Reviews for Alfagar II Aparthotel

Review 1:Hot water only for 30 seconds, blankets dusty and place less than optimally clean. Wifi didn't work well inside apartment. Only one A/C / heating for two-bedroom apartment

Review 2:Next to beach, quiet

Review 3:There was a few seagulls in the pool

Review 4:Everything was great, you could eat your dinner off the floor and the beds where super big the kitchen was massive and we even had an oven.the indoor pool was brilliant and the beach beautiful

Review 5:Unfortunately our balcony looked down on to a building site and a road which ruined the otherwise stunning sea view. If it was high season, I would have understood, but in late November there appeared to be a lot of empty apartments. The hotel charges for almost everything and the bar can be expensive (expected in a resort though). While the indoor pool and gym were open, I noticed on a price list that they normally charge for the use these facilities. They will charge for everything, from a game of pool to calling a taxi, so beware if you are visiting high season with kids. Our stay was very quiet due to the fact that we had no neighbours, but the apartments are very noisey. Can hear cars on outside, people in other rooms, and outside in the halls. As a couple with no kids, this resort was super relaxing. But would not visit in high season due to charges for all the facilities and the potential noise from families with young children and infants.

Review 6:Beautiful resort with stunning views, gardens and pools. Rooms are spacious, well equipped and spotless clean (as is the rest of the resort). Indoor pool is great during winter, gym is a very dated but usable if you improvise. Beds are single pushed together but very comfortable and rooms are cleaned everyday. Visiting in late November is perfect for adults looking to unwind as the resort is peaceful and none of the areas feel overcrowded.

Review 7:Checking was quick & was able to have our room early, which was great as we had a early flight. we had a nice garden view which was facing the tennis court. Lovely clean resort, rooms were spacious & clean with everything you need for self catering...Nice water park & with a beach close by, Staff was friendly too. A 15 min walk will take you to the nearest bar & restaurant. Free wifi in lobby!

Review 8:Staff were so helpful and friendly. We arrived before our check in after nearly 12 hours travelling and the lovely girl at reception got our room ready early. Such a clean and beautiful hotel. Supermarket is very handy and reasonable. Rooms were very spacious and so comfortable.

Review 9:Shower kept flooding- no fans in bathrooms which rendered the apartment very humid No servicing of apartment during our 3 day stay. Limited and awkward parking. Someone reversed into our rental car during the night causing damage...

Review 10:Spacious apartment Good value Nice pools

Review 11:Free WiFi only in reception area. Could make more of bar area and perhaps one bar be free of young children after 9pm. Evening entertainment onsite was of poor standard overall considering the location distance from town.

Review 12:Opted for a one bed sea view apartment - spacious, comfortable, perfect with gorgeous views. Breakfast was good value - buffet style, good quality selection and the hot choices were hot! Very clean and well maintained. Lovely setting. Evening meal - we dined one evening at the hotel and were pleased with the quality of food and choice. Would not want to dine every night at the hotel but it was nice to have the option to purchase as needed. Nice cliff top walks with steps to the beach and coves.

Review 13:A little far out of Old Town need to get a taxi but could walk to Strip but taxi back as I was away with my daughter and the walk was rather dark.

Review 14:Lovely apartment and pools with plenty of sunbeds and a shop on site

Review 15:Our apartment was very noisy . We were situated beside a busy road. Also children were running and screaming through the corridors most nights. Housekeeping could be better we were there for 8 nights and bedsheets were not changed. Minimum cleaning done in the 8 days. Our view was off a building site with very little sunshine.

Review 16:Excellent facitites for children including many pools and a playground pool with slides. Also two regular playground and outdoor pitch. There was some evening entertainment. Supermarket on site has good supplies with fresh bread daily. Food options are very good. Staff are very helpful and courteous. Self catering facilities were very adequate.

Review 17:Having to pay 25e for wifi for 7 days, which only allowed one person at one time to use it. They had entertainment for kids but some days they would have been cancelled which was slightly annoying. The taxi service itself in the general area, not at fault to the hotel, would probably suggest they consider running a courtesy bus for their customers to get in an out of the near by towns.

Review 18:The hotel an its surrounding grounds are amazing, two different playground areas, 5 different pool areas an its right beside the beach. Have to give a big thank you to richardo who worked in the bar, absolute gentleman and to marco too he was great fun an is great wit the kiddies. And of course to reception they couldn't do enough for you. Very helpful staff.

Review 19:Needed a little more entertainment for the children on the evening but that said it is only a minor critisism plus we did go late in September (out of season)

Review 20:Really nice area, loved the different pool areas, good for the children they loved the slides and pools

Review 21:Lacks a dishwasher; internet and locker are paid extra; two single beds put side-by-side instead of a double bed; music from the hotel bar is extremely loud, we wonder how anyone can like it

Review 22:Spacious, contemporary apartment and balcony, very clean, well kept, well equiped

Review 23:It was a shame that you couldn't have a credit against the room as paying cash was inconvenient at times.

Review 24:The complete package - the quality self catering accommodation, the food in the restaurant and swimming facilities were all perfect for us and our young son. 3 beaches are within walking distance with a buggy as long as you avoid the quickest route down the many stairs.

Review 25:None

Review 26:The location is fantastic along with the facilities, bar staff were very pleasant, cleaners are constantly on the go, the complete hotel was spotless throughout, brilliant 2 week stay

Review 27:Good value for money and the children really enjoyed the pool. We got an upgrade to a sea view room which was lovely and the balcony was huge. We had a great family holiday.

Review 28:Garden view not great - would go for a pool view next time. Pool Bar expensive. 15 minute walk to the main area and it's quite a steep climb in places. Very quiet in the evenings.

Review 29:Apartment was clean and large. Swimming pools and grounds kept in very good order. Never a shortage of sunbeds even in August. Good supermarket 100 yards away. Lovely beach 200 yards away.

Review 30:Noisy - corridors but also room 101 on corner and very noisy busy streetright outside all night. Also, terrace was very small and only had sununtil noon. View was one of the building site across the street, ratherthan the garden I have paid for. Understaffed at reception leading tolots of waiting around. Poor Wi-fi in room- surely should be free in 4star hotel in 21st century, as should a safe! I had to pay in advancedespite booking with Booking.com - I understand they get a lot of'runners'. Some guests spoiled experience - smoking in thechildren's pool etc, and no staff available to report it to.

Review 31:Cleanliness was impeccable! Pools were good too - kids loved them. NIcebeach at the bottom of the steps. Kitchen and layout of apartment good.

Review 32:I found the accommodation was a little too far out of town. we usually like to eat out on an evening and although you have a restaurant (Martins) about a ten minute walk away to get to the strip took about 30 mins walk and the old town about 1 hours walk. If you walked in the direction of olhos d'agua you came to a sprinkle of restaurants, this would take about 20-25 mins to walk (lovely indian restaurant called Tiffanys). We didnt really come across any local bars unless we had a bit of a hike. Obviously there were the bars and buffet/snack restaurant on site but they were always far too busy to enjoy. Beds were quite uncomforatble.

Review 33:Ideal for families with young children, plenty of facilities to keep them busy. I loved the fact there were so many pools and you could almost always find a sun lounger. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. The supermarket was very handy and quite reasonable.

Review 34:The only issue I had was on arrival. I had upgraded to a superior room but on arrival there wasn't one available until the following day. I thought that I should have been notified if this prior to our arrival. A quick email to let me know would have surficed. Having to change room was a little inconvenient as it meant you couldn't really settle in until the second day. I just think a little bit more thought could have gone into this. In saying that the two know ladies on reception were excellent.

Review 35:Everything was excellent. When travelling with two young energetic boys it is important to have plenty foe them to do and there certainly was that there. The staff are excellent very friendly and helpfully. Definitely hoping to return next year ☺

Review 36:Room 224 only has a 15% Sea View which was very disappointing. This roomdoes get a lot of road noise! I asked to be moved and half way through aten day holiday a new room was offered but to repack and move was toostressful. Bar service very poor except in the Red Bar.

Review 37:Very clean, reception staff very nice. Cleaners super great people. Allpools super.. The walk to the beech is a must. 15 -20 mins walk of mainstrip but the old town is worth the £8.00 cab ride.

Review 38:The paid WiFi, at €7 per day PER device was expensive. Evening entertainment is probably best suited to younger children.

Review 39:A great range of self catering facilites - Full oven, microwave, toaster, etc. Excellent location. It is about 1km from the hussle and the bustle of the main "strip" but we liked that . I twas close enough to walk to but far enough away to be quiet at night.

Review 40:I booked a sea view, got room 403 which looked onto a building site, you could see the sea in the distance but there were many many rooms that did not loo onto the building site

Review 41:The location was ok but it is a bit of a walk to go to restaurants when it very warm. Taxis were about 5 euro but you had to go at 6 or after 8.30pm as the wait could be at some points and hr. We asked for extension to our room and pay for it but they said ask on the day. On that day we were told hotel full so we had to check out as normal, we stayed by the pool and our room never got cleaned while we were there so asked at reception and they advised the person coming in to our room had been given another room. The hotel was not full! This I feel is something they need to look at as the facilities for washing is just a shower no electrical points for hair driers so you can't dry your hair. If you want late check out they should document it at start of holiday and try to give this at the end as not everyone flys out at same time

Review 42:The hotel can not be faulted it is very clean the rooms are large with a great balcony great with two older children. The breakfast again was brilliant and my step daughter has coeliac and the staff went out of their way getting a new toaster just for her to use and making chips in separate oil. Great place to stay. The sunbeds you get after 9 and usually enough for everyone. Mini market very cheap and supermarket 2 mins to the right of the hotel. Beach was nice just a bit of a walk from the main hotel. We didn't use the bar burganvila on site so can not comment

Review 43:The location of the apartment meant that if you wished to venture into Albufeira a taxi was required (approx. 6-7 euros- each way. Apart from beaches there was nothing of interest within the immediate vicinity of the hotel complex.

Review 44:The apartments were spacious and extremely clean. The maid service was excellent as were all the staff at this hotel/apartment complex.

Review 45:lack of transport to and from old / new town. Went in August and there were no shuttle bus. Then in peak time from 6pm onwards it was very difficult to get a taxi without waiting up to an hour. I realise it's peak season but if Alfagar put on a shuttle bus every 20mins from 6pm, and charged everyone €2 the bus would pay for itself!!

Review 46:food not great. ok for snacks. not much for teenagers to do.

Review 47:staff were excellent. facilities very good. super place for families especially if you have younger kids.nice mix of people from lots of different countries. martins restaurant less than 5 mins walk is lovely.

Review 48:Booked a 2 bed apartment but when I checked in they had changed us to 2 X 1 bed apartments. I had booked the apartment more than 8 months in advance so I was not happy. They gave me dinner as compensation when I complained but I was not happy and they could not offer me any alternative. Would have rated much higher if not for this.

Review 49:Pool area was excellent.

Review 50:Bit of a walk to town centre, but no problem if you have hire car

Review 51:Loved the friendly staff, lovely clean spacious accommodation, beautifully cared for grounds and wonderful clean swimming pools

Review 52:Having to get taxis to most places as it's a bit far from the oldtown and new town of albufeira. They never cost more than 9euro though.Queing for the taxi was mad as everyone seemed to leave the complex atthe same time ha.

Review 53:The hotel is an excellent choice for families. There was 10 of us intotal 6 adults and 4 kids. Pools are fantastic with a big one for kidswhich has plenty of slides to keep them busy. Also there is a bigplayground which is great. The place itself is spotless and well lookedafter. The rooms are huge we stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which hadeverything we needed, staff are very helpful and the pool bar is a greatplace to sit and have some lunch. Bit pricey but food is good and theyhad a parrot and reptile show on 2 days while we were there. They doaqua fitness nearly every day which is great fun .There is a restauranta few minutes away called martins which is really nice and not tooexpensive. Also buddy's in the old town is a great spot. Enjoyedevery minute of our stay and will be returning

Review 54:This apart hotel is great! Swimming pools are amazing, kids pool fantasic. Rooms are very spacious, including balcony. Staff are all lovely and very helpful. We didn't eat in the restaurant so cannot comment. Location only €8 taxi to Old town and strip is 15/20 mins walk. Would definitely be going back, kids loved it so much! Complimentary free wifi for our stay Thumps up!!!

Review 55:It was noisy at night as the bar across the road had loud music every night that could be heard in the apartment. The pools are very cold and we could only use them with our toddler in the afternoon when they had heated up.

Review 56:The hotel was spotless and had excellent facilities for children. The staff very also very friendly

Review 57:Second time to stay here and couldn't rate it highly enough. Pools great, kids entertainment, close to the beach. 10mins taxi to the old town which us lovely.

Review 58:waiting for taxis , and bedding only getting changed once a week.

Review 59:pools and beach areas were very good apartments very clean and staff were friendly shop on site vey fair on prices, we are returning in September have already booked.

Review 60:the service in the apartment bar was very bad.....the buganvilla tere should be a shuttle bus available to go to the strip and old town I wouldn't mind paying.

Review 61:pool area and the alfagar pool bar was very good food and staff.

Review 62:Great location only 5 min away from all the action in Albufeira, excellent facilities and absolutely spotless, we only stayed one night passing through but would deffinately return, the walk down to the beach was well worth it, beautiful

Review 63:The Staff. Paula specifically. This was the second time I have stayed at this hotel and both times she was unpleasant. She is the only name I remember specifically but NONE of the staff was exactly pleasant.

Review 64:The kid pools with slides and the park by the bar.

Review 65:Restaurant food not great, but went to town most days anyway so didn't bother us. If you have very small kids its not easy to get to beach with buggy.

Review 66:Brilliant for young family's, great pool area, playground and apartment...only just home but will definitely return.

Review 67:Best holiday ever away with family as the facilities were great. Pools were wonderful and kept kids entertained especially the slide pool. Always something planed for kids in the evening and two bars for parents and grandparents to sit back and relax, plus kids were welcome. Definitely will be back to stay.

Review 68:Having to pay for Wifi in Alfagar II since it's free in parts of Alfagar I. It is reasonable to expect free Wifi in all good holiday resorts. I refused to pay for it, so to check e-mails etc I had to go to the bar bouganvilia area. 4.40 euro for 2 orange squashes (water + fruit juice/cordial) for 2 young children in the hotel restaurant was outrageous. This price of 2.20 euro per diluted orange drink was nowhere to be found on the price-list. I'd never come across a taxi-calling fee at a hotel before! No towel service at the indoor pool - it is prohibited to bring the towels from your room

Review 69:Swimming pools Beach Proximity of mini markets Cleanliness of apartment

Review 70:a bit far from main centre and bars, entertainment in hotel was poor.

Review 71:friendly staff, clean grounds and rooms had every think in rooms that we needed. Value for money, snack bar was very reasonable prices and food good.

Review 72:Everything about this hotel was brilliant. Cant say anything bad really. Only the fact that booking. Com messed us around it took an hour to check in but wasnt the hotels fault.

Review 73:No children's entertainment in the evening, which would have been nice.

Review 74:Loved the beach and multiple pool/park options. Lots to keep little ones ammused!

Review 75:The only bad thing I have to say is the younger male member of staff was a bit off with us and wasn't as helpful as he could have been when we asked him to sort something out. He has been rude to us when we have stayed in the past.

Review 76:I liked that everyone was so friendly and willing to help- the welcome we received (being a free upgrade to a 2 bed sea view room) was great.

Review 77:Paying 50 cent every time you needed a taxi ordering. Paid for wifi.

Review 78:Apartment facilities, cleanliness and size, swimming pools, on site shop. Sky sports 1,

Review 79:Always a queue at reception-felt annoyed that we had to wait as long as we did. Bar Buganvilia- ate there 4 out of 5 nights as food very good but service was slow. Sat there without a drink for an hour and half and one night my mums meal was forgotten and took 20 mins at least to turn up. Still ate there though so I would still recommend. Family friendly. Wished there was a few more places to walk to to eat at night. We have a 2 year old so didn't fancy a long walk/cab ride to dinner.

Review 80:Fantastic rooms with lovely views. Good food in bar buganvilia as long as you don't mind a wait. Family friendly. Pool areas are clean and great for kids and couples alike. Big rooms and big balconies.

Review 81:Not much.

Review 82:Cleanliness. Pool for kids. Slides. Water flume. Apartment size. Great balcony for young kids-100% safe. Fab beach down steps at end of complex.

Review 83:Sorry we didn't experience anything we disliked on this trip!

Review 84:Liked everything. Hotel was lovely, clean and friendly. We will definitely be going back....and bringing friends!

Review 85:Can't really think about anything bad about this place. Maybe water in kiddies pool is small bit cold but that's about it.

Review 86:Brilliant facilities for kids, our 2,5 year old had a great time, lovely playground and pools for children. Spotlessly clean! Very helpful staff! Beautiful beach, smallie loved all the steps down to beach! Greatly recommended!!!!

Review 87:The man on check in was not very welcoming, but any dealings we had with all of the other staff that were there the previous year were wonderful as always. I had never encountered this man before but not great customer service .

Review 88:Wi-fi only available part of day and main hotel bar was not open.

Review 89:Excellent accommodation loved the walk to the ocean view point and walk down to beaches

Review 90:We didn't think selection at buffet in restaurant was great but we were there just before season started so may be better when busier. Bar had great selection tho and lovely atmosphere. Bed was 2 singles pushed together. Would be great if dish cloths and sweeping brush available in apt.

Review 91:Excellent facilities in the resort, so clean, friendly and relaxing. Fantastic space in superior apt. Shop in resort was very handy! Loved the atmosphere.

Review 92:1. It's not feeling that you live in a hotel - staff should work better. 2. You can not juse free internet in the room - only 7 eur/day payble internet. 3. Rooms are not cleaning still visit - we were for three nights (four days)- nobody came to clean room (bring shampoo, take garbidge).

Review 93:Location is very good.

Review 94:Noisy road so request pool view room if you are a light sleeper!

Review 95:The rooms were spacious, attractive and had everything you would need. We were really impressed. Perfect for family's with children. Swimming pools and gardens were beautiful.

Review 96:The Wifi - both cost and hours of availability could be improved.

Review 97:The child-friendly design of the hotel and amenities, affordable price and convenience of the location.

Review 98:the breafast buffet. Same thing everyday.

Review 99:Boy were we surprised when we got to the hotel. It was BETTER than we expected. Outdoor pools, plentiful and clean. Lots of little kiddy parks, a soccer field, indoor pool and gym. The walk down to the beach was easy, our 2 year could do it with only a little assistance. The beach was nice too, no chairs/loungers though. There was a little grocery store on site at the hotel that was convenient. We paid for the breakfast buffet, IMO not worth it. The hotel room was huge, nice size kitchen and seperate dining area. The bed was super comfortable! Nice balcony to sit out on as well. Housekeeping was really great too.

Review 100:Our sea view was a little overshadowed but the large crane & building site right opposite us. But that would be the only gripe.

Review 101:Cleanliness, spacious apartment with large balcony. Warm indoor pool as we visited end of March & outside pools were a little cold!!!

Review 102:No free internet The aircondition heating could sometimes feel cold

Review 103:Spacious and clean apartment with a lot of equipment Really friendly staff Great facilitets- indoor and outdoor swimmingpool and playground for children Great location- close to restaurants and the Beach Free extra bed for our daugther- great service

Review 104:There is nothing that I don't like but it would be excellent if there was washing machine and dishwasher. But that does not change my mind to visit again.

Review 105:Good view, proximity to see, room size.

Review 106:- Paid internet connection

Review 107:- Really big apartment with a sea view. - Lots of Outdoor spaces (pools and gardens). - Friendly staff -Near the beach of st eulália

Review 108:The hotel complex is amazing, great location, the one bedroom apartment is really spacious, clean and a kitchen with everything you might need on a self catering holiday. Will be returning to Alfagar Aparthotel soon!

Review 109:Just the wireless a bit poor but you don't travel to get stuck in the Web anyways...

Review 110:Like all Portuguese people, staff always willing to help and provide a customized service rather than "these are the rules.., this is the law..., etc..." Excellent infrastructure, complete kitchen and huge apartment.

Review 111:loved the contemporary apartments open and airy large balcony with great views landscaping of the village beautiful pool areas fab as the resort had 3 pool areas all with different feel great bar with fab food for evening if you don't want to drive or taxi into town

Review 112:That there was no. WiFi in THE room. You could rent iT but inkt one person van use iT. Not from thuis time, there should be WiFi everywhere.

Review 113:Room,pool,

Review 114:-Need free WiFi in the rooms. Seriously.

Review 115:-Ocean view room -Balcony -Great kitchen facilities -Beautiful beach -Onsite grocery store -Location away from overdeveloped area -Friendly staff

Review 116:The food was a bit anonymous. Some of the staff was not so friendly. We think is was because of the end of the season..:)

Review 117:This hotel is superb. The pools in and outdoor was excellent. Very impressed about the layout. It works! - Good parking also.

Review 118:Having to leave ,people in apt. above us a little too noisy with kids running back and forth at night and early morning ,paid for sea -view ,which was a bit away in the distance through the trees ,

Review 119:Very clean, comfortable apartments ,brillant, helpful staff ,great pools, slides ,waterpark area , indoor pool was lovely in the evening ,when it got a little cooler outside , kids had a great time , shuttle bus to old town each morning ,15 mins. walk to strip, plenty of bars/restaurants ,shops nearby , lovely beach /walks ,etc.

Review 120:Apartments huge with good size balcony and plenty enough kitchen space and equipment Facilities great and very family friendly Pools a little cold due to time of year but indoor pool in action (bit of a sauna in there mind) Food all good and bars very friendly staff Couldn't really fault the place to be fair

Review 121:This time of year there was a lot of flys

Review 122:Access to beach was good sitting on the large balconies in the sun was amazing Heated indoor pool for the kids they loved that Lovely space in apartment for eating and entertaining

Review 123:We were very pleased with the hotel and facilities. We travelled October half term and there was still plenty to do. The kids had lots of fun with the pools and the beach was gorgeous. Good choices in the restaurant and a decent standard of food. Lots of choice at the bar and the local shop catered for everyone.

Review 124:Beds to hard Lack of toilet utilities Floors not clean enough Charge to phone a Taxi

Review 125:Facilities Staff Location Food Picturesque & Landscaped

Review 126:It is a little out,but that adds to it's charm.Hotel food isn't great choice or value, but acceptable.Would benefit from some kids activities & even a few adults ones!

Review 127:We love it here, great staff, lovely premises, great surroundings.Food in the bar is good.Entertainment is ok in the village bar area.We have been 6 times & will return.

Review 128:We only ate in the restaurant one night, and were disappointed. We're not big fans of buffets and we didn't try it again. But we enjoyed the nightly trips into Albufeira so didn't mind. The hotel was therefore quiet at night. But lunch at the pool bar was good so the hotel provided all we needed during the day.

Review 129:Our kids (age 10 and 8) absolutely loved this hotel - and we did too! My parents were also with us and they really enjoyed the holiday. The pool and soccer pitch were brilliant - kids mad lots of friends. The beach was very accessible by steps, although steep, or by road. The apartment was excellent. The hotel was spotless with really lovely decor and art. Everything we needed was close to hand. The mini market had all we needed including freshly baked bread for breakfast. We never had more than a few minutes wait for a taxi for our evening trips into the lovely restaurants and family ambience of Albufeira old town.

Review 130:Still no WiFi in the rooms! Really in the 21st century! It's time to take a leaf out of other hotels and provide the service inclusive of the room rate.

Review 131:Great pool area, good room, well worth paying the extra for a Superior room for the decor and great view.

Review 132:Why can't DVD players be provided?

Review 133:Good value, great suite, best playground and pool I've seen in a while and I was on a girlie break! A bit far out from Old Town, €8 each way in Taxi but overall would highly recommend it

Review 134:Hard to find fault I think this hotel has got the facilities spot on for a family orientated hotel. Only improvement would be maybe a soft play inside area for poorer weather as we were unfortunate enough to have 4 days of rain and struggled to amuse kids.

Review 135:Though this was a lovely and well equiped hotel and apartment complex. Loved the shallow/safe toddler pool and choice of Larger pools. Hotel was very clean with nice decor throughout. Would reccomend and hope to return!
