Reviews for EPIC SANA Algarve Hotel
Review 1:The only drawback was in finding the hotel. If not familiar with the circuitous route from the main road, you could very easily waste time and increase blood pressure !
Review 2:Fantastic location sitting in very eco-friendly site but the best feature was the amazing catering offers from breakfast to fine dining not to mention the New Year Gala Dinner. A final word to the staff who were unfailing in their hospitality and professionalism as personified by Ines.
Review 3:All was perfect
Review 4:The location, hotel and staff were all fantastic. We rented a one-bedroom apartment, as we travelled with a two-year old daughter. The apartment was spacious, clean and very comfortable. All staff were extremely professional and friendly. Reception organized a baby-sitter for two of the nights so we could go out for dinner. The two ladies work during the day at reception and looked after our daughter in a very warm and lovely manner. The breakfast buffet and fine dining experience were both amazing, as are the cocktails created by the talented bar staff. I can only recommend this amazing holiday location.
Review 5:nothing
Review 6:everything is TOP here. Great modern appartments built up to the highest standards, very friendly personnel, great garden and pool area. The biggest plus alltogether is the direct access to the Falesia beach
Review 7:Everything perfect!
Review 8:Me and my husband stayed at this hotel as to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We loved the tranquility at Epic Sana so relaxing just what we both needed. We loved the amazing breakfasts and the delicious buffet there so much to choice and all cooked to perfection. The staff were amazing nothing was too much for them from the front desk staff to the absolutely friendly and delightful cleaners. They all had a genuine smile and were happy to assist us in any way they could - fabulous we can't wait to return!
Review 9:Restaurant availability is not great, unless you're a fan of buffet dinners. There is a fine dining restaurant, with table service, but it's not open every day. The only alternative is the buffet for dinner
Review 10:Good location near a lovely beach. Modern hotel with good facilities and comfortable rooms
Review 11:The sushi at the bar is a total tourist rip off! Expensive and tiny portions. Endless waiting (more than 50 minutes), because only one guy prepares the sushi for all guests. Wellness available only from 12:00 till 15:00, otherwise you have to pay 15 Euro per person!?
Review 12:Good breakfast and nice rooms.
Review 13:The bathtub takes forever to fill up, the beach was crowded and not as picturesque as other beaches in the Algarve.
Review 14:We loved the facilities including the pool, spa and gym. The rooms were very clean and modern. Staff was awesome as was food options. A great place to spend part of our honeymoon.
Review 15:We loved the spaciousness and design of our suite. It was quiet and felt very private. The grounds were beautifully landscaped. The breakfast and buffet in the evening were very good. Our three children had great fun in the playground and pool. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer...
Review 16:I believe the food lets this hotel down, we ate in the restaurant where we had the buffet and unfortunately it is not a five star experience. Waiting staff are great but the food is warm at most and tasteless. We did not eat in Al Quima as we had a 1 year old daughter. I would suggest you crossed the road to the Portuguese restaurant for amazing fresh grilled fish, fried squid, grilled chicken Piri Piri.
Review 17:Very nice hotel with great staff and facilities are first class. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Our room had a beautiful view and spacious balcony.
Review 18:The food at the dinner buffet was not very good and was expensive at Euro 40 per person. The rooms were the most expensive compared to other hotels in Portugal
Review 19:Everything is exceptional at this hotel especially the rooms and the grounds
Review 20:The staff is badly trained. The bathrooms gave the toilet next to the shower so they are constantly flooded. Also the shower drainage doesn't seem to work as it smells and is mouldy. The spa is awful. We asked for a 90 minute massage and got a 50'plus 30'in a jacuzzi. The therapists were below average. The room was cold and had too much light.
Review 21:Pool area is great. The location just next to the beach is also good.
Review 22:Exemplary facilities and views. Staff attentive and friendly. Felt like a real treat to be there. Rooms comfortable and modern with lovely views from the private balcony.
Review 23:See Above
Review 24:The only ''less positive'' Was that our room Was Above The ventilation system, for us that smell Was a bit hard to cope with. The rest superb. Thanks Fredrik
Review 25:Nothing major - maybe the buffet meals and some drinks seemed overpriced, but you can easily eat elsewhere.
Review 26:Fantastic hotel, extremely clean, great facilities, friendly staff - the whole (pretty picky) family agreed they would return in preference to going to other similar ones along the coast. Despite booking at the last minute, the hotel provided interconnecting rooms which we had not expected. A well deserved Five Stars.
Review 27:The location was not the best for us. were a bit far from more actives areas.
Review 28:The staff was very kind. The hotel is excellent, with very nice facilities. Even though was very busy and almost at their 100% capacity, you did not realise.
Review 29:Quite expensive but I suppose that's what you should expect mid summer. It is also near the beach bit down about 100 steps as the hotel is on the top of a hill. Would definitely go again though as hotel was very nice all round.
Review 30:Overall, the experience was great. The only problem we had was when we decided to try ones of the buffet nights. Food was average and the duty manager was rude with us and kept asking the waiters to check if we had paid the bill since we were not half board.
Review 31:I stayed with my family in one of the studio apartments. The place was nice and of good size, although the decoration was very generic.
Review 32:Everything was excellent, staff, room, facilities, food. The location also is great, easy access to a wonderful beach, praia da Falesia. All in all a great experience.
Review 33:This was probably the worst place on our 15 days trip in Portugal. And it's not about the hotel (possibly it's the only good place to stay in Albufeira) but the area itself. Absolutely touristic, with very bad restaurants around, crowded beach. I would not advise people with good taste, looking for relaxation and authentic portuguese things come to this area. There are much better locations in Algarve like Altura, Sagres, Carvoiero, Olhao and some others.
Review 34:Good breakfast. Nice restaurant at the pool but quite expensive. Nice path to the beach.
Review 35:- Reception staff needs to improve English and response rate: 4 times enquired about kid's pajama, which the housekeeping took together with bed linen by accident and received no response. A number of other enquires were ignored. Besides we were not shown around the hotel or to our apartment, which was done to most of other guests. This made us feel special in a wrong kind of way. - Staff at Lima Bar of significantly lower quality than at the main restaurant. Poor English again; - The hotel doesn't have an own beach or bar on the beach, which we actually expected to come across at a 5* hotel; - The double bed had 2 mattresses put together, so there was still a hole in the center;
Review 36:Really spacious apartments; Reliable and quick WIFI; Stunning location; Spotlessly clean and well maintained; Special thanks to Magda from the Kids Club for making our children feel at home;
Review 39:Morning cleaners are a bit lousy. They forgot to refill our bathroom soap that was basically over and we had this band aid in our floor quite visible from the first day we arrived until the last and nobody cared to remove it.
Review 40:I really liked this hotel. Probably one of the best we ever stayed. Child Friendly. Helpful staff. Delicious breakfast.Superb location to explore the Algarve.
Review 41:I love kids.. but on holidays I expect relax..:) A lot families staying there with very smal children's starting from 3-4 months - up to 10 years old. They everywhere screaming, making very high noises playing or screaming next door and at swimming pools - sometimes it feels like you are in kindergarden, no chance to get nap during the day at the pool or even your room. In my opinion some arias should be separated for families staying with very small kids - coz hotel is so big and have possibility to to that - to achieve perfect confort for couples who relaxing without kids to be in peace, and others be happy to having around they own babies. I would call it family resort - and only this reason keeps me looking for other place to stay next time.
Review 42:everything is top of the top, starting from the spacious and well designed rooms, beautiful and big hotel aria, pools, restaurant ant super profesional ant high quality service staff!Love very modern design in all spaces, also gym is nice, indoor pool...
Review 43:We did not have any meals included in our booking was felt the buffet dinner was quite pricey for the choice that was offered
Review 44:We had an excellent deluxe apartment with great views which made all the difference. The balcony was magnificent to have breakfast on and drinks in the evening. The grounds and the pools were excellent and the staff very friendly and accommodating The beach close by was splendid
Review 45:Had such a lovely time, there really is nothing to fault with this hotel. Wonderful ambiance, Great staff, Good food (€40 per head for the evening buffet is a bit steep, but the same as other five star hotels in the area). Fine dining restaurant was a nice evening out and not too pricey (A little way off that Michelin star though). Three main pools (one for adults, one for kids and one mixed) and a separate 'village' pool next to the (free) kids club.
Review 46:some youg staff memebers at the pool clearly "viewing" and talking about some of the woman guest on a way not expected specially in a 5 star hotel. WIFI not working at the pool area.
Review 47:modern, clean facilities and rooms, close location to the see, nice pool area, friendly and helpfull staff
Review 48:We loved everything!!! Even if the front desk staff did a great job Would be good good for the hotel to have a concierge. Car rental from the hotel not very good.
Review 49:Everything was great! The front desk and the restaurant staff was very nice very professional and friendly. The buffet and the gastronomic restaurant was very good.
Review 50:Everything is really excellent. For the sake of being constructively critical I would like to point at the following: - the restaurants at the resort are expensive (disproportionately expensive if you compare it to good restaurants in the Algarve region). For example: 40 euros per person, excluding drinks, for the dinner buffet (on the other side of the street you pay 10 euros per person, but for less good quality I have to admit). - the breakfast could have more local, home-made and organic products. The tropical fruit and orange juice is great, but many of the products are industrial (yoghurt, croissants, pancakes etc). After a week, I was longing for something new, something typical of the region, something special. - the beds are slightly hard and the pillows too soft for my taste. But Im writing this for the sake of being constructively critical, because this hotel is really excellent and I would rate it at 9.5/10.
Review 51:beautiful location, sound isolation, cleanliness, staff, pilates classes, terrace that is part of room, peacefulness.
Review 52:Sauna nur zwischen 12 und 15. Uhr kostenlos nutzbar, Abendessen leider zu Fleischlastig, abräumservice manchmal viel zu schnell
Review 53:Luxuriös, schlichte Einrichtung, Ambiente sehr entspannt, Umgebung gut, Frühstück reichhaltig und vielfältig, Service sehr freundlich und höflich, pilates angebot super, Spa und Ruheraum sehr angenehm
Review 54:There was a private beach close to the hotel (has to use some wooden stairs) and pay extra 15 eur / day for 2 beds and umbrella. Not much but it is a pity hotel does not have its own beach.
Review 55:It was definitely the best hotel I stayed in. It is very luxurious. Everything shines. Rooms are very big - my bed was so huge it could fit 5 persons. Very well decorated, spacious, clean. Staff is super friendly and nice - treat you like a royal person. Very beautiful surroundings, and gardens. Warm pool inside, couple of pool outside. Lot's of places for evening walks. We were with an infant: the baby bed was very good. Everything easy to access with a stroller/buggy (except the beach).
Review 56:Missing another opportunity to visit the fine dining restaurant which was only open one of the days we were staying.
Review 57:Great hotel, friendly efficient staff, lovely food.
Review 58:The dinner was too pricey, had a free dinner but ended up with a huge bill just for water! I didn't have any alcohol or soft drinks. And once it starts to get crowded the attentiveness of staff started to be affected so I would only stay here mid or low season.
Review 59:Free yoga and Pilates classes
Review 60:Restaurant service was below average. 40 minutes to serve a simple hamburger?! A shame as everything else was perfect
Review 61:Almost everything, variety of pools, bars, restaurants. Kids club is superb and gardens are exuberant and great for afternoon walks
Review 62:Nothing
Review 63:Happy and helpful staff, nothing was any trouble. Fantastic attention to detail from staff. Did not want to leave. Will be revisiting again.
Review 64:This is a fantastic hotel - clean, stylish, relaxed. My sea view double was perfect. Absolutely faultless. The buffet breakfast was varied, with a great selection. Service throughout the hotel was friendly and attentive but not intrusive. I didn't use the spa or gym but did use the pool - again clean and faultless. The hotel is set in spacious, perfectly kept gardens, next to a cliff top nature reserve with steps down to the beach.
Review 65:Staff Very clean room Common areas/grounds very nice and clean Good parking service Good wifi Good food and breakfast, prices were good too for a 5 star restaurant Overall, a 10 in my book. Very good beach access, and beautiful short walk to get there. Beach was very nice and clean. Road from Lisbon to Hotel, very nice, much better than the drive from Paris to the French Rivera. Restaurant staff was at the 5 star level Overall, area much cleaner than France, and prices much cheaper. People were very friendly. Americans living in France as Expats.
Review 66:The facilities were top notch and the Staff went out of their way to accomodate all of our requests. We particularly appreciated the assistance from Margarida who helped us with a car rental, touring suggestions and dinner reservations.
Review 67:Great food, service and facilities. Gym was excellent and the breakfast too. Best part was, however, the flexibility and welcoming attitude of the staff.
Review 68:Loudness of the Bar until middle of the Night! Preference being given to Congress members of McDonald's instead of individual guests, even though an additional Night has been already confirmed. Swimming Pool füll of Sand and small Pieces are not replaced.
Review 69:Location and Concept of the Hotel is very good!
Review 70:great modern hotel for those seeking peace and tranquility. Great location. The staff very attentive. Rooms equipped with iron. Nice toiletries replenished daily. Food very good.
Review 71:We had booked a "family room" on booking.com. Small prints say that interconnected rooms can't be guaranteed. Ambiguity of booking.com not helpful. Hotel was full and staff did their best to provide us with suitable accommodation.
Review 72:The hotel was beautifully designed, well built and immaculately clean. The pool facilities were great and the staff very helpful. There's a non-booking policy regarding reservation of sun beds which is respected by guests. The grounds are well maintained and the beach is an easy 5-minute walk.
Review 73:Too short stay and room being above some central AC( above the main entrance ), even 4th floor it was quite audible
Review 74:The design, beautiful very spacious room, amenities, service, breakfast!!!
Review 75:Via their website, EPIC Sana could facilitate airport transfers and a local shuttle to vilamoura or albufeira, chargeable of course. Plus tea/coffee in rooms should be free given the room rate!
Review 76:And all was as good this time as it was the 1st - the steps to the beach are an added bonus :)
Review 77:Overall a great experience. Staff where amazing and allowed my friends who where staying in a local hotel to come and relax round the pool with me. All very friendly, the location is great, and the spa is also lovely. Would definitely return!
Review 78:In general they have to improve the info provided of the facilities and services in the hotel. That creates misinformation and issues: schedules of bars and restaurants were contradictory in the information provided for the hotel at the check-in. One swimming-pool only for adults, again not included in the info at booking nor in the hotel web-page. The hotel tries to keep separated hotel guests (mainly adults) and apartment guests (families), at check-in they told us that we could not have breakfast in the main restaurant, but in another (smaller) in the apartments area. These details are not acceptable, specially when the hotel is advertised for its incredible and extraordinary 5 start service.
Review 79:The apartment, really luxory and high standards of quality in many details. Really quiet and very well soundproof. Very nice hotel and rooms, everything new and with a nice decoration. Small resort with everything very near. Nice beach. Good idea the swimming-pool only for adults, but they have to advice in advance. Issues were solved very professionally.
Review 80:1. Beach support infra structure. Very limited shades available and not exclusive to the hotel. Please consider having umbrellas available to guests to mitigate this negative point. Also no restaurant is available. Maybe worth to make available food kits to take to the beach? 2. Room cleaning service not consistent. Sometimes greatly done, sometimes poorly
Review 81:1. Staff quality. Always available and nothing is too much trouble 2. Quiet hotel. Ideal to relax without a huge crowd 3. Overall infra structure is very good.
Review 82:Location - far away from Albufeira or Vilamoura (app. 20 minutes by car) or other interesting places; no nightlife, just a few small restaurants around; you need to rent a car if you do not want to be limited ; Sunbeds on the beach under fee 18 € for two sunbeds and one sun umbrella per day, no showers at all.
Review 83:Everything was great; modern design hotel, nice rooms, wonderful garden, nice pool area, great staff, good food, amazing ocean view, just a few minutes to the Falesia beach which is accessed by steps that lead down from the clifftop - also very nice view going down or up. You can walk or run on the top of the cliffs or on the beach for kilometers. There is also a lot of golf courses around.
