Reviews for Miradouro da Serra
Review 1:This is a VERY ordinary B & B which could do with maintenance in many areas. Booking.com should visit - is it really your "style" OR make clear in your website that it is what it is
Review 2:Good views Nice breakfast Not expensive
Review 3:Bathroom was very basic, low budget but functional
Review 4:Great location for walking monchique. Very clean, comfortable bed, loved the local honey with breakfast
Review 5:Noisy road. Drab decor. Wifi constantly down. Shutter jammed shut. V basic breakfast. Broken coat hangers. 'Balcony furniture' consists of 2 chairs but no table. 'Toiletries' consists of 1 slither of soap. A depressing place, run on a shoestring. V poor value for money. Glad to leave.
Review 6:Nice bed and breakfast in the middle of the center of Monchique. Good location, opposite of the tourist information center. The room was nice with a very large balcony. WiFi did not work all the time, but good enough. Dont expert too much of breakfast, just some bread with cheese and ham and a cup of coffee or tea. Overall, we had a nice stay here.
Review 7:Stayed overnight with a party of 6 (3 per room). We were crossing Algarve on mountain bikes and the owner was kind enough to let us store 5 bikes in the adjacent terrace. The nightly rates were very good (17€ per person per night) and included a simple breakfast. Stayed in May 2015
Review 8:Limited eating opportunities for the time of year
Review 9:On upper square of town above market square. Lovely views from balcony across valley. Wifi router in reception so doesn't permeate well to all rooms. 3 single beds in room. Popular Restaurant in square and supermarket below hotel from where we got evening meal supplies. Good cold cheese and ham breakfast which keeps coming on request. Tea is available if requested. Very good value for money.
Review 10:Breakfast could be better.
Review 11:The location. The room we had was a few Euros more expensive. Well worth the money because we went into a room by my mistake which was cheaper and the standard there was so, so.
Review 12:The ad said they provided free toiletries, so I didn't take shampoo. They only provided a small bar of soap. There were only 4 TV channels. There were only 2 blankets on the bed, not enough for a cold, wet, late autumn night. Breakfast was brought up on a tray the evening before- 2 rolls & small jam pots, no butter, an apple & a chocolate milk drink- I'd hoped for at least a hot coffee. The ad said English spoken, but it wasn't very good. Luckily, I speak some Portuguese.
Review 13:Nice view.
Review 14:not a wildly attractive building okay. though nicer inside. Staff sort of spoke English so we got by.
Review 15:Lovely views, nice staff I would stay again as convenient for the area.
Review 16:The bed: way too small for two people, makes incredible noises at every movement. No hot water in the morning
Review 17:The view on the mountains from the balcony and ladies, who own the property are nice (though don`t speak much English), the size of room is ok
Review 18:The room got incredibly hot. You can hear dogs bark all night and traffic noise makes sleeping difficult. The bed is really not particularly comfortable.
Review 19:Well located little place. Good value for money. Good wifi service which is not a given in most places.
Review 20:-Owners barely spoke English. -Shower head couldn't be attached to the wall, you'd have to hold it while showering. -Beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable -WiFi didn't work at all. -Very minimal breakfast with very bad coffee.
Review 21:- View from the balcony was amazing. - Clean room and bathroom.
Review 22:The people were rude, the speak to loud and you can ear them from every point of the hotel. Someone ringed the bell from the hotel and no one was there to answer, so that person stayed there for 15min ringing. Then I went there to say that the owner was no there. The breakfast was very simple and the ingredients were not fresh. Our bedroom door didn't lock. The shower was broken and you had to hold it in your hand. Towels had stains We didn't get towels because they forgot it. The owner complained with the maid loud.
Review 23:The location, the city Wifi was ok
Review 24:Dogs barking till late night. Street noise early morning (trucks loading or downloading). No jam or marmelade for breakfast, only plastic-like cheese and ham. Payment at arrival, of course.
Review 25:Low price, free WiFi (quite common in Portugal).
Review 26:Promised 'English spoken' , but not available . Room up a lot of stairs . Damp .
Review 27:Good location for seeing Monchique .
Review 28:The bedroom and bathroom were amazingly big. Everything was clean. Monchique is a nice place to visit.
Review 29:Wifi signal weak, a bit older bathroom
Review 30:Balcony with nice view, really cheap room with breakfast.
Review 31:Breakfast kind ok poor, Only Bread with ham, cheese and butter. On sunday there is no fresh bread
Review 32:The rooms were spacious
Review 33:Location. Monarchique is a gem of a village.
Review 34:un peu à l'écart mais le centre est à 5 mn à pied
Review 35:Limited choice of breakfast.
Review 36:Great location and very clean
Review 37:breakfast was bad compared to other hotels at the same rate
Review 38:Central location with stunning views of countryside.
Review 39:nothing
Review 40:friendly staff great location clean rooms great views very comfy beds
Review 41:Had no balcony, despite being advertised to have one.
Review 42:Quiet hotel, nice room.
Review 43:Can hear all noise as very echoey building and the bed was noisy when u turned over but comfy.
Review 44:Lovely family run place. Lovely views from balcony. Nice breakfast & coffee. Easy parking & great for walking. Great budget accommodation.
Review 45:No hair drier, only bar of soap for"toiletries "and no coffee making facilities
Review 46:Superb views, balcony, spotlessly clean room and easy free parking. Small reasonably priced supermarket next door. Close to an excellent restaurant and only a few hundred metres from Monchique centre
Review 47:Dark lobby, staircase and breakfast room. Just a comment before going on. I stayed in May, which seems to be low season in Monchique, with very few guests, and they were carrying out extensive renovation works in most of the rooms. Some of the following, might possibly be better in high season when they have more guests, and more staff. - They spoke very little English, had not even learnt the basic words needed for receiving guests. - They wanted to be paid in advance, in cash, and the nearest ATM is 10 minutes walk in the village. I can live with this, although I don't like it. But, according to Booking.com they do take credit cards, so this info is incorrect. But, this is probably lack of understanding the booking.com site rather than deliberate dishonesty. - It takes a long time to claim someone's attention. - They borrow your passport for a couple of hours, rather than taking a copy, or having guests fill in the data by themselves. - They serve only the one breakfast, which gives no choice, but as it is, it is good quality, 2 rolls with ham and cheese + an orange. - You need to run the hot water tap for 5 minutes to get hot water. - Some of the room details on Booking.com, about balcony, outdoor furniture etc, seems to refer to some of the rooms only, or the hotel as such. - The room is very sparsely furnished. For instance, there is no luggage rack, and no chair. Only 2 hangers in the wardrobe, etc.
Review 48:Excellent location in Monchique village, 5 minutes from bus. Wonderful view from room. Clean and fresh room with tiled floor and sparkling bath room with shower. The WiFi was working perfectly. Good value for money. I've listed a lot of negatives, actually it is nice and clean and a quite OK place to stay.
Review 49:No wifi in rooms and wifi in the hall was dreadful too. Firstly the password they had was wrong so we got them to correct it. Amazingly they manage to make another mistake writing down the password and so the next visitors will have exactly the same problem as we had. Old lady (probably owner) was very ackward with us, make us wait ages at the reception before we could check-in despite us arriving at the correct time. They made us pay up front which I don't like doing. Checkout was 11 o'clock which is earlier than other places. No permanent staff working so if there was probems we would have to chase down someone who could help.
Review 50:Room was nice with nice balcony Its actually quite close to everything. Mochique is small. Some staff members were nice.
