Reviews for Ramada Hotel and Suites Noumea
Review 1:Very disappointed in the advertised in room childcare - this was not provided by the hotel but outsourced to a local 16 year old boy - b#llsh1t. As a result of this misleading advertised service we were unable to go diving together - 1 of the main reasons we chose New Caledonia.
Review 2:Staff were mixed, some very friendly and efficient, others not so. Most seemed very young.
Review 3:They advertise the accommodation as facing the Hippodrome(race course) but that is only half the truth. You are actually facing a very busy road, therefore the constant traffic noise and next to the road is a big car park and beyond that is the Hippodrome. So don't go by the pictures as they hide the road and the car park and only show the Hippodrome beyond.
Review 4:Great property with a lot of scope but management & staff training is very poor.
Review 5:There were two occasions during the week where we couldn't park our car in the designated car park because it was full. We were forced to park our car across the road at the Hippodrome. Also the timing of the room service was not consistent. One day it was done at about 4pm and the next day there was a knock on our door at 9am
Review 6:The location was great and the staff were extremely friendly. Rooms were nice a spacious.
Review 7:There was a strange sewerage smell coming from the bathroom (on and off) the cleaning staff did not clean thing properly or thoroughly. When ever we asked staff for anything, even coat hangers it seemed to be a problem or something they couldn't do.
Review 8:The pictures were not misleading, the room looked the way I expected.
Review 9:I understand that New Caledonia is mostly a French-speaking country, but considering this is a hotel and the country is being heavily promoted for tourism, I expected the staff at the Reception to have average English-comprehension skills. Twice my simple requests were grossly misunderstood. I commend the team for trying to come back to us asap for any requests, but if the request was misunderstood in the first place after repeating a few times, it can become quite bothersome..
Review 10:Bath/shower didn't drain properly, water leaked from shower behind vanity pooling water on floor, water damage visible in kitchen, mouldy tiles in bathroom, window didn't open so no ventilation, no drinking glasses, no toaster, no tea towel, no water jug, sharp knife handles all broken, ice machine broken, gym not open, boutique no longer operates. This is typical Noumea. They build something nice but there's no upkeep. And this was a relatively expensive hotel.
Review 11:Air-con, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, stove,TV,all worked. Spacious 2 bedroom apartment. Comfortable beds. Quiet. Lovely sea view. Close to restaurants, shops, walking paths, beach, public transport.
Review 12:The rooms need a bit of an update to spruce them up a bit, which I understand is happening.
Review 13:The ramada provides apartments with great space and the facilities are clean.
Review 14:Needed more utensils in kitchen like small mixing bowl and serving dishes The tin opener was impossible to use Some larger glasses would have been useful Also a clothes airer to hang clothes on balcony
Review 15:Location Convenience The lovely view from balcony
Review 16:The meals are substandard for this type of hotel. Breakfast is cooked all at once for 6.30am and put in warmers until 10. There should be continuous cooking with smaller amounts being cooked as need be to keep it fresh. The continental b/fast is good.
Review 17:Mostly friendly staff. The sports bar with plenty of international sports and the ability to get the staff to change the channel to what is popular is one of the main reasons I stay.
Review 18:We weren't able to make outgoing calls from our room after the first day. Struggled to communicate with the staff and never were able to get it rectified.
Review 19:The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The room was very comfortable.
Review 20:Kitchens need more equipment, coffee plunger, water jugs, plastic cups for kids, Teflon spatula, English instructions for microwave and washing machine, 2 of the 4 English tv stations not viewable.Sports Bar needs to offer meals all day not just at set times. Fitness room closed when we arrived, but Mgr opened on our request through Booking.com. Some equipment faulty - but reported & action was to be taken to remedy. No ice machine available, bar area limited in amount of ice able to supply, no ice buckets available. Tea/coffee cups too small, need mugs.
Review 21:staff helpful, air con worked well, nice big balcony doors, Ansa Vata Bay more peaceful than neighbouring Bay d'Citron. Room cleaning staff helpful and very pleasant.
Review 22:Food needed improvement a the bar. But again it was a new bar and still trying to test it's menu list. Would be good if there was full room service.
Review 23:Staff were very tentative to requests.
Review 24:Wireless internet not working properly. Not all staff speak english. The barthroom smells of damp The toilet had no exhaust fan No light in the kichen area.
Review 25:The location was good. The bar staff are friendly. The rotating 360 restaurant was nice.
Review 26:The bar manager was rude, she tried to rip people off with overcharging-ignored happy hour rules. When questioned about this would lie and saythe menu price was wrong. That it wasn't happy hour even though 5mins left. Or blatent just asked for full price ! Was very slow toserve, nasty to her staff. Gym facilities disappeared- weren'trelocated bit just unavailable. No room service.
Review 27:Rooms were lovely - awesome shower!! Nice pool area Loved thehuge king bed!
Review 28:Disappointed with female bar managers continually trying to charge full price during happy hour her attitude was horrendous
Review 29:Nice rooms close to restaurants. Male bar staff excellent
Review 30:Maid service random times either early in the morning or more often late afternoon 5pm. Kitchen equipped very basically. Water pressure for shower poor.
Review 31:Large apartment size, location and had excellent sea views.
Review 32:The apartment was reasonable, but it felt like everything was a bit run down - but this was the case with many local venues really. It is a very expensive holiday - food is a challenge.
Review 33:The pool was nice, the new Sports Bar was lovely. The beaches and islands around are outstanding, swimming with turtles and fish is amazing.
Review 34:The rooms is tired and in need of refurbishment. Some doors would not close, others had fittings missing. The air conditioning in the bedrooms did not work and despite constant pestering of the staff, it was not fixed. The curtains were full of holes and some of the external doors would not lock....
Review 35:The location, the pool and the bar.
Review 36:Tired old hotel with limited services available. Most of the hotel offering in compendium didn't exist. Breakfast under average. No room service (and for tired biz travellers this can be a hassle).
Review 37:Staff were helpful as much as they could be.
Review 38:Some attention to detail was missing - two globes in our room were missing; we didn't have a drying horse.
Review 39:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location
Review 40:Internet was slow, and the pool was closed for cleaning which unfortunately wasn't advertised when booking.
Review 41:2 Bedroom unit was huge, great location, friendly staff
Review 42:Didn't have kitchen wash up facilities ie. no dishcloths, tea towels or dishwasher tablets; also no microwave proof containers to use; no washing powder for washing machine & not available from reception either. WiFi didn't work properly! There was some mould in the bathroom.
Review 43:Spacious rooms, good view, comfortable & clean.
Review 44:We had to alert reception a few times as a small part of the house keeping needed attention- bins weren't emptied once, no new toilet rolls on a couple of days. Twice we had to ask why our room hadn't been cleaned by 4pm. Seemed to be a break down in communication and problems were quickly rectified. To compensate for these issues our room was upgraded and we received a free bottle of wine.
Review 45:Quickness of reception staff to deal with issues. Excellent revolving restaurant on the top of the hotel. Great view from Ocean facing rooms.
Review 46:We had a 2 bedroom apartment on the 17th floor. It was very spacious with great views of the water and the island from the front balcony and the hills from the bedroom balconies. I loved having breakfast on the front balcony and watching the water-taxi go back and forth to the island.
Review 47:Very disappointing; service not good - under new management; staff notvery forthcoming especially if you don't speak French; stingy roomservice for tea/coffee/toiletries/towels; black mold inbathroom; peeling paint on balcony; contrary to the hotel'sinformation pack there is no concierge or happy hour in the bar; wastold the nearest supermarket was miles away when there was a small onjust on the corner; fed up of being mis-informed; they don't seemto promote tourism here. Had to come down to collect ice as theydon't deliver to the room - never had this problem before in otherfour star hotels! Unbelievable!! - they really need to get their acttogether if they are going to survive. No wonder the place was empty. Also don't visit around Bastille day (14th July) as everything getsbooked up if you want to visit the islands. It is also a very expensiveplace so beware!
Review 48:The view from our balcony.
Review 49:Booked a 1 bedroom apartment with Sea Views but was downgraded on arrival to a studio with racecourse view. Offered free breakfast as compensation at same price (I do not generally have breakfast) and fobbed off with 'Booking.com should have informed me'! Poor attitude, even from duty manager! Wifi very slow on 9th floor!
Review 50:Clean and comfortable. Good security Not a bad experience except for the booking problem. Covered parking
Review 51:Some basic items were missing (chopping board, toaster, flannels, washing powder). No hair conditioner, no slippers or robes. Floor was very dirty even after the cleaning service. Our feet turned black after walking bear-feet inside. Bed linen and towel were very old and greyish in colour.
Review 52:Magnificent view from our balcony! Apartments were well appointed and located close to everything (beach, cafe's, shops, etc.)
Review 53:Wind was annoying at times. Internet is slow, but not hopeless. Too much space in the apartment! Parking was bit tricky but managebale with the small car.
Review 54:Nice comfortable beds in 2 bedroom apartment.
Review 55:Kitchen facilities are really limited. A toaster would be a great inclusion along with a tea towel or dishwasher powder if you're supposed to do your dishes. Also some monitoring of the ageing grey (instead of white) towels would be nice.
Review 56:It was midnight when I arrived and when I was allocated a room in front of the lliifts I panicked. But when I entered my room I was SO happy with the decor and appearance and the fabulous view I had over Noumea beaches from my huge balcony and the lovely bedroom and bathroom I was delighted with my room. This is a fabulous place to stay also because of the wonderful staff at reception.
Review 57:Under staffed, tired decor, wifi was really bad in the rooms, had to beg to get washing detergent and toilet paper It has the potential, management just need to take a hard look at what needs to be done.
Review 58:Location was good, close to shops, bus and ocean
Review 59:WIFI was hopeless The kitchen needed tea towels More staff speaking English this made communicating difficult and would help tourism and our stay more enjoyable Restaurant needs more variety we would have used it more but it only had the one option steak on a sauce and chips that needs improving a lot.
Review 60:Rooms were great and roomy staff pleasant
Review 61:Fridge took over 24 hours to cool. Inadequate cutlery and cooking utensils Kettle broken and was replaced Most of the staff had little English, so difficult to communicate Foul smell in room on last night, so insisted on being moved to another room A lot of time and effort was spent attempting to get this message across. The smell which came from the air vents was overpowering and sickening. Paint peeling and chopped on building. The building is in need of an upgrade and is definitely not 4 star quality.
Review 62:Enjoyed the atmosphere, view and meal at 360 deg restaurant
Review 63:It says the hotel is 200m from the beach but that must be by birds eye view, it was longer to walk. It would be fine for most people but we both had sprained ankles so it proved difficult to get to and from the beach. Wifi was a bit patchy but better than the Sheraton at Bourail. The area at the back of this hotel is pretty ugly so I wasn't very pleased coming in, but its ok once you walk to the beach.
Review 64:The service at the front desk was friendly and helpful. We also loved our huge balcony and view of the sunset and the mountains! The breakfast area is leafy and pleasant, and so is the pool.
Review 65:Prices - a breakfast buffet for almost AUD56 - outrageous (especially considering food quality); no air-con in common areas, no sun-umbrellas around the pool, no room service, no "Do not disturb" or any other sign to hang on the door; "a view over the racecourse" turned out to be dominated by parking...Never going there again!
Review 66:Nothing much, really
Review 67:Even they are friendly, some staff really need more training on some facilities of this hotel in order to answer your questions straight away with confidence.
Review 68:Comfort and location at an "affordable" price for Noumea.
Review 69:Pool was not heated. Breakfast was not good value.Expensive. No cable tv only a few channels and mostly in French. Not catered for families.
Review 70:Location Size of Room
Review 71:Very limited food options from the restaurant and the sportsmans bar, which meant we ate away from the hotel on all but one occasion. This was a pain given that we had three young children with us and it would have been easier to be able to some meals at the hotel.
Review 72:The staff were really lovely and very helpful. The apartment was great, three large bedrooms each with ensuites, however the kitchen facilities were limited, and the lounge area could have been more comfortable. The view was amazing. Housekeeping was outstanding and so friendly and thorough cleaning from top to bottom everyday.
Review 73:Cutlery items need reviewing. Microwave oven very dirty.
Review 74:Nice view over the racecourse. Helpful, efficient staff. Comfortable bed and furniture. Good shower. Clean towels every day.
Review 75:Only one English speaking TV channel available. No tea towel provided.
Review 76:Firstly I loved my free upgrade. The suite was beautiful - clean with big fluffy towels, spacious, comfortable with big brilliant views. All staff very helpful. Easy walk to the main shops and beach.
Review 77:loved the spacious apartment on the higher level location was great and the pool bar was brilliant.
Review 78:Nice see view nice apartmant
Review 79:internet was slow & disconnected all the time, room key cards had to be re programmed daily
Review 80:I ordered a drink at the bar and got mostly ice cubes!
Review 81:We liked the location, the facilities, the surrounding and the pool
Review 82:The suite was great and a fantastic view
Review 83:Staff very nice, responded quickly to fix things that didn't work, facilities good,
Review 84:Breakfast need to be cooked on a continuous basis rather than all at once at 6.30am and then put in warmers.
Review 85:Wifi ranged from very slow to stand still. Breakfast was poor and cost A$ 48.
Review 86:Some staff was friendly. Good location
Review 87:Pool - trees were too tall. Sand was not appropriate around a pool.
Review 88:Spacious - great for a family with older children Balcony with great view
Review 89:Not enough kitchen utensils or wares
Review 90:Good location. Nice views from apartment, staff multi language was good allover pretty good 3.5 stars not 4.
Review 91:Booking not recorded accurately, staff adequate, but not proactive.
Review 92:spacious room, self catering facilities, great view.
Review 93:Write to me for that please
Review 94:The room and facilities overall need refreshing
Review 95:Restaurant "entrecote style" Staff is friendly
Review 96:Facilities in our room were generally very good. Kitchen space was a bit limited, ohterwise we enjoyed our stay very much.
Review 97:All of it
Review 98:appliances didnt work and needed to be replaced.
Review 99:Had dinner at 360º restaurant with their set menu option- good value and great views.
Review 100:Security could be better. Got an additional room card with no request for ID
Review 101:Large room with good facilities and great location
Review 102:A bit too far from the seafront to make it the first choice for holidays - ten-minute walk - but excellent for business or if you're pushed for somewhere decent at short notice and its advertising there are any special deals.
Review 103:Nice rooms - good views from all sides - the inland side overlooks the race course and mountains. Many rooms have excellent kitchen facilities - useful in a high-cost destination such as New Caledonia - especially if you're a foodie and want to cook up something from the fabulous daily market.
Review 104:Run down, over priced food and beverage, and generally laize fair attitude of staff. Asked 4 times for a baby cot whi h arrived on day 2... You get the idea.
Review 105:Staff were helpful. Generous size 2 bedroom.
Review 106:My room was adjacent to the lifts. Unfortunately, one of the lifts is/was in need of a service and made a squeaking sound as it passed through the level I was on. The first night I thought it was some exotic animal outside, but soon realised what it was. Within a couple of nights I had become accustomed to the noise and it no longer woke me. I possibly could have spoken to Hotel management and asked to be moved, but it wasn't really that big of an issue and didn't detract from my stay. Wi-Fi, while widely available throughout the whole Hotel, was patchy during 'peak' times. Outside of peak times it was a good connection.
Review 107:My stay at the Ramada was excellent. When I arrived in New Caledonia (on a sports trip) the only French I could speak was "I don't speak French". The staff at the Ramada were extremely accommodating of my linguistic deficiencies. Staff were courteous at all times. The Hotel is well equipped with a bar, restaurant, pool, basic gym and is only a few minutes walk to the Promenade that runs around Anse Vata Bay. There is a kids club in the Hotel, although we didn't use it. There are plenty of eateries within a 5 minute gentle stroll of the Hotel. My room was well equipped, small TV, microwave, cook-top, fridge and the basic utensils. Nice balcony overlooking the "Hippodrome". Bathroom was clean and functional. Everything felt reasonably modern. Would I stay at the Hotel Ramada again? Most certainly. In fact, New Caledonia will be on my vacation destination list, once I learn how to kite-surf and speak French.
Review 108:Location was poor, property is run down and in need of a major refurbishment. Room air conditioning was very noisy and leaked water
Review 109:The room was fairly spacious. Revolving restaurant was excellent
Review 110:We had asked to have a lower floor and had had an email to confirm but when we checked in we were still high up and were told we couldn't be moved despite the hotel being relatively empty. Rooms were very dated.
Review 111:The bar staff were very friendly. Still close to the beach so ok
Review 112:Nothing to dislike highly reccomended.
Review 113:The pool is excellent, the staff friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Good parking and the internet works fine.
Review 114:The service is terrible the food is awful and expensive the room serviceis so slow the hotel environment activities is poor saying so dead !!!The housekeeping department needs to be trained They take your dirtytowels off the ground to put them back on racks pretending they are outof clean towels !!!!! During our two weeks stay we needed to call thefront desk every day to get clean towels ...at 7 00pm towels were not inthe bathroom yet ! Upholstery need to be changed furniture cushions areall stained and dirty . During our two weeks stay never vacuum thecarpet in the room at all ...just mopped the rest of the apt ...The bararea has no life ...very cold atmosphere ...asking them a bucket of iceto bring into rooms seem to be a very big deal !!!!The day of departurethey had no porter for the luggages ! Told them that we were notsatisfied of our stay and will not come back ever !! we had two roomsand left them $8500.Very sad to have such a beautiful location a nice hotel that has been renovated in part but no service at all !!! Something happy warm with positive energy is missing in every day service !!!!!! For example music in the lobby local flowers that are so beautiful in New Caledonia to make the atmosphere joyful !!!!! We stayed there 5 years ago then the following year again for same length of stay each time and service and management was far better then !!!! That was quite an experience !!!!
Review 115:The location is great with beautiful ocean view and nice breeze fromyour room balcony ! Front desk personnel is very kind and smiling !!Maintenance guys are very quick ( bath tub was clogged once ..airconditioning was linking very badly one day - filter were dirty andevacuation clogged) Hotel lobby main area are always clean !! Parking iseasily find !!! Shops and restaurants are close by !! Very niceneighborhood !!!
Review 116:the 3 bd apartment is not set up to do any self catering eg cooking and cleaning facilities. staff forgot to ring company re our return transfers to airport. client still in our room when we arrived at 2.45 pm no offer of drink etc our dinner was served just warm on our last night
Review 117:the view was sensational staff were friendly and helpful [ a bit forgetful at times ] the 3 bd apartment lovely but needs refurbish great location had a great stay despite other comments
Review 118:It's got excellent conditionsthe staff were really helpful and there always someone to help you out if you ever need anything 24 hours day n night the swimming pool is really clean and tidyand a truly make you stay all the whilex
Review 119:The tall gentleman working at the bar on the evening/night of saturday 13th July was rude, obnoxious and shown some disdain towards both me and my husband on more than one occasion. It was a little disappointing that this was one of the final memories of our 2 stays at the hotel during this trip to New Caledonia.
Review 120:The staff! The reception staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff were also friendly and hardworking. There was a man who worked in the bar on our first night (Saturday 6th July) who showed excellent customer service, was very helpful and attentive. The pool was nice and relaxing, and the 1 bed apartment that we stayed in had amazing views and everything we required for our stay.
Review 121:We had a request and three times they said the duty manager would contact us.....still waiting :(
Review 122:The efficient check in and check out. The smiling front desk staff Great service at the bar Our room was immaculate as always
Review 123:Kitchen missing a few things: a teatowel, a toaster, a sponge and somedish washing detergent. WiFi did not work for 1 day. Photocopy servicewas not efficient; I ordered color copies of a file at 10pm for the nextmorning but only got black and white the next morning because the officewith the color copier does not open before 8am! The black and whitecopies were of poor quality. The hotel advertises a business center butthere is really one; just a corner with a computer; no fax, no printeretc... I felt cheated
Review 124:Room outlay and comfort hotel style and cleanliness
Review 125:lost booking and waiting over 1 hour for check-in, old towels, internet problems, noise in car park til late at night,
Review 126:The price; the sheets and bed; the view
Review 127:No fresh towels. Moldy bathroom tiles. Horrible room on 4th floor on the same floor as their commercial kitchen. No supply air to lift lobby and poor return air. Old furnishing with torn upholstery on 4th floor. Housekeeper does not clean dishes in sink. No new toiletries supplied. Stains on chairs upholstery. Very expensive for the quality of room. More like 2* rather than 4*.
Review 128:Free upgrade to 14th floor from 4th floor after our complaint. Free wi-fi.
Review 129:Free form swimming pool - hard to do laps No toaster, no carving knife Awkward walk to beach
Review 130:Excellent balcony view of sea Quality furnishings Well stocked Gym Comfortable bed
Review 131:Mosquitos around the pool area !
Review 132:Very friendly staff, quick check in and check out, available parking.
Review 133:- this is not a 4 star hotel - needed to insist for any request to be fallowed out!
Review 134:It is quite a long walk down to the beach, especially since you cannot take a direct route.
Review 135:We found the staff to be very helpful.
Review 136:the staff a really funnyand helpfuland understanding aswll
The Fine Print
