Reviews for Hampshire Hotel - Babylon Den Haag

Review 1:If you need to park a car, find out where you can do it before going because the parking garage under the mall (and hotel) Babylon is the most expensive in The Hague. Also, there isn't an elevator from the garage to the hotel. You need to go to the street before finding the entrance to the hotel. The reception / entrance of the hotel desperately needs some attention..it looked like the entrance of an office building.

Review 2:The view from the top floors is captivating. It is perfectly located to visit The Hague but also other cities (the train station is just two minutes away).

Review 3:No gym or pool, quite small upgraded room, no master light switch, no luggage stand or floor space by wardrobes, so have to dry cases (always rains in The Hague) before unpacking on bed

Review 4:Nice modern and comfortable and quiet. Next to train station. Good staff, efficient check in and out, Aqequate speed on free wifi.

Review 5:The restaurant menu is a bit limited, but many restaurants within comfortable walking distance.

Review 6:Firm bed with good cushions. Very convenient location close to town and public transport. Large and comfortable room. Convenient parking.

Review 7:Friendly,helpful staff. Central location. Easy walk into town with shops and restaurants and historical buildings. Trams nearby to beach and trains to Delft etc.

Review 8:Lightning in the room, far to dark. Had to get staff arrange extra lamps after they suggested also to keave bathroom door open as rooms ten te be dark. We ended up with bying own bulbs so we could read in the small living.

Review 9:Centrally located in the Hague near public transport and motorway.

Review 10:(1)All corridor noises are heard.(2)Room was dark. It does not have enough lighting.(3)Shower head water streams were sharp and scattered.(4)No spa nor gym in the hotel. You have to use the ones in the mall.(5)No phone by the bed night stand. I had to get up everytime to use the one on the room table.

Review 11:(1)Location is within walking distance to the train/tram station and central market.(2)Very clean room and bathroom.(3)Free & fast WIFI.(4)Spacious room.(5)Hotel is attached to a mall.

Review 12:I can not think of one bad thing to report about this hotel. I wish all hotels were as efficient and all staff as polite and helpful. A big 'well done' to all Staff and Management. A truly delightful experience.

Review 13:The service was amazing. Check in was a dream. The room was just beautiful and having asked for a quiet room, we got that. As it was a birthday celebration, they put balloons in the room and invited us for a complimentary drink in the bar. Overall it was a really fantastic stay

Review 14:Only negative I found is the noise to close door, I end up waking up around 7 as next door people are in and out for breakfast, even I was planning to sleep in, having 12:00 check out worth only half by that...but this is easy enough to fix, so hope getting better next time.

Review 15:Super location, nice bright room with big window/balcony. not too big, not too small. Also you can take all advantage of the station facility.

Review 16:The cange of the main entrance to the lobby which is facing the mainroad and the entrance in the back to the shopping mall

Review 17:Wonderful room and it is right near the main train station. Also the fact that it is in walking distance to town centre

Review 18:The interior of the room was a bit dated with clear signs of wear. That made it slightly less cosy.

Review 19:The location is excellent near the central station and the city center. Despite this central location, the room was nice and quiet. The bathroom was exceptionally clean.

Review 20:Had to park in a mall parking lot, but they did give me a parking coupon.

Review 21:Close to my location, nice staff, for some reason my room got upgraded, nice bath, comfy bed.

Review 22:The hotel was lacking basic facilities like soap and room was very cold as I couldn't turn off the air conditioning off so I had to get a heater from the reception. Also found out that rate given to me by booking.com was 20% more expensive than the walk in rate the hotel was charging. Also breakfast was definitely not value for money.

Review 23:Location, space, lighting and bed comfort

Review 24:- You cannot open the window of the room - Continuous ventilation sound in the room

Review 25:- Great location, near the central station and the city centre - Nice hotel with a good restaurant - Possibility to have a business meeting in the restaurant

Review 26:A pleasant stay for one night. The hotel is closed to the central station (walking in 10 minutes), which is convenient for travelers who have to catch up a train in early morning.

Review 27:Breakfast: minimal, but expensive

Review 28:The location is close to the central station (Dem Haag Centraal) and to the city centre. Staff is polite and helping. Rooms are quite big

Review 29:The fact that there wasn't kind of a business center to be anle to print out docs or go on the computer even if paid. They can have maybe one PC in the waiting area for guests. They helped though with printing so that wasn't a problem but with a shared computet it would be even better

Review 30:The reception staff was very very friendly and helpfull service was excellent

Review 31:menu a bit limited, breakfast poor and crowded on Sunday i was there. room a bit gloomy and dull decoration. Wifi poor, free but needed to be! kept having to reconnect and re-authenticate on a free service?? not business class

Review 32:location

Review 33:No loyalty membership in Hampshire hotels. I stayed in 6 of them during my visit to the Netherlands and wanted to register for a membership but they only provide it for business reservations. Breakfast wasn't included.

Review 34:Spacious room, comfortable bed, central location, helpful friendly staff, nice view, big new bathroom. I had an upgrade.

Review 35:Wifi was limited to only one device, parking was extremely expensive with only a very small discount for hotel guests . Paintings in room were dusty.

Review 36:Location was good for my purposes.

Review 37:In case you are offered a room on the 6th floor, be aware that those are much smaller than any others. We were offered a room, which was obviously designed as a single and then an additional bed was pushed in. After complaining and waiting, we were given another room.

Review 38:Free Wi-Fi very slow, bed not great.

Review 39:Easy location, reasonable value (although didn't included breakfast). Fine for a business trip, not great for a weekend break.

Review 40:Carpets were grubby in rooms. A twin room with one reading lamp on one side of the bed, would that be because it wasn't meant as a twin perhaps?

Review 41:Staff were excellent. Bath was appreciated by my wife and daughters.

Review 42:Lovely staff very helpful very clean hotel we just loved it we were visit our grandsons just outside the Hague the hotel had everything we needed and will go again

Review 43:No BAD experiences, but, opportunity to sit in comfortable chairs and read was marred by dim mood lighting, even in standard lamp by a chair. Also, odd lighting in the bathroom: a bright light under a low shelf lighting the basin and low-wattage lamps by the mirror.

Review 44:Large suite with sitting area, coffee and tea-making facilities, position next to Central station. Universally, staff were charming and helpful.

Review 47:I didn´t like that I was forced to upgrade because they couldn´t give me a baby crib in the normal room - especially when it says in the hotel booklet in your room that they will give you a baby cot at no extra price!

Review 48:The location and the staff was great.

Review 49:Very small room for two people, more like for 1, wanted separate beds, got not, bathroom functions design.

Review 50:Hotel in the center of the town, by the central station, last-minute room good for the price, free drink when reservation systems were down, sound-protected windows, very good sleeping when closed although very rush outside.

Review 51:- bed cabinets have sharp edges like knives - they charge for late check out per hr - poor breakfast, way too expensive

Review 52:- spacious room - comfortable bed - great location

Review 53:We stayed for 3 nights. Had a free upgrade, staff were friendly and helpful and the location perfect. Fridge in room and tea and coffee making facilities made it possible to have simple meals in the room if necessary. Good sized room. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 54:Room was a bit small. We were supposed to have a small bar/refrigerator included but it wasn't there. They accommodated us for an early arrival/booking and it was very much appreciated.

Review 55:There was nothing bad about my experience but the wi-fi could have been better (but it was free).

Review 56:I have stayed here before and the was happy to book here again. The locatin is right next to CS and a short walk to the centre of town. The number 9 tram to the beach is a minutes walk away. The staff are nice, polite and speak excellent English.

Review 57:Perfectly located for food outlets, shopping and Railway/Tram stations. Pleasant and warm welcome by reception and restaurant staff Fitted the budget

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:I have stayed here before and enjoyed it. The staff is very helpful and accommodating with info about tramcards, sightseeing etc. Everyone at the desk is always polite and welcoming! The hotel itself is clean and comfortable. The location is unbeatable as it is next to the train station and just a few minutes' walk from sightseeing.

Review 60:- service, it tooks really longtime before we could check in, they were 3 employees, non communicated that they had issues with their system

Review 61:- location 1 min away from the train station and 10 min walk from city center - good size room and quiet

Review 62:modern comfortable hotel. Excellent staff. Close for parking and transport and short walk in to heart of city. Lovely park opposite for those that like a walk/run in morning/evening

Review 63:Such a dark room. Would not want it again. How many women don't wear makeup? Hotel bathrooms should have facilities for easy application of makeup. Good lighting at a minimum. Very poor lighting in bathroom and ridiculous design with shelf directly above and protruding over basin. Basin highlighted with lights but who wants to crouch at end of bath to apply makeup? Air conditioning not working. Shaving mirror missing - metal stand remaining! One single wine glass in room which hotel says is what they normally provide? No milk for tea or coffee. Hotel says we should have contacted them immediately about things which were not right. It was late at night and really we didn't want someone in room repairing air con.

Review 64:Bed was lovely and comfortable

Review 65:The hotel needs attention to maintenance. Although it is kept clean, the faucet leaked, the carpeting was coming loose and the room was quite cramped.

Review 66:Convenient location and very pleasant staff.

Review 67:Best pillows I've ever experienced The items in the minibar were actually reasonably priced Superb location Breakfast was perfect, they had exactly what I wanted

Review 68:The wall paper in the room is in need of repair.

Review 69:The hotel is right next to The Hague Central Station. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The view of the park from the restaurant is splendid. We had a beautiful and new bathroom with a tub.

Review 70:Elderly people like ourselves do not like the shower over the bath. Its Slippery and dangerous. My wife complained about inadequate lighting over the mirror to put on make up

Review 71:Convenience and very comfortable bed

Review 72:It's starting to be a bit run down. After many years of service, the carpets desperately need changing. The room service menu, while having huge portions, doesn't offer a whole lot of choice and the TV entertainment is limited to a set of fixed TV channels (no VOD or similar).

Review 73:The hotel is in an ideal location for staying in Den Haag, right next to the central train station. It's reasonably priced and it offers a pleasant atmosphere for your stay.

Review 74:Breakfast is a little bit expensive. Handsink is too close to the toilet table...have to INSERT my head to the space between them when brushing my teeth or washing my faces....anyone. this is almost the only thing we don't like. really poor design and hope the hotel could improve it.

Review 75:It's just 2 mins walk from the central station but is extremely quiet. The design of hotel is really modern with all new facilities. Staff is also very friendly. Large room with sofa. Big bathroom and separate toilet.

Review 76:Bathtub is quite high so hard to get into. They could use some anti slip stickers to make it safer.

Review 77:comfortable bed and pillows, size of room is perfect, having a fridge is a huge plus. The view was great too, as well as the location. A supermarket in mall next door is handy.

Review 78:the bed was rather hard and the room was quite warm. I could not lower the temperature by using the ac device.

Review 79:Located right next to Central Station The Hague, close to all the sightseeing and shopping areas. A good shopping centre attached to the hotel.

Review 80:No toilettery in the bathroom:only soap dispencer. Very poor Breakfast could be improved ..

Review 81:The position Very close to The Train station but only 5 minute Walking to Mauritzhuis and city center. The courtesy of the staff

Review 82:expensive.requested room in quieter area been given one on bottom floor and windows facing to street ,when you close windows is okay but if you want it keep open not very good.air conditioning noisy and not able to switch it off or reduce heat .ate just once but was okay .rooms spacious but too dark interior .charge 50 euros deposit and not very bothered to explain for what .queen to check in .

Review 83:location near train station and town centre . in room coffee tea making .

Review 84:Two beds pushed together instead of a proper double bed, couldn't adjust heating so it made a noise and was too hot all night. Cost of breakfast was ridiculous!!

Review 85:Good location, nice and quiet, handy for everything we wanted to do.

Review 86:This is a very central hotel in The Hague. We arrived in Schiphol Airport and got a train which brought us to the hotel which is beside Den Haag Centraal Station and our room was ready before 11.00 am.

Review 87:1. Morning shift reception service (Female) is awesome;-))) 2. Night shift reception (Male) very very bad service:-((((

Review 88:It was a bit cool in the room but it was compensated by a heater offered by staff straight away, so it was no issue after all

Review 89:Service was great, it was a nice unexpected surprise in Holland to hear yes rather than no to my first request, in fact i didn't even have to ask, they already proposed a solution. I was sincerely impressed to have that level of service not in a 5 star hotel

Review 90:There was a balcony going around, my friend had a peek from a neighbour. The breakfast was overpriced.

Review 91:Great location, very nice staff, comfortable bathroom.

Review 92:The bed was shaky and the balcony that goes along various rooms was strange since persons from the rooms next to yours can come into your balcony.

Review 93:Quiet, clean, stylish rooms with all the necessary amenities (have to ask for iron if needed), including tea and coffee in the room. Nice restaurant both for a meal and just a tea in the evening. Despite the proximity to the station the hotel is very quiet.

Review 94:'Free wifi' is misleading - high speed internet costs extra. The standard rooms are small for a 4* hotel. Some are also very dark, because of the balconies above. Hotel charges €30 deposit for room.

Review 95:Good breakfast. Superior room good size. Staff helpful.

Review 96:Only difficult thing was finding the hotel from the car park, but that was only 50m.

Review 97:Location , facilities nearby. Restaurant was ok. Room was excellent.

Review 98:Airconditioning was a bit noisy. No possibility to turn off. One elevator was broken for already 3 days

Review 99:Charming reception lady who understood her job perfectly. Very fast check in, no unnecessary questions. Also at check out, perfect. Location is nice, next to central station

Review 100:Price was ok, but honestly, this doesn't include city tax which was another 4-5 euros per person per night. On top of that, don't forget there is a 50 euro deposit in general and for the minibar (which we removed afterwards to make space for our own stuff).

Review 101:Comfortable, spacious enough, clean, friendly and very professional.

Review 102:TV; limited access to the news such as BBC CNN, which were supporsed to be in service according to their TV program. Shower screen; broken

Review 103:The location is exceptional in terms of central train station just next to this hotel. This makes your access from airport, Amsterdam, you name it, extremely easy by train. Nice accessibility is also nice to the city center, around 10 minutes walk. The room we stayed is wide enough as well as clean and so to say comfortable. Breakfast is what-we-could-expect-level but satisfied.

Review 104:room maybe a little cold and couldent alter thermostat .

Review 105:nice hotel , good sized room lovely and clean boutiquey decor , perfect for train station and easy walk in to the centre for bars and restaurants. good value for this standard of hotel i would say and definately recommend and use again .

Review 106:Brown curtains, brown carpets, brown furniture. Its is starting to feel outdated..

Review 107:Perfect Location, especially when traveling by public transport Staff is good and takes care of customers

Review 108:price of the parking garage en no indication how to walk from there to the hotel with your suitcase

Review 109:location of the hotel, comfort of the room and good staff

Review 110:Let down by a really STUPID shelf over the sink that made it impossible to wash your face without either banging your face on the shelf or pouring rinsing water all over the floor. A real irritant!

Review 111:Rooms, breakfast, restaurant, location all VG

Review 112:The lighting in the room was terrible - don't expect to be able to sit and read. The TV in the bedroom area didn't work.

Review 113:Great location - right outside the train station and only a few minutes walk into the town centre. I was lucky enough to be upgraded for free to a suite.

Review 114:Heaters are turned off on Sunday nights, but they brought us a fan heater. The room was much smaller than the last time we stayed. The shower was unmoveable which was inconvenient.

Review 115:We got great service in the restaurant with an excellent server/bartender. He showed me the wine so I could know the name.

Review 116:They didn't accept booking.com price and they charge 10 euro more plus city tax. They ask me about 50 euro deposit for no reason (empty minibar in the room not even water). Room very small and not at all comfortable. Super pricey (more than 160 euro for one night). Absolutely out of market...

Review 117:Just position... :O

Review 118:My room had an outside balcony, the door of which was broken, this could not be repaired and I was allocated another room.

Review 119:Location, quite, close to train & tram stations. Ask for a high floor as these are away from the road noise.

Review 120:Carpets in rooms are distressed - its agood 7 years snce rooms have had a makoever and its beginning to show

Review 121:Location better now with mall next door. Always a convenient stop-over if late arrival to Central Station

Review 122:Breakfast is a joke - let alone for the money. Staff is slow and borderline rude. Overall seems that quality has declined

Review 123:Location, bed is good, a/c fully controllable

Review 124:Poor lighting in room; Unable to turn off the climate control system - it switched between the radiators heating the room and the air conditioning cooling it all through the night; Small portion-sizes in the restaurant; Liquid soap/shower-gel dispensers.

Review 125:Location adjacent to the train station

Review 126:For a 4* hotel, it is very basic ! Not even a pair sleeper in the room. There was nobody at the reception when we were collecting our luggage, we had to wait, when one turns up , another wait to find our luggage and our taxi was waiting all this time heading for the airport.

Review 127:The hotel is clean.

Review 128:Distance between hotel and garage, very inconvenient with heavy bagage, long walk, especially at night, scary. Double bed here means two beds with one bottom sheet. Poor shower. Unclear how their ' subject to availability' policy actually works.

Review 129:Bottle of wine in room as apology for 'miscommunication'. Nice gesture, but I don't go to hotels for free wine, I'd prefer things to be as advertised or agreed.

Review 130:- TV services is not efficient. Movies won't rewind or fast forward. - Poor breakfast buffet. Flies were hovering over the fruit salad bar.

Review 131:- Location is great. right next to the denhaag centraal station.

Review 132:Couldn't find the front door on arrival. Not obvious when exiting the mall. Assumed the hotel entrance was in the shopping mall.

Review 133:Stylish, comfortable large room. Location excellent, easy walking distance to centre.

Review 134:Did t like the fact they place an authorisation but when doing so add a deposit of €50eur that was not advised at the time of check in and was only advised of this when the authorisation price was queried

Review 135:I was a little disappointed by the head waiter in the hotel restaurant. He appeared very dismissive of us. The housekeeping staff did not check our soap and body wash dispenser, that was a problem on an occasion.

Review 136:Staff were brilliant.. My husband was very unwell when we reached the hotel. The front office staff made every effort to get an appointment at a local medical clinic. They were relaxed and always ready to smile and assist. Our room was great. Close to the city centre and trains buses and trams. Further it was very quiet in the hotel.

Review 137:Air conditioner was blowing cold wind all night, not sure how to stop it

Review 138:We liked location and comfy beds and duvets, also it is quiet and tea making things in place:)

The Fine Print

Nearby parking is available at Nieuw Babylon/Central Station parking lot, next to the hotel. The front desk staff can provide reduced price parking tickets.
