Reviews for Best Western - Freeport Inn

Review 1:badly in need of paint in br and room trim stark grey and white colors seemed austere minifridge with snacks would have been nice

Review 2:nice reception staff and cookies nice coffee machine comfy bed and pillows

Review 3:I liked the parking arrangement for the second and third floors. You entered at that level and didn't have to climb a lot of stairs. The location was also quiet.

Review 4:I told them when we checked in that we would pay cash for the room. They said we could when we checked out the next day. Well when we went to check out, they had already processed the room on my card. The wrong thing to do as we did not have any charges and I did not authorize them to do that after we told them the day before we would pay cash. I also paid 5 dollars for a room with a view of trees really. not worth it. There is no microwave in the room either just a frig and coffee maker. We were also in another location too about 1/4 down the road.

Review 5:the location.

Review 6:Noisy...heard a dog barking in the hall, and people above us. Didn't like having a window at headlight height. Seemed expensive.

Review 7:Close to Freeport.

Review 8:Did not care for the stark contemporary room decor, it did not match with the looks of the exterior. Prefer to have a carpeted room.

Review 9:Nice clean and great staff

Review 10:An off site location behind the Muddy Rudder. The building needed repair. Only window was a sliding door without a screen. The room was stinky. The furnishings were old, linen smelled like cigarette smoke. The staff made disparaging remarks about "Booking.com". However, they didn't charge us for the room, since we looked at it first, and immediately decided we couldn't stay there. I think they give the worst rooms to people who use online booking sites.

Review 11:Nothing.

Review 12:We arrived for a 3 PM check in at 3:30 and was told our room was not ready, but that they would call us as soon as it was ready. After driving all day, we opted to wait at the hotel and walk around the ground. By 4:45 we still had not been called. My husband called the desk and was told, yes, the room was ready, but that they had been "busy at the desk" and had not had time to call us. I have stayed her at least a dozen times in the past 10 years, and have never had an experience like this before.

Review 13:Loved the new décor of the guest rooms.

Review 14:Ice machine not working when we first arrived, unable to obtain ice. Returned after dinner to find the 2nd and 3rd Room parking lots full , difficult to find parking !

Review 15:Location excellent between Freeport and Portland, Rooms updated, Free Wi Fi, Beds comfortable, Frig. and Micro., Clean and Comfortable!

Review 16:Carpets need updating, comforter was very heavy would have preferred a blanket. No Electrical outlets in the bathroom? Every night we had to kill mosquito's

Review 17:The Restaurant on site for Breakfast and the Muddy Rudder.

Review 18:The accommodations were clean, adequate and convenient to where I needed to be for the weekend. A good value for the money outside of Freeport, close to Winslow park.

Review 19:When we arrived the front desk person was not nice or helpful. We came back later and the new ooerson was nice however our room had a broken lock and a broken refrigerator. The room was dated and not very clean. It said it had a river view but could only see trees.

Review 20:The second room they gave us was nice.

Review 21:Room needed updating. Bath door would not open in all the way "hit toilet", mold in bathroom , corners of wall/floor no good. Water damage. carpet in pet friendly room was always damp room 104... A/c would not run in a set temp of 72. Had to be 65 or lower. To cold for night set. But needed to use cause room became to warm and carpet damp. Would recommend , tile floor for pet friendly rooms. "I crate my pet at night. carpet is hard to maintain. Just affordable. platground need tlc , wood damage needs repair... Bench also .

Review 22:Pet friendly , staff was very nice , grounds very clean , location perfect for us. Family lives in Freeport. Frequent visitors . Twice a year! Lighting and parking perfect for guest of all hours.

Review 23:Water on the floor from the air conditioner. Room had a funny odour. The fridge was not cleaned up before we arrived and we had someone else's food in our fridge.

Review 24:The pool was nice and the property was set on a large parcel of land.

Review 25:Had to drive from one building to the other to use the pool. Also paid an extra $30 so if we had to cancel we could and get our money back, was never told we would be charged this fee daily.

Review 26:The pool was nice

Review 27:Upon checking out, I told the girl that the flooring in our room was not even. There was (I would say) a 1/2 drop from one level of tile to the next causing me to stumble, Not good for a person with back problems. The door where we entered and exited the building was very dirty.

Review 28:It was conveniently located to shopping and visiting friends and easy to get to.

Review 29:Room was not ready when promised due to "late check outs". Sorry, their problem, not mine and I should not have had to wait 1 1/2 hrs for my room. Other than that, stay was ok.

Review 30:Felt like i was in a basement, should of asked for a higher floor.even though it was a nice rehab, tile floors were to institutional and cold.

Review 31:New rooms, but still under construction

Review 32:The room was moldy and stinky for cleaning solutions. No soap, no shampoo. The corridor was dark. The handle of the window was broken, so was the shower knob.

Review 33:The hotel is split into two properties. The pictures online are all for the main property. But upon check in I was directed to the second property about a quarter mile away. It was clean and located next to a restaurant, but in order to take advantage of guest services like the pool or guest laundry I had to drive to the main property. Also, the cafe located at the main property offered a discount on meals. The one next to me did not.

Review 34:Friendly staff, both front desk and housekeeping. The room was nicely appointed. The wifi slowed down significantly in the evenings.

Review 35:booking .com allowed me to book two rooms with 2 double beds but there were not actually available at the time of booking nor when we checked in. Some of our party had to sleep elsewhere at additional expense. Very disappointed in booking.com

Review 36:The staff did their best to accommodate our party even though booking.com promised us rooms which were not actually available at the time of booking.

Review 37:We were supposed to have a garden view but two big storage containers in the parking lot blocked our view. When the people above us walked around at 11:00 pm and 7 am they sounded like they had 100 pound weights on each foot.

Review 38:We arrived late but told them our flight into Portland didn't arrive until 8. When we got there we were assigned to room 121. We opened the door and it smelled very musty and moldy. The smell really bothered us and I woke up the next morning stopped up with a sore throat. Since we had reservations there for the next night too, the lady at the front desk worked with is and put us in a nice room on the second floor.

Review 39:Good location.

Review 40:The room was just painted and permeated with the smell of latex paint. In addition the floor and shelves were covered in construction dust. When I brought this up to the front desk attendant, I received barely and apologetic confirmation of the ongoing "upgrade plan".

Review 41:the decor was newly renovated. The beds were very comfortable.

Review 42:Booked a Riverside room and was placed in another buiding (not theRiverside). The room had been redecorated but was not finished and notready for someone to stay in. Had alot of difficulty getting into ourroom, keys did not work, door appeared to be broken, took 45 min tofinally get in after visiting the main office 4 times! Staff appearfriendly but don't seem to know what's going on.

Review 43:Location was pretty good, the Muddy Rudder restaurant located on theRiverside end was excellent!

Review 44:When we arrived, there was no available room for us except in the building being renovated. We were traveling with family for a wedding and expected to be close together. After some time they did find a room which was 121. It had an incredible musty smell. So we tried to ignore it. The room would have been OK without the smell. There was no place to sit as a group or congregate as a family. benches etc.

Review 45:The only plus was that we were next to the Muddy Rudder restaurant. We could meet there as a family. The Cafe also had a nice breakfast.

Review 46:The service was very efficient. Bed's were made while we went to breakfast. Everything was clean. I liked that it had a refridgerator and coffee maker.

Review 47:The noise one the floor above us at 1 a m the lack of tissues on the second day of our stay. The pleeling wallpaper and gaps in sheetrock in our room wall. Discoloring grouting in bathroom made things look dirty!!

Review 48:The coffee pot, the bed , the shower and ample parking. TV was nice as well!

Review 49:main building of rooms (as in the photo) was shut for refurbishment had to get in car and drive to breakfast to other side of river. Popular with dogs and owners!!

Review 50:good location

Review 51:Having to go to alternate building rather than main building, which was being renovated. Should have ask for ground floor room as steps were very difficult with luggage.

Review 52:Room had pleasant view of lake.

Review 53:It's basic but we knew that ahead of time. It met our expectations.

Review 54:Since we were there for the area attractions we knew we would not be spending a lot of time at the hotel. So we only wanted a clean, quite, reasonably priced place close to the town. This worked well.

Review 55:The hotel was damp feeling and smelled of wet dog in the hall way. The rooms were dirty and we even found dirty face cloths in the bath tub. The bathroom was very gross and even the fresh coat of paint could not hide the leaks, mold and dirt. The lock on the door did not work properly, the window was frozen shut, and the room was cold and damp. I was very disappointed in this best western as I thought they had a level of standard they were expected to meet. Dogs barked all night.

Review 56:There was no carpet in the room and the beds were new and fairly comfortable.

Review 57:The room heater was loud and woke us up all night long. Once it started pushing some heat it would bang and snap and make an awful racket until it shut down. This occurred every 15 to 20 minutes.

Review 58:There was very little noise from other guests and no noise from the highway.

Review 59:No continental breakfast, a little bit further out from downtown Freeport than I thought, but wasn't bad.

Review 60:Kind staff, clean room, comfortable bed, excellent food at the Cafe next door (best blueberry pancakes I have had in my life)

Review 61:Wifi connection seemed to be weak. Bathroom had a little mold and some of the tile was missing

Review 62:Comfortable bed Convenience of restaurant Ample parking in front of hotel

Review 63:The pictures online on both the booking site and the best wetsrn site made this Best Western look more like a hotel than a motel. Upon arrival, this was merely an overpriced motel stay. Thankfully we only stayed for 1 night. The bedding smelled of cigarette smoke; the bathroom wasn't super clean; there were cobwebs in the corners, along the ceiling, and in the fan. Overall, dissatisfied with the price of these accommodations.

Review 64:Chambermaid was cleaning room before we checked out. We had removed most of our things, this was clearly inappropriate.

Review 65:Nice clean room, desk staff friendly. Diner on property served delicious meal offering discount to motel guests. Good food friendly staff, clean facility.

Review 66:My first impression was at the check-inn office, looks like the big window had not been cleaned in years. We didn't spend much time in the room thankfully. I would not stay there again

Review 67:The internet, being from Canada our 4G roaming is very expensive and we rely heavily on the net for us to figure out where to go, what to eat. But thay isthe only complaint

Review 68:Super clean, water was always hot. Towels and linen were spotless. Bathroom didn't even have like a strand of hair (not that I am picky if there is) friendly staff , good parking, very close to major highway and routes

Review 69:good location close to the main road and to Freeport for shopping. room spacious and clean. we feel so confortable that we ask to stay one more night.

Review 70:Very dirty , outside doors soiled with dirt , carpets on stairs and hallway very dirty , room itself was tolerable but wash up facilities tiny and very uncomfortable to move around . Shears on window, we're actually rotting off lots of tears in them, hmmmm

Review 71:Can't say I liked anything about this place .

Review 72:We booked a river view room...could not see the river thru the trees...but if you ate ast the Muddy Rudder good view

Review 73:Housekeeping staff awesome..pool nice..cafe not as cool as we would have liked..would stay again..convenient

Review 74:After a long day of travel and being stuck in construction right in front of the hotel, we were told that we had to go back in the car, fight the construction again to go to their other building. We are both seniors and were given a room that was not very easily accessible. Had to carry our suitcases down a rather steep stairway which was quite high as well. Not a good impression.

Review 75:It is close to Freeport, the reason we chose this hotel.

Review 76:The internet Wi-Fi was SUPER slow and the TV kept skipping. We had a hard time surfing the internet looking for places to eat and activities to do online. Watching tv was annoying since the TV kept skipping, I heard every other word on the shows I was watching.

Review 77:I like the location of the hotel. It was two minutes from all the shops in Freeport and 20 minutes from Portland. The staff was super nice and friendly and the room was clean.

Review 78:The room was situated in a building down the road from the main building. It meant that since the road was a busy one, we had to drive to get to the swimming pool.

Review 79:The hotel was tired. It is also quite a distance from town. There is nothing about this hotel to make it preferable to the other chains nearer to town

Review 80:Internet was very slow, and had trouble connecting a couple of times. Lost hot water in the shower at one point. Fridge was set on max, and froze our water and drinks. I tried to adjust lower, but it did not seem to work.

Review 81:Staff was very friendly and helpful, room was very clean, and building is far enough from the interstate to dodge most of the road noise.

Review 82:We were not in the main bldg where the pool and restaurant were. I didn't know they had a second location. For this reason we did not use the pool at all. It was also very noisy within the bldg. would not stay there again.

Review 83:Clean

Review 84:See title. Gave an overall impression of the room being dirty. Outdated bathroom. No breakfast included.

Review 85:Friendly, helpful desk staff. Keurig coffee maker in room.

Review 86:Our hotel building was down the road not on the same property as the office and cafe so that was unexpected. Ask before you book which building

Review 87:Clean and comfortable Good location Cafe on property has excellent food and gives 15% discount when you stay at the hotel

Review 88:room smelled moldy and musty, yucky chair in room , gross pillow that I gave to very nice cleaning person, bathroom safety bar not located in a proper or handy place in shower, no shower cap, mattress was soooo uncomfortable

Review 89:location, Muddy Rudder, cafe with % discount, good refrig, coffee maker and TV with great select channels

Review 90:The room was great, very clean, and spacious. The location is just what we needed, and the Muddy Rudder right next door was a very pleasant place to have a drink or dinner.

Review 91:I had pre-booked 3 rooms from booking.com. When we arrived we were told our rooms were not ready. We left and went shopping in Freeport for a couple of hours and can back. The person at the check-in counter told us our rooms would not be ready for 40 minutes. Also people we checking in and getting rooms. I told the person this was unacceptable and wanted our rooms now because of a tight time schedule we ere on. Finally another person helped us with our room. Sound insolation in the room was poor. You could hear people walking around all night long.

Review 92:The place is located in a nice area, and the rooms were fine., but the sound insolation in the room was poor. You could hear people walking around all night long.

Review 93:Low water pressure so much so that the toilet didn't really flush. The shower felt like it would run out of water at any moment. I had also paid extra for a room with a view of the River but we were facing the parking lot and the busy road. When I talked to the people at the front desk about the issue of the view they said they couldn't change what booking.com had set up and so could not refund my extra $10.00. He also didn't really seem to care that I was less then thrilled with the room. I'm used to hotels who really want you to leave happy but this one didn't seem to care if I ever returned or sent others their way. As long as they got all my money for the one night they were happy.

Review 94:They had a Krupps coffee maker.

Review 95:Friendl staff.

Review 96:It was under constructions, which was an inconvenience. This is something that should have been mentioned prior to booking.

Review 97:Great location, clean, helpful staff and very comfortable. Very handy if you are going shopping to Freeport Would definitely go back. Thank you!

Review 98:None

Review 99:It is good place, quiet for working or resting.

Review 100:Noise from other rooms was heard late into night and early in the morning

Review 101:the decor was sophisticated and comfortable

Review 102:Recent toilet replacement failed to plan for door clearance. But of a hassle.

Review 103:Great staff and knowledgeable of the area. Super clean.

Review 104:Not told about pet surcharge in advance. Not enough toiletries.

Review 105:Pet friendly

Review 106:- requested an early check in which was accommodated and really appreciated - short drive to shopping/restaurants

Review 107:We could Here people walking upstairs in the room above us .. Was s little annoying ..

Review 108:Very nice !!

Review 109:Location near Freeport with a great cafe adjacent to property ... Nice view of water, friendly staff modern rooms and great chocolate chip cookies!

Review 110:No elevator to 3rd floor Parking for 2nd and 3rd floor difficult

Review 111:Room was nice

Review 112:Room did not include a safe.

Review 113:Spacious room with a comfortable bed. Great that there were swipe cards for entry. Clean bedroom and bathroom.

Review 114:Location Seemed to be to newly renovated

Review 115:Clean and comfortable.

Review 116:Large well appointed room, recently refurbished

Review 117:This inn is reliably good. The nearby restaurant and cafe are excellent.

Review 118:Liked the restaurant on property, and it had great food.

Review 119:Comfortable rooms. Clean and modern hotel. Warm welcome

Review 120:Rooms need to be updated.

Review 121:Great location

Review 122:Loved the new floors, sink, etc.. Very modern, quiet and super clean. Loved it. Would definitely recommend!

Review 123:Problem with one of our reservations and one of our group had no room

Review 124:Very clean and modern room

Review 125:The room smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke
