Reviews for Shinjuku Prince Hotel

Review 1:Rooms are a bit noisy (that's the price for being in the centre of Shinjuku I guess). Bed wasn't very good (collapsed on the side).

Review 2:Excellent location. Vending machines on every floor instead of minibar/room service. Air humidifier in the room.

Review 3:The toilet has a strong drain-smell which is deadly, worsened by the rather poor air ventilation which even if you complained of it the staff would only tell you nothing can be done. Smallness of the room is almost a norm so cannot expect anything else. No kettle in room and you have to take hot water in the lift lobby.

Review 4:Location is unbeatable. It is close to everything in Shinjuku, all within walking distance.

Review 5:Hotel under-renovation now.

Review 6:Location is fantastic, good room size for twin and double by Japanese standard. Its 8 min walk to Shinjuku station and other Train stations. Reach Shibuya and Harajuku in one station stop. Narita Airport Express train does reach Shinjuku station. Right smack in the center of the Shinjuku shopping district. I will come back.

Review 7:Location is right in the middle of Shinjuku which means train lines and flashing signs. Great if you want to be in the middle of it. Whilst the rooms are sound proof, they don't block out everything, so make sure you ask for a room higher up.

Review 8:Cleanliness of the rooms Staff were very accommodating and helpful

Review 9:Very hard to find when you first arrived from airport at the Shinjuku train station, better off getting a taxi in front off the station.

Review 10:Location is in the heart of Shinjuku area Very easy to find restaurant around which open until late love the room with the extra sofa bed for third person

Review 11:So far no any to think of Except the on going renovation work which can be understood for better facility to come in future

Review 12:Location location location

Review 13:Construction was going on, and the room was typically "compact" as is all Japanese hotels.

Review 14:Great hospitality and attitude! Loved the cleanliness and location. Near train station and lots of dining choices around. Convenience store across the street.

Review 15:The heater! Me and my husband were soooooo hot! They should turn off the heater and let guest decide how hot/cold they want their rooms to be.

Review 16:The location was top notch! Also the staff was really kind and helpful

Review 17:It was under construction when I stayed over, other than that, all else was great.

Review 18:Location is great. In the middle of the acton in Shinjuku. Near the central Shinjuku station.

Review 19:small room, crowded check in/out, small reception area. quite congest with lot of guest, lot of bar around too many drunk ppl in late night

Review 20:location next to metro/ short walk to Shinjuku sta. lot of food and drink to choose

Review 21:It was madness when we arrived at Shinjuku Station. It took us about 40 min to locate the exit to the hotel. Maybe in your summary about the hotel, just state that the shortest way was to exit the east .

Review 22:The hotel staff were very helpful and smiling and polite, Even the room helpers are very courteous.I would highly recommend this hotel to others. It is a centralised place for eating abd shopping.

Review 23:Room has a slight foul smell a times (maybe from the sewerage) and main lobby is under renovation so it lacks the ambience of paying for $300++/ night.

Review 24:Close proximity to JR station, lots of shopping and food and we had a nice big room.

Review 25:We upgraded to a bigger room and it was more spacious and comfortable. Renovation was going on but it didn't bother us. Staff was helpful all the time. Shinjuku station was close by. Lots of shopping malls. We stayed 2 nights and liked it very much.

Review 26:We have 2adults & 2 children. We managed to upgrade to a bigger deluxe room with separate vanity at a good price. This made our stay more comfortable. The room is very clean. This is the reason why i chose this hotel again. Easy access from Shinjuku station. I will still choose this hotel when i come again. My kids love the hotel room slippers.

Review 27:-because it is close to shinjuku station the train sound at night is quite annoying..

Review 28:-the hotel was in the middle of shopping district and the staff were very nice.. altho they couldn't speak perfect english but they're trying.. -you should be expecting japan size hotel not more than than.. -very close to train station

Review 29:The hotel was a minute away walk from Shinjuku station, you could find something to eat all the time as there are convenient stores just out side hotel. All around was good but it could be better.

Review 30:- hot water next to elevator a bit impractical because of you have to go out from room

Review 31:- if your priority is shopping, this hotel is for you - the hotel practically sitting on top of train station entrance - surrounded by many restaurants, low-end to high-end, you name it - many pachinkos nearby - many game centers around - many bars around too - almost every floor has drink and food vending machine - they provide boiled water on each floor corridor next to the elevator; practical when needed just fill the provided pot

Review 32:Location was awesome with easy accessibility to variety of food, shops, convenience stores and a 8-10 min walk to train stations. We find security to be efficient too. Concierge, bell counter staff were all very friendly and helpful. Although the airport limousine bus did not stop here, we took a short 5min taxi ride to the nearest pick up point at another hotel nearby - cost us between ¥730-1000 per trip. It was worth it considering the convenience of restaurants and shops during our stay.

Review 33:Our bill was 54,000yen which we had the receipt that said it was but my bank account shown 59,000yen had been taken out. We called our bank and they said it had nothing to do with them and it was the hotel. We called and after been passed off to different staff several times and even sending them an email of the account to show them the Shinjuku prince hotel had taken out 59,000yen they still did nothing. Good on ya guys. Not only that the bed was tiny very uncomfortable for two people.

Review 34:Because it's located in Shinjuku area, it could get a bit noisy at night time.

Review 35:Great location but a bit far from Shinjuku JR Station (East Exit) and no elevator for this exit, only for the south exit. The staffs were nice and helpful. The room was nice but the sofa was a bit old.

Review 36:The hotel location was nice but surrounded by night clubs and bars.

Review 37:The staffs were very helpful. The hotel location was easy to find and quite close to JR Station and bus stop for Airport Limousine Bus to Haneda/Narita Airport.

Review 38:There was no electric jug in the room for coffee and tea making, so you had to walk down the corridor to where the vending machines were and get hot water from a hot water spout there. A bit of a nuisance if your room was quite a way away.

Review 39:Great lively location close to the train station, with lots of restaurants and shopping close by.

Review 40:Small room. As much as I am sure the staff would have loved to have been able to help us out, some understood very little English and therefore were unable to help us with a few things.

Review 41:Top location, very friendly staff. Would recommend!

Review 42:The bathrooms could use a good cleaning or reno.

Review 43:2nd time staying at the Prince Hotel and enjoyed it again, i also liked the Location to shinjuku station and red light district.

Review 44:Loved the location of this hotel! Was in the hustle and bustle of shinjuku! Close to shops, restaurants, robot restaurant, cat cafe,JR and subway lines. Definitely stay here again!

Review 45:There were no drawers for the clothes. There were four hangers for pants and jackets but no place to put underwear, socks, and t-shirts. And for the price of breakfast it was just mediocre.

Review 46:Very clean room, wonderful staff, comfortable bed, soundproof. View was magnificent.

Review 47:Should consider providing some free service for example ice cubes ...

Review 48:Staff is very helpful and forth coming . Very well equipped to answer any questions . Always smiling and greet guest appropriately.

Review 49:the extra bed for third person. The sofa bed too old and noisy to sleep on. The extra bed mattress is very old and got metal spring on the surface. Request to change, but hotel staff said no more. Finally, move the mattress on the floor and added with extra thick blanket. Hotel may consider to replace all their old mattress to new mattress as portable mattress is not expensive. Thanks to hotel staff to solve the extra bed problem even at 3am.

Review 50:location, bed...except the extra bed.

Review 51:Theres no room service but no biggie as the shops are at your door step.

Review 52:Great location. Fantastic view of the bright lights of Shinjuku. Convenient walking distance to the shops. Excellent helpful staff. The rooms are small but snug. Perfect for those who wish to use it as somewhere to rest/sleep.

Review 53:Rooms are tiny, but that's the way it is in Tokyo. No direct transportation to airport. Have to walk or take taxi to Shinjuku Station to catch the train or airport bus.

Review 54:Nice hotel and amenities. Friendly, helpful staff. Close to Shinjuku station.

Review 55:When you stay at a internatoil hotel, you would expect to have a english speaking channel. This would put me staying here again.

Review 56:The room was very clean and the hotel is very well placed.

Review 57:The Neon City, major station so close, night views from upper floors. Contrast b/w west and east Shinjuku. Excellent staff. Always something vibrant happening.

Review 58:Room a bit small No breakfast

Review 59:Excellent location - near to Shinjuku station, Shinjuku shopping areas, Kabuchiko. Free wireless Friendly, helpful staff Nice room, with safe deposit box

Review 60:The room was very out dated and blinds were tattered... the toilet definitely needs an update also, expected much more for what i paid.wifi expired before we left.

Review 61:Location

Review 62:This hotel's main problem is its rooms. The room we booked was awfully small compared to the other hotels we stayed in Kyoto and Osaka. Granted we had luggage, we really couldn't move in the room nor place our luggage properly. The bathroom was not entirely clean as well. Shinjuku Prince isn't a bad hotel, but I wouldn't book there for a long stay. It's not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel compared to other hotels where we stayed longer and even paid a cheaper rate per night.

Review 63:This hotel's location is ideal if you plan to soak what Shinjuku has to offer; which is a lot.

Review 64:The cups in the room were not washed everyday even though they were obviously used. Cotton pads for make up removal not provided. Airport shuttle not as convenient.

Review 65:Perhaps showing its age a little. I'd really like a kettle in my room. The hot water and thermos are good, but a kettle would be fantastic.

Review 66:Giant neon signs on one side, Godzilla on the other and Skytree straight ahead-welcome to Tokyo!

Review 67:Experienced my first earthquake and the lifts shut down, I was on the 22nd floor, a lot of climbing for an old man

Review 68:The location, great access to the subway and JR lines, lots of good cheap restaurants within metres, helpful staff

Review 69:There was a building across the hotel, and its neon sign was too bright in the night. It seems there was a black blind curtain, but it didn't work.

Review 70:The location was awesome. The room was very clean and comfortable with a nice view.

Review 71:rooms Are just enough cant fit too much luggage

Review 72:friendly staff and knows how to speak in english. My kids enjoyed the location , stores like muji uniqlo are juSt situated within the building and train station is very accessible . Would gladly go back to this hotel on our next trip

Review 73:The gd thing abt this hotel is the location. The room is small but acceptable. Toilet is like a plastic cubicle... pillow too thin. However, overall stay was pleasant.

Review 74:Bedrooms are quite small. Small bathroom was very cramped. Didn't particularly like the shower over the bath. Tried the breakfast and paid 1600 yen each. Didn't really think it was worth it considering the options provided and food wasn't of great quality.

Review 75:Close to majority of shops and within walking distance of trains especially Shinjuku station. Rooms were always made daily however would've been nice if they dusted as well. By the end of our 5 day stay the room was very dusty.

Review 76:Rooms a bit small, but that is expected in downtown Tokyo.

Review 77:Right beside Shinjuku train station and close to many of the tourist sites in Tokyo. Clean rooms and good wifi.

Review 78:Rooms are very small (although all hotels in Tokyo are like this) Very expensive for what you get

Review 79:Good location of hotel, close to Shinjuku station. In the heart of Shinjuku itself

Review 80:Right at the Shinjuku station on the JR railway line....Lots of shops both underground and above. We stayed in the larger deluxe room which is not that large but large for Japanese standards. It was very comfortable. We didn't have the breakfast as there was lots of places to eat over the road and there is a fantastic coffee shop in the basement that has outstanding coffee.

Review 81:Accommodation "tax" or maybe it's a fee on top of the cost through Booking.com. This fee was noted in the booking notes, however, it should be included in the total costs upfront. This is my 3rd booking with Booking.com and the other hotels never charged an additional fee above the stated costs.

Review 82:Great location, not far from JR Shinjuku Station. In the midst of a busy and active area for shopping and eating. Room was modern and clean. Slightly larger then typical Japanese business hotels for a standard double room. Housekeeping does an excellent job with close attention to detail.

Review 83:Overall, the property feels very impersonal, simply because it is too large. You will run into some not so courteous travelers here. The lobby and restaurant need renovation, bad 80's style. Rooms are more modern but have no heat. It tends to smell musty and the windows don't open but they do provide dehumidifyers. Bathrooms are the size of a cruiseship bathroom but clean.

Review 84:S.P. is located at Seibu Shinjuku station, directly next to the Kabukicho nightlife district, which can be a bit seedy. Cross Yakusuni dori and you will enter a nice shopping and restaurant district. It will take you 10-20 minutes to get to your subway tracks, depending on which line you are taking, so be prepared to walk. A lot. Lots of hustle and bustle in the area, so if that's not your thing, stay in Asakusa. The hotel is very dated and smells a bit funky. Rooms are small and don't have heat, only AC. Breakfast is served buffet style in the Viking restaurant. They do offer Western options in addition to the usual Japanese rice, miso soup, fish and pickles. For the price however (2,200 yen) the quality is not great. It was nice to have an omelet station, pancakes, salad bar and fresh fruit, but the pastries were not fresh and options generally limited. The bell desk is always busy, but quite helpful. They were able to book me a hair appointment at a very nice salon and even translated my wishes to the salon owner while I was there. They also have umbrellas to lend, until they run out. .

Review 85:Room is small, you can say it's compact, sometimes you can hear people speaking from the halls.

Review 86:Staff is very helpful and nice(English is way better than those spoken at airport), good facilities, good location, goes directly to subways, good value for money at the time it was booked.

Review 87:No place where to put your clothes, only hangers. Air conditioning too loud. WLAN was a catastrophe - you don't really have it if you're not down in the lobby.

Review 88:Surprisingly quiet, nice looks over Shinjuku, 5 mins from Shinjuku Station, shops and enterntainment right across the street, good price, always clean.

Review 89:Very small room, no place to put luggage without tripping over it, though the other positive encounters out weighs the negatives.

Review 90:Great location. Cleanliness. Service was excellent. Amenities fantastic. Shower was powerful and relaxing after a long flight. Pleasantly surprised after the shock of how compact the room was.

Review 91:The rooms are small but adequate for a couple of days stay.

Review 92:We only stayed one night but we imagine it's a good base for two nights to explore the Shinjuku area. The location is excellent as it is 5 minutes to the subway, metro, JR line and bus station. Golden gai was at most ten minutes away. It's a lively area with lots of restaurants and bars to choose from.

Review 93:Outdated facilities, respiratory needs a facelift, reception in basement but bag drop off on 1st floor (tiny space). Had high expectations as have stayed in many hotels and have lived in Shinjuku for many years. Too many tour groups from mainland Chinavslso bring down the atmosphere of what (in the sixties) would have been a nice place to stay. Won't be going back.

Review 94:Location s the best thing about this hotel - that's about it

Review 95:The pillow is too soft and flat, uncomfortable bed, like typical hotel rooms in Japan, it is small.

Review 96:It is near to the shinjuku train station. Very easy to find.

Review 97:Hotel staff did the wrong check in room by put us to smoking floor even thought we show the detail of booking to her. It is unexpectation case that of 4 stars hotel did a mistake

Review 98:Location of hotel is very convenience

Review 99:Minus is the room is Super small!! The bed is very small.as well! Youhave to pay for breakfast,, So much dust on the tables and shelf overthe bed.. Too expensive price for this quality!!

Review 100:Very close To Shinjuku station.Shinjuku area is very loud and neversleep but we stayd in 21st floor so we don't hear so much noise.Easy to find restaurants!

Review 101:No bad experience, just fairly thin walls.

Review 102:Loved the bed and pillow - not hard at all like the rest of the beds in Japan. Great location and really close to the train station to get around to the rest of Tokyo easily

Review 103:i booked this hotel because I thought it was very near the train station. It is on top of a station which does not connect to any line we can use. It is not as near to JR station and even farther to the Shinjuku station. You can still walk to this 2 stations but do not book this hotel if you think it is a few paces away from major train station.

Review 104:Staff - very helpful Lots of eating places very close by

Review 105:hotel room very old.furniture not maintain in good condition.no kettle in room(hot water machine provided near lift area only)

Review 106:great wifi, location acceptable(walking distance from jr train station).room size acceptable small.please dont expect two or more than two big size baggages in room.

Review 107:The bathroom had a bad smell.

Review 108:Location. And the service of being able to leave our luggage with the hotel when we checked out and came back to check in again after a night in Yuzawa. Can ask directions at the guest assistance desk, can also book private car to airport, can assist guest with hailing taxi. Shampoo, soap etc in pump bottles, not sachets.

Review 109:Some reviews say the rooms are small, but it's central Tokyo - what do they expect? I think the rooms are a reasonable size

Review 110:Everything - price, facilities, excellent wifi

Review 111:Nobody assist us with our luggage. They were not be able to book a taxi for us or either help us giving us some tips about Tokyo and transportations..

Review 112:views from the room and location

Review 113:Room was small - although to be expected in japan. Despite having dehumidifier there was a lot of condensation from the window making the floor wet.

Review 114:Location! Easy to find and great access to everything Tokyo has to offer. Clean room with an exceptional view. Held our bags for us after we checked out so we could keep exploring.

Review 115:I came here with a few mates after a snow tour. I don't often drink but came here after a big night out and was helped by all staff and treated as a normal customer

Review 116:Really small rooms and bathroom. No way you can share! We each had a room with a double bed pushed up against the wall. No closet, just a few hangers on the wall. No place to rest luggage.Too close to red light district. More like a 3 star hotel.

Review 117:Close to rail, subway and restaurants. Attached to a mall. Staff was great about helping us get around the city. Rooms were quiet considering the noise outside.

Review 118:Very small tiny room.I have the three bed room. The third bed is a sofa bed.Make noise when flip and turn and blocking the walk way.No room left for luggage at all.Bath has a smell.

Review 119:Right by the heart of Shinjuku .Easy assets to every where.

Review 120:3rd bed was a sofa bed and very uncomfortable. Room was way too hot and we couldn't cool it down at all. They brought us a fun which did little really.

Review 121:Friendly staff, close to railway, good food, sights

Review 122:the quality of the pillow seriously sucks, my plan on the next day cancelled due to sleepless night, had neck-ache. room was pretty stuffy as it is winter, they disabled the air cond. ceiling was pretty low, my brother hit is head outside the lift near the vending machine area. room size was incredibly small, especially the standard rooms, we had 20kg baggage per person, each room with 40 kg you can actually sleep on top of the luggage.... room wall thin like paper, can actually hear your neighbor, no privacy.. the pillow should have upgraded...

Review 123:good location, staff trying hard to speak English. full set of complimentary more than you need toilet amenity, next to JR Line and subways

Review 124:Location is on the border of Kabuki-cho - district of night life and shady entertainment. Though it is still safe and close to the major transport hub - Shinjuku station.

Review 125:Great view from the room.

Review 126:Our room was very small not much room to put any luggage, although our kids had a triple room and it was much roomier even with the extra bed.

Review 127:Great location in the hub of activity. Close to station and loads of places to eat

Review 128:The lady staff did my check-out did not bother to answer me regarding their Prince group hotels in Hokkaido as I asked for their hotel names in northeastern Hokkaido for our next month trip.

Review 129:Good location, and it is value for money.

Review 130:nothing to say

Review 131:Location to everything with nightlife involved. train station right below hotel. staff were excellent. never ate there. but food around the area was really tasty.met locals and expats from the area who were all friendly and very helpful

Review 132:For a 4 star, expected a better room. Booked a room for triple, room was tight due to the room configuration.

Review 133:Location is good for where I wanted to be.

Review 134:the room is dusty and i kept on sneezing. good that i have antihistamines and cortisone nasal spray with me. when i looked under the bed there was a lot of dust. the bathroom was smelly but the housekeeping person cleaned under the sink wc solved the problem i hope they vacuum the carpet more often

Review 135:the location was excellent and the staff were helpful although one of the personnel in the concierge gave us wrong train directions the hotel,is old and not so clean but i would still consider staying there for my next visit bec of the location

Review 136:the people there were not helpful. you need to carry all yr things in and out of the room. there were no transport provided by the hotel. it is not a good choice if you travel with lots of luggages.

Review 137:the room is big. its clean and comfortable.

Review 138:Small rooms, but that is the case in Tokyo, so it's not exceptional

Review 139:Best place to be central to the Shinjuku station. Comfortable room, though small. Attentive Staff. Can leave luggage for a week in their storage. Would definitely stay there again.
