Reviews for Porto Bay Falesia

Review 1:breakfast is nice, however every day the same. spa is free and good however is too small for the hotel guests, no staff around in the spa. bathrobe is too small. you have to pay for the safe and wifi is very weak and you have to sign up for it every day, very annoying.

Review 2:location is perfect, beach is long and clean, room is very comfortable, quiet and clean. each room has a terrace, spa is free, breakfast is nice, staff is really helpful and lovely, speacially in housekeeping and in breakfast restaurant.

Review 3:The hotel was excellent value for money, located with easy access to a lovely beach. It was really well maintained, and the staff definitely deserve a special mention for their friendliness.

Review 4:Breakfast buffet good but could offer a better choice of menu.

Review 5:Good hotel, pleasant staff and decor in good condition. Hotel in good location to restaurants and sea.

Review 6:The entertainment was pretty grim. Lack of English TV channels.

Review 7:Location, beautiful beach & easy to get to various restaurants nearby. Loved the breakfast.

Review 8:Breakfeast could have higher quality. You need to pay for things that should be for free in this type of Hotel and for the price, as eg. Internet or an expresso at breakfeast.

Review 9:Amazing view from the sea view rooms. Friendly staff.

Review 10:Lots of very delicious food left over to be thrown away. Even at the end of breakfast & dinner the (half) full plates, bowls and pans are replaced by another set of new full plates, bowls and pans. What an enormous waste!

Review 11:Superb location. Going down the many steps to the beach through beautiful woods. Very good food. Free Wifi (Wlan) in the public areas.

Review 12:We were thoroughly disappointed with the quality of the food. We paid extra for a restaurant meal - the fish was not fresh and tasted bland and the vegetarian aubergine wasn't cooke properly and was unimaginative.

Review 13:The staff, view of the sea.

Review 14:Local area was closed down for end of season. Very limited selection of restaurants.

Review 15:Indoor pool for the cooler days. Plenty of children's services, playroom and outdoor games. Food is excellent.

Review 16:Hotel very nice and rooms clean and spacious. Good large selection of breakfast items. Lovely grounds and pool area with plenty of sun loungers. The spa is excellent and staff very professional.

Review 17:I was disappointed with the junior suite that we had booked, no sea view and the room was very musty ( perhaps the previous occupants smoked). The evening buffet was not to our liking. I complained about these dislikes and found a half bottle of house wine in our room on returning. A bit of an insult considering the quality of wine that I purchased to go with the buffet, €38 for a half bottle of white and a bottle of red

Review 18:The breakfast and staff were excellent.

Review 19:The price of food beside the pool was excessive. Very little to do in the hotel when it rains. you had to pay more for south facing room. the safe was too small to hold a laptop.

Review 20:The food was very good. Rooms and staff very good. Raquel the animator was very good and enthusiastic with activities. Some of the entertainment was very good.

Review 21:Many things: - First I had requested for a sea view room 2 weeks in advance and no one told me thats not available. - EVERYTHING is for additional money: Wifi, parking (hardly 20-30 free parking for 400+ rooms), garage parking is charged, bath robes are extra charge. - English channels almost all news and hardly 6-7. - Breakfast area is crowded like hell.

Review 22:- Very good breakfast. - Very clean rooms.

Review 23:No bad experiences just a long downhill hike to the beach and back up.

Review 24:There is a wonderful breakfast buffet with everything you can imagine for breakfast and it was all good!

Review 25:No FREE internet in the rooms.

Review 26:The location of the hotel is really good, from there you have a panoramic view of the Falesias beach! The breakfast was really good, with lots of options!

Review 27:Having to pay for WiFi in the bedroom.

Review 28:Friendly and helpfull staff in a relaxed environment. Superb location overlooking a splendid beach that runs for miles.Good food with plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner.

Review 29:As a non smoker, it was really annoying that people could smoke around the pool.

Review 30:The location was fantastic, the staff were very helpful. My room was great!

Review 31:Didnt have a dislike but would have expected wifi in room and for safe to be included in stay as is standard now. Overall small worries.

Review 32:Beautiful location, v clean, friendly staff, food lovely

Review 33:Having to pay for wifi in the rooms. (Free in lobby.)

Review 34:Great food, location, and peace and quiet. Amazing views and lots of small arears to relax outside. Sea view rooms are fantastic. Two great beaches a 5 minute walk. Highly recommend.

Review 35:The food in the poolside restaurant during the day, was a bit disappointing ! Compared to the main restaurant .

Review 36:Room was lovely, we had a seaview! Hotel clean & modern. Reception staff great. Great facilities , with a quiet location on the cliffs. 5 minute walk to the small town. Fantastic breakfasts!

Review 37:Would prefer little sachets of fresh milk in mini-bars not U.H.T. milk

Review 38:We liked the weather, view, swimming pool, sun beds, garden, little areas for eating outside, cleaning of rooms, excellent food and care taken to provide any missing cutlery etc. reception desk staff - in fact everything!

Review 39:Nothing....

Review 40:The hotel was exactly as you can see in the photos. Lovely location close to the beach and plenty restaurants and bars close by, in addition to the restaurants in the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would go back there in a heartbeat. Totally chilled after a really lovely week there.

Review 41:The music and entertainment, catered to a "seniors" crowd.

Review 42:Beautiful location, clean facilities, good breakfast, a variety of food and bar options on the property.

Review 43:At the price for rooms we felt extra charge for in room wi-fi was uncalled for. Charge to use in room safe was outrageous and insulting. No resort of your caliber should be nickel & diming guests!

Review 44:Great staff always helpful. Pool & grounds very nice. Room well appointed & clean.

Review 45:The evening meal in the restaurant was a buffet which had a excellent selection of dishes for adults but lack a simple children buffet. Please take note as several families were struggling to feed their fussy little eaters.

Review 46:The gardens were well maintained. Setting in the bar over looking the beach with a private area was a real treat

Review 47:We have stayed here before and the only downside was that the entertainment was not as good a standard as on our previous visit.

Review 48:The view over the cliffs looking at the sea is absolutely stunning. The hotel is stylish, the staff are polite and very helpful at all times. The food, especially the continental themed buffets is excellent.

Review 49:parking is challenging, not enough places on hotel's parking, most of facilities for additional price (like wifi in room, bathrobes)

Review 50:Good breakfast, pool area, close to the beach

Review 51:Some of the waiting staff in the restaurant were very abrupt in their manner. Lateral sea view means a distant glimpse beyond the car park - but these rooms do get evening sun.

Review 52:Lovely location. Excellent food.

Review 53:My favourite seaside holiday hotel of all time. Most amazing staff, service and facilities. Only one minor point is evening entertainment at the bar - but that is really just a tiny thing compared with the wonderful stay you'll have here.

Review 54:Paid WiFi in the rooms.

Review 55:Great location, very close to the beach. Spacious swimming pool. Nice little gym. We had lovely dinner at the terrace of the Italian restaurant. Free parking. Friendly staff.

Review 56:The fact that every single activity needs to be paid in separate (tennis for example). The expresso at breakfast needed to be paid as an extra. The food in the bar was lovely but the service was very slow

Review 57:Good hotel. Fully compliant with the claimed 4 stars. Not too big, but there are a lot of cozy areas. We recommend to book a sea view room as the view is stunning. The food was good and reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic time with thanks to all the staff for making my husband’s birthday so memorable. This is our second visit to the Porto Bay Hotel. We love our stay.

Review 58:Water bottles with mold inside of the fridge. Parking space is too small and you have to pay 5€ a day to park in a improvised underground park without elevator . The sympathy of the employees it's not the best . Poor Quality / Price rate

Review 59:Nothing

Review 60:Lovely hotel for relaxing, nice rooms and good location. Bottle of bubbly on ice left in our room when it was my birthday which was a nice suprise. Very clean and staff were very helpfull. Pool was good and there was no scrambling for sun loungers. Cliff top location so a few steps to the beach but not a problem, and well worth it when you got to the beach. Would certainly recommend and would stay again.

Review 61:The atmosphere was so relaxing, the location was spot on and not having to rush to get a sun lounger was the icing on the cake!! Well worth staying here!

Review 62:In the room can hear to much noisy from outside. The cleanliness not good at all. Staff/reception not professional for a 4* 's hotel

Review 63:Location and breakfast are excellent

Review 64:Cost of local call from hotel over 5€ Should have free wifi in room

Review 65:Very attentive staff.Helped with my specific medical issue without complaint and with greatest concern

Review 66:having to pay to use the safe in your room, seems like a penny pinching opportunistic Action. Having said that, free parking more than made up for it.

Review 67:It is a generous Well run hotel, plenty of sun beds, rarely ran out of any foods at brekky, half price happy hour etc eats

Review 68:Staff were hit & miss! Some were exceptionally nice but others were plain rude. Breakfast was mediocre & after 3 mornings we were bored with it. Location was also a bit of a nightmare & was at the top of the hill - in fairness you need the location for the sea view (which is amazing) but after a big evening feed it was hard to motivate yourself up the hill ;-)

Review 69:It was a lovely quiet pool, plenty of sunbeds every morning no need to be up at 6am to leave down your towels! The double sun loungers are class & a must to try!

Review 70:the price is really the only negative.. its all relative and for this price we have stayed in somevery nice places.

Review 71:relaxing and clean in a great location with a reasonable spread of typical holiday food.

Review 72:The ladies toilet by the pool area should be cleaned on a more regular basis when large amount of guests are in the hotel.

Review 73:We had relations from USA with us and they thought it was a great hotel with no negatives

Review 74:mässige Küche des Spezialitätenrestaurants (hat mit italienischer Küche wenig gemein)

Review 75:wunderbare Lage und Aussicht, schönes grosses Zimmer mit hübschem Balkon, sehr gepflegte Anlage

Review 76:We love everything about the hotel...its clean, welcoming, great staff and buffet breakfast is fab...Thia was the first time we tried the dinner buffet...absolutely the best...so much choice...we cant wait to go back again.

Review 77:Decor a little dated and food at resort was average. Have to pay for wifi :(

Review 78:Pools and proximity to beach. Quiet room at night. Close walk into town. Check in staff great.

Review 79:Spotty wifi (I paid), beach is a serious hike down stairs. Food and drinks sometimes over priced.

Review 80:Beautiful, good food, wonderful view, clean rooms and great people.

Review 81:We went in the off season. Can imagine in high season the hotel may get too busy to enjoy.

Review 82:On top of a cliff overlooking Praia da Falesia. Friendly staff. Well kept rooms and grounds with charm. Plenty of sun loungers. Short (5 minute) walk from the beach via steps. Close to the small town of Olhos D'Agua and its restaurants. Short (approx. 10 min / 9 euro taxi) ride from Albufeira old town and all it's shops/restaurants/entertainment.

Review 83:Since it is really a luxury hotel, it is a bit pricey.

Review 84:Located under trees and excellent garden around. Ocean view is fantastic if you have a room with sea-view. Breakfast and facilities of the hotel are great! Location is close to some restaurants and bus stop to go other places. The beach is perfect! Sound of the waves and birds in the garden. The right place to release all your stress.

Review 85:There are a lot of things that you have to pay extra for: use of the safe was a euro/day; wifi in the room was 6 euros/day and could be pretty slow (free wifi in lobby); bathrobes need to be rented. This gave it a bit of a Ryanair feel. And the cups aren't really cleaned, just rinsed out--there was still the bit of melted chocolate on the side of the cup. The toiletries were limited, just soap and shampoo, no conditioner or lotion.

Review 86:Overall it is a nice hotel, generally clean and comfortable with close access to the beach. Breakfast was wonderful, 3 different kinds of eggs, 2 different sausages, bacon, French toast, pancakes, etc. Gym was pretty good for a hotel, large, a couple of treadmills, cycle, rower, and elliptical (side-to-side). I ate at the Italian restaurant, which was very good.

Review 87:Two minor niggles .. WiFi is freely available in the public areas but it would be an improvement to make it available in the bedrooms. Why have the hassle of the charge (albeit modest) for the room safe. It should be included in the room rate.

Review 88:This is a great hotel. Although quite large, there is plenty of space, with plentiful loungers around the pool and in the gardens. We had a standard room, which was spacious, well furnished and very comfortable. Most of all, we liked the abundant and extremely attentive staff - everyone we met was friendly, courteous and genuinely keen to provide exceptional service. We are not usually a fan of these bigger resort hotels, but this was great and we will definitely return.

Review 89:Wishi had booked a room with a view.

Review 90:The staff very friendly and helpful. Sheets were so soft, nice big room. Wish I had booked a room with a view, but the views from the patios were grand!

Review 91:Maybe a little soul-less, in the sense that everything is so comfy and well thought out but there is nothing specifically personal about this hotel. Quite similar to a Las Vegas experience from this point of view.

Review 92:Comfortable modern hotel in a dream-like location. Big beds, comfy rooms, breakfast with a lot of choices.

Review 93:Paying for wifi in the rooms I only found this out after checking in which wasn't nice as I've been to many other hotels with less stars that don't do that

Review 94:Most of the staff were very friendly and were always helpful The facilities were good would be nice if pools opened before breakfast though especially the indoors one!

Review 95:The weather was a bit disappointing but true Algarve sunshine picked up mid week.

Review 96:The overall experience was of near perfection. The resort offered exactly as advertised- tranquillity, relaxation and beautiful surroundings.

Review 97:There was nothing we could find fault with.

Review 98:We loved the location and the fabulous views. The staff were brilliant and the hotel extremely comfortable.Loved eating in Il Basilico.

Review 99:The only things to mention were unhelpful male staff on reception when we first arrived but all other staff absolutely fantastic. the gym is very small. The holiday would not have been the same for us if we didn't have a room with a sea view as all others look over the car park.

Review 100:Fantastic hotel exactly as in the pictures. Comfy rooms, great beach, clean and good food.

Review 101:Having to pay Internet in year 2015 is miserable in a hotel like this??? Worst then miserable.

Review 102:I like everything nice hotel nice room awesome bed, employees and swimming pools.

Review 103:There is a charge for everything! Just to use the safe in your room, you have to pay a fee, Internet pay a fee. Misleading room booking details... Makes you think that you are getting one thing and then you receive something different. Very disappointed.

Review 104:The view was nice

Review 105:Seems a bit mean to pay for wifi in your room and for the safe. Not much to Olhas d'Agua but lots of really good cheap restaurants nearby.

Review 106:Terrific views - definitely worth paying for a sea view. Good breakfasts and lovely friendly cleaning staff.

Review 107:Couldn't really fault anything - beach access to Falesia is a bit awkward for the less nimble of feet, but to others like us, that just added to the adventure! The Italian restaurant in the hotel was a little lacking in atmosphere (food lovely though!) although that was likely as much to do with the fact that it was very quiet season with few patrons dining there.

Review 108:Rarely has a hotel surpassed the expectation of it's promotional profile by such a distance. The first impression is of the efficiently organised and genuinely friendly staff and that lasts throughout the stay. The rooms and public facilities are excellent, as good if not better than most 5 Star establishments I have stayed in previously, the ambiance is one of pure relaxation right from breakfast on the veranda - beautifully pleasant even in late Feb/Early March, through lunch by the poolside bistro to the late night tunes of Carlos Santos on the piano or the entertainment of the evening to ease you into sleep mode. The hotel setting is genuinely stunning, views which the web pictures can't really justify, with numerous relaxation and coffee decks set among the pine gardens overlooking the breathtaking Falesia beach. A stroll along the coast pathway to Olhos D'agua, a lovely little fishing village and beach is a real treat also. In summary, Porto Bay Falesia is a genuine gem of a hotel, differentiated by many things most notably its wonderful staff and incredible setting

Review 109:rattling of the fire door with the wind was disturbing at night (we had the room directly next to it)

Review 110:Stunning views, spacious room (superior room with seaview), very good breakfast-,and dinner buffet ,variety of everything you can imagine. Very friendly helpfull staff. Everything was spotlessly clean.

Review 111:We hired some bath robes, but they were too small and not really adequate. Although we swopped them, they were still too small.

Review 112:The view full from our room was outstanding!

Review 113:Breakfast had good selection and hotel was lovely although the pool was a bit cold, it was a wee but pricey for food but drink was ok as well would defiantly go back in season

Review 114:Bed not as comfortable as I would have liked, a bit too hard, and maids cleaning down our corridor a little too early.

Review 115:Location was great, staff courteous & helpful, breakfast had so much choice and good quality food at pool bar.

Review 116:It was an amazing end of year function, the food was out of this world, the location terrific and the staff are the friendliest people. A spectacular 3 days. Can't wait to get back.

Review 117:Paying for wifi, have stayed in unrated pensions which offer free wifi & various other little things which you would expect a hotel of this standard to include in the price

Review 118:Location

Review 119:The fact that WIFI in the room was an additional cost

Review 120:Our expectations were definitely met. I would like to give a special shout out to bartender Carlos who made our cocktails with the outmost care and passion. Catarina at the reception was extremely helpful providing us with tips on what to do during a rather quite period and she went the extra mile helping us renting a scooter.

Review 121:Not much, but being critical would say that the Indoor Pool (underground) was far too small and overcrowded. We were charged extra for WIFI in the bedroom - we feel this should be included in the room rate as most people use IT devices these days. It was frustrating not being able to get a WIFI connection in the Games Room where the guest PC with printer are located. These points would not stop us from returning or from recommending this hotel to our friends for a 3 day stay on the Algave in December.

Review 122:Great location in a lovely elevated tranquil garden setting with lawn, trees and tropical plants overlooking the sea, beautiful outdoor pool and two tennis courts, all in top condition. Short walk down to the +4 miles long sandy beach with a backdrop of coloured sand stone cliffs. Good range of well presented and delicious foods at both restaurants. Buffet breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea. All Waiters were well dressed, friendly and helpful, as were the Housekeeping Staff and the Staff on the Main Reception. Bedrooms with South facing balconies and good sized, very comfortable beds. Easy car parking close to the Main Reception. Yoga class at 10am in the Garden! Flexibility to upgrade the room on arrival.

Review 123:Don't understand why hotels like these would charge for WIFI in the room. This was my one disappointment

Review 124:The beach access for this hotel is just amazing. You are away from the commercial district of Albufiera-- still lots of amenities. Great selection at breakfast.

Review 125:Normal services are charged such as use of safety box € 1.50 / day, Internet in the room € 6.- / day or € 25.- / week. Over priced buffet diner at € 23.- lacking sea food and good traditional portuguese cusine. A spa that is too small for such a big hotel. The steep way to the beach.

Review 126:The hotel location on the cliff with large pool area in the garden. The attentive staff. The cleanliness and the quality of the rooms. The proximity in walking distance of some taverns. Free parking in front of hotel.

Review 127:The rooms were character-less. A few pictures or bit of colour in the rooms would go along way. Breakfast (cooked) was pretty poor. Wifi should be free.

Review 128:It was very comfortable, easy to relax, good value, great that was free wine tasting when we were there

Review 129:paid WiFi in rooms very small indoor swimming pool

Review 130:Great localization (wonderful views, very close to the beach), excellent breakfast buffet, very helpful personnel, spacious rooms

Review 131:Policy with additional children the age cut off must be reviewed some hotels are under 12 years of age. With the charge of €30 per day that It didn't require extra bed or even extra towels for my 6 yrs old son and he only eats cereals every morning.

Review 132:The location is stunning. We booked on off season which I prefer, having your young children and you feel much safer without too much crowd and the playground is pretty small to accommodate children. The selection in breakfast is huge and always fresh. Having your breakfast every morning with sunshine and the view of the cliffs and the sea is priceless.... My expectation with cleanliness has been met.

Review 133:To pay for wi-fi in the rooms feels greedy and is so unmodern and not up to date today! Sad to say this about a hotel which otherwise is perfect.

Review 134:Nicely situated close to the beach with a fabolous view from the breakfast area over the ocean. Breakfast has superquality with e.g. freshly pressed orange juice. The staff is extremely welcoming and you feel like coming home.

Review 135:Rather crowded at buffet breakfast. Staff could have been more pro-active in offering information, especially when checking in. Plenty of restaurants within a short walk, but no more than average food.

Review 136:Pleasant setting with decent views; pool area never crowded. Staff were obliging if you asked them to do something. Happy hour drinks were excellent value. Beautiful beach is easily accessible.

Review 137:Nothing - fantastic hotel. Excellent value. We will return!

Review 138:Fantastic location - a gem of a place! Excellent breakfast Comfortable beds and clean rooms Resort - Absolutely immaculate Staff - Friendly, approachable and helpful. Great indoor pool and jacuzzi!

Review 139:The standard of cleanliness and service in this hotel was exemplary. Everywhere, from the comfortable bed, bathroom, beautiful gardens, lobby, bar... was immaculately cared for by very attentive staff. Breakfast was wonderful. We will be back.
