Review 1：Upon check in we were told that they were full but we would be accommodated at the large hotel across the road. Unfortunately this meant we didn't get the sea view with balcony which we had requested. Instead we had a view of another building's wall and the term 'garden view' was not very accurate!
Review 2：The room was comfortable and the Dom Pedro hotel facilities were excellent with an outstanding breakfast. We had the best dinner of our 10 day stay at the Restuarant at Residencial Familia! Outstanding grilled calamari and espatado.
Review 3：No lift and lots of steps to room (2nd floor)could be a problem if you have limited mobility. No facility for making your own drink in room. No soaps or hair dryer.
Review 4：Good location just off the main road. Very friendly helpful staff and food was excellent as was service. Nice view.
Review 5：We don't recommend this hotel for the following reasons: - Poor welcome and service from the landlord; - At the restaurant, we were served accompaniments that we didn't eat. They were charged though we didn't order them. These are forced sales, thus illegal. That resulted in a poor price/quality ratio.

Review 7：It was a very good stay, the only thing we had was upon arrival the street from the navigation unit of our car. If you are facing that, search for Don Pedro Hotel in Macchico, the charming family hotel is right in front of that.
Review 8：It was a pleasure to stay at residencia. A small family hotel with a nice restaurant. It has a super connection to the highway and it is quite close to some beautiful walking tours. The fish in the restaurant is amazing. We choosed to eat there every nigth! If we are welcome, we would stay there anytime again.
Review 9：The mattress was quite hard. I saw a cockroach in the bathroom. Loud buzzing noise coming from a little building at the hotel across the street kept me awake (maybe for their airco?)

Review 11：Large room for single occupancy with balcony in sunshine until after 19.00 gave good value for money.Bathroom had best over-bath shower cubicle I have ever seen in an hotel or domestically! Good quality furnishings throughout hotel and high standard of cleanliness. Guests have own key to entrance which is kept locked at all times,providing security and peace of mind.Unobtrusive service at breakfast,selection offered was adequate for me. Had one dinner and one lunch in hotel(discount for residents)and these were well presented and tasty.Machico excellent transport hub for those wishing to explore the eastern region,omitting the scenic,but tedious,lengthy bus journey from Funchal every time.Quick access to airport.

Review 13：Excellent location. In our opinion best sand/rock beach combo for chilling in the calm water or swimming in the moderate waves. Clean hotel, nice hotel keepers, nice view for first day on Madeira.

Review 28：Great view of Machico bay from our balcony. Good budget hotel close to the airport. The room was spacious and the balcony had table and two chairs. The dinner in their restaurant was very good, one of the best we had in Madeira. They also offer a 10% discount in the restaurant to the guests of the pension.

Review 31：The room was more spacious than we expected. Comfortable, and homely. And the included breakfast was filling.
Review 32：No hairdier, no kettle and no cups. The matress had seen better days. Although we stayed for 7 nights the bed linen was not changed, it was pretty grubby by the time we left. No local information available to look at. A rather rude person on the Reception Desk who made us feel most unwelcome.

Review 34：Spacious appartment near the center of Machico, easy to walk around the area, to go to the different supermakets and restaurants. Appartment has two balconies and is reachable by elevator, so no need to climb up stairs with luggage.

Review 36：It was a great pleasure to be a guest in this hotel. Owners are very helpful and hospitable people. Machico is a quiet town. And yes.. it's quite far from Funchal but actually that's another advantage for me and my family. We just love quiet and peaceful places. I would definitely recommend Residencial Familia to anyone :)

Review 38：Great location. Our room ( No 8) had balcony and fantastic views. Good reasonably priced on site restaurant. Substantial breakfast. Wifi now available in all rooms. Able to park car easily. Good base for touring into the interior.

Review 45：Residencial Familia is very close to the airport in Funchal (7 minsfrom Funchal Airport). We spent 2 nights there, one at our arrival andone upon departure from Funchal. Even though we arrived late in thenight, very nice guy Antonio came to open the hostel to us. Also hetook care of the taxi arrangement when we were leaving Madeira. Wehighly recommend this place, it is clean, nice and has beautiful viewof the ocean so it is excellent start visiting Madeira, at least for usit was great.
