Reviews for Hotel Benno
Review 1:Not a great choice, hidden away behind a fancy restaurant. The staff were just normal. The room windows was left open before I arrived meaning that the room was freezing. With no atmosphere at all and not such a great location, only choose Hotel Benno when there is no other option. There are plenty of more central, more friendly and more comfortable options in Eindhoven.
Review 2:Well, there were quite some things I didn't like. The room was small (no problem, cause the offer already stated that), but also freezingly cold. The heater was off and it took quite a while to get the room warm. The rooms are spread on two floors and I don't know if there's one shared toilet and one shared shower for all rooms, or if there's one per floor. Anyway, it was a shared toilet, and if it only was for my floor, it was for 5 or 6 rooms. So, to me, the crucial thing is to keep that toilet in a good state. It was fairly clean, that wasn't the issue during my stay. But it simply did neither have toilet paper nor tissues. Big issue, in my opinion. Another issue happened with the plastic key card on the day of my departure. The room was supposed to be available to me for another 30 minutes, when I went to the toilet. Well, when I wanted to get back to my room (in socks and some lousy shorts) the card wasn't accepted anymore. Which means I had to go all the way down to the ground floor and through the whole resataurant (which was open), because there was no one at the reception... Well, it's a budget accommodation, I know. But considering the price for a very small single room with shared toilet and shower, I wouldn't say it's a value for money deal....
Review 3:Check-In was easy. The area was surprisingly calm at nights. Located close to the city centre is also a plus.
Review 4:Music from the attached restaurant downstairs can be loud. The shared restroom could be cleaned more regularly. No coat hangers in the room.
Review 5:Location was excellent. Breakfast is included and the staff was friendly. Wireless was overall good.
Review 6:Staff were super welcoming and personable. Located above a nice restaurant, the bar was a good place to relax before retiring to the room. Beds were comfortable and check out time generous.
Review 7:The wireless internet is very flaky on second floor. Please improve that !
Review 8:I liked it. Short (10 min) walk from Central station, 1 minute to coffee shops (all kinds). The hotel manager was very friendly and helping. The breakfast boffeet is nice.
Review 9:Had to wait quite a while for the receptionist to check us in. No toilet in the room.
Review 10:Right in the city center, very convenient. Very good breakfast.
Review 11:Toilet and shower facilities were good and clean. However shower head clip in our room was broken so it didn't always stay up.
Review 12:Lovely location, very convenient for town centre. Staff friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English.
Review 13:with close proximity to the centre of the city this hotel offers a safe clean and comfortable place to stay at great value for money. the restaurant offers a good breakfast in the lovely restaurant with great coffee! although having booked a room with a shared bathroom we were given an en suit! Although we were a little on the late side for breakfast both mornings, the staff did not rush us but were happy for us to take time to eat.
Review 14:I had booked the Hotel on line weeks in advance but the Hotel had failed to register by booking which left me in an awkward predicament of having to find alternative accommodation for two nights of my stay. Not very happy, especially when I had to ask for an apology.
Review 15:The Hotel is situated by a row of lovely bars which I frequented most evenings
Review 16:Highly recommended place. Very friendly staff, they help you out in anyway possible. The location is perfect. The hotel has a vintage aura, which gives a very nice feeling.
Review 17:The only thing missing is an elavator, especially if you have to many and to heavy luggage.
Review 18:I love the staff of the Hotel Benno. They are very friendly and helpful. Whatever you need they help you.
Review 19:nice place 2 stay, central 2 every where, helpful, friendly staff hoo speak english as a 2nd language,no probs der,but get a city map u can get lost easily in da car.....
Review 20:Budget accommodation with shared bathroom and toilet . Toilet several floors away . Very overpriced although that said there was an event on the night so they charged whatever they wanted. This is a hostel
Review 21:Good location
Review 22:Steep steps up to room difficult for anyone with mobility issues or lots of luggage!
Review 23:Comfy beds, clean rooms with useful storage, good breakfast, nice staff
Review 24:The wi-fi wasn't always working.
Review 25:The staff was very kind and the location was perfect, I was able to visit all the city and to do everything I needed without worrying of coming back.
Review 26:*Room was not as good as expected *Hotel seem's to be in a phase of renovation so there is still hope :)
Review 27:*Perfect check-in *Helpfull staff *Good restaurant next door
Review 28:I can't be sure if all rooms are like the room I stayed in, but room 21 should be avoided! I arrived at 2045 and there was no one at reception, forcing me to make an out of country phone call. I was put in a room with no hand towels, no hand towel holders, no garbage can, and no TV remote control. Beyond that, it was very loud when the kitchen staff would go through the hallways. I also had contractors/carpenters come to my door at 0750 the next morning asking when I was departing (as if my staying there was interfering with their probable work of the room I was in). Somewhat unprofessional in my opinion.
Review 29:Wifi was good and breakfast was decent in the adjoining restaurant. Person who checked me in was nice, but not the normal reception staff.
Review 30:The room was on the top floor with shared facilities . Everything was clean, just a bit of a climb for more senior public
Review 31:easy reach of all facilities Eindhoven has to offer. Perfect for a weekend away , the football stadium is round the corner and the shopping centre is almost on your doorstep.
Review 32:in my opinion the price is too high for what they offer. everything is really small, the rooms, bathroom, bed... that you can hardly move.
Review 33:very cosy little hotel, clean and you get everything you need
Review 34:restroom was quite far from the room, very cold room and bathroom, stains on the celling, fallen curtains in the room, very small shower, noisy enviroment, no possibility to serve breakfast before 7 a.m.
Review 35:I reserved this hotel 5 nights. But I had to leave that HOTEL only two night sleep because of bed bug!! But Hotel BENO did not refund the the money... But 'Hotel.com' compay tried their best to solve the problem. I thank to 'Hotel.com' compay.
Review 36:I was staying in December. So it's not that warm in Netherlands.Actually: cold. But every freackin time cleaning lady came around, sheturned off the heating and opened the window. So, when I came home inthe evening, I had to hang around for an hour or so in my coat and themsleep all fully dressed up ( I mean, in jeans, sweater, socks... ).Please remind the lady that it is not summer anymore.
Review 37:I was expecting much worse. Since treveling very budget, I had to savemoney and this was quite a nice option. Bed was comfortable, breakfastsare full, staff was friendly, close to the center, very good for a hotellike that.
Review 38:reception is not open always, you have to have a phone with you to call a number so that someone can come and help you. Shared bathroom My towels were left on the floor, outside my room, as I was not in my room at that moment.
Review 39:clean breakfast room tidy areas quiet good location 15min from central train station in Eindhoven on feet
Review 40:Most of the place. It really is fine if you need something cheap and simple, but I won't be returning
Review 41:the fact they gave me a bigger room after not having my booking in the system
Review 42:Price/value is not relevant.
Review 43:Good location, friendly staff, pretty clean.
Review 44:Dirty shared toilets, shower was broken
Review 45:Friendly staff, good service
Review 46:Would have loved if there was scrambled egg and bacon on breakfast menu
Review 47:Nice and warm, and accomodating
Review 48:Shared toilet. Room very small.
Review 49:Amenities are basic, but fine for a short stay.

Review 81:Maybe the smallest twin-bed room i have ever lived in.
Review 82:Concidering it was our chepeast choice , we had a pleasant stay. Value for money?? hm...
Review 83:Because of it close locationto the city centrum, the hotel is somewhat noisy in the nighr
Review 84:Close to city centre and easy go to anywhere in Eindhoven
Review 85:I had trouble with its wireless
Review 86:Great location
Review 87:-horrible bed and pillows, very unconfortable
Review 88:-location near the old town with lots of restaurants snd bars -staff - clean -old style
Review 89:Shower did not work.
Review 90:the window overlooked air conditioning vent, stairs are very steep and you can hear all the noises.
Review 91:The location was great, close to the station, close to the leisure centre, restaurants and mall. Nice breakfast, helpful staff.
Review 92:Better not eat at the restaurant Spice (linked to the hotel). The food is a disgrace although the wine is excellent. Again staff was very friendly
Review 93:Although by mistake I booked a one person room and came with two, the staff managed to put in an extra bed and only a second breakfast needed to be paid. Awesome!! Hotel is simple but clean and the big plus is their staff and friendliness.
Review 94:walls are very thin. So if you are stuck with noisy neighbours, like me, you won't get much sleep!
Review 95:good location on probably the nicest square in Eindhoven
Review 96:I couln't get wi-fi connection from our room, only from the restaurant / lobby area.
Review 97:Small hotel, hard working staff - nice. The breakfast was OK. A bit monotonous for longer stays though.
Review 98:Dirty tiny room with dust on shelves Provided wifi password didn't match and staff couldn't help so no wifi in reality. No lock in shower Room card didn't work perfect. Breakfast without rich choice of meals.
Review 99:Not far from city center
Review 100:Very firendly place. The center location and the family who runs this place were excellent, and have to say that theroom and it`s cleanliness was worth the value.
Review 101:we had one room for three and two rooms for two. The bed for the third was a small camping bed, was not comfortable for a tall man.
Review 102:for the price we payed very good deal, great breakfast nice bars on the square around hotel
Review 103:This is the second time i have stayed at hotel Benno and both experiences have been good. I have booked to come again in the summer. No faults with this hotel at all!!
Review 104:My pillow was without any sheet. It looked dirty.. Good that I was travelling from a project, so had my own pillow sheet. When I wanted to check out at the right time, there was nobody in reception, so I had to call and spend my money.
Review 105:Nice and very helpful bartender!! The location is also great.
Review 106:Some of the rooms a bit on the small side but nothing to be overly concerned about
Review 107:Really close to city centre very clean and nice for a 2 star hotel and nice pleasant staff would stay again
Review 108:Room and toilet a bit old, in need of a refresh to look more clean and modern.
Review 109:Location is great, staff friendly and helpful, room warm and comfortable.
Review 110:Wi-fi is poor from the bedroom but connects easily from the reception area.
Review 111:Very friendly staff, clean & comfy rooms, close to all amenities (shopping centres, pubs, train/bus station). I would definately reccommend this hotel, especially to young travellers. Very welcoming! :)
Review 112:Very unfriendly, very unhelpful staff! We had an issue with our booking which meant we ended up paying for an extra room. Staff were not at all willing to help. Told us to go back every two hours which we did for the first two days (which hugely impacted our stay) and each staff member claimed a different person was the manager! Ended up paying FAR more money than we should have as a result. Terrible experience. Would NOT reccommend.
Review 113:Breakfast good
Review 114:Staff were rude. Room key never worked which meant whenever we came back to the hotel we had to ring the phone number to gain access then wait around for 40 mins until someone arrived to be then be told twice our booking was wrong and we weren't staying there to be further held up in the reception for a further hour.Total disgrace would hightly NOT reccommend. Room was dark low lighting and dirty linen and dust everywhere. Disgusting. We were also overcharged by €17.50 on top of booking.com rate and manager would not refund us.
Review 115:Location
Review 116:Heating was off sometimes, I had to come back for the invoice cause, at the time of checkout, there was nobody at the reception. I got instructions to come specifically at some hour, got there, nobody at the reception again. Then later, when somebody did came at the reception, there was a problem that I came too late.
Review 117:Expensive for what it was. Room was on ground floor and looked out onto dirty laundry crates and staff smoking area.
Review 118:Close to city centre and Philips Stadium
Review 119:Classic Dutch townhouse unfortunately means you can hear everything that happens in the staircase, and other guests were pretty noisy in the morning. But really, this didn't spoil it for us!
Review 120:The kind of classic Dutch townhouse I love: cosy, with a very steep staircase (not a problem for us but it might matter for others), overlooking a beautiful square. Staff was helpful, they went out of their way so we could check in earlier. Overall, good value for money.
Review 121:The single room was tiny. There were no towels in the double room. The toilet in the corridor had no toilet roll. I went downstairs to ask for a remote control for the tv in my room and was told that somebody would bring one to my room but this never happened.
Review 122:The location.
Review 123:Very basic rooms, no wardrobe or shelves. Reception was always unattended, so we needed to go searching for the staff to the restaurant.
Review 124:Good location at a beautiful square. Nice staff at the breakfast, which is set at a cozy restaurant. Breakfast itself is also very good.
Review 125:Bathroom was dirty (hair in the hand wash (the water couldn't go down because of the huge hair-ball!!! disgusting!! and in the bath...). Bad smell came out from the tube. The curtain was grey from the dirt...This was the room No.24.
Review 126:Breakfast was very good. The staff was kind especially that kind blond woman.
Review 127:We booked a triple room, but we stayed in a double room with an adittional bed. We realised this thing after check-out.
Review 128:Central position, cheap parking, acceptable breakfast.
