Reviews for Design & Wine Hotel
Review 1:The lighting in the rooms and hallways are too dim for any age person....you cannot read properly, put on makeup... .... apparently this is being fixed, throughout the Hotel as it could be dangerous for elderly
Review 2:This is just a wonderful hotel, wonderful staff and great rooms....everything worked as it should the wifi, the tv. The breakfast was fine, the dinner - WOW - devine... the meal was an excellent surprise as it sounded plain - but it stood out, the half board option we booked.... well done - bravo Chef. The waiter in the restaurant was so pleasant and friendly... what a perfect stay for a special celebration
Review 3:Well designed modern Hotel behind a historical front, right in the centre of this old town. Our room was huge, comfortable, exceptionally decorated and with a great bed. We loved the view looking at the sunset over the Rio Minho. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you for that!
Review 4:The bathroom in the room could do with a bit attention. It was a bit shabby in places and mouldy was seen in several spots.
Review 5:Great location in the main square and modern facilities that contribute to an overall very pleasant stay. Modern deco that contrast with the main old building
Review 6:We had a problem in the dining room, I think the person helping was new and didn't seem fully trained. We waited for over half an hour before pur order was taken, or we had a drink, and there were very few people in the restauarant. The girl was charming, but obviously very inexperienced.
Review 7:The minimalist design and quality of the materials used.
Review 8:Room fridge was not working (usual).
Review 9:Excellent modern & comfy design. No "euro-rubbish" but proper, useful design. Peaceful town proved fab location for one day trips (by car). Attractive neighboring villages and natural reserves both in Portugal and Spain. Room was big & clean. [We were upgraded to a family suite but double standards are good enough] Hotel Restaurant & Wine cellar is a very good option.
Review 10:The shower equipment is overcomplicated, there are plenty of design elements, which rather annoying than functional. I would more appreciate a functioning mini-bar, that a useless PS4 in the room.
Review 11:It has a great location and spacious room with modern and clean furniture. The staff was kind and ready to help. The breakfast is great, with nice variability and good quality.
Review 12:50% ofplates in the breakfast room were chipped, tables left uncleared, poor breakfast for a 4 star hotel. Jacuzzi bath didnt work, window was impossible to see through (problem with infiltration of water between double glazing. Would have been nice to have been offered a different room. Short of a manager who looks round and backs up the staff, no visible management seen in three days.
Review 13:comfortable beds, free wifi, clean and bright, lovely location
Review 14:No private parking and its not easy to find a free spot nearby. Not easy to find. Airco didnt work well, it didnt get any colder than 24 degrees.
Review 15:Beautiful room with cool details. Very friendly staff. Free bottle of wine when dining at their restaurant. Very good breakfast, with a variaty of breads, cornflakes, juices, fruits, etc
Review 16:You will hear the town clock every hour from 7am to 12pm. The system that controls the power in the room makes to much noise, you will hear it buzzing even during the day a specially during the night. In my opinion, the breakfast is not up to par, there isn't a lot of variety and the express coffee is an extra that you have to pay.
Review 17:Great location right on the village center. Great outdoor life during all day with a very busy and alive center plaza. The hotel is nice with a modern design architecture, only lacking some light on the bathroom area.
Review 18:Suite without bath tube!?... How is that possible?
Review 19:The views to the River from the Suite "instalacao"... Speechless Customer service and check attendance under the most traditional and uncomparable Portuguese wellcome manner to host the strangers
Review 20:Nice Staff but with bad organization. Room service was late; sopha bed for children was noisy and not stable; toilets without lightings and wc were fixed too hight; the white light in the bedrooms is not confortable; breakfast was banal and not functionaly displayed (you shouldn´t be serving coffee or juice over jams, bread,etc...it splits everything around!)...terrible the extra price for expresso coffee! the access to the garden should be revised..it is unconfortable to have the sliding doors openned on our back...
Review 21:Location is splendid, the old building is lovely, the refurbishment project is interesting, the thematic rooms and the glass partitions are the most surprising issues here... the garden is also very relaxing...
Review 22:Nothing on hotels part. But weather was inclement even in July
Review 23:Stylish hotel. Excellent breakfast. Lucky enough to stay there during caminah festival. Despite Friday night weather being poor, luckily Saturday turned out perfect so was great. Pottered round few local beaches no more than 5 miles away
Review 24:Pool area too dark and dirty, no shower facility before entering pool
Review 25:Room and facilities in room
Review 26:Shower was broken.
Review 27:Not usual but everything is old.
Review 28:if for any reason you travel to caminha this is the hotel to stay
Review 29:The rooms design and originality. Fantastic location.
Review 30:Bathtub could be functionally better (could hardly be prettier).

Review 36:- Lack of light inside the room - Terrible breakfast - Expensive for what you get - Bad SPA and cold indoor pool

Review 39:We liked the perfect location of the hotel, the comfortable and tastefully decorated room, the very pleasant staff.

Review 44:Breakfast could have more variety. Not that easy to park.
Review 45:The design of the rooms and the place was fantastic. The staff was superb.

Review 56:Location, food, breakfast, lovely rooms, nice personal,...
Review 57:Quirky rooms
Review 58:Bathroom uncomfortable, esp. shower; no place to hang towels; excessive and exaggerated design; air-condition not effective; wardrobe does not have the necessary width for hanging jackets and is too small; minibar is empty and the refrigerator not working.
Review 59:Marvelous location; beautiful building; pleasant breakfast restaurant; very friendly staff
Review 60:Breakfast could be better... It was only OK...
Review 61:The location is perfect, right in Caminha's "heart". Staff was really nice, although a little inexperienced.
Review 62:Excellent location, hotel very welcoming. Thoroughly enjoyed hiring their bikes to cycle to the beach. Staff were able to recommend superb Tapa's bar. Very eclectic decoration but very comfortable. Real value for money.
Review 63:The white lights in the room(not the toilet) was very very dim. You could not write nor read easily. This was also true in the corridor. I do not understand why they made it so dim. I did not feel it romantic, but rather uncomfortable.
Review 64:Good location in the centre of Caminha. The view from my room towards Minho River and Spain is excellent. Breakfast was good and very sufficient.
Review 65:Decoration of the rooms was very nice, but overall the hotel could benefit from more warmer lighting (instead of the white almost hospital-like one) - but it says a lot that this is the only remark we have
Review 66:Rooms very quiet and comfortable - especially the king sized bed; facilities of the hotel and its location were just perfect; breakfast was nice;
Review 67:We love our time in Design & Wine Hotel in caminha. A very specialthanks to the kind staff. Helpfull, good information, and very goodice. I hope to see you soon again. Best regards and thanks.... Lucy andLeif vinter
Review 68:Hi, i would like to make a note to a member from the staff. Her name is Rosa and was super nice and friendly to us, probably one of the best Hotel staff member i came across in many years of traveling, we definitively will stay there again next time.
Review 69:We didn´t like the fact that there´s no special dessert on the menu — the only one wasn´t available. We also think that a design hotel should provide more security in the bathrooms, full of glass doors without a visual sign. Stuff wasn´t regular: some were very kind and helpful; others weren´t.
Review 70:Loved the location and the design of the hotel, except from our own room, which were the arquitecture concept room. They have great wine offers for dinning, a very nice living room with games and activities. We also loved the view from our window, directly to the center of Caminha and we guess the suites, located in the opposite side, in the rotative platform, also have a great view to the river.
Review 71:- Room was full of insects (flies, etc..);- Room smelled damp; - A/C was very noisy (even when it was turned OFF); - Very poor sound proofing (I could hear everything that was happening in the hallway and also the church's bell ringing in the middle of the night); - Even though I asked for a double bed room, it was, in fact, two mattresses stuck together; - Staff was not very friendly; They have concentrated in the design of the rooms and of the hotel, but they forgot what really matters in an hotel - comfort, and that is why I don't recommend this hotel.
Review 72:Location

Review 82:The hotel environment
Review 83:Poor breakfast (cold eggs, lack of juice)
