Reviews for Hotel Solverde Spa and Wellness Centre

Review 1:Very friendly and helpful staff, all of the facilities were very clean. The food and drink were not as expensive as I would have expected considering the quality.

Review 2:We were told by reception(!) that we were in a sea view room, only to find this was not so. Complained but nothing else

Review 3:The foyer is good. Rooms need a freshen up as rather old fashioned.

Review 4:I do not remember when we ever had a quality experience like this. The quality of the hotel and its staff and services is really exceptional. The very professional and very friendly staff catered perfectly to and even anticipated on our needs and desires and made our stay as pleasant as it possibly could be. I would (and do) recommend this hotel to all our friends.

Review 5:Staff were attentive polite and friendly Lovely spacious room with sea view Comfortable beds Super clean pool and tidy comfortable pool area with helpful staff Food exceptionally good

Review 6:Really not what I would call 5*, a rather mediocre breakfast, no free water in room, the shuttle to Porto had broken down, squash court but no squash equipment to borrow/hire. 15 mins to nearest train. I had assumed the beach was ok for surfing/body-boarding, but actually rocky there and you need to go best part of a mile either way. If you like soccer, FC Porto seem to pop in quite regularly for meetings.

Review 7:Lidl right across the road! Pleasant staff and rooms. Bicycles to use. Gym and pools.

Review 8:The tennis courts were quite poor in quality. And the pillows were very lumpy.

Review 9:The location and the quality of this hotel was excellent. Very friendly staff.

Review 10:Breakfast limited. An egg station would improve this. Slimey scrambled egg and greasy bacon. Breakfast over at 10:30 but at 10.15 buffet nearly empty. It was adequate but not 5 stars. The cards that are needed for the towels were also a nuisance. Constantly checking to see where they were or they would have charged €20 each. Beds were not as comfy as other hotels we have stayed in on trip. Air conditioning was very noisy.

Review 11:Big rooms. Peaceful location. Nice walk alongside beach to Espinho. Staff in restaurant at dinner were very friendly and attentive.

Review 12:Nothing it was great

Review 13:The staff is amazing and very friendly. The breakfast buffet is great so much food. The pool is big and there s enough space for everyone. Great service at the bar, evening restaurant, pool, gym, amazing therapist at the spa.

Review 14:Service slow for drinks orders at coffee shop at pool. Would prefer to pay cash rather than pay on room but this was not preferred option for hotel.mini golf needs updating

Review 15:Close proximity to espinho with pleasant board walk in. Train ride to porto very quick from grandje station near hotel. Outdoor pool lovely. Staff friendly and excellent. Restaurant very nice

Review 16:Paying for caps for indoor pool, could be included in price.

Review 17:Staff very helpful. Transfer and free wi fi. Heated swimming pool Free snooker/pool good

Review 18:The room was too small for 3 people (double room with extra bed for a 15yo kid). Although it was written in the offer two double rooms or one double with extra bed, we were given the double with extrabed which is too small to fit three people (the kid of 15, which was mentioned before) Some of the staff were a bit careless (eg a waiter spilled a glass of wine on the table during a dinner)

Review 19:The view to the ocean Voleyball field Great dinners in the hotel restaurant (suppose they have a good chef)

Review 20:For any star hotel elevators should be better. They were slow, damaged and working bad. Also it needs a upgrade on it's infrastructure. It's an old hotel so keep that in mind.

Review 21:Staff availability and rooms very clean. Hot and salty pool is always a must.

Review 22:The staff were very attentive. The location was beautiful with lovely walks along the beach to neighbouring towns. The facilities at the hotel were amazing. The breakfast was outstanding. Overall brilliant experience.

Review 25:Nothing

Review 26:Thank you for all! The ocean and the ocean view from the balcony, wooden walkway in the dunes - for many kilometers along the ocean, breakfast, free shuttle service to Porto and Espinho (book should advance), outdoor pool, gym, sauna, free bicycles and internet, friendly service - all excellent. Privacy especially. P.S. If you come back from Porto in the evening by train and then by foot, the path of Granja shorter and more pleasant than from Espinho station. But in Espinho you can take a taxi up to €6.

Review 27:We liked every single thing

Review 28:We liked the staff . Every single person we meet . From the cleaning people to front desk to dining room staff .... They were all so wonderful !

Review 29:The hotel staff are very friendly, the buffet was excellent with so much choice that I am so glad we stayed for 5 days to enjoy it all. The spa facilities are top quality and with the best masseurs ever! The hotel is just on the beach which is awesome and also close to the railway station with trains into the Porto city centre in 20 - 30 mins. Easy to get to restaurants along the marina. The hotel itself services delicious meals.

Review 30:Hotel requires some renovation - especially the room outlook and bathrooms. What/s more some equipment i.e. air con or hairdrayer are ~15 year old.

Review 31:The hotel aspires to 5 stars... and probably several years or decade ago it was fully deserved. Now I would say 4+. Good breakfast, nice lobby, helpful staff, nice sauna area. Location a bit remote but there is excellent walk path between dunes - 20-30 mins you can reach Espinho.

Review 32:The bed was just not comfortable enough for a hotel of this quality.

Review 33:Excellent staff, fine location, first class restaurant and very good value for money

Review 34:The breakfast is great, so is the food in the restaurant. I would however recommend to avoid ordering pizza from room service!

Review 35:Friendly staff. Breakfast buffet. Indoor pool/spa area. We've been here last during the summer, but in the winter this hotel is equally good. All rooms/hallways/common areas are heated and the spa area is even lovelier when it's cold outside.

Review 36:We found the beds uncomfortable the blankets were heavy and because the room was made as a twin the beds were too close together I would like tea making facilities in the room

Review 37:The location of the beach to the hotel .the standard of the room. We enjoyed the facilities on offer the helpfulness of the staff as I was unable to walk far we made use of the bus service to Porto and down town espino the food especially breakfast was verg good

Review 38:If staying more than a few says, may get slightly bored given there is nothing in the immediate vicinity but easy to get a train into porto or the hotel runs a free shuttle bus.

Review 39:Hotel was quite retro but rooms were large and clean and the spa facilities were lovely. Food was all very good and the waiting staff attentive. Not much to do in the area so perfect for doing nothing at all which was just what we were after. A walk along the boardwalk into town in the evening is as energetic as we got! Would recommend.

Review 40:just thought they put too much clorium in the inside swimming pool, it smells a bit too much and burn your eyes even without diving.

Review 41:I would certainly recommend this to all my friends. Perfect place, everything so nice.

Review 42:There were a lot of families there so sometimes we got stuck listening to crying babies or dealing with a meltdown.

Review 43:Close to Espinho but far enough away to feel distanced from the crowds in the Summer. The Staff was always helpful and responsive. Although we had a problem with the Spa (price charged vs. quoted), the front desk staff and manager were more than willing to help and settled the issue exactly as desired. Also, loved the breakfast every morning. Unfortunately it was always the same, so by day 5 we were a little tired of it, but big assortment of juices, cereals, fruits, cheeses, meats, breads, etc.

Review 44:Loved the location, away from the Big city of Porto, but yet close enough to go and enjoy....especially with the Free hotel shuttle to and from Porto daily. Loved walking the boardwalk to town, the buffet breakfast was excellent.....just a perfect hotel all around.

Review 45:No tea/coffee making facilities in the room or iron

Review 46:very clean hotel great wifi great food both indoor and outdoor pool food very good and customer service excellent

Review 47:If you are a single traveller when you have breakfast they seem to want to shove you on a table out of the way of everyone.

Review 48:Nice hotel about 5 euros by taxi to the local town.

Review 49:No tea or coffee facilities in room. Otherwise can't fault hotel.

Review 50:Very comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking.Breakfast good plenty to choose from. There's a board walk into townfrom hotel, about 20 mins. Taxis are regular to hotel and about 10 minsinto town about 6 euros.

Review 51:the reception areas, restaurant and bar were excellent. Bedrooms need a revamp quickly. A bit dated and very worn looking. Cladding tiles on outside walls need attention asap.

Review 52:Excellent staff. All very helpful. Head waiter gave great help when picking appropriate wines. Another waitress was so helpful in both bar and restaurant. She was so capable she could be put in charge of anything. Bedrooms were a good size. Location very quiet and relaxing

Review 53:It was a 20 minute walk into Espinho centre where there were bars and restaurants. The hair dryer in our room was faulty. Some of the fixtures and fittings were old and could have done with replacing but the whole hotel was impressively clean which meant the age of the place wasn't as noticeable.

Review 54:The Gym, sport, pool and spa facilities were excellent. The breakfast buffet was fantastic with a great variety. The staff were extremely friendly and provided me with gluten free food to accompany my breakfast. This is always a bonus for someone like me with special dietary requirements. The rooms were very clean and well equipped. The staff really made the hotel - they were all helpful, friendly and obliging and didn't become impatient with our very basic portuguese. All of the staff spoke English very well.

Review 55:Hotel is a bit dated. I would recommend to paint hotel white so it looks modern again. There is a path way to the beach but no real beach. Apart from expensive hotel restaurant (well good quality food) no restaurant facilities in the neighborhood.

Review 56:Friendly staff and attentive to customer inquiries and questions. Spacious rooms with well-equipped bathroom. Indoor en outdoor pool excellent water conditions and personal service. Good location to visit Porto and its surroundings

Review 57:Hairdryer was old fashioned (one of the permanent ones in the bathroom) and so very slow to dry my very thick hair. we had a room facing the sea and would like to have left the door open but we found the trains passing by (between hotel & the beach) disturbed us in the night (might not matter if you're a heavy sleeper)

Review 58:comfortable beds, clean & today room good breakfast selection, got seated quickly even at peak times good location on coastline for long walks by the sea (there's a walkway that goes all the way into Espinho along by the beach). Takes about 30mins to walk to Espinho.

Review 59:Since there is an emergency, we have to leave one day before. But the hotel still charge one day for three rooms because they said they are full of booking.

Review 60:- Location not at walking distance from centre Epinho - Expensive lunch and dinner in comparison to centre Espinho

Review 61:- Availability of facilities - Clean rooms - Good breakfast (but after onde month everything becomes boring)

Review 62:5 star hotel could serve more diverse breakfast. No sparkling wine at the breakfast. Unprofessional restaurant staff at the breakfast.

Review 63:Swimming pool with ocean water. Direct access to the coast. Good equipped and comfortable rooms!

Review 64:nothing to dislike here

Review 65:a fantastic hotel where the customer comes first, food fantastic, views lovely. wonderful walks along boardwalk at rear of hotel, good parking & a feel of luxury. pool area superb with play area & mini golf for children. Will go again.

Review 66:Friendliness of the staff. Helpful reception staff and great response to pre-arrival queries regarding room upgrades and additional hotel information requests. Quiet location for restful holiday.

Review 67:The breakfast is ok, but not according to a 4 star hotel. The personnel is friendly and gives good service though.

Review 68:This hotel gives good value for money. The personnel is very friendly. Although the building is some years old, it is well maintained. We stayed in the superior rooms which are nice. The pool area is very good. The location is nice. Hotel can only be recommended.

Review 69:Most of the time the hotel staff were very good but the odd times their standards slipped. The hotel may be 5 stars in Portugal but British standards would rate it as 4 star.

Review 70:Excellent buffet for breakfast. Worthwhile opting for a room with sea view and balcony. Although a bit of a walk to Espinho the boardwalk through the dunes allowed us to witness some beautiful sunsets in the evening.

Review 71:I cannot recall if there was something that disturbed during our stay. :-)

Review 72:We came with 5 & 2 yrs old little girls. We loved specious connecting rooms, its bathroom and balcony with glass safety guard. Heated swimming pool (indoor and outdoor) with seawater was really perfect to feel the beach while the seaside is not really for kids. Welcome drinks were lovely, breakfast was great, outdoor playground and indoor playroom made our stay very handy. What else.. I wish I can go back to Solverde in near future! Thanks to all friendly staff.

Review 73:30 minutes from Porto:15 minutes walk to the railway station + 12 minutes to "general Torres" station or 20 minutes to "San Bento" station (terminus) by express train (more by omnibus train). rocky cost (difficult to swim from the beaches)

Review 74:large and confortable bedrooms, big seawater swimming pool, free bycicles, excellent breakfast buffet with scramble eggs, fresh fruits. Quiet surroundings, good place for jogging or walking along the seaside.

Review 75:Breakfast was not refilled, but it improoved during our one week stay.

Review 76:Our daughter lived the indoor pool and the child zone. We appreciated all service (with very good lunch bufet), great fitness and running at the ocean dunes wooden pavement. The evening pianos and gitar were great. If we will be around, we'll stay there again.

Review 77:We upgraded to a superior room & I hate to think what the standard rooms were like!! Dark dingy dated rooms :( very basic old fashioned bathroom with extremely dated hair dryer, no way is this hotel a 5 star! U had to use swimming hats to go into the indoor pool at a cost of €5 euros & when we asked about treatments in the spa the lady couldn't speak English or even understand we were asking just for a price list ! The breakfast extremely basic & we even got told off for wanting to take 1 small croissant away with us!!!!! Really really disappointed & no way worth the money paid !

Review 78:Swimming pool, Breakfast, friendly staff, fast internet

Review 94:Lunch time snacks were expensive and small in quantity.

Review 95:Breakfast and restaurant was very good

Review 96:Excellent facilities, friendly staff. Lovely pool and gardens.

Review 97:The hotel a 5 star onde, more likely 3.

Review 98:The Staff is very professional....they did their best to solve any inconvenience...

Review 99:The restaurant was average.

Review 100:The pool and gardens and the access to the beach area with the nature conservation area.

Review 101:Breakfast, Pool area, reception and bar area. Location was good, easy access to the beach.

Review 102:Staff and food

Review 103:Could be more choice of breakfast

Review 104:Everything was good. 5*

Review 105:The hotel was very comfortable, very good spa and pool, restaurant excellent and above all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful

Review 106:The toaster !

Review 107:lovely , could not fault the hotel or staff , very relaxing week .

Review 108:Some noise from refitting and railway but not too bad

Review 109:Comfortable, clean, friendly helpful staff, local bars in Aruga, beach, pool, bicycles.

Review 110:Can't think of anything.

Review 111:The hotel has made a lot of improvements but the staff is their biggest asset. They make us feel like family.

Review 112:nothing!

Review 113:The general staff, the Spa staff..the massage..the bloody Mary and steak sandwich for new years day breakfast!

Review 114:cannot fault

Review 115:staff, room, food, spa. location everything

Review 116:Everything

Review 117:Very nice hotel. We had a very cozy and comfortable room. Good sauna and swimming pool and very delicious breakfasts.

Review 118:more snack options

Review 119:Gym was great

Review 120:No tea/ coffee making facilities in the room

Review 121:Every signle member Ii dealt with was very friendley and couldnt do enough for you.

Review 122:Very small Spa area. Tiny sauna. I would not call it a Spa and Wellness Centre

Review 123:Big lobby. Baggage service. Complementary port wine tasting

Review 124:Require a big renovation

Review 125:General facilties but they need urgent update.

Review 126:the hotel caters to your every need from the room to the restaurante and the fitness centre, can't fault it,would stay again....wonderful, very good value

Review 127:No sun shades in the pool area, no pool bar (I think they where rebuilding a poolside cafe so this might be ok now) The hotel is just a little out of town with about 1 mile (1.6km) walk. This can be by way of the beach board walk which is nice. We found the Casino show "Tribal Dreams" (owned by the hotel in the town) is not good for mature people being too loud and so on but the food in the casino restaurant is fantastic value.

Review 128:The staff are very friendly and always willing to help. The bar man is a complete nutter and a really nice guy. Reception staff are excellent and alway ready to help. Breakfast restaurant staff are very attentive and helpful. the breakfast itself was of a very good standard and should satisfy even the most demanding of standards.

The Fine Print
