Reviews for L'Auberge Del Mar Resort and Spa

Review 1:The $279/day room ended up over $370/day with taxes, valet parking, and the resort fee.

Review 2:The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The grounds are fine and the location near Sea Grove Park was perfect. There are a # of good restaurants nearby. The room (Upgraded through the Bell Staff) was comfortable and quiet.

Review 3:no bath amenities, no turn down, couldn't get more than two glasses in room ever. Did not feel very welcomed. I was more like they were doing us a favor letting us stay there.

Review 4:location

Review 5:Did not make the beads until late in the afternoon. Sink backed up half way with mud two days in a row even though requested that it be taken care of. Wish they were not putting in artificial grass - the garden is beautiful

Review 6:Great location. Cool path down to the beach Interesting watching all the weddings

Review 7:This hotel had a really great feel to it. I loved the style, the lobby & lounge area was comfortable with a lively atmosphere (the races were on at the time of our visit). There was a cool outside restaurant area with bar & ocean views. Pool was good with comfortable loungers & good service. Room was of a high standard. Short walk to restaurants & beach.

Review 8:Wi-Fi dropped constantly. We were encouraged to upgrade to a bigger room that would accommodate a rollaway, so after paying for a room upgrade, were still charged $35 for the rollaway. In addition, the room they gave us was right next to a conference room, where they were either setting up or cleaning up in the 5am hour! Very thin walls! I was woken up in the middle of the night to people chatting in the hallway and had to ask them to move their conversation somewhere else. It wasn't like they were really loud, just thins walls/doors. Very expensive pool drinks, even for a place like this. We just felt like once we checked in, we never heard one thing from the staff, no turn down service, etc.

Review 9:Location

Review 10:My daughter and I travelled from the UK for a family wedding. We found the whole experience excellent and could not fault the hotel and staff. I will be returning next year with my husband. Thank you all for a truly memorable stay at L'Auberge and Del Mar

Review 11:The hotel needs refreshing - the elevator was a mess (broken light, streaked and dirty walls and floor), carpeting in our hallway tired and smelled of mildew. The gym needed a thorough cleaning - and there should be cleaning supplies for users to whip off things.

Review 12:The restaurant was wonderful, and the staff polite, professional and courteous. Our room was spacious, clean and the view was spectacular. We will definitely be back.

Review 13:Our room was garden-view but the patio was so small and part of the roof was coming down on our small patio so it appeared dark in one corner. Loved that you could open the door and look out. The beds had sharp corners on either side and both my husband and I banged our legs on the corners when we had the comforters off. The drinks were a bit pricey and paying $29 for parking I did not care for.

Review 14:Starting with the staff, they were so friendly and courteous. The room was very comfortable and beautiful, loved that there was a big screen TV. It was decorated very nice.

Review 15:The high end restaurant in site has no view. But more casual patio dining does and there are 10 other places to eat within a few blocks.

Review 16:Short walk from beach with great view from patio restaurant and pool. Lots of places to eat within walking distance. Great walking opportunities along the beach and on paths overlooking ocean. Hotel itself was beautiful but not stuffy.

Review 17:The rooms were dusty and the carpets were questionable. The service was underwhelming. I want even offered a bellhop to get to my room upon check in. It is quite a walk to the beach and you have to lug chairs, umbrella etc down with no help. It was my fault I suppose because I thought it was a beach resort- it is not -and there is no attempt made to accommodate those who would like enjoy the beach. Also the pool is small and did not look clean.

Review 18:The valets did a good job.

Review 19:One coffee mug for two people, air conditioning system did not work for half of our 3 night stay.

Review 20:Perfect location to Del Mar spots and beach.

Review 21:A bit disappointed with the Spa...it isn't really a Spa...it looks more like a beauty saloon....

Review 22:location is awesome; the staff very professional

Review 23:Great hotel with fabulous facilities and staff, loved it!!

Review 24:No option valet parking only.

Review 25:Location great, views great, staff fantastic and helpful

Review 26:Not well maintained. Dirty and not professional

Review 27:The pool area was not usually cleaned from the night before until after 10am. If you're planning to hang at the pool with a child before then watch out for debris. It's an eyesore. Also there were no towels until late morning which was an inconvenience. This happened three days in a row.

Review 28:The lobby and valet staff were very friendly. The location is great. We didn't have much of a view but for the price could not complain. The rooms are well kept and the noise level was fine.

Review 29:Nothing --- first class and every small detail in the rooms and grounds was not over looked!!!

Review 30:The valet being the first people you see we're awesome. Pleasant, funny and quick... The pool was clean, great to rent the cabana and get free alcohol and food. The spa was a hudge treat... A must for every visitor to have

Review 31:Hallways, furnishings, pool area, etc... Did not hold up in design to what you anticipate a hotel of this caliber to emulate

Review 32:The hotel felt tired and dated for the price.

Review 33:L’Auberge is a beautiful property in an amazing location. My husband andI booked one night for a special birthday getaway. I splurged on thePremiere Deluxe Room. It was a nice size room with a fire place, comfortably appointed and had a balcony with a partial ocean view. Thisis where my good comments end. We had no opportunity to enjoy ourbalcony which looked straight onto an event terrace. In the evening itwas being used for a business reception (no privacy for us – had to keepour shutters closed) and the next morning workers banged around settingup for another reception. Noisy is an understatement. This room withtaxes was over $500 for one night. I had some reasonably highexpectations which were not met. Our bathroom sink smelled like a sewerand the fireplace did not work. The “spa” lotion tube was ¼ full whichmade me feel like someone else had already used it. Our room was locatedon the 3rd floor but we were never able to use the elevator because itwas constantly busy with maintenance and housekeeping staff. The tenniscourts did not have fresh drinking water and the vines growing throughthe fence were a great place to lose the tennis balls. Since our staywas so short, we chose not to waste our time trying to get things fixed. However, in my opinion a world class resort pays attention to thedetails that make a stay amazing – the L’Auberge did not. Upon our checkout I waited for the clerk to ask how our stay was, but he didn’T. Eventhe Travelodge asks how your stay was! We will not be staying hereagain. The price did not match the experience and there are many otherresorts more deserving of our dollars.

Review 34:Valets were great but it grew a little tiresome having to have them getthe car if we forgot something in it and tipping every time.

Review 35:So beautifully decorated, peaceful yet classy. Room service 24 hr - nice- appeared to come from the Kitchen 1540 Restaurant on site and had thebest hamburger of my life!!

Review 36:The staff came to our room to check the mini bar and informed my children they were not suppose to be in the room?????

Review 37:The location and the view. Also easy access to town.

Review 38:Original room was overlooking car park but upgraded to a sea view room which was worth the extra $65 per night.

Review 39:The feeling of the hotel was very relaxed and casual but the surroundings were pure luxury.

Review 40:Can't find a bad thing about it.

Review 41:Everything, I've stayed at many boutique hotels and I can honestly say that this is one of the best ocean places to stay.

Review 42:The room I was shown on arrival overlooked a gloomy driveway. I was able to change this immediately to a lovely, sunny room-- at an upgraded price, however.

Review 43:Staff were very friendly and helpful with all requests. Spa services were excellent.

Review 44:Cheap bathroom tissue. Bed support bruises shins. Overpriced parking.Limited T.V. program selection. Tea from dispenser tastes like bad tar.

Review 45:Well decorated rooms. Good staff assistance. Good location.

Review 46:Can't think of anything......perhaps you could have ordered warmerweather...but loved the heaters outside.

Review 47:Hotel restaurants were wonderful. My room was great. Staff very helpful.I came to spend july 4th with my daughter and her family. Very relaxingtrip. Thanks!

Review 48:A fabulous experience all around. This place tops all the Ritz Carlton'swhere I have stayed. This is one of my top two or three resortexperiences.

Review 49:Food and beverage staff service was aloof, food was okay

Review 50:The front desk and valet staff were excellent. Bed was very comfortable and bath amenities were very good.

Review 51:Very friendly staff from front desk to valet parking. Good food.

Review 52:They don't even offer complimentary coffee in the morning. I am surprised that they don't have pay toilets.

Review 53:Great location. Wonderful spot

Review 54:Location excellent

Review 55:Location and ocean views

Review 56:Felt it was a little expensive from rooms to food and drinks.

Review 57:Friendly staff.

Review 58:not on the beach and in room dining was too expensive

Review 59:interesting exterior and location, spa treatment was wonderful

Review 60:nothing

Review 61:The proximity to the village as well as the ocean.

Review 62:our room carpeting appeared to be a bit worn...we also had some centipedes - bugs in the room ,,,

Review 63:location and comfort

Review 64:Beautiful accommodations ... Great location ... Lovely service

Review 65:Noise was an issue if I had needed to get to sleeo earlier

Review 66:ambiance
