giethoorn by bike. Really nice food in restaurant and a lot of choice for breakfast. I will recommend my friends to stay here.
Review 36:We were having problem purchasing the train tickets using our credit card and Madam Roelie , the host helped us. She even sent us to the station. Million thanks to her!
Review 37:Everything! A totally magical experience with fantastic owners, staff and scenic surroundings. Greeted with a welcomed warmth and top quality service. The chef was phenomenal we ate everyday including in our room. The restaurant is lovely and the staff of De Dames Van De Jonge made our trip very special. We will return to this venue again and highly recommend.
Review 38:The room (#10) is too noisy as it's right next to the restaurant and the reception desk. Shower without a curtain makes a mess.
Review 39:Decent restaurant for breakfast and dinner.
Review 40:Nothing!
Review 41:This hotel is very good. Nice room, beautiful view, close to giethorn and bus stop. To us, it is the best one we ever been. Ms.Van De Jonge is very kind and generous. I would remember her help to us and I'd like to say again: Thank you very much!
Review 42:Would have appreciated a little more attention to keeping the breakfast item trays full, but loved everything else!
Review 43:When my husband and I arrived, we were met with a warm handshake and an escort to a table on the welcoming terrace for a cup of tea, coffee or glass of wine. When we remarked that this was not typical for our usual hotel check in experience, the lovely owner smiled and replied, "No we're not typical because we love our jobs! " Her warmth and friendliness as well as that of the other staff members set the perfect pleasant tone for our weekend in Giethoorn.
Review 44:The room, although funny to deal with, wasn't really...practical. The bed was too high and the space available in the room too narrow. There was just a [very] little space to hang the clothes.
Review 45:The room was a surprise. Just imagine sleeping inside a closed box...with the option of turning on colourful lights changing in random order and varying speeds...Wow!... Was not expecting that... The bathroon had no door (which was a little bit odd), and the robes were magnificently soft. The food is mainly organic, and high quality.
Review 46:The shower place has many insects that I felt not good.
Review 47:Kind staff, comfortable environment, delicious dishes and authentic Dutch house, service of renting bikes.
Review 48:The toilet light comes on automatically and is really bright. This was a little undesirable in the middle of the night as it wakes you up.
Review 49:Staying at this hotel was such an lovely and relaxing experience. We enjoyed complementary drinks on arrival and stayed in a canal room in a newly built section of the hotel. It was a beautiful room with a private seating area outside next to the canal. The room has an open planned design which had large glass sliding doors which takes full advantage of the view. Dinner at the restaurant was enjoyable. The staff were all very friendly and made you feel very welcome. The hotel is close to the canals of Giethoorn (hundreds of meters away) and is easily walking or cycling distance. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 50:There are mosquitos in the room so it wasn't easy to sleep well. Hope you can have some tools in the room for protecting from the mosquitos.
Review 51:the house is just near the canal, and the room is historique and traditional Dutch style, which was a great experience. The service is so friendly and the food are also good.
Review 52:They did not accept credit cards. Thankfully we had enough cash on hand. There did not seem to be any banks nearby, so if you are depending on your credit card, beware!
Review 53:We stayed for only one night, but were delighted with our dinner and breakfast. The staff was friendly and the hotel is right next to the historic part of Diethoorn - We could easily walk along the canals and enjoy the lovely gardens.
Review 54:staff is really helpful!!!
Review 55:N.a.
Review 56:Everything was great, especially the bedroom and bathroom. Also had a nice evening meal.
Review 57:Food was included on the price of stay and was really good. Property was close to transportation and to the main sightseeing areas.
Review 58:Excellent food
Review 59:Quit
Review 60:Our room was in front of the restaurant bathrooms. Dinner was limited. Old maxi pads in the bathroom. No AC!
Review 61:Breakfast and the staff were nice.
Review 62:it's easy to walk to center or rent a bike, and convenient to catch the bus to train station
Review 63:Bathroom
Review 64:Location, restaurant
Review 65:the bed not comfort
Review 66:lovely place, excellent food , very kind staff.
Review 67:None
Review 68:The authentic Dutch farmhouse and the fairytale ambience of Giethoorn
Review 69:The toilet was being shared by other guests.
Review 70:The farmhouse with beautiful antiques and quality bed.
Review 71:The breakfast of this hotel was the best. The employees are so kind.
Review 72:The room is too small
Review 73:Breakfast and Staff
Review 74:Nice and cozy place. Excellent service. Good food. Reasonable price.
Review 75:Good location Tasty food Friendly service
Review 76:The size of the rooms are too small .. watch for mosquitoes
Review 77:Everything was realy good, especialy dinner in the hotel's restaurant
Review 78:The bathroom
Review 79:The location
Review 80:Rooms very small and it was upstairs which make unconfortable for baggage lifting
Review 81:Staff very friendly and supporting beside their dinner was excellent
Review 82:meals a bit expensive but very nice
Review 83:Good service and environment.Easy to find and location is close the bus station. One staff can speak mandarin which is very helpful.
Review 84:their boss
Review 85:The room was a little bit small but not a big deal.
Review 86:The staff was extremely friendly. A warmth welcome after a rainy ride on motorbike. The location is perfect for visiting Giethorn. I highly recommend dinning there and having the menu of the day it was home made and delicious.
Review 87:It is overpriced for what you get. The hotel is on the edge of the old part of Giethoorn, so there are no nearby restaurants or cafes. The room is very small and oddly designed. Access was via a narrow spiral staircase and we were not offered assistance to carry our bags up. When I asked for flyspray so that I could kill the ones that were annoying us in our room, I was flatly told 'We do not have flies, so they could not help me'! Did they think I was just making it up? There were also flies in the dining room, so they must know they get in.
Review 88:The evening meal was fabulous, the best vegan meal I had in a long time. The hotel is close to the bus stop so it is convenient to reach by public transport.
Review 89:There were birds breeding under the roof and kept us awake. The staf told us they have this problem more often, so we recommend a hotel where you can sleep during the night. Small room for the price.
Review 90:Friendly staff, Welcome drinks, breakfast.
Review 91:The bathroom was connected to the room in a different way. It would of been very romantic for 2 people, but with my mother traveling with us and our baby it was a little weird.
Review 92:The staff was great! We had a late check in and an early check out and they were fine with it. We left before breakfast was being served and an employee gave us breakfast the night before for the next morning. He gave us multiple cheese sandwiches, lots of strawberries, chocolate, waffles, water, orange juice and more. It was a great location, and it looks over at a canal.
Review 93:Wonderful hotel in a wonderful place. They arranged us a traditional farmhouse, which was indeed an great experience. Besides, they are so kindly: we lost one bag when checking out and they drove to the train station to give the bag to us... so kindly. Thanks
Review 94:It wasn't clear in the description that the location was 6 km from the city center. Also, the location of the sockets wasn't good (one at the door that won't let you open the door, the other below the bed. No place to connect the water heater). Also it is very very noisy.
Review 95:The place itself is very nice
Review 96:The farm house is far away to the center, better to go into the center by driving.
Review 97:Traditional farm house with historical decoration .The owner is very friendly but the staff can be improved more.
Review 98:There was so much noise when we were in our room. It didn't help that the room we got was situated right next to the toilets and the main entrance.
Review 99:The location was excellent. The staff was helpful and nice and the room was clean.
Review 100:Room is very small, not as described in Booking.com 16m2. Bed is also small for 2 persons.
Review 101:nice environment in the villiage. Simple breakfast provided.
Review 102:The rooms are quite small and you can hear everything. You can hear your neighbors and they can hear you.
Review 103:The staff were wonderful - very friendly and helpful. We never had to wait long for anything. We even got a complimentary champagne breakfast in the morning!
Review 104:Size of room could be a little bigger, easier to move around.
Review 105:The room given came with traditional dutch style bed and the beauty of its setting yet given total modern bathroom, which had given high standard of comfort.
Review 106:too basic bathroom (stange toilet, limited supply of hot water, no storage, no hanging for towels, shower water running into the room), limited heating in the room
Review 107:Location right by the water, quiet, friendly staff, restaurant ok (as well as breakfast)
Review 108:The stay there was really a fantastic one. We are a group of five persons, then the arrange a traditional farm house to us. It is a charming house with many old and traditional decorations, which made you back to 100 years before. Mme De Jonge and her family were so hospitality. When we finish the dinner at the hotel restaurant, it was raining, Mme De Jonge drive us to the house herself. When one of us feel uncomfortable and cannot go to have the breakfast, Mme De Jonge packed the breakfast to her. The only disappointment is, we just stay there for one night! I hope I can bring my family and friends to the hotel next time! Highly recommend!
Review 109:Nothing comes to mind
Review 110:The staff/owners were very nice, and went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable. I liked the traditional style of the bedroom, which had small touches of modernity: dimmer switches for the lights, for example, and new bathroom fittings.
Review 111:We were greeted with coffee and a delectable homemade cake. Cozy rooms close to the quaint village of Giethoorn. Fabulous dinner (we loved the paprika soup!) and nice breakfast as well. Staff is very attentive. Perfect spot for weekend getaway. Many beautiful villages in this area!
Review 112:The shower is not partitioned off from the toilet and basin, so the whole bathroom gets quite wet when you shower. The toilet did not flush so well, but we reported it, and hopefully it will be fixed.
Review 113:We had a lovely room on a river. The hotel is in beautiful surroundings. It is clean and neat and the food is delicious. It was the best meal and breakfast that we ate out of all the hotels we stayed at on our trip.
Review 114:The kettle in the parlor was a little dirty and the breakfast bread was mildew
Review 115:Hosteler very friendly and helpful. The room very big. Location very good, just near bus stop. Bicycle hire available. Environment is very beautiful. Home made cake delicious.
Review 116:I hope there is a door for the bathroom and toilet because it lacks privacy. Also, the hotel is quite far away form the tourist center, which takes more than 45 mins walk (taking bus is quite expensive).
Review 117:The staff members are all very friendly and patient, always carrying a smile. The room design is unique and great, and the beds are very comfortable.
Review 118:It was a proper hotel with a nice bathroom, but no bath gel provided. NoWifi either although the ad says it's available in all areas. Nodiscount can be offered for that on my request.
Review 119:Friendly owner and staff, nice decor, very comfortable room and goodfood. The barn house was gorgeous!
Review 120:I was travelling with my colleague and we had booked two rooms. They put us in a kind of container - or summer cottage, but in facts it was a container - with a kitchen between our rooms. Als they were not able to type and print out an standard invoice and wrote a receipt by hand. NOT SUITABLE FOR BUSINESS TRAVELLERS
Review 121:Generally we had a good time there. We slept in economy room number 13. There is no door between the toilet and the bedroom. It was OK for us, but may not suit all. The bed was very unusual. It is a traditional Dutch wooden box bed. This mean that the mattress is somewhat high above the floor. My wife is 1.67 meters high, and it was a little too high for her. Also, it was a hot June day, and there was no air condition. I guess most of the Dutch are not prepared for such hot days...
Review 122:The staff were very nice and eager to help. The nature around was amazing, with sheep eating grass just outside, and swans swimming in the near small tunnel. The included breakfast was nice.
Review 123:Only small problem - it is a bit far from Giethoorn central. It took us20 minutes cycling there. Walking there would not be a good choice.
Review 124:(1) The Hotel design was amazingly beautiful, and we really loved the room they gave us, which had a small wood house as the bed.(2) The service was impeccable, the staff helped us carry the luggage and helped us in any way possible. (3) The Dutch breakfast and dinner were the best we have had in Holland. (4) Transport was easy, as the bus stop is right outside the hotel. (5) All facilities are there, they even have bicycles for us to ride to Giethoorn central. I WILL visit this hotel again, and I really recommend this to any travelers to Giethoorn.
