Reviews for Marriott Hotel The Hague

Review 1:The hotel was under construction, with blocked off, unfinished areas and bare bits everywhere. We were given a room that was under construction – no linens, no fittings in the toilet, pipes and wires on the floor, no taps in the sink or shower... This was sorted, but only after the newly arrived guests, i.e. those who arrived after us, were settled. The wifi was dodgy, the beds were rock hard with mean, thin mattress toppers that went no way towards making them comfortable. The duvets were hot, heavy nylon with no option of an ameliorating top sheet or lighter blanket, yet in spite of pure polyester linens, there were no non-feather pillows available, anywhere, at all. In spite of repeated attempts, no one ever answered the phone in housekeeping, concierge or reception. The toilet had no water (we turned it on ourselves after isolating the problem when no one answered calls), but happily ever we eventually managed to get it to flush – a cause for no small celebration as it had been indescribably filthy from a previous user. This 'new' room had a small, odd selection of toiletries that was replaced with a large one for our second night. We were, however, only allocated one bathrobe and one pair of slippers, in spite of the room booked for and clearly occupied by two people. There was nothing in the fridge, though a mini bar assortment was on sale in the lobby... a small godsend for some, perhaps, as the hotel restaurant/bar was already closed by 9:30pm. Neither coffee nor tea were replenished after the first morning and the cups were washed but extremely badly and left with stains and bits in and on them.

Review 2:There wasn't much to like.

Review 3:room was dirty (lot of dust) no parking place and I managed to put my car somewhere but had to pay € 8,50 for parking for the 3 hours I slept there. poor water from the shower.

Review 4:not too expensive

Review 5:Currently going through a noisy renovation. Lots of changes that seem to put the comfort and convenience of guests behind the convenience of hotel staff - e.g. no min-bar; no tea and coffee facilities in room, etc. I used to really like this hotel, but I will look for an alternative on my next trip to the area.

Review 6:Good location, friendly staff.

Review 7:The buttons of the lift in the lobby were very dufficult to handle.

Review 8:Many other people in the hotel gave me a good opportunity to make acquaintance. The staff was very kind.

Review 9:It's very very noisy right now!

Review 10:The hotel is being taken over by the Marriott so massive renovations are happening right now. The hotel will look chicer and more modern.

Review 11:There was a lot of construction going on. For an international traveler - who needed to sleep during the day from time to time - it was challenging. Plus, no advance warning about all of the construction.

Review 12:The staff service was excellent.

Review 13:The internet connections was atrocious - particularly for a business hotel! The front desk staff were not very knowledgeable about local attractions or services. Also, the key to my room wouldn't work on many occasions - very frustrating as I had to return to the front desk, via slow elevator, to have it re-activated.

Review 14:The breakfast was nice and the breakfast staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 15:Coffee capsules were not replenished before my arrival nor during the stay. When I asked for them, they brought them with no problem.

Review 16:Staff friendliness Ample room Breakfast: plentiful and varied

Review 17:The room I stayed in was quite dated and there were no tea or coffee making facilities (there was a kettle but no cups, teabags, coffee sachets etc) The hotel is undergoing extensive refurbishment at the moment and this made it a little difficult to get around the hotel. It also caused disruption to the meetings and courses I was attending in the hotel. The staff and managers were very helpful however and did everything they could to lessen the impact.

Review 18:The staff were excellent and very polite, helpful and friendly throughout my stay. The food was also tasty and of good quality.

Review 19:Severe lack of toilets for a conference facility Crazy and unreliable lifts and no stairs alternative to access the ground floor No food available after 10pm Hotel was being demolished while we stayed there. Extreme noise from 7am every day.

Review 20:Food

Review 21:Bathroom (door peeling, no lock) could have been renovated; didn't really detract from our visit.

Review 22:Convenient location between beach and city. Good breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff at reception desk. Room with a view, all conveniences (coffee machine, mini-bar, free wifi), and quiet!

Review 23:noisy: Even in the last room, I could hear the bathrooms from the neighborhood rooms. The risotto at the restaurant was very salty. Not talking about the booking service which didn't want to hear anything when I realised I booked in the wrong hotel (because my reservation was with specific condition of course. So the fault is mine).

Review 24:The bed was great. common and a bit old fashioned But comfortable

Review 25:The hotel is located slightly out of the city centre (albeit close to Scheveningen and the beach).

Review 26:Very nice and attentive staff. Value for money is really good. The spaciousness and comfort of the room definitely made up for the (slightly) less central location of the hotel. The hotel is located in a nice area (with lots of embassies).

Review 27:Hotel needs updating and some general renovation. Hotel corridors look like they're from the Shining :p

Review 28:Bike rental on spot, friendly staff and very nice view of the sea from the panoramic suite. Good breakfast (book the room with breakfast included - costs less than on spot).

Review 29:Superb value for a weekend break, I recommend going for the suite for just a little more over a standard room. Location ideal in the heart of the diplomatic/residence district midway between the city centre and Scheveningen Beach, both just a short (~10-15 mins) tram ride away. Staff were everything you would hope for, accommodating, friendly and willing to help. Sarah the Maitre 'd especially lovely and a smiling face and engaging chat each day at breakfast, which we found excellent and varied. The Hague proved a good location with its many areas of interest but it was also a good base for a day trip to Amsterdam which can be reached by Inter City train in around 35-40 minutes. The Bel Air location was quiet and restful and the room standard was high quality with Nespresso coffee making facilities as well as a microwave in the kitchenette. WiFi is free and the broadband speed was very good. Overall it made the weekend break that extra bit special and we will hopefully return again in the near future.

Review 30:They have different type of rooms, some a bit outdated and other new. Once they gave me the new one, which was excellent, but this time I got the old one, which was not. Be careful what they give you. A long walk to go to the center, but in 30 min on foot you are there

Review 31:The restaurant is ok. Parking is expensive (20 Euro) but just opposite the Hotel.

Review 32:The room and its bathroom were too old. Wifi disconnected every 10 minutes. The towel of a previous guest was hanging behind the bathroom door. The towels smelt too strongly of bleach. Hotel far away from the city center. No tea/coffee maker in the room. Breakfast way too expensive: 20EU pp!!! The room was way too expensive for what it offered.

Review 33:The quietness of the room. Nice view from the window.

Review 34:House keeping insist on cleaning your room at around 9am, and keep on making vacuum noises in the hallway, which can be inconvenient for someone who is trying to relax a little during that time. They also ignored the "Don't disturb sign" and came in to find me sleeping, woke me up and left!

Review 35:I really liked the quality of the place, the friendly staff on duty.

Review 36:Difficult to warm properly the room. Parkig fee of 20 euros per day on top of the room definitively too expensive.

Review 37:Comfort of the room: very big and clean. WIFI for free. Small gym present in the hotel.

Review 38:Parking expensive, no pool, water for showering in "Eco modus"( not enough water)

Review 39:Nice Large rooms, breakfast ok, not the absolute best ever but still ok and nice atmosphere, Parking 20eur

Review 40:The interior of the room was a bit old - hairdryers from the 90's (looked that way). The beakfast buffet didn't have that much to offer. But again, non of these are deal breakers.

Review 41:Top location. Great and helpful staff. Nice view from the upper floors.

Review 42:Old-fashioned hotel for those who like the 60's flair. Bathroom interior old and worn-out. Expected more of the brand Bel Air!

Review 43:Location in The Hague.

Review 44:The price for the parking during all day is definitively too expensive. It shall be given for free for the hosts of the hotel.

Review 45:Our room was exactly as in the picture, big and with all conforts. It was a calm room, never heard any special noise. The gym was small but good enough to do some practise. Personnel was keen to help for any problems.

Review 46:The expensive parking at the hotel, which is cheaper next door and free across the road Disappointing value of the breakfast

Review 47:Ability to rent a bicycle at the hotel Closeness to beach, shopping area, museum and other activities

Review 48:Our room and whole floor was outdated, but seems in line with the price. Pillows were not comfy at all, very tiny, more a cushion than a pillow.

Review 49:Nice view from 8th floor. Some staff members were very very nice. Nice location if you have a car, close to cit and beach

Review 50:The location is a little bit far from the center, but easily to go with tram and bus. Facilities are quite old. The breakfast room is too small to have so many guests....

Review 51:Very friendly staff, price include breakfast, clean and comfortable bed.

Review 52:The wifi was terrible and the room was cold.

Review 53:The concierge was wonderful and incredibly generous. He offered to drive me and my luggage and my bike in the pouring rain to my new apartment. It was true gentlemanly service.

Review 54:Room with many stains on the floor , with hair everywhere in the toilet, dirty. Tee and coffee not there either. Problems with parking. Bed so uncomfortable that we slept without the matress. Will never come back again. If it has 4 stars it must be a mistake!!!

Review 55:There used to be trams stopping near the hotel. Now public transport is not that easy as the stops are at some distance..

Review 56:Its a good business hotel near international organisations..

Review 57:The room looked a bit old (walls need some renovation). The hairdryer is really old and not working well. Didn't like the fitted carpet in the room (causing a bit of allergy).

Review 58:Nice and very silent room on the 9th floor with a wonderful view on the park and the city. Bed and bathroom OK. Lots of space for storage. Perfect position for attending conferences at the World Forum. Located 15min by tram (line 1 or 17) from the city center.

Review 59:The room was too warm. Kept us awake. Air co, if any, not sufficient. Parking will raise price by 20€/day

Review 60:Location. "Breakfast included" made up for additional price for parking

Review 61:I asked for a sea view, but was given a view over trees. The bar closed at 1am and was not open in the afternoon when we wanted to get a drink before the wedding, however we were served in the restaurant.

Review 62:It was quiet, clean and comfortable with a generous sized bath and a good breakfast. Very convenient for the Museums where I was attending a wedding and easy to hop on a tram into the centre.

Review 63:The Hotel's staff (especially at the from desk) is not friendly atall. A smile sometimes could help to improve the experience. They treatyou like they are doing you a favour while listening to you, instead oftheir work. However, it's not easy to find customer-oriented staffin the whole Netherlands, not only at this Hotel.

Review 64:This hotel is a good choice for anybody on a business trip to some ofthe Institutions in the City like opcw or Europol. It's nicelylocated within walking distance to and from tram 1 and 17, and fromnumerous shops and restaurants. Rooms are nice and clean, although theylack some features like, for example, a kettle.

Review 65:Wifi was very weak and unstable specialy in evenings.

Review 66:Good room, big and clear! Very comfortable bed. Room equipment include coffee machine. That was awsome in mornings. Good view on Museon, Den Haag and sea.

Review 67:Nothing mentionable, but I expected complementary room tea/coffee and water bottle.

Review 68:The room was fine I liked it. Extra bed provided for my daughter was really an excellent arrangement.

Review 69:The check in was at 14.00 and they gave us a room at 15.30 without any kind of apologies. The pictures are not from the hotel but from the surrounding area (including the gardens from the palace). Transportation is very expensive so being far from the city center can be problematic. Staff was discourteous.

Review 70:The room is clean. The location if you don't want to be disturbed is fine.

Review 71:The staff were friendly and helpful from tge receptionist to the chambermaids. Very clean and comfortable abd apprecuated the excellent tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Review 72:The bed size was a bit small for couple with small children

Review 73:Room was large and clean. The service and breakfast were great. And the price is good too as We got a genius discount via booking.com.

Review 74:They charge for car parking 20 EUR/day which was not clearly stated in booking conditions --> this leaves a bit bad taste. Apart from that everything was very good.

Review 75:Location, food, clean rooms, stuff was helpfull

Review 76:WiFi was slow and spotty. Rooms some what outdated but comfortable and the wall mounted hairdryer was straight out of the 70s and overheats in your hand!

Review 77:Staff was very friendly, helpful and even booked our trip to the Keukenhof for us! Breakfast had everything you would want from fresh juice and pastries to scrambled eggs and bacon.

Review 78:The battery in the door lock stopped working so the keycard didn't unlock door. Instead if fixing it or moving my room I had to have a member of staff unlock the door every time for me.

Review 79:Location for meetings, good internet

Review 80:kicking the clients around seems to be the hotel policy. They ask you cumulatively to leave your credit card data, pay on the arrival and deposit 50 euro cash "just in case". They look surprised when, in face of such a contempt towards the clients, you ask them upon departure to fill the statement of no claims. Deux poids, deux mesures. I advise all clients to request from Worldhotels company the no claims statement. If not, it's the client risk.

Review 81:espresso in the room, nice thing in the morning.

Review 82:Very poor WIFI, did got better next day. But is was impossible to work from there. Breakfast expensive at 20 euro.

Review 83:The personal were friendly and very efficiency.

Review 84:Reception asked for an extra €50 on arrival as a deposit. That was not in the small print. As I did not have it they emptied the mini-bar. They must have thought I was going to steal it all!!! Rather unpleasant. It is unlikely that I will stay there again.

Review 85:Breakfast was very good.

Review 86:1) The hotel is not located at the city center, and there are no restaurants or cafe in the neighborhood. The hotel restaurant serves only few dishes, and the main dishes are like starters with extremely small portion. 2) The parking space in the hotel is open to public, and when we arrived around noon we couldn't find a parking space.

Review 87:1) Breakfast was good. 2) Location is close to some tourist attractions.

Review 88:While eating you hadvea view at the parkingplace. Let grow the hedges 30 cm more and the problem is solved.

Review 89:I enjoyed The food and the ambiance; Fresh flowers beautiful paintings....

Review 90:Breakfast was really nice, however on weekends it finishes at 10.30 which in my opinion is a bit early if you want to sleep and rest. This lead to a very busy sunday morning and lots of lines waiting for the food and drinks as to a bit of trouble finding a table to sit.

Review 91:Everything was perfect. We enjoyed our stay very much. I would come back.

Review 92:The low booking rate baffled the reception staff, who kept trying to figure it out by adding to the bill services that were already included in the room rate (breakfast, city tax). I had to show them the booking email as proof for the low rate :) In the end everything worked out fine. Wireless was decent, but not perfect, I think there is a paying option for a better service. Expect to pay for everything awaiting in your room, including the water bottles, and they are not cheap :)

Review 93:Good location, more of a diplomatic area, a 20 minute tram ride to the center, clean room, large window, good view (not so great in winter though), good temperature in the room, bath tub in the bathroom, free toiletries smelling really nice and a great breakfast. Our rate was also pretty awesome, it even puzzled the reception staff (62 euro/night incl. breakfast, excl. city tax)

Review 94:Parking is a bit expensive but it appears to be the normal price for parking in Den Haag

Review 95:Nice Staff, very spacious room with coffee & tea facilities. Good breakfast. Overall very nice experience.

Review 96:Soft matress. Hard pillows.

Review 97:Located neat international organizations, the beach and museums. Close to public transport. Excellent wi-fi. . Very good quality toiletries.

Review 98:Nothing negative to report.

Review 99:Upon a very late Christmas night check-in, we were given an upgrade to a suite and a bag of chocolates. The staff were very friendly, the room was spacious, modern and clean. Nespresso machine in the room and bathrobes.

Review 100:Rooms poorly insulated, can hear the wind howling with the windows fully closed. Very old bathroom (1970's style). WIFI constantly knocks you off line. Restaurant offering quite poor. A bit of a walk to the nearest tram.

Review 101:Same location as my conference.

Review 102:- They charge you during check-in - Rooms were spacious but old. - Rooms were cold at night. - Breakfast is too expensive. - No hot drink

Review 103:- Location is convenient if you are attending OPWC meetings or conferences held in World Forum. - If you want to see the city, it takes more than half an hour on foot. - Nice bar for evening drinks.

Review 104:This hotel needs a facelift, the corridors and decor are gloomy and almost 70s in style (and not in a good way either) No free bottle of water in the room and no tea/coffee making stuff is scandalous!

Review 105:but it is so tired and old fashioned. Breakfast is cramped but good food.

Review 106:no coffe /tea maker.

Review 107:it was few minutes walk from world forum , where the conference was . not far from tram station. near an area with some shop,restaurants,....

Review 108:In the room the first night, we didn't like the soft, narrow beds. Another problem for me were the short curtains. (For me) too much light came in.

Review 109:I liked very very much the suite we got the second night of our stay. I don't know whether the beds in this room were harder but I judged them to be better. We also appreciated the long curtains. That it was very quiet in the appartment considered we as a great asset!

Review 110:We caught the tram to the nearest stop to the hotel. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily, and we weren't sure of the hotels location. We rang the hotel for directions which was fine as we arrived during daylight, but if was Dark,it would have been a lot more difficult.

Review 111:On arrival,my girlfriend and I had arrived from Amsterdam that weekend on the train after a flight from Ireland. Being quite weary, The warm welcome and efficient check in was great. We had come to see the Fireworks competition that weekend at the beach nearby. Our room was spacious and the bed really comfortable. The view over the nearby park and museum was picturesque. The breakfast buffet had a wonderful choice to suit all tastes. All in all, a lovely break in a good hotel.

Review 112:Clean, comfortable , some of the best hotel food I have had. I ate most of my meals there. Staff was wonderful, especially Maat. They have an onsite library, bikes and scooter available to rent for the day. Beautiful location and close to lovely park.

Review 113:Surcharges: 19.50 Euros for a car in the empty car park over night and 20.00 Euros per person for breakfast doesn't create a friendly atmosphere.

Review 114:Very professional staff

Review 115:Lady at the reception lied about not having a baby cot. Once we complained - she found that literally within 30 seconds and by the time we got to a room (3-4 minutes) it was already there! Also, charged a 2-year old child for breakfast, which is ridiculous in my opinion. Bad experience - would not recommend the hotel.

Review 116:Clean, good breakfast, great cocktails and the barman.

Review 117:In my opinion the hotel is far from the beach if you have to use a public transport

Review 118:Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, fast wi-fi in the room. Tram station is 3 mins away

Review 119:The cleaning lady came to our rooms 2 hours before the check out time (at noon at the latest) and asked us to move to another room (we booked 2 connected rooms) so she could clean the other room. We were upset with her behaviour but we were ready to leave anyway even though it was in a hurry. Other than this, it was a happy stay.

Review 120:Parking fee is to high, in nearby you can find free parking slot without problem if you can walk few minutes. On sunday we had too crowdy breakfast, everyone seems wanted to have it between 9 and 10AM

Review 121:Nice hotel, central location, good breakfast. For a special price would stay there again.

Review 122:The hotel is quite dated and the rooms were small for the price. The wifi logged out continuously.

Review 123:The staff were lovely and extremely accommodating. I left a book in the hotel and they posted it back to me which was greatly appreciated. The went out of their way to help people.

Review 124:I had the impression that the breakfast menu on Sunday were the left over from the week. A lot of things we could have for breakfast were not offered on Sunday anymore.

Review 125:clean room, nice view, tram to Scheveningen or into the city center The Hague were nearby, friendly staff

Review 126:Parking and breakfast way too expensive. no food/drink to take away around (unless we just did not find it)

Review 127:Service and room excellent. Easy to find and park. Public transport easy to take.

Review 128:Breakfast pricey

Review 129:Reception staff attitude was not pleasant

Review 130:vending machine did not work

Review 131:service and clean environment

Review 132:The reception staff was not always helpful or polite

Review 133:The cook for breakfast was wonderful and helped me with my dietary needs. Am deeply grateful

Review 134:Being double charged for my room, and waiting over six weeks to be refunded.

Review 135:Nothing

Review 136:The internet was slow you had to reconnect all the time

Review 137:Not applicable

Review 138:Location

Review 139:Old furniture.

Review 140:Location and staff.
