Reviews for Hotel Praiagolfe
Review 1:Air conditioning remote didn't effect the box on the wall. Had to open balcony door to cool room. Breakfast wasn't particularly good.
Review 2:Good sized bed, spacious room, sea view. Staff very helpful.
Review 3:Windows need to be washed regularly or there is no point in a pool (or room) with 'sea view'. Building work during stay understandable - but wish lorry driver was instructed to turn engine off when not driving. Pity that there are two flights of steps to the indoor pool. Gym and pool staff need to focus more on customers needs and less on presence of swim caps etc. Gym staff more concerned with caps than turning on the equipment required to use the facilities ? management input. Language skills generally weak. Before ordering a meal, make sure that your language is understood.
Review 4:Location. Cleaning staff friendly and helpful. Price and upgrade appreciated. Before ordering a meal, make sure that your language is understood.
Review 5:The town it's self is a bit run down but the beach is OK
Review 6:Room was well sized clean and pleasant. the balcony gave a side view onto the sea. The breakfast and evening dinner were good and great value. The inside car park was most usefull and well organised
Review 7:The hotel is quite old and needs to be refreshed. A lot of noise during the night due to the Casino nearby. Parking spots limited.
Review 8:The localisation close to the beach, city center and restaurants are perfect
Review 9:The location is amazing right on the beach front, loads going on from surf competitions, fifa beach world cup, casino next door. The food was amazing and the service from the hotel staff was best ever. Always looked after us and made our stay an amazing experience. We will all be going back that's for sure. The rooms was perfect and clean, the,air conditioning was amazing kept the room cool whilst in 30 degree heat coming back to a chilled room was good. Would recommend a massage very relaxing. Breakfast was very nice and very filling. As a group we couldn't find one thing wrong.
Review 10:I kept asking to the staff for a parking spot for the car and they said they were only depending on availability. They were helpless at offering an alternative. It was very upsetting to find out that the hotel was near a Casino. That increased the number of cars coming and going during the weekend (no hotel customers). Poor accessibility by car. Also, I thought I had read that the hotel offered free WI-FI. That's a lie! Paying Vodafone one. For a 4 stars hotel is quite disappointing!
Review 11:The views of the beach and the Atlantic from the room.
Review 12:I had to pay for WIFI on the room (not necessary during previous visit)
Review 13:Comfortable hotel, spacious rooms, good breakfast, room with great ocean view, free indoor parking garage. Great restaurant just nearby!
Review 14:Nothing really - I would stay there again and can certainly recommend it either for business or pleasure
Review 15:Perfect location Friendly staff Short walk to railway station Two minutes from the beach and restaurants Great sea views Good breakfast
Review 16:Dislike a couple of people outside "helping you to park" for a small fee.The hotel should do something about it.Espinho is a nice and safe place but this makes you uncomfortable
Review 17:Perfect location, sea front and waking distance to shops, restaurants and markets.Easy access to motorway as well
Review 18:breakfast with only "must be" food, nothing else, I expected some vegetables, olives,...too
Review 19:lokation is perfect, close to the sea, close to the town
Review 20:Area has some problems with parking and parking for guests of the hotelis not available (at least not included by default)
Review 21:Location of the hotel Free spa (don't forget to take swimming capwith you) Only 20km away from Porto Nice restaurants near by
Review 22:WiFi only on 1st floor in the bar, very often not possible to connect. No feasible options to connect to Internet from the room. Hard beds.
Review 23:Staff is excellent. Open for every request and willing to help. Dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant were good.
Review 24:The beds were so hard & uncomfortable. The car park was full, when we arrived just after check-in time, couldn't expect to find a space if we moved the car. Surounding café/restaurants were not able to cope with the crowds. We had to wait 30 minutes to give our order and the food was cold or not even what we asked for. Not really a place for a mature couple, it was teaming with small children.
Review 25:The view would be great if the sun was out. Handy for fast food. Helpfull staff who tried their best to satisfy customers, when it was impossible as their wasn't enough space for the amount of customers
Review 26:great position of the hotel, lovely rooms and swimming pool, very friendly and helpful staff, nothing was problem for them, thank you very much for looking after us, we would happily stay for much longer and for sure we will come back
Review 27:To arrive at the hotel after a 3 hour journey and the bar is closed! Ordered a gin & tonic one evening and the trainee barman was too generous with the gin, then they charged for 2 drinks! Brochure shows lovely outdoor pool view, but the pool does not belong to the hotel?
Review 28:The location was good

Review 31:Very well situated. Close to the beach, shops and station. Nice and spacious room.

Review 61:Beds were hard as rock. We could not swim in the pool without a bathing cap - have never heard of such a rule before?!!!
Review 62:Great location right on the beach and right by the bars and restaurants.
Review 63:The hard bed.Not able to have the outside door open because of the noise of the sea at night,--- not the fault of the hotel.
Review 64:the relaxing, warm, and helpful attitude of the staff. They always had a pleasant smile and were willing to talk to you.
Review 65:Would have like tea/coffee making available in bedroom
Review 66:Friendly and efficient check-in and staff Breakfast in room within 10 minutes and at no extra charge (included in rate) View of ocean
Review 67:The hotel is not brand new one
Review 68:The breakfast was very good with a great choise of different foods and drinks The WiFi was very good if you pay for it
Review 69:The place. Espinho is a 1970's seaside resort with nothing to show for itself. We found one restaurant that was half descent as for the rest they were at the best high class snack bars. While the hotel advertised a restaurant it had been closed at the end of August which left us walking round trying to find food. As for the spa! Spa is a big word for something these days that would not be accepted as anything approaching one. The saunas were ancient and like most of the hotel in desperate need of a facelift. Wi-Fi was available free only in the lounge. It was an extra for the rooms. There was no possibility of making tea of coffee in the rooms. It was generally very disappointing. I would not recommend the hotel or the place to anyone.
Review 70:Location in respect to the rail station. Further not much. For us it was a massive disappointment. It was clearly a 1970's hotel which needed a huge facelift. The room was clean and the cleaning staff did a good job. Our booking was wrong and we were given a side room overlooking the swimming pool with twin beds. After protesting we were given the room we ordered; a room overlooking the sea with a king size bed. Breakfast was more than adequate. We were unfortunate with the weather. We came and left in 30C but in between it was cold so no beach visits. Due to the location we could easily take the train to various surrounding towns some of which were very nice with decent restaurants. One plus point but that has to do more with the economic crisis are the prices which were very low to ridiculously low.
Review 71:The description of the hotels services on booking.com are incorrect. This hotel does not offer a shuttle service, they will order you a taxi to your choice of destination. There is a seperate sauna for men and women as we booked a romantic package this vital information should have been relayed. The chocolate and sparkling wine were not in the room upon arrival ( we requested and they brought them up later) and although the picture shows rose petals and robes on the bed none were provided as part of the romantic package. The hotel does not provide an iron or ironing board upon request, they did point out they provide laundry services but these services do not operate on the weekend so if you were away for a dirty weekend like we were it was literally creased and dirty. The bed only had two pillows (we requested more) & was rock hard there was no bounce and both of us woke with pains all over our bodies. The restaurant is pricey and the food was cold apart from the soup which was piping hot. Full Breakfast was also expensive and cold and come to think of it so was the Pizza we ordered from room service, however the portions were quite large if only they were hot. All in all was ok to stay for two nights but would have felt really hard done by if we booked for a week.
Review 72:Staff were helpful and did assist where necessary promptly and without attitude. Loved the room with the glass wall in the bathroom. It is in the close vicinity of the beach restaurants and shops
Review 73:The photos on the website are not a true reflection, rooms are darker and not as modern but it was clean and perfectly located to the Oporto golf club and the beach
Review 74:Booked a room for 3 adults thinking I could ask for a cot bed for my 6 year old, but no space so they upgraded us. Right next to the beach and 5 mins from Oporto club(perfect for my 11 year old playing the nationals). Walked to all the restaurants(Portuguese, sushi, chicken, pizza etc) Great café beach front of the hotel(recommend pregos, waffles, etc) Right next to a brilliant munciple pool and the hotels indoor pool was great for staying out the sun and cooling off.
Review 75:The hotel was an older type european property. It was clean, friendly, but no extras. Parking was a problem on the Saturday. Very busylocation. We expected more comfort in the rooms...for a four star.
Review 76:Could do with some remodernising.
Review 77:Location is great, right on the beach, also parking available which means dont have to deal with "parking guys". They gave us an upgrade to a seaview room.
Review 78:1) Very noisy in the night- drunk people were making noisy and reception people did nothing. 2) When i pay my invoice, very unfriendly 3)When i told it was noisy in the night, the woman in the reception told me "total 70 euros" did not care of my comments
Review 79:This is a 4 star hotel, so I kinda expected - a bed that is not as hard as a plank - a safe - an ironing board which unfortunately was not the case. Also, the internet (a Vodafone service) did not work on my pc or phone (login-screen did not appear). Only internet I could use was the free Wifi of the hotel in the lobby and the bar, which was very instable. Pretty useless hotel for a business traveller in other words, but friendly staff and room rates (at least in February) make it worth considering.
Review 80:Friendly and helpful staff, pretty good in speaking English too.
Review 81:nothing
Review 82:We got a free upgrade. Location is very good. Very good value for money-hotel.
Review 83:Parking, needs a bit of an update... But well maintained and clean.
Review 84:Location, Spa, STAFF
Review 85:parking was not obvious, it could be better sign posted.
Review 86:very friendly staff, nice breakfast, good room.
Review 87:Room decor outdated for a 4 star hotel.. No amenities in the bathroom
Review 88:The staff very friendly.. Good clean rooms
Review 89:Free Wifi only at the restaurant lobby.
Review 90:Excellent location.
Review 91:non modernised rooms and areas
Review 92:updated rooms
Review 93:no wi fi in the rooms
Review 94:near the sea side swimming pool at the center value for money
Review 95:two unacceptable rooms one full of smoke other bathroom fault poor restaurant menu
Review 96:good buffet breakfast
Review 97:Closeness to the beach.
Review 98:They dont have WIFI on the rooms only on public area
Review 99:location ; nice staff
Review 100:Parking is not opening automatically.
